The Women's Center: what do users think?
Mandi Belmont: Some days you’ll get good staffing in the triage area, but the day time nurses and midwives usually are very rude and will talk about all the patients where you can hear them. I’m currently on my 5th child and would have hoped that in 4 years they would have gotten better with their bedside manner, but they haven’t. I’m prone to preterm labor and will often get contractions that come and go until changes start to happen. Last visit in (which was suggested by my doctors office) the midwife, Emily Quiney, tried to say I was “faking” my contractions and was accusing me of pushing on the TOCO monitor just because my contractions weren’t as consistent and dying off. It’s disgusting to throw such accusations around and more disgusting to gossip about patients loudly so others can hear. Pretty sure that’s a HIPPA violation. To the small handful of staff members who are polite and considerate, I do appreciate their hard-work and making sure things are always taken care of. I know it can be stressful dealing with expecting mothers from all gestational ranges and histories, but I would like to see more of the good staffing and less of the attitude and confrontational behavior. It’s stressful enough being in there when we are sent by our offices, we do not need the staff to make it worse.
Global Trust Solutions: I like the way housekeeping folds the TP, it's very fancy.
Marissa Saldana: Had my 3rd and last baby here at 23 yrs old and it was the best delivery I’ve had!! All staff was excellent and they treated myself and baby like family!!❤️
Taylor Little: Adv obgyn w Sarah lagrand n the whole nursing staff 5 stars
Moya Izardui: Muchas gracias por atender ami esposa.
Nicole Brown: It's the best!
Kristine A: Great doctors. Had a good delivery experience with my first child.
Andrew Ostema: Best place you can be in Michigan. Your in good hands on the medical mile.
Joy Schultz: The nurses where very good! Labor was long and hard. After pushing for several hours and our baby not being born we had to go for a C section. All the staff were great and did their best to comfort me. The nurse I had in labor and delivery also went into surgery with me and I was very thankful for that.Over all this was a very good place to have my son!
Josh Smith: Best doctors and nurses I've ever met. So glad we had Vivian at spectrum.

Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital: what do users think?
Mariyam Punawala: All good
Quentin Moon: I had my RNS surgery by Dr.Burdette, Dr.Ali, and the rest of his team. They were really good to me throughout all of the testing and, up to month long eegs. I'm glad all that's finally over though and I had my surgery. Which has helped already to reduce my seizures, and the severity of them when I do have a breakthrough. .
Chalice Belliel: I gave birth to my first baby here, it was an amazing experience, tleveryone was so caring helpful and got done what needed to be done I had an amazing nurse named ash, and Dr Johnson was a heaven sent. They followed my no man rule as I have ptsd and I cannot recommend them enough!
TJ David: Our buddy smashed his face on a sidewalk & Nurse Jackie in the ER did a phenomenal job of helping us.
Bellasima Poloski Valentina: The building & parking is confusing. However, random staff members throughout the hospital were more than happy to give directions inside. They took great care of my son during his surgery. Note: make sure to take your parking ticket inside to get validated or prepare to pay a hefty fee.
Debbie Sain: This is a terrible place !!! My mom went there she fell and had a broken hip and 2 places in her wrist . Surgery on Easter Sunday. The first day she was being treated so bad she called crying and screaming for help. They sat her in a chair for over a hour and ignored her call button for help for over one hour. She called me in severe pain and they wouldn’t answer her button . The nurses were the rudest people I have seen . Mom couldn’t walk or barley move. In Things got worse from there. They continued to treat her bad. Left her food she couldn’t reach it several times . Moved her phones she couldn’t answer her family . Then she was in there 6 days and never allowed her to brush her teeth, clean up or brush her hair . This was right down unexceptional!!!!! They should be held accountable for one of the worst experiences mom and family has had !!! Beware don’t take a loved one in this torture chamber !!!!!!!!
Donna Kapala: They are terrible at returning families phone calls. I left multiple messages with questions about my family member who is a patient, I am on her HIPPA, as well as having medical poa.
Jay petroelje: Went here with my fiancé as he had a bug in his ear and was told nothing was there went to the urgent care on alpine and there was a bug in the ear that the hospital “didn’t see”
loren schultz: Most unprofessional staff I have encountered.starting with the security guards up to the dr’s. Sad situation for the city of Grand Rapids, MI.
