Mel Trotter Ministries: what do users think?
Denise C. Schmidt: First time to the store! Beautifully clean store, well organized and of course, inexpensive. Very friendly and helpful staff. I’ll be back!
Beastboy Gamerr4200: Do they allow couples to sleep together cause I have a newborn babe and me and my gf ant married yet
FamilyGh: A five shelter that didn't cut it like the rest of them. They need the news channel in there.
Mail Private: Shared a bunkbed with another person. We had a bathroom to ourselves. Not a Hotel but sure beats any other shelter.
Michael Smith: May the Grace and Peace of our Saviour Jesus Christ be with everyone.
SJ WJ: We used to love Mel Trotter. Always something there for us. However, I was looking at a desk that had the sliding pricing, and after xxx date, the desk would be $15.99 (a good price as the desk was in pretty bad condition and needed serious sanding and refinishing). We went in a couple of weeks after that date just to shop around, and imagine my surprise when that exact same desk was in the display window priced at $75.99! This was about the time that all of their prices were marked up to obscene prices. We will not shop there, nor will we donate there any more. Huge rip-off for donated, thrift shop items.I know it's "for a good cause" but if no one will shop there because of the prices, are you money ahead or money BEHIND?
Allison Eischer: Great organization that deeply cares for the community!
Murtiag (Murt): We had some furniture picked up from our house, and they ripped the power line off of the side of our house, and then damaged the furniture and the house (ripping a door hinge out of the wall and destroying the frame), and didn't make much of an effort with the repairs.Their stores are the most expensive thrift stores in the area. They're not compassionate toward the homeless.Need more be said of a ministry?
Devin Dely: Proud to be a part of the aweseome staff and mission here. This place has grown so much in just the two and a half years I've been here, and it's so reassuring to see that each new change is considered with the guests' best interest and dignity at heart. That makes me proud to work here, which isn't something I can say about every organization I've worked for. The relationships I've been able to build with the people we serve has been a blessing.
Johnny Brammer: When I needed a blanket they could not do it the staff said. I needed shelter and the works program. I couldn't get help. They say a lot but did little. All I got is a mell trotter I'd card.
Aalarion Libbett: This place is made for white people if your not white the staff are extremely racist
Sean Richardson: Do not trust these ppl, thay will lie to u. I had a meeting with the heads of all the dept. And still have tex to prove it. I was told to leave my hotel room to come there. When I got there thay told me I could be there. Then my case worker sent me some were else and went on vacation and never reached out to me the whole time I was there. I went there looking for help for me and my son. Thay told me I should just worry about my self. Again have tex to prove it. Not only that every night there was a stranger sleeping in my bed. Thay told me to get over it. Thay only want government money the whole time I had a job and thay still didn't help only gas lighted me.will be going to New and Social media to prove every thing I'm saying.
Jessica Gutierrez: Does this mission allow married couples to be together? Me and my Husband are homeless and don't want to separate because separation isn't an option for us...
Lucci Brasko: I stayed there years ago in 2018 they made us pay for meals with EBT or cash do they still do that?
Ginny Gessler: 7.99 for a hot wheel? Really? Clothing is overpriced and so is everything else.
Lita Sandy: I don't know what these people are thinking. Unless you are looking for the typical clothing - as MOST of these thrifts get by on, FORGET IT. Overpriced on hard goods or collectibles.
Kevin Stephens: I had to stay two nights at Mel Trotter leaving Muskegon, I had two wait on train or bus fare too get back too Illinois, it was below zero, and Mel Trotter really helped me ,I appreciate the Beautiful State of Michigan helping me in a time of need January 13th I'll never forget, and my promise to Michigan is I'll be back to help
RICHARD Glover: It's better now that there remolding however the overflow staff bathroom is horrible and needs to be removed from the shower area. Black mold, plus security needs to fix the taking other people beds, they also need more sheets, blankets and towels and pillow cases
Robert Fowler: Was there for 5 days. Tested positive for covid. I have no symptoms but they send me to the old hope house and put me in a room with a nasty dude who has multiple symptoms. I could die but trotters keeps filling their coffers. Being 57 with underlying health issues I take this seriously. I am a Diabetic
Mike Hite: Ran into one of the Mel Trotter Case managers at Meijer's (Demarco L.), what a humble, well informed individual with a heart for the ministry! Always willing to serve, even when off the clock. Thanks Demarco for your service!

