Spectrum Health Medical Group Gastroenterology: what do users think?
Tohbii Hall (tohbii): Among one of many spectrum hospitals that I've been dismissed from while seeking accommodations for my disabilities. I'm sick of it happening. Even after months of back and forth communication with patient relations to set up clarifying appointments, I was told I was "hostile" or that nobody in the office could provide me with answers. I was never even granted a conversation with the guy who diagnosed me and I didn't understand what that meant for me or why I've been in so much pain. They haven't even assured I was able to find someone else despite my being disabled. It's clear to me that I am unwelcome and I'm sorry I put so much time and effort into trying to establish healthy communication with them. It is evident to me now that they had no intent of accommodating me or explaining my symptoms or providing solutions. I greatly regret trying.Edit: clearly they don't read when they respond because I've already gone through and failed by patient relations, I do not believe they would "love to hear from me"
GHHS 1979: This review is from Lori Poel. I was treated wonderfully for my colonscopy. My nurse, Devonne, was so kind and assured me that all would go well. She was the best nurse I've ever been treated by. I was also especially impressed that Dr. Hoedema personally got me for the procedure. She called me by name and explained everything well. The colonoscopy was painless even though I was under light sedation. I highly recommend this place based on my great experience.
Ryan Ott: Everyone was super friendly and made me feel incredibly comfortable. A great group of people who all seemed to enjoy working with each other.
Katelynn Stine: The few times I have had to call, the nurses are extremely rude! Literally just got off the phone with a nurse and yet again RUDE! I wonder how they would appreciate it if the roles were reversed!? I'm so sick of being treated like this by their staff, do better! If you can't treat patients with kindness maybe this is not the proper work field for you!
Kathleen Mack: The stressed staff push you through quickly like you are just a number. Nurse told me that they sometimes do 100 procedures a day. The facility is quite small for so many people. I never got to talk to my doctor until I was in the procedure room as I was being prepared for my colonoscopy. I had to ask how I was going to be sedated. They explained it was through my IV and that oxygen was given as a support. The nurse gave me a shot in my IV. I was awake off and on during the procedure.
Toni VanVaerenbergh: Loved my first experience with Dr. Ferch! She definitely listened to all my questions and concerns! Best GI doctor I have had by far!
Black Widow: Dr.Moeller most definitely is a Great Doctor to place your medical medical problems with up standing medical views and opinions to more productive life
Kimberly Webley: 3 years and find out I have bowel endomitriosis When all along I was told I was trying to make stuff up off the internet. Made a hole thru my bowels..Definitely would seek help somewhere else 😞
L arthur: Was a patient for over 19 years. Since it was almost 2 years, THEY CONSIDERED ME A NEW PATIENT. I came and saw the PA, she took me to the schedule desk personally. I was told I would get a call if THEY had a cancellation. The relationship with the PA for Osborne tanked. Would not recommend this place after Osborne left. My friend told me a month ago, NOT TO GO TO ANY MALE THERE. THEY ARE CONDESCENDING TO WOMEN.
Nikki Tramper: They worked with me to get my medication at a good cost, control my symptoms and continue to help with any questions. I see Triemstra and will always recommend him. Their office is extremely busy so it is hard to get in but definitely worth it.
Tonya Brown: Was referred to this office over 3 weeks ago and still do not have an appointment. I have called 2 times and I'm told "it's being reviewed, we will call when we are ready to schedule". This last time I was told the office was backlogged and it might be a few more weeks....I will be calling my PCP tomorrow and request they refer me to another office!
Wrldz: Awful customer service. Awful scheduling. Just awful. Messed up my prescriptions for surgery prep multiple times and did nothing about it each time and even got hung up on. Horrible, horrible, place.
Susan Richards: Wouldn't recommend this place. They use what they call Conscious Sedation.Dr Ogilvie used this kind of sedation.Terrifying being awake during this procedure.I guess I'll stick with Metro at least they put you out!
Michael Baker (DethOriginal): Had great experiences with the doctors here.
GG Taruc: Please add your business hours.
Ted Billups: Had a CT scan today. Was easy enough to schedule the appointment and they got me in within a week. My records and some other test results were sent from another hospital and they received and had them into the Spectrum system efficiently within a day. The front-desk and CT scan team were professional and courteous. Procedure was quick (15 mins?) and simple enough considering I don't like IVs. Afterward I called to ask for the records and the person there was super also very courteous and helped me out.
Happily Honest Camper: Extremely poor customer service when scheduling. Would give 0 stars if possible. When you're the only game in town you can treat patients poorly.

Grand River Gastroenterology: what do users think?
