Meyer Music: what do users think?
Nate K: The staff is always very helpful. We've been renting from them for several years and have had no issues. Great place.
Andrea Hagenow: We went to Meyer Music to buy a step up flute for our daughter.Positive:- nice Ambiente in the try-out room, my daughter had one hour with her flute teacher to try different flutesNegative:- after deciding for one model, we were told, that the flute will have to be ordered, which will take about 10 days. Next day I received the call, that the flute is already in the shop. We went there for pick-up and paying. They opened the case at the counter, and the flute seemed USED to me. Covered in fingerprints and micro scratches. I said, that this flute looks used. I was assured that it was brand new, and the person at the counter wiped away the fingerprints, which apparently were from the technician. I was told, that I can do that too, but have to buy the polish cloth. I again asked if they were sure, this was a new flute. Again, I was reassured it was.- We took the flute home. I got second opinions on the condition of the flute and it should definitely NOT have scratches, as it is completely taped when it comes from the factory. So I went back to the store. After confronting them with the fact that I was sold a used flute for the price of a new one, they offered to order a new flute, couldn’t give me an estimated arrival date though. No apology.-After a week we decided to return the instrument. Trust was broken, and buying a new instrument should be a one of a kind experience.-Return process went smooth, BUT again, no apology. Sad.
Amy Tobey: I brought one of my prized instruments in for service here because Meyer music has been part of my entire life in band & orchestra. My trombone came back a much improved instrument. The slide works great and it's a joy to play again. The staff is friendly and professional. The store is clean and pleasant. I have more instruments to service and new instruments to meet. I'll be buying them here.
mike bolling: Thank you for the president sell on piano books
Ambassadrice: Great customer service
Matt Wind: Great fast service
Jonathan Shelley: Helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Great service and great prices. Definitely the go-to place for band and orchestra instruments.
steve jessop: Great place to rent musical instruments for my kids. Staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. High quality instruments as well as accessories.
Johanna Santiago: Wao!!
Kim Ellerbrock: Easy rental and knowledgeable staff.
Susan Kooima: There were at least 5 employees just sitting around and no one greeted me. When I asked for help, the lady knew nothing about my instrument and basically told me to look up the details online. I felt like they were annoyed by my presence for some reason. Very strange experience.
Eric Pierce: Great business, very helpful staff.
Lea Wilcox: Friendly people good serve
Hannah M: Helpful staff and nice selection of beginner piano books!
Shawn Rank: Thought this was a nice store to go to. Needed to find a mouth piece for a Tuba for my nephew and they had exactly what we needed and helped us pick it out. Thank you guys
Renita Creasy: Had everything I needed and was very friendly.
James Hemsley: Great helpful staff and can order anything you need. Expensive, but the "buy local*sign makes me feel better.
Kristen Nauss: The experience at Meyer Music is always top-notch. The staff are helpful, kind, and highly educated on the instruments they provide. If one member can’t answer your questions, they immediately find someone who can. My son is now excited to go to this store instead of intimidated. Thank you, Meyer Music for the life-changing event for my kiddo!
Ashley Griffey: I would have done 5… I went there like a week ago to get a cello tuned and taped to learn. I wasn’t aware where the 2nd tape was, was actually where my third finger went. I tried to explain that the spacing was ridiculously far apart and I was struggling to play properly. She put her hand to mine and said I should be able to play a full size.I was still confused and she seemed like she had other things to do so I left. I googled more string instrument shops and found this amazing Grand Rapids Violin shop. Typically they only do appointments which I didn’t know. But she talked to me for a minute and explained that a lot of times they skip where the second finger actually goes.Came home and worked like a charm without my hand feeling like I’m stretching it past it’s limits. So now I have to start over learning because I’ve been putting my second finger where my third is suppose to go 😅😅😅
Susan Swan Tagg: Nice staff, Beautiful instruments. Recommend 💯
T-Bones Medium-Rare Jeff Carroll: Great service.