Erin Hiebert: I feel bad for those who had a negative experience here. I had excellent care when I came in for skin cancer surgery. Everyone from the nurses to the surgeon were beyond kind and caring. Little things like extra pillows, offering me ginger ale, wheeling me to a room earlier than scheduled because I had to use the restroom (it was that or a bed pan, which I honestly didn't care either way). The parking can be a little confusing, but I've lived in a bigger city with more convoluted directions before -- comes with the territory of growing medical campuses.
Patsy Littlefield: Went there by ambulance after I had fallen and hit my head and torso on my bathtub. I was in horrendous pain with blood by my ear, not sure where is was coming from. I was eventually told I had a brain bleed, and a partially collapsed lung, but no broken bones. I was sent him with two days of pain medication. I told them I was in disbelief that my bones were not broken, and out the door I went. I was encouraged to see my doctor on Monday. I was unable to see my doctor because of the pain level I was at, and consequently no medications were given. I checked the portal and read what I had been told in the ER. Later on that same day I went in to read their diagnosis to a family member. The report was totally changed and stated I had NO signs of injury. At this point I was very confused and made an appointment with a totally new doctor close to my home. Upon making it to the “new” doctor, I was advised that I had multiple fractures! I was enduring intolerable pain all this time, taking Tylenol after the ER meds. were gone. It was inhumane. I was then sent to Osteopathic Surgeons of West Michigan, and told I needed surgery. You pay top $, so go somewhere that knows what they are doing!!!!
CHERYL: Our daughter was in ICU for two days and then to 7th floor. We cannot choose just one great nurse and staff, EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS GREAT!! That is by far the best hospital we have ever experienced. For all of the staff to be so kind and compassionate, that speaks volumes for this hospital. Wouldn’t want her to ever go anywhere else!!
Jeff Hankinson: My one and only complaint is the lack of respect from family and/or friends in the surgical waiting room. For the love of God take your phone conversations out to the hallway, or go somewhere as private as possible. If that’s not an option, then have the decency to talk quietly because no one wants to hear your damn one-sided (loud) conversation or listen to your call on speaker when it is, and should be, a private and discreet matter. Respect for others has disappeared, and that’s beyond pathetic. People are disgusting. Please ban phones in the waiting room and designate a specific area for these situations. Then again, a simple text message works wonders as long as your phone is on vibrate and others don’t have to hear the tones everywhere.
Sulie Cervera: This hospital have me traumatize. I feel like all they doing is experience and testing on babies and older adults. Nurses going out the country and returning the next day and being around sick or premature babies in the Nicu. Adults ha they just leave them there to rotten. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE!
Robert Robbins: was highly disappointed on the quality of care I received since March 1, 2023.The communication was not accurate or consistent. I had a resident wish me luck with a ribcage removal which was not scheduled and nurse was not aware that a NPO was not inplace for an IR nerve block. When asked never once did any staff if I was NPO.it turns out I was and was unable to receive the nerve ablation.I am beyond anger over this situation. For a world class operation you should be highly embarrassed. Thanks to IR Nurse Elsa I will receive the procedure on this Friday. I only need to endure 2 more days.I can't thank her enough.
Kylee M. Tamminga: Nurses and doctors are great but billing department is awful. So many issues with them that it makes you never want to go to a spectrum office.
Dave: Five star nursing and services...Fifth floor..."Landmark" Building...Thanks...
Seldon Cupps (Seldor The Destroyer): Pretty nice hospital. They have nice staff as well.
Dyonne Washington: Absolutely the worst hospital ever. They treat you like an addict if your a minority.I will never ever support this place. It’s really sad how many people feel this way.