Abigail Pall: Why can’t they answer their phone or call you back? The world may never know…Overall my experience with the doctors has been positive. I feel like the office takes pretty good care of you whenever they decide to actually get back to you. Also if anything is needed for insurance (pre-auths for example) don’t assume they will take care of it, because they won’t. Expect to call (multiple times) to make sure what you need gets taken care of.You really need to be your own self advocate to be a patient at this office.
Michigan Green: I can’t say enough positive things about this place. They are incredibly efficient with getting you in and out. My wife and I get cancer screenings done here due to strong family history of cancer. The nurses and doctors are all great and take the time to keep you informed. And we are always in and out inside 2 hours. If you get your primary care from the VA they bill the VA directly so there is no out of pocket cost. They are just good people.
reggie reser: I had a great experience! I anticipated it being alot more dreadful than it actually was...all the workers were really very nice staring with Q...nurse Beth...the anesthesia...Mr.Young & his partner Kevin....Allison was great and of course Dr. Cooper was amazing....the shortbread cookies and coffee were a nice surprise after the procedure....I highly recommend this crew to anyone who is going to receive this procedure....thank-you for your professionalism!!!
X X: This place is awful. I will not go here again. While at my appointment, I watched the staff turn a mother away because she was one minute late from being 15 minutes early. The way they treated her was just awful. Horrible staff and customer service.
leigh: My doctor sent in a referral for me over a month ago and no on reached out to me to schedule an appointment. I tried calling to make an appointment and their voicemail says 48 hour turn time for a call back. Here I am 4 days later with no call. Their voicemail also says hours are 9-4 and closed for over an hour for lunch, must be nice to work less than 7 hours a day and not care about people's health. Even if I do get a call now I wouldn't want to go to this place, it's already not a good experience for me and I'm afraid they would not take care of me once I'm there.UPDATE- i received a call 5 days after my second call to them. I explained I was concerned about the level of care i would receive from them since it took them so long to call to schedule and the scheduler cut me off to ask if I wanted to schedule or not. I said no thank you and she was very rude and cut the call off. No thank you, I will go to your office EVER. If they can't stand by their word and call people back within 48 hours like they said they would then I don't want to give them my time. No apology, unbelievable.
mark redner: After placing no less than 6 calls, leaving multiple messages and listening to the recorded message about leaving multiple messages would not speed up the process of making an appointment I finally got a return call and was able to make an appointment. After an evening and morning of full prep at 11:35AM I received a call apologizing that they had a plumbing issue and were going to have to cancel my 3 PM procedure. I was further told that I could call to reschedule at a later date as they were unable to reschedule at this time. I explained that it was extremely difficult to schedule and was provided an alternate number.I will be looking for an alternate place to have my procedure.
Colleen Weatherbee: why does it take so long to get a call back?
Cheri Noorman: Horrible experience. Staff is rude. Front desk lady was rude, unpleasant. And that’s their first impression. Then the nurse that brought us back was also rude. Short in her responses. Seemed annoyed. As an RN myself I was shocked at their patient care. I would not recommend this place for ANYONE. Go somewhere else.
Nacho Business: The service here is excellent, if they ever actually get in touch with you. Be prepared to get sent to their voicemail for a few days (not joking) before they actually answer the phone and respond to any questions. Every step of the way is more difficult than the last from scheduling an appointment to calling with follow-up questions. Save both your time and your well-being and find another doctor.
Tom Horrigan: Great organization with great doctors and staff. Highly recommend.
todd moelker: Called to make an appointment. After a period of time on hold there was a message that they couldn't answer my call and that I should leave my contact information and that they would get back to me within 48 business hours. This message was followed by a rather snotty message that "leaving more than one message wouldn't get a return call any quicker". Original call was 2-7-2023. Hadn't received a call back as of afternoon of 2-14 so I called again and got the same message. I instead chose the number that would bring me to the staff of one of the doctors. That call was answered immediately and though not her job, the gal who answered got me scheduled. After this I checked out their reviews and it seems that there are serious problems with their office staff. If you can go to a different office I would recommend it. If anyone from Grand River Gastroenterology actually reads their reviews you might want to shake up your office manager and staff. They are failing badly!
Kimberly: Review of Dr. J. B. Morrow:He is not good at trying to solve the problem of the patient. Instead of working to solve the issue, he told me he didn't know why I was experiencing the symptoms (after an endoscopy), then prescribed Zofran for nausea... which is not one of my symptoms. Unsurprisingly, it has not worked. No attempt to find the root of the problem. His bedside manners were average, but on the lower side. I would not recommend him.