West Michigan Band Instruments: what do users think?
Luis Rosario: Great classes and great customer service.
Justin: Very nice staff and very informative! We have visited several times and have always been treated well. We will definitely be back...
Sammantha Jo: They don't carry many beginner books for violin, matter of fact they only carry one. It had what I needed in it tho and staff was helpful in finding it.
Elizabeth Pierce: They have instructors for most instruments
Jean DeRuiter: Both times we have brought the French horn to be fixed, the return service was fast and reasonably priced.
Casey Sheehan-Hunt: Excellent customer service!
Caitlin Sheldon: The owner of this establishment is so unprofessional and rude. He stands behind the “instrument repo man” speaking to minor children regarding the debt when their parents aren’t home. (I was not aware of the debt and have no issue with paying it). When I tried asking for my contract and what steps we can take to avoid the delinquency going this long without me knowing - he had apparently handed the phone off to Ben while I was in the middle of my sentence. Don’t waste your time - go somewhere else for your instrument needs.Ben on the other hand, was great (the person the owner handed the phone to while I was still talking). He handled the matter professionally and how it should have been in the first place. I can’t say enough good things about Ben. All the owner needed to do, was handle it the same way. Im sure I’ll get a rude response to this review as it seems like customer service is not important to this establishment. This was honestly the most unprofessional place I have ever dealt with.
gonsales gonsales: an incredible space, they really make a BIG BIB. difference renting there's instruments.thank you.
Haram Gil: I've known Benjamin Piela for years and can vouch for his skills as a sales rep and musician. Whether it's to buy a new instrument or receive lessons, you really cannot go wrong with this guy, or really the shop as a whole. The others seem like great people and there is a really large selection of brands and instruments at your disposal.
s kragon: Very helpful both times I've had to be there at the last minute for an urgent something or other and they always come through thank you!
Jaybird616: Very knowledgeable and friendly staff
Jeremy Nelson: All of my kids band instruments have come from here. They are always super helpful and i always feel like I am getting good value for my dollar.
Adam London: Stopped in to have a trumpet tuned up. Super helpful and fast service! On the spot, was shown how to oil the valves and where to apply lube to the slides. They gave me a bottle of each and I was on my way! Definitely recommend!
CASTING THE CIRCLE: I had many questions about a cornet my grandpa gave me. A guy named Ben there was super helpful. Great business!
ivan bliminse: First time here to experiment with reeds on a venova and they just gave me a couple. Will definitely be back! Thank you!
Robert Vander Ploeg: Super friendly and helpful, a local family owned business that I will happily support for years to come!
Carmen Domanski: We had a major problem. It was 7:30 pm and realized my Granddaughter's clarinet was not working properly. She had to be at the DeVos Place at 7:45 am the next morning to warm up for her All State Band concert. In tears she started calling and texting anyone she could think of to help. Band and Lesson teachers anyone. West Michigan Band has been amazing for emergencies when open, but they closed at 5:00 pm. It was almost 9:00 pm we received a message someone would be at the store in 15 minutes to help us. I can not thank you enough for all you have done for us. This was a big event and you saved the day. This was not the first time and I am sure it won't be the last. Thank You!
David Ross: Very knowledgeable and friendly! Thanks for your help today!
Keith Shick: They were a big help
Lorena Campos: Every time we go to West Michigan Band Instruments we get helped right away! Their rates are better than the competition and they regularly go to the school where my boys go so they can fix anything that might be wrong with the instrument. I am so impressed by their selection too. The instruments are beautiful and sound so good! My boys love the violin!!
RJ Robinson: Great place to get instruments and ask questions. Fantastic, knowledgeable staff!!

Guitar Center: what do users think?
