Leyen & Son Meats: what do users think?
Bradley Bosscher: I stumbled in by chance, and what an amazing discovery. They have cool house made sausages/wurst. They do some fun stuff here. Good value purchasing for bulk items too.
Tom Sterken: They are very helpful
FG Eclipse: Been in the area for a long time, never tried this place. Their hot sticks are probably the best i've ever had. Will be back for more.
Jim Newland: Where to begin....stumbled across this gem this weekend and can't say enough about them. We got brats, chicken, terayaki beef sticks and chorizo. The chicken is still in the freezer, but we've sampled everything else and it's flat out superb. Service was great too. This is an old time butcher shop guys and I'll gladly drive from the Cedar Springs area where we live to support them. To be fair, we still love Frank's Market but Leyen & Son are more affordable frankly. That always matters too of course.
Shocker E: Mark is fantastic! We’ve been dropping pigs off to him for a few years now and have never been disappointed. Very informative and helpful. Also his selection of snack sticks in the store front are 2nd to none, absolutely amazing. Always a pleasure to support this great butcher shop!
Verlin Stapleton: Great place ! Friendly and helpful.Steaks are awesome!Check it out and buy local #awesome #supportlocalmarkets
Jason Radmacher: Literally worth the drive from anywhere! The team at Leyen & Sons has become our go-to place for every kind of meat. The quality of beef, pork and chicken has always been far better than the chain grocers, and the sausage blends have become amazing -- as good or better than all the old Polish places we loved so dearly on the West Side. Great people, wonderful service, and a great story of a long-time family butcher shop -- a Grand Rapids staple! A++ (Now we just have to talk them into making some kiszka/gritzwurst!)
Charles Stabler: So thankful I found Leyen & Son meats. A deer was hit in front of my house. I field dressed the deer, but wasn't sure where to take it. I found out Leyen and Sons process deer. They made ground venison, left the backstraps whole the way I requested. I had a hind quarter brined and smoked. So good! Then I took some of the ground meat back to make German wieners. Also amazing. This place does quality work and very reliable. Thank you Leyen & Son!
Jarred Sylvester: This place is my weekly stop for meat products. Mark and his family are great people. Always gotta get my chicken fix!
Nick Golcyzynski: The quality of meat is excellent i would recommend this place to everyone!!!!!!!
Blair Mongeon: One of the best meat markets in town. Quality and price are great, and the family that owns it are very nice. Always a good experience going in.
Lauren Vermilye: Such great product! Once you buy steak from them, you'll be spoiled for all fancy steakhouses. Also fantastic deer processing.
Nicholas Rodriguez: The 1 positive I have to add say is their baked beans are great and will probably keep me going there on occasion. The problems I have is that their meats are mostly frozen. Very little options as far as fresh meats go. The prices seemed okay but bad compared to ralphs down the road. I went for sausage and all except the country sausage was frozen. Ralphs has fresh sausage for cheaper. So does Meijer. I haven't actually thawed the meat to try it yet. Maybe I'll add a star if it's completely amazing beyond expectation. But I really would like fresh meat from a meat shop. The last big gripe is that they don't take a bridge card. They are in an area where a good percentage of people would benefit from them taking it. And maybe if they took it they could sell enough meat to not have to freeze it? If every liquor store in the state can figure out how to take ebt then I'm sure you could too if you really care to. I'll be back for the beans but that's probably the only thing I can really afford to splurge on.
Christy Clark: Always very friendly and informative. Quality is great and prices are fair.
Jacob Yeo: Have been coming here ever since Levandowskis on Walker changed their Kielbasa recipe. Great selection here as well! Definitely would recommend!
Myk Reenders: This is probably one of the best butchers I've ever been too!!! Everyone you talk to there is extremely nice, but if you get talking with Mark (the owner) you will leave with a smile. He is just a genuine man. Plus the meat there is great! For a great price. Supplying meat for the people!
AllFact fff: so i dropped off a pretty good size buck 3 days ago and i just picked it up, and my god there was a ton of meat...im very impressed and happy with the cuts and the burger. defiantly only using these guys now on. oh and the roast's are crazy huge and nicely cut to. cant wait to slow cook one in the crock pot...well done Leyen & Son meats, well done
Nick Ilbrink: Thankful that you guys process deer quickly. Not very satisfied with the fact that my taxidermist called me saying the legs were caped out wrong and that the cape was starting to turn green, meaning it was going bad already. The buck was shot and brought straight there due to the warm temps. Probably won't bring anymore bucks there in the future.
Robert Breyer: Fantastic local butcher who had a cut of meat I needed quickly.
Lisa Bredeweg: Clean friendly awesome meat sticks
Valerie Grant: We were excited to find out that Pam an Adrian we're working here, the food is great in this place. Make sure you stop you will not regret it

Louise Earl Butcher: what do users think?
