David: It's a nice showroom, and I do assign some value to that. However, their pricing is off the rails. My wife recently purchased a ceiling fan here, and the same EXACT fan retails for nearly 35% less at every online retailer that sells ceiling fans. It was a Kichler brand fixture, so nothing terribly unique or rare. Just costs a ton more at Grand Rapids Lighting.I'm not lying when I tell you that for the price difference, I could have purchased the fixture online, then paid a licensed electrician to install it, and STILL come out ahead.We returned the fixture. I like to support local retailers, but my loyalty has limits.

When I asked to see the ceiling fans, I was escorted to the area and then abandoned, despite having a lot of questions. I saw a number of light fixtures that may have worked. However, the lack of attentiveness of the staff encouraged me to shop elsewhere.

He said would probably be a better value to replace the whole light- which is fine! I’m pretty sure I’ll do that.I went into the store instead of shopping online because I wanted to support a local business and was disappointed to be treated like that.

Tim VanAntwerp: Ok, the good. 1.5 hours from home. 5 light fixtures purchased. They were in stock. We drove home with the fixtures.. The bad.. The store was busy. We had to work with two different reps to complete our task. Fixtures are expensive, but they offered a discount. Who knows? The ugly: One fixture was damaged, repaired finish at home. Fixtures came with lamps...why did I spend $60 for lamps...oh well...spares. Overall 4.5 stars. We got fixtures, installed them, and its done. One trip. In stock. Yes I would recommend the Grand Rapids Lighting Center.

A Kahrs: The service I received was less than average. For a company that’s been around and in my neighborhood my entire life, I was expecting something else. For brevity, I’ll summarize that I brought in two lamps for repair on a weekend. I received a quote over the phone the following week and I carefully explained what I wanted. Three weeks go by and I never received a call back so finally I reached out to figure out what was going on. It turned out that they just never called me…When I picked up the repaired lamps, I paid *full price* for one lamp that had a used (very obviously used) non-functional part added to it and a socket that wasn’t the color/finish I specifically discussed over the phone and thought I was getting. Unfortunately, the other lamp came back with a *significant scratch* on the base that occurred while it was in The Lighting Corner’s possession. Perhaps they thought I wouldn’t notice these things? I’m not entirely sure how it was this bad. It is really disappointing service and not an experience I’d recommend. Based on other reviews I’ve read, I’d say theres a trend of this kind of poor service here.

Even through a pandemic and many unknowns, they always kept us in the loop and did their absolute best to give top notch service. The lights themselves are all holding up beautifully. Even with one minor flaw on a light (that we very much could have lived with), they were happy to replace it immediately. We couldn’t be happier. You will not be disappointed to give them your business!

Michele Greer: Horrible service!!! The gal behind the counter was much more interested in socializing with her co-worker than helping us. She spent enough time stating and whispering than actually coming out behind the counter. We were very specific in explaining what we wanted. Never did she offer suggestions. We asked if a spot on the shade was lint or actual dirt...she thought lint but never so much as attempted to remove it. Too bad as there were many items on our list. We went 12 minutes down the road to Kendall Electric. They were thrilled to show us where items were, answered all our questions, made a $700 sale with double that in another order.