Alan Bacon: Pretty good place , I always have a pretty good experience … I just don’t like that I have to turn down the extended warranty more than once… stop being pushy …. Other than that the guys are great , they’re willing to help and they’re also willing to leave you alone ( not like firehouse) and let you jam in peace … thank u guitar center
Rebecca Shangle: Very helpful and insightful. My daughter is getting into playing and they were very patient with her questions and going over pros and cons of acoustic vs electric. Along with various models.
RedFox Wmvm: If you know, you know..
Ruth Gunneson-Poling: I'm done. Second time here. Absolutely no one even says welcome or asks you what you need. 1st time they weren't sure if they had a soft gig for a 12 string guitar case without checking if they did or not. Today: 2nd and last time. Again no one greeted me or asked what I need. Repair guy isn't working today so no new strings for me. I'm going somewhere else.
Nick Terpstra: I have going to guitar center for as long as this location has been here. As of late I have had to frequent the store to rent audio equipment for dj gigs where sound equipment is not provided. Since the first time I’ve had to do this I have had nothing but a great experience. Jake is almost always the guy that sets me up and takes care of the rental and what I need and is incredibly knowledgeable (this is not always the case in music/audio stores). He always shoots it straight and is incredibly kind. I don’t have an issue often, but when I do Jake is the first to help me get it sorted out. As long as Jake is working this location, I will continue to be a loyal customer!Additionally, a recent update. Bruce and Jeff are top talent team members that have also helped me on quite a few occasions. Most recently Bruce was able to help answer questions on a new model of gear and helped me feel very confident and comfortable in my upgrade. As long as these two continue to be members of this location, I will keep coming back!
Jimbo Huizinga: I called to ask some questions about a Les Paul the individual that I spoke with was rude and unhelpful. I guess sweetwater is going to get my money. After seeing something is going to be done about my experience then I’m definitely shopping locally. I didn’t let one bad experience stop me from buying a guitar. Jeff was very helpful and I’m sure I’ll buy another one from him.
Callie Paige: Bought a nice Yamaha acoustic guitar here. They had lots of guitars to choose from, with decent price ranges. The staff was not very helpful though, we had to walk around the store to find someone to help us, and the help we got was not very friendly or even helpful. One guy was ok.. he was nice and informative on the different styles & brands for guitars I was interested in, but he was the only one... Overall I was thankful to purchase a nice guitar, case, tuner, and capo, but was not impressed with the staff, sorry...
Diana Silva: I have no idea what happened to this place. I do not play anything but my kids do. I had great experiences when I’ve purchased previous musical instruments for my kids. I’ve bought harmonicas, guitars, and supplies. The other day, we spent over an hour in the store. We took videos. Not one staff person approached us. I wanted, in the end, to purchase a drum set, stool, strings, guitar, and two amplifiers. When I walked in, I asked if they purchased equipment-which I knew they did. I just wanted to begin a conversation. The person said, “Yes.” He turned his back on me simultaneously. He continued to restock small items at the entrance. All I saw after that was his backside. I told my adult children about how good customer service used to be in my day. This service was so bad that I Googled sites and purchased my products online. Before I left, I brought up a pack of strings, which we needed immediately and I purchased them. I think they ran about $10? I made sure to ask them if they worked on commission. I told them what I planned on purchasing…just under three grand. If I had one thing to share is that every customer doesn’t look like a wealthy Caucasian. Some people are like us. Learn what your base looks like. Some musicians are a little straggly looking but carry a wad and are looking for at the very least, a “How do you do?” (EDIT: I have no idea how to post a video or at least a picture to share but I noticed a timeline pattern after I read the other reviews. So sad. I think I’ve posted maybe five reviews because I enjoy propping up exceptional service. This service USED to be exceptional). BTW, they missed out on an exceptional Juno 106.
Tim Todd: Like 👍
Lisa Sanborn: Good prices
Tim Riggins: lota of guitars, they have drums and keyboards too
Doug W: You don't buy used headphones but you sell used headphones at your location on your web site? "We don't buy used headphones at this location."