Shiba eat U: 自宰的牛羊~有想要的部位建議先提前電話保留
Tina Benedict: Wow, the customer service was 10+. I specifically went in to buy fresh beef and lamb liver, and beef heart. Decided to get a couple lamb chops too. The lamb liver was cooked when I got home. It was amazing. Mild, tender..delicious !! Can't wait to try the rest. We will be back.
Alexa Lee: I absolutely love Louise Earl! I come every week to get lunch meat and then inevitably pick up a link or two of a fun flavor of sausage. Love how creative they are and never miss a chance to get their tamales-outstanding!
Levi Waldon: amazing store, you even get tallow, lard, stock, liver, heart and more.
Matthew Fowler: lovelovelove these folks and their amazing selections!
Mohit Kudaravalli: Matt, Cynthia and team are incredible. The quality is superb and at a great value! They’ll source specific cuts and make excellent recommendations based on what you are after. Check out their sausages too, made in house and they’re always trying something new and most of them are bangers (no pun intended) Here’s a little know secret, they have one of the best sets of curated wines and at affordable prices (most are around $20). Seriously, if you enjoy your wine, or are intimidated by it converse with Cynthia. She’ll hook you up. Speaking of curated, everything in the store is all well executed, spend a few minutes perusing, its an experience. Most importantly, they value relationships and our community is blessed to have them.
Spencer: Only local place where I was able to find everything from organ meats to grass fed & finished beef. 100% recommend.
Kathleen Roark: I trust that Louise Earl takes great care in sourcing their meat products and reduces waste by using as much of the product as possible. P.S. if you need a pick up lunch, Louise Earl is a surprising delicious quick stop!
David Longo: This morning we had there blueberry sausage and it was fantastic it did not surprised us because all of there meat is great plus Matt and Cindy are wonderful
GRGman: They reserved a whole turkey breast for me as a special request. Absolutely delicious! Highest quality meats!
jodi morton: Love this butcher shop! This is the place to go if you care about quality protein and excellent customer service. It is simply the best in GR.
Chris Williams: I’m a foodie. This is hands down the best place in West Michigan. The owners are really great people. They provide an amazing product at a reasonable price. The Hamburg, rack of pork, rack of lamb, and steaks are absolutely amazing. Best butcher I’ve experienced!! Also, an amazing wine selection. Cynthia knows what is good. She has many years in the wine business.
Faith Devries: Staff was very friendly and helpful! Gave us rub and cooking ideas along with instructions. This was our first time and it was a wonderful experience! Love the fact they are consensus of the farms and animals they are using. It will be back!
Linus Flambeau: Louise Earl is one serious butcher shop. Seriously GOOD. Great fun shopping here for superior products all. ❤️❤️
T.D Sanders: Their banger sausages are amazing!
Jordan Fulghum: Good meats. good prices. good people.
Claudia Pohlen: Best butcher in Grand Rapids!
Courtney Kliss: The most helpful staff, of which I so appreciate anytime I have a question! Going down the rabbit hole of learning to cook and eat meat again was a challenge, but Louise Earl aided significantly by giving me cooking tips and places to start. Everything is top notch quality, and I am thrilled to know how well they source and vet farms. Worth every penny.
Chuck Hoehn: This is the absolute best butcher shop in the Grand Rapids area. Everything is from organic ethically raised animals. Trust me you can tell the difference from supermarket meats. They always have a great selection of freshly butchered meat. I watched one of their butchers throw a whole lamb on the block when I was there today. They have many fresh and smoked sausages to choose from. All are top notch quality. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail. I can never decide what to get so I usually walk out with a package of each sausage in the case. I'm just bummed the review it limited to five stars. They deserve more!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ericka Lozano-Buhl: We absolutely love Louise Earl. It is our local butcher shop and we count on them especially for special occasions - we always get our turkey breast here for Thanksgiving as well as filets for Christmas and anniversary dinners. But quite honestly, everything is high quality and very good. (Their deli turkey is excellent!)During the pandemic, we made a decision to stop buying meats processed by the companies that disregarded their employees' lives and well-being (looking at Cargill, Tyson Foods, JBS, and National Beef Packing). That meant no more grocery store bacon or sausage, so we have ended up buying almost all of our meat at Louise Earl instead. We are supporting a local business and we appreciate that they work with local farmers. The service is impeccable; the staff is always friendly and helpful, especially if they happen to be out of something and we need a recommendation for an alternative cut. We also greatly appreciate how thoughtful and considerate they have been during the pandemic, first by only offering curbside pickup and then ensuring their staff is masked.
Becca Ellis: Best butcher I've ever been to. Top quality stuff and they recently expanded to sell alcohol and host events! Owned by a super nice local couple. This place is the bomb!