Exodus Place: what do users think?
Aquarius Tarot: This is not a place for homeless to go, this is for people out of jail. Not homeless shelter in any way shape or form. Do not donate.
Jim Tuuk: Exodus Place is a wonderful place that shows the love of Christ to those that need a place to stay and a hand up!
NORTH STAR: Helpful staff
Aunt Tia: I think many are put off by the institutional feel however, they provide a valuable service to an unpopular part of society. It's up to each individual what they make of it. Grateful that the option exists for those who need it.
Mateah Schleben: An amazing mens transitional house facility. It’s a great program with great amenities: case management, medical staff, spiritual staff, barber shop, gym, point store, work force development and more!
Nicolai Minsk: Not homeless shelter !Only helps Ex Cons. Not the needy. But the criminals.
Herman Faceson: Okay! if you like that's lifestyle. But not my idea as a homeless, shelter.
Yung Lova: im sure alot of people make up their reviews because I called for assistance and was put on hold for 2 hours before I hung up called again and was sent to someone else that let it ring and go to voicemail. its an emergency but im sure nobody cares
Kenneth Miller: Friendly atmosphere. A place to organize, reprioritize, and gain a positive life direction.
Joshua Young: They do try to help men coming out of prison or are homeless by referring them to community resources to get them the help they need and we do have a good work force development program
Steve Hinkle: They're helping a lot of men get their lives back. May the Lord bless their efforts!
Jimmie Stancil: Its ok
John Lecureux: Don't go here it's falling apart and they ain't doing nothing to fix it
Maiku Wakai (Mike): I have a friend there. They do a lot for those who need a safe place to live, during tough times. Just, depressingly, institutional to me.
Joshua Mcnabb: I think this place should be a model of places elsewhere..I cant help but judge how people and the city im in takes care of people on the slide of life..go there do what your supposed to and they do their part which is alot.....so if you cant fit in here you are the problem ..great staff..and if no one else says Thank You i will ...
Deborah Fawcett: Wonderful program. Amy is awesome. The men are very helpful. Thank you all
Corey Guigelaar: Great place for men who don’t want to go to a shelter. Food, laundry, stuff to do, a barber, health care and a deck that overlooks the river.
Craig Lewis: Not a place I care to visit
belinda henderson: What a wonderful place to visit, I got a tour of the garden area and met Amy and the staff made plans to come back and be a garden coach for them..
Larry Collins: Know nothing about Exodus
john scoggins: Nice staff

Family Promise of Grand Rapids: what do users think?
Greg Samel: This is not the company to work for as a subcontractor. They may do well in the office, but not out in the field.Never have we subcontracted work and had our invoices treated with such little regard. Invoices from the field appear to be turned in whenever this guy feels like it.They start off good with payments and their field supervisor let's it fall apart.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!
Taylor Waldschmidt: Honestly, I would probably give them 0 stars if that was an option. We were “kicked out” of their program for another family harassing us. The excuse they gave us, even though they had evidence on security cameras of this family kicking in our door and putting hands on me, was that our family is easier to house because it’s only 3 of us. So my 1 year old and myself are now sleeping outside their program.Honestly, Kayla and Cassandra are the least helpful “case managers.”
angie phillips: Everyone I mean everyone the staff, the churches and volunteers work tirelessly to help you and your family. The love and support for their families is out of this world. They have spent many sleepless nights to do everything needed to get the word out about homelessness and to achieve reasonable solutions now and in the future. They are willing to advocate until homelessness is not a critical issue and Everyone has a place to call home.I've supported family promise for over 12 yrs now- won't you start today and be a part of the difference we can make for one another. Thank you
Donnie Goree: Not helping to people
Jessica donaldson: Amazing people helped me and my kids get off the streets God bless them 🙏 ❤
NORTH STAR: Very helpful! They don't help disabled people.