Kristine Heimler: My mother spent a week with this hospital. What a disappointment. No hot water for two days, so she had a COLD shower. Not one meal was even remotely warm. AND while in the ER her phone was stolen! Security said "sorry we can't help you". Corewell is not better or even close to the quality of what we deserve on the "medical mile"
Andy Anderson: VETERANS AVOID THIS PLACE! They have no experience dealing with the VA and veterans! Sent hubby’s RX ton the wrong number (I offered the fax number several times) andc when we got back to the VA to fill the RX, the pharmacy tried to call back to the ER bit of course spectrum was little help. Go to another ER

Grand Rapids Natural Birth and Pregnancy: what do users think?
tyla van staden: I can not recommend Raquel enough! This was such a beautiful journey we took together alone with the other two couples in the class. As first time parents to be, we learned an incredible wealth of knowledge from this course. I was initially planning to have a semi medicated birth but after this course I am confident in a non medicated natural birth. The birthing techniques, positions and partner support methods all gave me the encouragement that I need to go into this birth as peaceful and prepared as I can be. Thank you Raquel for guiding us, and answering all the questions we had. I will forever recommend you to others 3
Claire Gatesy: Loved this class! Raquel was a wealth of information that was supported by facts and evidence. She was honest about the birthing journey and provided tools to help guide you through. I haven’t given birth yet but I’m expecting all this information to be helpful. Very responsive to emails and additional questions. I took the online version of the class and received new materials each week right on time. I highly recommend taking this class.
Nicole Zwiers: Raquel’s online birth class was exactly what my husband and I needed. We were free to move at our own pace, which was great since we started late in pregnancy. As first time parents, we learned so much information and the material sparked important conversations between us that helped us form our birth plan. To be honest, I wasn’t convinced about an unmedicated labor prior to the class, but Raquel helped convince us that we could prepare for it and that my body is built for it. Thank goodness we were so educated, as I experienced spontaneous labor two weeks early, and our baby girl was born in just three hours!! My husband was equipped to know we needed to rush to the hospital, getting us there just in time to push. I had no time to consider an epidural even if I’d wanted one, but I knew how to breathe between pushes and relax my body to conserve energy. Thanks, Raquel!
Amanda Larson: For anyone that is planning on a natural birth, I highly recommend this class! Raquel did a wonderful job making me feel empowered and educated about my pregnancy and upcoming labor. I feel much more confident going into my delivery after taking this class. I also loved that there was a hybrid option for our busy schedules!
Madison Swink: My husband and I took the Nurture Your Birth class from February-March, and we loved it. We both felt like we learned a lot. Unmedicated birth and the Bradley Method are key features of the class, but there is no judgment toward those planning on other options and the information is still very valuable. Raquel is an excellent instructor and answered so many of our questions. We’re so glad we took this class!
Reilly Kzeski: My favorite part of the class was that Raquel took the time to answer my questions thoughtfully and in detail. Her answers gave me clarity and confidence. I appreciate that this class was available online because my husband and I live an hour and a half from Grand Rapids. It was very informative especially for first time parents. We have gained knowledge and have applied the knowledge we have learned. We will continue to apply the techniques learned!
Binh Ha: As first time parents, my husband and I wanted to look for a birth and child care class to gain knowledge and experience. We came to know about the hybrid class instructed by Raquel and we did enjoy it. We especially loved the three in-person sessions in which we got to learn about the stages of labor, baby care, and breastfeeding. My husband and I felt completely confident about our birth plan and what to expect on the important day. My husband was the best support for me. I felt so lucky! I was able to have a natural hospital birth. Our experience with labor and the baby care from the start has been going smoothly and less challenging thanks to the tools and knowledge gained from the class. I would highly recommend this class to any parent. Thank you so much, Raquel!
Samantha Parker: WOW! This course(the hybrid birth course) and knowledge gained completely changed the trajectory of my birth and postpartum experience. I was able to have an empowered natural hospital birth. My husband and I felt completely informed and confident in our birth plan.Even the L&D nurse with 20+ years of experience said our birth was top three for how controlled and prepared we were. Breastfeeding was smooth from the start thanks to the tools and education from Raquel. This was such a comfort that I was able to nurse and nourish my baby from the beginning.Working with Raquel was as a joy, she truly cares about the outcome of her work and is incredibly knowledgeable in all areas offered. I can not recommend the services more! Thank you Raquel!
Abigail Massey: LOVED Raquel's class, and so appreciative of the information my husband and I learned. This isn't even our first child, and there was so much we learned from Raquel. She creates a very safe, very supportive environment, and she really cares!
Noelle Prince: I really enjoyed this course, especially the in-person classes. There is so much material provided to help us prepare, and I believe if you put in the work each week, you’ll feel way more prepared at the end of the class. This is my first pregnancy, and I already feel less stressed knowing what to expect during labor and birth. It also helped my husband learn the best ways to support me.