Saveon Belcher: Been coming since a kid
molly mavaz: Love this place they have wonderful things and great classes
Maxine Rodriguez: I go here with my son who loves playing
katy mcmahon: I did make a purchase but the sales staff was not very helpful. Pointing to another area of the store and saying "it's over there" and making no effort to actually sell a major purpose left me unimpressed with their services.
Dennis Flores: Didn't go
Kelly Reed: They sell low end brands that are marked up. Good location by the mall.
garry robbins: Always good people there, very helpful
Joel Duncan: Went in today for a $14 music stand. They asked for my phone number and I said “no”. I was then told they needed my name if I wanted to use my debit card “for security purposes”. B******* — they wanted it for marketing purposes. I walked out. Guess I’m ordering online from now on.
Melvin Hanson: I walked in with my baby girl looking for something. Not really knowing what, before I could even say I didn't know there was a friendly gentleman playing music. That ask with a smile how can I help today. Great place!!

North Coast Guitar Company: what do users think?
Jason Bearup: Expert service! Quality shop
bryan nuñez: I was rear ended while my acoustic guitar was in the trunk of my car, which left a 4” crack in the side of my most precious baby, Yamaha A3M! [Mahohagony back/sides with Sruce Spitka top] Thank you North Coast! You are highly skilled Luthiers and I entrust my guitar(s) into your care for the future and recommend your service, which is fair and honest. What was once a rough unsightly crack is now a smoothed surface, thus value preserved, for which I am most grateful. Thank You!
Todd Bulemore: Such a fantastic shop! Brought in my Les Paul for a fret dress and set-up and it now plays better than it ever has. Will hands down choose North Coast for any future guitar maintenance/repair I need.Russ is extremely welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. Beyond my repair work, he was also willing to chat and offer advice for a project guitar I'm working on.
Bryton Flint: Awesome service!!! I highly recommend this place!
Brendan Clune: Cool shop! As someone who likes to ask a million questions, they are super knowledgeable about all things guitar. Feel lucky to have a business like this in my home city. Highly recommended.
Matt Rozelle: Russ worked on a couple guitars for me recently and I was very impressed with the quality of his work. Both guitars are now playing better than ever.
N8: The best in GR. They put great care into making sure your guitar plays as good as possible and will give you advice on maintaining your guitar if needed. Really professional work, and friendly people.
Thomas Felty: Great place for your guitar needs. Fare prices and friendly and knowledgeable folks to deal with.
Michael Follett: Bought a new Taylor from Guitar Center that eventually had some severe warping. Taylor recommended NCGC as part of their approved warranty repair program. I had read reviews about how people will bring in guitars, even newly bought ones and these guys will give it a proper setup that is better than factory new.I thought my Taylor 214CE sounded great when I got it new out of the box, but after the repair I'm very impressed, it plays better than I remember, better sustain, lower and more even action. I brought in another guitar just in case I was happy with the repair, and they'll be my luthiers from now on. I really couldn't believe that they'd not only fix it, but improve it from what it was factory new. Super chill guys, highly knowledgeable spotting issues immediately, very transparent on what is needed and what it'll cost. I've already got my 3rd repair planned for them.5/5 stars - highly recommend.
Hayden Miller: I bring all my guitars to Russ
Stephen Stocker: These guys are experts. Friendly and fast service.
Steven Kalfen: These guys are the real deal. I was looking for a repair shop that can handle vintage guitar repairs and maintenance; this is the place to go. The amount of knowledge, attention to detail, and craftsmanship is superior. I feel very lucky to have found North Coast Guitar Company.
Bill Wiegandt: Very high quality craftsmanship. Russ repaired a cracked bridge on my acoustic 60s Guild and you can’t even tell it was cracked. Will definitely be bringing the rest of my guitars here in the future!
Michael Dura: Russ is true to his craft. I first brought my grandfather’s guitar here to be repaired after being stored since 1992. Russ brought it back to life and has since shown me how to take better care of it. Each time I’ve stepped into the shop, I’ve learned something. Awesome shop!