Queen Things: To the person reading this I just wanna say be encouraged don’t give up your breakthrough is coming
Tonya Green: When I say that God is in the midst of this organization, that's exactly what I mean🙌these employees do an awesome job with lots of care,no one looks down on you and no one tries to belittle you, I'm thankful that I got a chance to meet such good people.
Ebony cones: Awesome organation. Helps family's in transition from homelessness, food, shelter, housing. Resources, an many moreDonations are accepted to helpThank youFamily promise for all your help an support
Dora Williams: I like family promise, because they help a lot of families, that are poor, and homeless, so i think, they sre a good organization for people, that are in need
Katrine Coleman: This agency does awesome things for the community a God sent
amy collea: I was very unfortunate to ever get involved with family promise. I received one of their "restored" manufactured home through their partners in housing program. The place was disgusting!! It was full of black mold, water damage and rot, etc. The program won't fix anything, let alone do it right. Please don't donate to them. They hide behind the non profit shield,. They are worse than slum lord's.
thomas ralston: Good people doing good work.
Heather Walker: That strip mall allure
Robert Smedley: Donate all your household items and furniture to this organization. They help get families back into a home, and they are good at it. If you can't drive a couch over to them no worries they will come and pick it up from your house. Very good organization that everyone in Grand Rapids should support.
mike bolling: Thay do everything you don't want them to do if they would only listened Would not have been homeless for over a year
Kory Gill: I love this place
Danielle Richards: Great People And Organization They Really Help I am Now A Survivor Of Domestic Abuse And Homelessness
Christina Artis: Helpful and a very great place.
Arianna: Love Family Promise, they helped my daughter and I get our own little place to call home
Latrice Powell: Truly a great organization, Family Promise goes above and beyond to help families in need!!!

Dégagé Ministries: what do users think?
Alex Zock: Love to help!
Tara Chinn: Christian believes
Carlos Montgomery: Went to get a new ID for free. When you first walk in the guard at the door is very rude but once I got passed him it made the experience much better
Ashataie hopkins: I was kick out for no exact reason all bc I trying to move out at. Toxic environment don't get with this company they don't care what situation you going through

Antonio Parker: Good place to go to.
Paul Townsend Lamb: New renovations are almost complete…stay tuned for updates.
karen garcia: Hello everyone it was my pleasure and honor to be able to stay here at degage for 5 months I just loved all the staff and the cooks playing bingo was my number 1 game I loved my fingers painted 8 or 9 years ago them were the days I ment alot of beautiful cool people I miss you all degage ... God bless you all ...Karen Garcia:) :) :)
Douglas Goff: Bravo De'gag'e I've been going for more then 20 years and what used to be a little run down over crowded very noisy place to eat and catch up on the gossip the coffee used to really suck I mean bad......stail donuts etc. Now oh boy what a change its bigger and better in every aspect except the coffee.
Tammy Oaks: Very nice staff there, and very kind.
Bryan Lanz: Umm)) good food for 2$
RENE L.: I have to say this organization has completely lost my faith in them. I was homeless for a brief period in 2014 and this organization helped me greatly. And I appreciated it so much that when I became stable again in 2015-17 I volunteered their for almost 2 year's. Now again my depression has affected my life making me homeless again and sadly almost all my experiences here in the last few months have been negative. The current staff is a mixed bag a few still treat you with compassion and respectfully. But a good majority seem to be bigots and/or racist. These are personal observations as well not second hand from things I've observed. Especially with the kitchen staff. Who seem to have trouble getting along with each other so they turn their disdain and anger on patrons. If I worked at restaurant and insulated a patron in front of the entire restaurant I would be fired on the spot. Yet these people do it multiple times a shift and still stay employed. After my visit yesterday for dinner where the black woman cashier treated me so rudely and in such a way that almost everyone in the dining room stared. I will never eat here again. As I left quit angry several other patrons were like don't worry about it. Or you'll get used to it. BUT you shouldn't have to get used to it. Especially when an organization's tag line includes the words "by treating people with dignity and respect!" I spoke to her respectfully and she talked to me like a disobedient dog. This is the 3rd time she's done so and the straw that broke the camel's back.Hopefully people in charge here will remember the Degagé mission statement