Elizabeth Sanborn: This is my first pregnancy and I had no clue what all I needed to know or expect. But after taking Raquel's online birthing classes I feel prepared and ready to do this thing! The best part about the online course is that I can go back and rewatch videos if I feel like I need them. I highly recommend Grand Rapids Natural Birth
Lydia VanWormer: I found Raquel through Le Leche League site and she had been a true blessing to my baby boy and I. I reached out to her while working through a tongue tie, poor latch, nipple pain and vasospasms. She has been so helpful, encouraging, and insightful and I have been so grateful to be able to lean on these qualities in her during a time of transition and new beginning for myself. She is truly a gem to our community and has truly been a light. From the minute she walked into my house, she brought a very nurturing energy and just felt like an oasis in the desert. And baby boy and I are really flying now on our breastfeeding journey!! 4 months old and exclusively breastfed, despite all the challenges. 3
Angela Clark: Raquel is fabulous! Highly recommend her class, especially the hybrid option which we did. As first time parents there are so many questions and unknowns. Her classes helped reassure both mom and dad. I appreciated her practical approach, with an open mind to focusing on the health of mom and baby. She gave dads helpful tips to consider, contemplate, and have handy to help mom and baby. The hybrid classes were a great balance of learning weekly at your pace, with 3 in person classes (labor, newborn care, and breastfeeding). Living an hour away this was a great option for us. Would highly recommend her class. Raquel is great :)
Kali Weeks: Raquel was phenomenal! We had to do classes online due to COVID (except the last three) and we still learned so much. She did great educating and encouraging us throughout each video and the extra materials were extremely helpful. My husband also feels way more empowered to support me during labor after these classes!
Nicole Redder: We learned so much with each new class. We were continually impressed with the new information each week. Prior to classes we had little knowledge on natural child birth. By the end of the classes we felt fully prepared for the natural child birth journey. We are thankful for the resources and advice provided throughout the course. Raquel was awesome. Highly recommend!
Matthew Koczur: As covid-19 made a fully in person class impossible, my wife and I were grateful to find and take the hybrid class with Raquel. It was a good experience, definitely worth the cost. The online material was well done and informative, and it was nice to be able to work at our own pace. The in person classes provided great opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback. Raquel was also willing to drive to our house if we would have been more comfortable with doing that for the in person classes. Highly recommend!
Karissa DeVries: Raquel has put so much heart and hard work into her classes and being able to teach us her birthing class online. Although she had technical difficulties with videos (not her fault) it continually was informative, she was open to questions, and she even gave her personal experiences as something we could learn from. I'm really glad and feel way better after taking her class. I think I'd be a nervous wreck without her help!Edit: I need to add that, post partum, I had trouble producing (at least in my eyes) enough milk for my little one that lost more weight than anticipated. With Raquel's help and advice, I was able to train my ducts into releasing more for my little one, and now she's on the gain, and so is my production of milk! Thank you SO MUCH, Raquel! You're the best, and I will return here if I have any trouble in the future. SO worth every minute!
Courtney Kozarian: I was so happy to find this hybrid birthing class in GR. I was really nervous about attending completely in person classes due to Covid and was relieved to find an alternative that provided me with both all the info I needed and peace of mind. Raquel is absolutely wonderful and was such a wealth of information, she also went above and beyond to secure a safe environment for us to meet in person. This class was worth every penny and I would highly recommend it to any expecting parents
Amy Oostveen: I attended these birthing classes to help prepare me for a V-Back for my second child - 9 years after my 1st! Raquel was amazing!!! She is so supportive, knowledgeable and attentive to what your needs are as an expecting mother. I was so nervous to have a natural birth, but with the confidence I received from Raquel and her classes, I felt so empowered and confident that I could do It! Post birth Raquel has been such an important piece of my journey - from more confidence building to helping with any and all of my breast feeding needs and questions. I am so so so grateful for her and honestly don’t know what I would have done or would be doing without her as part of my baby journey!