Sean K: Guys here are amazing. My daughter broke one string and they replaced her string and tuned it up for her super fast! Totally coming back here with anything I need!
Kevin Underwood: Excellent service in a timely manner. Nice to find a local expert to service my guitars.
Justin Velting: High quality service, wonderful staff
Bob Arbogast: First of all, Russell and the staff treated me and my guitar with patience and respect. Kudos!I brought my Telecaster-style guitar in for some attention to the frets. Two days later I picked it up, the frets leveled, crowned, and polished. Beautiful work. The guitar plays so smoothly now.
Shirlene Tanis: Russell is a very talented luthier that I trust with all my guitars.
Dustin Childers: I took my 20 year old Fender acoustic there to get a new saddle and a tune up when the tone started to change, and strings began to buzz. They took the time to go over the instrument with me when I dropped it off and even helped guide me when I couldn't answer the more technical questions about what I was looking for. They gave me great suggestions on string height, what needed to be or could be done, and even how to better maintain the guitar as it gets older. It sounds as good as new, and even better than I remember. I couldn't be happier, and will definitely come back in the future for any work I need done.
Kyle: Great service with an acoustic pickup install and setup.

Piano Nation Grand Rapids: what do users think?
allie lanning: Would give 0 stars if possible. Guy was very rude on the phone saying “I’m not a Yamaha dealer” because I asked if he had a cord for a keyboard I was trying to sell him. Like aren’t you in the business of buying and selling keyboards??? 🤣 Trash and rude customer service would not recommend based on rude first time interaction.
Santiago Hernandez: Very good
Lenore Montiague: Tried to look at pianos but the door was locked and the person inside just sat there staring at us, didn’t let us in. From the outside it looks like they have a wide selection. Will go somewhere else for a piano.
Aaron Taher: Super helpful in deciding what to purchase and what to look for. Drake is super fun and kind and I’ve loved learning from him and buying an upright piano and a digital keyboard from here!
Sandra Birmingham: We are incredibly pleased with our experience with Piano Nation. Based on what we were able to spend, I went in expecting to get a decent used piano to replace the spinet we had owned for 25 years. Instead, Todd negotiated with a manufacturer to secure a lovely, brand new, high quality instrument for us at an amazing price. (I know because I researched the price and reviews of the instrument thoroughly online before we bought it. Piano Nation had a lower price than ANYONE else.) Delivery was seamless and I have been enjoying my new instrument for four months now. It makes me happy every time I sit down to play! Highly recommend!
Sodam Lee: Thank you for your wonderful assistance and help. I never thought that we can have a grand piano in our living room. However, the Piano Nation helped it so that my daughter's dream came true. They are amazing people who are kind, patient and trust-worthy. I strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a place to purchase one.
Jerry Reed: Renee and Todd were awesome to work with. There was no pressure to buy, they were patient with my multitude of questions and extremely helpful in educating me on pianos, talking through what was important to me and the design and differences of the pianos. They assisted us in getting financing and made the process a breeze. We now have a beautiful piano in our home that we love to play for decades to come. Thanks Renee and Todd!!The Reeds
Kristin Reed: I love my piano. Renee and Todd made our dream of owning a baby grand piano possible.
Gary Matthews: The Grand Rapids store was absolutely amazing. The salesperson, Renee, was an absolute delight to work with. This is a first class company and you won't go wrong buying a new or used piano from here. Buying new, I found the place knowledgeable, not pushy, kind, and helpful.
Jessica Malcolm: I am not sure where to begin with the service here. We were looking (last minute) for a certain keyboard. I called the store on the east side of the state and I am not kidding when I say how they bent over backwards to have somebody bring it to the Grand Rapids location to save us the trip over there. This was while they were still setting up the Grand Rpaids location and not even officially open. This was also the week before Christmas and I am sure they were swamped. We felt like the only customers. Pickup was easy, everyone was incredibly professional and they now have a customer for life!