Kelly Shafer: Dr was amazing!!!!! Scheduling and nursing understanding regarding sense of urgency was awful. Trying to schedule an esophageal expansion on an adult person who weighs 55lbs was aweful. The staff was not cooperative, and did not understand or seem to care about the sense of urgency for a patient who was suffering. If a family member had not persisted, the patients first esophageal expansion would not have been performed until mid February. This is not efficient patient care.
Daniel ES: 11/16/22 edit: Dr. Murphy reached out to me and was understanding and apologetic. I saw him today, and he seemed to genuinely care about my health issues, and it sounds like they have taken steps to fix the problems with scheduling. Everyone makes mistakes; all we can hope for is trying to do better when it's brought up, and it seems like they're trying. I've changed my review from 1 to 3 stars and will revisit later after I've received more care from them.I am livid. I was a patient here. My doctor disappeared and I was never notified until I tried setting up another appointment. After setting up a follow-up appointment, they later cancelled me as a patient altogether. Apparently, I made the mistake of seeing a nurse practitioner in spectrum, since she was recommended by my physical therapist, and I figured it couldn't hurt. They said if I wanted to continue seeing them, I needed a referral from a Trinity doctor, even though I already had a referral to them.I then went out of my way to completely change my primary care to a Trinity doctor to get the referral. I scheduled a new appointment and waited. I just received a call, two weeks before my appointment, saying they cancelling me *again* because my paperwork wasn't sent over. Or because I had seen someone else. The explanations were all over the place. I explained I followed their instructions to a T, but it didn't matter. If I want to see them, I need to get another referral and manually call up spectrum to get my paperwork transferred over? Honestly, at this point I don't trust that if I did what they said I would get through.I guess they just want you to sit on your hands for months and do nothing about your health until you get the privilege of seeing them, if you can manage to get past the cancellations of you as a patient. What an absolute mess. I would never recommend a place that treats their patients like such garbage.
scott spray: It took a while to schedule the appointment (originally a bad review on here from me), but after I got on the schedule I am happy to say that the experience could not have been better. The staff and the facilities were amazing. In my post anesthesia haze I actually said "you all are so nice, I wish I could get a colonoscopy every day"... I am glad they didn't take me up on it, but am more than happy to update my previous review to reflect my satisfaction with Grand River Gastro.
Right On Track: billing mistake - lied about a diagnostic code, currently trying to reach this outfit to explain the MEDICAL FRAUD
Annie lynn-le: I went here on July 12th to see a Dr for my continued side ache. Honestly speaking I wasn't expecting the greatest service due to reading alot of negative reviews on here, their website. But I went with low expectations. Upon arrival I was greeted & the receptionist was very nice. I didnt have to wait at all I was called right on the appt time exactly, which was awesome. I went in the room and met with a nurse practioner named Tiffany R. She listened to me quite intently. I went into great detail of the pain I've been experiencing for some time now. She was very nice. She made me feel very comfortable and gave me the time to explain alot. I was more than happy and satisfied with the service I recieved. She gave me some direction on a few issues & schuduled me for some future tests to try to figure out whats wrong with me. I dont know why they recieved low marks but I can tell you to give this place a try or at least Tiffany. Im very hopeful that they will find out whats wrong with me or at the very least help me feel better. This place is small but comfortable and clean. Very nice staff, polite for sure, & in this day & age that means alot. They listen to my concerns & helped me understand some things already. Bottom line dont judge a book by its cover. I did and I was wrong . Happy with the care I received. Ty for a great experience with a good practioner that showed she cared.
Todd Deppe: This place is a complete shitshow. (No pun intended) My doctor gave me a referral for a colonoscopy and I called them and left several messages and never heard back. From the other reviews, I think I'm glad I never heard back. Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your time calling this place.
Charlene Lowrey: Office workers seem to run this practice, and not well. If you make them mad you will not get scheduled they will even send letter that dr. will not see you any longer. Dr. had no idea that they did this. They are ruining this places reputation.
Andrea Roberts: Awful establishment. Do not waste your time. In the 2 years that I have been having my issues I have only been able to see an actual doctor twice. At each appointment they told me I need to schedule 8 week follow ups, however both times was told “they would call me as their schedule was not out that far”. Both times 8 weeks came and went with no phone call. When I called to schedule the follow up I was told they had no openings for 3 months. I even had the supervisor Tina involved. She got me in sooner then the 3 months and told me to arrive at 4pm sharp. When I arrived the office was getting ready to close. The lights in all of the exam rooms were turned off and the staff told me I wasn’t on the schedule for that day. I explained to them that Tina made the appointment for me and told me to be here at this time. They went and spoke to the supervisor who had no recollection of ever speaking to me and asked me to “refresh her memory” I again explained the entire situation and eventually was seen that day. I again was told I needed to schedule an 8 week follow up and that “I would be called” ….3 months later still no call. This is the most incompetent medical office I have ever been in. Absolutely unacceptable and poor patient care.