and bring back the respect and dignity because as it stands now it's lacking. Don't get me wrong there are good people here but sadly enough bad to tip the balance to the negative.Update 9-12: I have decided that I will not return here for any service. Because apparently now appearance is Degagé's only policy. They were having a meeting this morning so the cancelled some services including shower's. After all we can't have people coming in that may donate seeing real homeless people. I still laugh about how they had hired actor's to pretend to be homeless for background during the grand opening news pieces.MANY people rely on the shower service here especially since there is only 1 other place for displaced people to get a shower on the weekend and many people avoid that organization. When I was asking the nice lady Crystal why their was no notices posted about this the black gentleman security guard sitting a few feet away got up and told me "Don't do that!" apparently saying Degagé doesn't allow freedom of speech. And asking questions or voices dissatisfaction is not allowed. I wasn't yelling or shouting or being at all rude but he treated me as if I was. He said no one knew about the meeting until this morning and when they found out they announced shower's we're cancelled. That announcement came at 9:40 am. 40 minutes after shower's are supposed to be available.Oddly 2 of the female patrons that use the woman's shelter said they were told last night in the morning they would have to store away bed frames. Because of a meeting in the morning. But either way apparently no one even after being informed could take a few minutes to print a couple notices and post them. They need to take down that big fancy sign expressing their moto. Because I see zero faith and even less dignity or respect for patrons
Catherine taylor: I have Ben there in the past and the staff are very helpful and they help people with a lot of resources and I would recommend other people to get the help they need here
Michael Waldron: They’re improving every day. They do very good work.
Harley Aldridge (HarleyAnnAldridge1): Won't recommend going here for any help unless the volunteers like you. They've refused to help me and I've had important mail delivered to that location for 4 years now and haven't received any of it.
Larry S Olthoff (DJ insane): Good place good stuff but it is on division where there's a lot of drug addicts and alcoholics around all the time
Diane Lanesky: This is Not a pic of Degage
Erica Chittenden: This is a great mission...
RICHARD Glover: The staff that works on second floor are Great the client not so much. They don't help with bus tickets or anything besides coffee is quater and a free 🍩 breakfast is 2.00
Jen: This place is a Valuable Asset to the Community. They provide Many services to the Homeless Community and to low income families. Meals, Showers, Mail service, Hair cuts and shelter. You have to call to find out what services they provide. Very Friendly people who seem to Honestly Care about people. 😁
D' SHAWN VANCE-JAMISON: Helps the homeless community. Short staffed, so delays. But, they help my city. I haven't had to use them, but I know they are there if I need...

Well House: what do users think?
Flipp Moodfeloniexxx: Great place
Leslie Henton: Great place for my friend to call home
Joanna Brown: There staff there are very caring and are willing too go above and beyond to help.
Jenifer Jackson: This organization works very hard at being diligent to serve people with respect and dignity. Creating housing for people who truly have a need. Just amazing work
Michael Tuffelmire: This is a fabulous housing first organization. That means the organization believes that the best solution to homelessness is to provide stable housing for people. Once they have stable housing then you can deal with the root causes they have caused housing issues. The staff at this nonprofit organization are highly dedicated. This organization also practices a sustainability model utilizing local farming and other sustainable techniques that add to the quality of the organization.
Fletcher Reliford III: Great organization. Excited about Housing Opportunity at Well House. The staff was very, friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
David VanDyken: There doing a great service in are city
Lee Little: Well house is the greatest opportunity for a person that's thinks life doesn't think life offers much. But as soon as you get in touch with well house. You will see that it's well house that makes America great again!
01eash: Excellent place for those in our community who are ready to move forward in life and can look here for an affordable housing option
Jade Jamison: I love what they represent thinking about doing the same business someday
Ginger W (ChronicChocobo): This was a wonderful place to volunteer for. They get people into low income hoses and they also have gardens to grow food for them.
Phyllis Boynton: It is a blessing to have a place to call home and feel supported too.

Shepherds of Independence: what do users think?
Joel Ickes: Dignifying care.