Mary Ellen Peck: We took Raquel’s Birth with Confidence class, and also utilized her lactation consultation service after our baby girl was born! We greatly valued the way she shared her knowledge and experience, and furthermore the way she truly cared for us. Raquel helped us feel more confident as we became first time parents. Beyond simply sharing information, she was very responsive to our individual needs. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to parenthood!
C&J R: I called Raquel after my son arrived a month early, was bottle fed in the NICU, and was having trouble nursing once he was home. She came out to our home and was very kind and patient. She had great advice and helped me come up with a plan in order to be breastfeeding exclusively in a few weeks. She's since checked in on our progress and answers any questions I've had.

Childbirth Center | University of Michigan Health-West: what do users think?
Linny Cupcakes: Out of my three labor and delivery experiences this was the best I ever had. My whole birth team made me feel seen and heard. Whatever I needed they were there. I didn’t have to repeat myself at all. If I ever decided to be crazy and get pregnant again I’d definitely come back here.
Sean Pollard: I can't say enough good things about our experience here. We just had our first baby at Metro Health and would wholeheartedly recommend anyone have their baby here.We had wonderful experiences with nurses Katie, Liz, Cari, Megan, Jen, and Klaire. Our delivery team with Dr. Johnson, Dr. Elderkin, Dr. Edgerton, and our anesthesiologist was top notch. We ended up with a happy and healthy baby and momma. If we had another child we would go back here without hesitation.

SimplyBorn Birth Center: what do users think?
Bryana Billewicz: From the very beginning, the entire simplyborn team made us feel welcome. During every appointment, we were always greeted with smiles and kindness. Sara made sure to make us as comfortable as possible during pregnancy as well as delivery. Sara is knowledgable and was extremely helpful when we had any concerns/questions. It is very apparent that Sara is passionate about her career and her patients. We highly recommend her and would go to her again with future pregnancies. We could not have asked for a better experience. We gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl on our third wedding anniversary last August.
Genna Giacobassi: I've been meaning to write this review for a really long time -- my son was born over 3 years ago now! Such is life. It took my husband and I over 7 years to bring our child into the world. Sara was with us for 3 of our miscarriages, even helping us from afar once when we were overseas. She was very present to our grief, with smart miscarriage advice and support as we physically and emotionally processed those losses. We learned so much from her.We decided, several months into our last pregnancy, that our idea of using a hospital midwife in order to save money was off-track for us, and we asked her if we could birth our son at her birth center. It was a stretch for us financially, but incredibly important for us to have the birth our way, and because of our history with Sara it was a no-brainer to go with Simply Born. But I remember filling out the paperwork and signing off on the terms related to potential transfer to a hospital, and my husband and I both commented on what a waste of money it would be if we had to do that...But we were wrong -- because that's exactly what happened, and it turned out to be the best money we ever spent. No couple who has dreamed of a home birth wants to end up transitioning to a hospital, and we were very fortunate to have had 24 beautiful hours of birthing experience at the birth house (yeah, we had candles and essential oils and drumming -- the whole 9). But when things became emergent, it was with the gentle but firm and wise guidance of Sara and her amazing team that we made the move. And they stayed with us through ENTIRE hospital experience, smoothing the way (Sara has spent years fostering a positive connection with the hospital, a minor miracle in today's political/medical climate) and making sure that our choices were respected and that we had the best experience possible. I can't possibly go into all the ways that Sara and her team helped to make the hospital experience as wonderful as it turned out to be, but suffice it to say, I regularly reflect on how things went down and count my blessings that we had Simply Born in our corner. The postnatal care was also absolutely invaluable. Here I am years later, feeling filled with gratitude for Simply Born, as I watch my little miracle kid try to take apart his dad's computer. Haha. I can't recommend Simply Born enough. Thank you, Sara and team -- you are THE BEST!
jack Zieger: I was referred to simply born by a coworker and We had an absolutely wonderful experience with sarah and couldnt be happier. We had our baby 4 months ago and she is happy and healthy. Simply born were absolutely amazing with their service and were always up front about everything. I would trust them with our second baby whenever she comes! The birthing house was clean and immaculate for us when we got there. They took care of everything during the birth and we were back home in less than 4 hours after the baby was born. I will reccomend them to anyone having a baby!!