Michael: Called to schedule an appointment, they never called back after 2 weeks. Finally saw a doctor and I was supposed to get a CT scan. 2 weeks later no call about the scan appointment. I called back only to find out the doctor never put in for the scan. I'm now fighting to get that appointment. Unbelievably incompetent. Let's hope it isn't life threatening or else adios amigos for me.

Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Pediatric Gastroenterology: what do users think?
Diana: They have been great to work with over the years of my child’s Crohns thus far.
Chris Roggen: Excellent service. We were given options. Discussed plan of care with us. Asked questions to make sure we understood.
Danielle Rosenow: I wish I could share that we had a better experience with Devos GI. We also see 11 other specialties at Devos (and continue to see those other 11 specialists at Devos), but GI stands out, and not for good reasons. We tried to work with the GI department for almost three years, since we have and continue to have our other specialists at Devos. I dragged my feet at transferring, but our experience at Mott (Ann Arbor) has been like night and day. Our Mott GI doctor is much more knowledgeable of my son's conditions, and Mott dietician is much more knowledgeable and willing to spend time with us discussing my son's dietary needs, and more willing to explore a variety of options. Mott also sends scripts to the DME in a timely manner. If your child does not follow textbook diagnoses or if you don't want to do the doctor's and dietician's job yourself, save yourself the trouble and go directly to Mott.

Gastroenterology Specs PC: what do users think?
Sherrie Lasher: The entire office is wonderful and makes an unpleasant experience a positive experience. I've been going to the office for around 16 years and highly recommend him and his office.
Fred Ehrmann: Underwent Colonoscopy today everything was great. The receptionist, the nurses, and of course Dr. John Papp Jr. were fantastic. Big thanks to them all. Fred Ehrmann.
Janna Carson: Had a GREAT experience here! I was nervous at first to get my procedure done for the first time but the fact that my family is familiar with Dr. Papp Jr. and the nurses, staff etc. made it ten times better! Everything about it went smoothly from the prep at home to leaving recovery. They were professional, thorough, efficient and very personable, talking to me about my career as a veterinary nurse and making conversation. We were able to laugh at the fact that I'm one of their youngest patients to get a colonoscopy. Bedside manner and how you treat your patients on a personal level while staying focused on your job is huge and they were perfect through it all.Thank you Dr. Papp, Kaitlin (spelling?), Wendy and Jane (I think? Obviously my memory is off haha) for making me feel comfortable and making my experience go smoothly!
SM Fox: The woman at the front desk as I sit here (6/26, 11:30am) in the waiting room is as horrible to everyone else as she was to us when we walked in. So rude I had to stop and type a review. As I sit here people of all races are coming and going and you can clearly tell her difference in attitude of her “greeting” with a Mexican man (her first words to him, “do you have paperwork?”). We walked in the office 4 mins late (but 26 mins ahead of our appointment, and we waited 10 mins after we got here) and literally the first thing she said to us is...”you’re late”. Here for a colonoscopy which isn’t the greatest thing to do, at the very LEAST you could be greeted nicely. At the very least. Some people are made for front desk duties, some people not. Just bummed how I listen to her treat the Mexican man. I hope this isn’t a daily occurrence. I wouldn’t recommend this office based on what I am experiencing just sitting here.

Peter Freswick, MD: what do users think?
Shelby M: We saw Dr Freswick today for the first time. He is a truly compassionate doctor who is amazing with kids. He brought light heartedness to an uncomfortable topic in a professional and compassionate way. I would recommended him to anyone looking for a GI specialist for their kiddos. We were very impressed with him and had a great visit.
Hayley Allen: I thought Dr Freswick was good he's really good at the office but he let's the woman in his office do his job which they don't know how to do. My son has had 3 different tubes for a year now and nothing has been done.
Jen Kramer: Dr Freswick is wonderful! Very knowledgeable. We never feel rushed during visits. We are blessed to be close to DeVos and great doctors like Peter.
Jennifer Crampton: Dr. Freswick explains things so that we understand all of the options. He is amazing and I would recommend him!
Tara Emery: Dr freswick was so amazing. He answered ALL of my questions. I’d say he spent a good 45 minutes in the room with my daughter and I asking questions and making a plan! Walking out of Devos I felt so good that we had a plan in place and we were on the road to recovery! He is great! Highly recommend!