Just Me: This so-called independent living facility for individuals with mental illness and physical disabilities needs to be shut down immediately as this establishment is unlicensed. My brother was allowed to suffer at this facility for over a year with no assistance being given for his declining mental state. My brother was found deceased in the building and the manager, Angie Fleming was dishonest with information regarding what actually happened to my brother. We as his family were told that staff members were not present at the time my brother was in distress and Ms. Fleming went so far as to claim that other residents were the only people around when my brother passed away. However, I was able to obtain the incident report from the ambulance and it contradicts claims made by Ms. Fleming and the owner, Jim Miller. The ambulance reports states staff was present when my brother was seen staggering and in distress. On February 20, 2019, my mom received a phone call from Ms. Fleming stating that "something happened" to my brother and he was found without a pulse. It took paramedics 45 minutes to get a pulse from my brother. Based on my research and speaking with the emergency doctor who cared for my brother upon his arrival, I was informed that my brother was "Dead On Arrival" and he had little to no brain activity. Shepherds of Independence claims that my brother was still alive upon leaving the facility due to having a pulse, however the pathologist who performed his autopsy stated to my mom that he was dead no less than 10 to 12 hours before arriving at the hospital.I stated to Ms. Fleming that I didn't like my brother was taking several different medications and I was told by her in front of my mom and one of my brothers, that my brother's mental state had been declining for a year. I was also told that my brother would scream so loud and hit his head every day to the point that others would hear his screams from his bedroom which was on the 3rd floor. My brother was allowed to suffer and no staff member thought it was a good idea to inform either one of my parents.Instead of taking accountability for my brother's passing and previous suffering, Ms. Fleming took low blows at my family as if she knows us personally. My brother's room was barely bigger than a closet and his mattress was beat up and had a big hole in it. He was being overcharged and had to pay $600 a month for a small bedroom with a run-down bed. These people are dishonest and exploit the individuals who live here. The place was dirty, unkempt, and the stairway smelled of urine. The food fed to residents was slop.I had conversations with Ms. Fleming via Facebook Messenger and she was disrespectful over the internet, however she never had that same energy in person. She's disrespectful, rude, and apathetic. She needs to be fired. My family was called "crappy" by Ms. Fleming. There is a payee below who wrote a positive review about this place in an effort to counter people's claims about this horrible facility. She, too has made negative comments about my family in an effort to cover up the fact that this facility is not what it appears to be. This place needs to be shut down ASAP.
Donna Lynema-Buchanan: Never return your 📞
Susi Bart: Often rude, disrespectful, inhospitable, unskilled and just plain unkind behavior and remarks of staff toward many of the physically and mentally disabled residents (and family members))! Unprofessional! no working pay phone or land line phone for the residents to use. no working clocks on the walls, locked doors often throughout the building so some of the residents can't get out, nor can family visiting get in, crummy beds and mattresses in the rooms. furniture that has it's cushions flipped up most of the time so no one can sit down including residents. No activities for the residents! You might know, a "professional guardian" below gave them a"good review "unlike the rest of the reviews!Figures! Most professional guardians are lucky if they actually see their ward maybe 2 or 3 times per year for just a few minutes, (or less), and that's if they try! Probably not a whole lot of "in house" observation going on here with this review.- To say most families have "turned their backs" on their handicapped loved one to this location/outfit .that often probate legal guardians have placed them here, as Queen Elizabeth would say: "paleeeeze"! ! Yes, in "the system" families are frequently referred to, in a very derogatory manner! SO disrespectful!Truth be known, families have been "bullied and run off" this property and are downright afraid to return for most part!Shame on the owners for such a "low skilled, fear based run" crummy room furniture room/board for the mentally and physically disabled!- It's 2021! HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT "UPDATING"??
Deb Schmenk: I have been involved with Shepherds for many years as a Court appointed Guardian, Servants Center has housed many people here over the years. The staff is exceptional and cares about the residents, they serve and love them well. In most cases, family has turned there backs on clients for a variety of reasons. They are provided with shelter, meals and so much more. Can not say enough about how the staff, love this population, giving them dignity and equipping them to their capacity. Thank you Angie, Jim, Edna, Michelle, Elsa and the countless volunteers who serve. 💗
Carla Clark: Not so good
Jami Hicks: Food isn't good, and it's not very clean. Also has roaches.