Aubrey Serba: Looking back on my experience, it seemed like she wanted to get rid of me throughout the whole pregnancy. It was my first pregnancy and I was so excited to not have to go through a hospital and I could experience a home birth. I do have factor 5 Leiden and when I did the very first interview, she told me they had plenty experience with woman who had this. I didn’t have any complications during pregnancy other than low progesterone and iron, but it wasn’t any big concern. I was almost 2 weeks over due and she called me into the office to tell me that she’s not comfortable doing the birth. She had 9 months to let me know, but she waited until the last minute to redirect me to a hospital birth. I went to the hospital with all labs and paperwork from simply born and one of the nurses asked what I was doing at the hospital because there was no reason to be there. I know of a few women as of lately that this has happened to, where she quits on you last minute. Therefore I don’t recommend her because she robbed me of the experience. I had an amazing delivery at the hospital and I’m so grateful that everything went perfectly there. I don’t know if she’s doing this for the money or what because you do have to pay upfront, but just beware that she easily quits on you.
Amy Savage: I switched to SimplyBorn around the 34th week of pregnancy from a different birth center midwife due to moving. I'm so thankful they were able to accept me as a late transfer. Sara and Brooke attended my son's birth at the birth house. They were amazing, they gave us space but attended to us as needed when the time came! Every piece of information Sara gave us from beginning to end was spot on! I'm thankful to have had their care for birth experience & look forward to my son's and my follow up visits. Also the rest of the office staff is very friendly and all in all I am very pleased :)
Elizabeth Sanborn: The ladies of SimplyBorn are amazing. I highly recommend them. They are very professional and down to earth. They give advice and tips but let you make the final decision I never felt forced to do anything I wasn't comfortable with. If I have anymore kids after this one I will definitely be using their services again.
Bekah: I trust Sara and her team with my life. Literally. My first pregnancy was taken care of at a hospital. At the hospital, I dealt with rushed, uncompassionate care most of the time, and they did not take the time to educate me on all options, so I felt forced into an induced labor. I ended up developing pretty severe postpartum depression and anxiety that went unchecked for several months. I promised myself that I would do it differently the next time. I read in Ina May's Guide to Childbirth that home births and birth centers had very few cases of PPD, so I contacted Simply Born to become a client when baby #2 came. We figured out that paying for my care out of pocket there was actually cheaper than the giant hospital bills- even with insurance. That was a big surprise to me! Sara and the other midwives I had the privilege of meeting (Audrey was there for me regularly) really poured a lot of attention and love into me and my family. My husband felt so included in every visit. With everything that we did, I would be given resources so I was able to research it myself and consent before anything was done. I've never had a provider who was so passionate about informed consent- it really empowered me to take control of my own body and health! When the time for my son to be born, Sara let me follow my instincts and labor naturally, giving suggestions only when needed. It was a gentle and peaceful birth. I did have a postpartum emergency, which she (and her assistant Andrea, and student midwife Everest) handled quickly, and made me feel very at peace with. She has so many resources to help families in this journey from beginning to end!
Danielle Dershem: The SimplyBorn team has been incredible through my whole pregnancy and delivery of my child. After a traumatic hospital csection with my first born, we opted for a 100% natural minimally invasive labor & delivery with baby #2. We toured the birth house as soon as we found out that we were expecting and started our prenatal care soon after. I cannot speak more highly of the team here allowing me to birth in the way that felt natural to my body and never pressured for additional procedures.I'm exceptionally grateful for the in-home 24hr checkup. Not having to go anywhere for a checkup was awesome.
Nontobeko Harrington: They were so amazing loved how much they cared for me it was my first baby and they gave me all the support I wanted and wished for
Samantha Murphy: Reflecting back to a year ago, I'm so grateful for the simply born team and being able to welcome our son at the birth house. From beginning to end we felt educated, confident and supported in the way we wanted our birth to go, and when he decided he was coming breech I never once stressed or felt uneasy because of the teams calm confidence.
Kristen Terhune: Birthing at the Simply Born birth house was an excellent choice for us, as I didn’t want any birth interventions that I felt were inevitable in a hospital setting.Sara and her team exude confidence and have so much experience it was easy to trust them. They very much encouraged me to trust myself and that my body and baby would know what to do.Prenatal visits feel like talking to a friend in their living room, and there’s nothing clinical or impersonal about them. Sara had a thorough and thoughtful answer for all of my questions.
Brittany Carpenter: I loved working with Sara's team at SimplyBorn Midwifery Services. I transferred my care over around 20 weeks and began seeing Sara for my prenatal care. I opted to birth at the Birth House, and it was a great experience. Even throughout my commute (I'm from Kalamazoo), semi-complicated pregnancy, and birth that had more than one unexpected event, Sara was level-headed, supportive, and assisted me emotionally and physically. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a midwife for their pregnancy/birth!
Kaitlin Chitta: Having Sara and the Simply Born team deliver our daughter was the best decision we could have made. From the moment we arrived, they helped us feel at home, and confident we were making the right decision for us to have the birth experience we wanted. Sara is so incredibly knowledgeable and is always willing to take the time to teach, and truly listens. Sara also cares not only about the mother and the baby, but the family as a whole. Knowing that I was in amazing hands led to me having a smooth, peaceful and powerful birth. I am forever grateful to Sara and the staff at Simply Born.
Brittany Peasley: Absolutely loved birthing my babies with Simply Born! They tailor care to each individual and will always make sure mama and baby are in the best hands!I can’t imagine a more perfect way to bring new life into the world💛
Courtney Harkema: I cannot say enough about Sara & her team. Growing and birthing our baby with them was the best decision we’ve ever made. From the prenatal visits, to random “is this normal” questions, to birth, and postpartum care - they were with us every single step of the way, whenever we needed it. We appreciated Sara’s infinite wisdom and boldness to speak truth over all situations, ultimately letting us decide what was right for our family as well as her calm, confident, reassuring presence as your bring your baby earth-side...it’s priceless. You want Sara on your team when birthing you baby!
B D: Sara, Charis, Kendra, and the entire team are remarkable. They are knowledgeable and experienced midwives, lifelong teachers for us, and they are compassionate, supportive, patient, loving, fun people. As lost first-time parents, we luckily found Sara midway into our pregnancy. She was so reassuring, and addressed all our concerns about wanting a more natural, home birth. We knew immediately we had found the right path. She offered us options, empowerment, confidence and excitement for what has been the biggest journey of our lives. We have so much gratitude for Sara and the Simply Born team, best decision, highest recommendation.
Megan Eberly: Sarah and her team are amazing! Our birth experience was exactly what we had hoped for. Sarah recommends taking a birth class with Raquel (Grand Rapids Natural Birth and Pregnancy) DO IT! Raquel is so knowledgeable, he class is packed full of information, but it’s presented in a way that’s not overwhelming. Her class is the reason I was able to make it through the hard parts of labor. Seriously, the class is an additional cost, but worth every single penny!
Lindsey L: Such a perfect experience at simply born with Sara and her team! I love everyone there and couldn’t have imagined giving birth anywhere else!
Kristen Martin: If you want to be in good hands before, during and after birth— choose Simply Born! I wouldn’t have wanted my first birth experience any other way and I’m so grateful to the Simply Born team. Sara and her team are extremely knowledgeable and always stayed two steps ahead, prepared for the unknown and supportive all along the way. I greatly appreciated each and every woman on the team. My baby boy had the most peaceful entrance to the world possible. I will be back for baby number two :)
Rachel De Graff (RachDG): After having two children in the hospital and not being listened to by my care providers before or after my delivery, I wanted a change when I found out that I was expecting my third child. I went to Simply Born because of Sara's experience and reputation within the birth community. I was NOT disappointed!I was listened to and cared for at every appointment. I was listened to and cared for by the wonderful staff and other midwives at Simply Born. My third delivery was vastly different from my first two. I was supported and encouraged in an environment that infused confidence in me to deliver my baby. My husband and I both agree, however many children we have from here we want Sara and the Simply Born family to be a part of their birth story!
Dr. Danielle Sinclair: I loved birthing with simply born. The care that Sara and her student midwifes provided was second to none. I delivered my first child at the birth house with confidence in the process. The prenatal visits made me feel well prepared and well taken care of. If I am blessed with a second child I would definitely have them on my team again!

They care about me, my physical and mental health, and that of my baby's. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Cari Hatkowski: I had a routine annual visit with Jamie Phillipich, PA-C, and typically these OB-GYN appointments are my most dreaded for obvious reasons, but even moreso for this visit because my mother had just passed away unexpectedly - i expressed my obvious distress and Jamie was absolutely the kindest, sweetest and most understanding person to possibly attend to me in any of inland appointments here. She truly took the time to get me into a good mindset and ensure my mental wellness and comfort level before continuing with the appointment and I so very much appreciated everything she did to ensure that I was able to get this appointment accomplished despite it being at an exceptionally tough time for me - and she did it quickly and with zero discomfort on my end.

Spectrum Health Medical Group Maternal Fetal Medicine: what do users think?
Starr Lester: I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about MFM! My experience with MFM was top notch. Everyone from the ultrasound tech, to the front desk were friendly and welcoming as can be. Each doctor I had were knowledgeable and made themselves approachable if you had any concerns or questions. When I was referred to this place by my OBGYN I didn't know what to expect, and I was scared. However, that had all changed once I started coming here for appointments. In fact, I looked forward to going to my appointments each week. EVERYONE treated me like royalty and I'm happy to announce 3.5 months later my babygirl was born healthy and is growing well. I just want to thank everyone from Spectrum Health Maternal Fetal Medicine for taking good care of me during my pregnancy. Momma-to-be's, please don't worry, this team will take great care of you!
Kalsey Jager: Dr. Romero and Colombo are top notch doctors in my opinion. You want someone who genuinely cares about your health and your babies go to them. I don’t trust anyone but them. I had a still birth due to another doctors negligence was rushed to GR and met Dr. Romero, although it was to late to save my baby, she took great care of me and gave me her word when I was to have more babies come to her. And I did, she monitored my high risk twin pregnancy VERY well and when I was pregnant with my son she was there. She’s not just a doctor she’s truly heavens sent and I can’t thank her enough for all she’s done!
Leanna Hewitt: There isn't one bad thing I could say about this office. I love the doctors and their employees. I credit them to me being able to be able to have my daughter and she is now happy and healthy! I have been through 3 pregnancies with this office and I am grateful for each time, the help that they provided me.
Amy Waldherr: Dr. Poland and Nurse Midwife Nancy Renn-Bugai are amazing. I highly recommend Maternal Fetal Medicine to anyone pregnant working a Methadone or Suboxone program. They accept Medicaid. Most importantly, they treated me like a human being. Recovery is difficult enough, medication-assisted or not. Even with years of clean time under one's belt you are often judged and stigmatized by doctors and other medical professionals as an addict and nothing more. My fiancee and I were so surprised and elated after our first appointment with Maternal Fetal Medicine. Everyone has been so kind, supportive, comforting, and very knowledgeable. We immediately knew we were right where we needed to be.
Theresa Vaandering: Limited appointments available and always running behind by 30 plus minutes 1st appointment took a total of 4 hours most if it was waiting hoping in the future they'll have one closer to home
A Marroquin: This is my 2nd pregnancy having to go to MFM. The first time around I met with provider Erin Fricke, and she set expectations very high! I highly appreciated her knowledge, support, and providing me answers. Today I met with provider Michael Tsimis. He took lots of time to help me understand my situation, options, and answered every single one of my questions. I am 100% at ease that the doctors here know exactly what they are doing and thankful that during this time I will be able to receive the care that I need. All of the staff at the desk are also very friendly, helpful, and professional! Would recommend to anyone who is too going through a high risk pregnancy.
Beany Stryker: I have never been more stressed out than I am now. I had an appointment yesterday and left with no answers as to what I am to expect. I am high risk because of a heart defect and I feel as though none of the doctors are even reading my chart. Instead they want to schedule me for an induction which is more stressful on the body. I have no idea which doctor is even going to be delivering my baby and where I am even supposed to go. This is the worst experience of my life 😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Kryston Dillivan: They make sure you know whats going on and will listen to you when you tell them something feels wrong. Staff makes you feel comfortable and welcomed, great place in general
Elisha tawney: Nurse basically told me suck it up butter cup we can't do anything until something bad happens. When I'm high risk and concerned about my baby.
Andrea Salazar Toth: Drs. Colombo & Romero are excellent physicians.
Tiffany Reamer: Very nice and explained things so I could understand.