Crystal Yool: What a wonderful gift we received for our family. So grateful for a company like PianoNation for providing us not only valued information but continued support even after the purchase of our piano.
James Cameron: It was a very nice store they just did not have piano music.
Joseph Workman: Wonderful staff great products. Great local business.
Balaji Vutla: Went to shop for piano. Does not have all the brands available. Friendly staff
electrashave: Didn't catch her name but I went to return a piano with some issues and I was treated pretty disrespectfully, was told that there are a bunch of other keys on the piano so why am I worried about 3 or 4, then proceeding to play hard on the piano asking me why I'm worried about it if other notes drown it out, Greg however, was great to me when I bought it
Tracy Wood: An excellent place to get all your questions answered! I recently purchased a Roland keyboard for our church, and I am most pleased with the quality and sound of the instrument. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for any kind of piano or keyboard.
Hannah Monsma: I called Keyboard World to ask some questions about an electric keyboard I was interest in. They did not have the model I was calling about but Greg was so super helpful and kind. He shred his knowledge about different brands and was very nice about it! I called another place in Grand Rapids and they were rather short and frustrated as to why I would call. So Thank You Keyboard world!! I appreciate your zeal for your trade and I thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Tom Johnson: Great store. One of the few places left to go see and try what you want in pianos or keyboards. Salesman Greg is very good.
Cameron Scott: Amazing experience. So many choices. Excellent information. Competitive prices.
Jason Ostrander: Great place! Great people!
Thu Giang Duong: The staff is very polite and take care of all my question

Grand Rapids Violins, LLC: what do users think?
Ashley Griffey: Of all the places I asked for help the lady at the desk was the best!!! Thank you for the information ❤️❤️❤️❤️
cclearlyexodus2020: Friendly and knowledgeable staff! I will be beginning a new venture of learningthe viola, and Katie and RJ were very helpful and thorough with getting my viola set up to play.
Joan Chee: Thankful to make appointment to have bow rehair and instrument repair could be done all in one day.
Rajesh Kulkarni: This is a lovely shop. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The service is impeccable. Highly recommended!
Cheryl McKague: We looked all over when it was time to upgrade my daughter from her student cello. We had cleaned out southeast Michigan in our price range (took home over a dozen cellos to try). Then we headed north. GRV had an instrument with some play and patina to it that sounded absolutely beautiful, and even brought it down to stay in our budget. Wonderful shop and very professional. No pressure sales. All around great experience.
Rachel Gaffier: Very knowledgeable and friendly! Definitely know what they're talking about, and willing to work with your budget
Micah Huisman: Superb company! Top notch products and the most excellent service!
Karen O'Dell: The staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. Their services seemed reasonably priced and the turn around was quick. I was very please with the sound quality they were able to achieve with my cello. If ever I need another tune-up I know where I'm going!!
Jesi Deringer: So knowledgable. And prices are good!
Tara Noe: Excellent workmanship
Scott “Scotty” Plank: I believe the only 🎻 place in G.R. Small but very knowledgeable of string instruments on Cascade S.E. bye Int. 96 just east of overpass.
Bess Hudson: It is not recommended to approach this building uninvited or without an appointment. Maybe it was the way I was dressed. I had come directly from work, a wood shop that specializes in products with a quality and artisanship not unlike their own. So yes, I was covered in sawdust perhaps, in a t-shirt and jeans splattered with dried paint and urethane, most certainly. The door was locked (during business hours) but someone came to let us in, albeit with an air of "who are you to come unannounced?" I should have apologized and left right then but we were invited in. We were interested in purchasing a new violin here, on the recommendation of my son's private lesson instructor and wanted to get some information, check them out. We were in the neighborhood and I hate making phone calls. Why not just pop in and talk to a real person? Well, we received said information but in a very condescending manner. They would not even consider us until we were accompanied by our instructor (which is understandable but in the context of the entire visit felt like a slap in the face). We were handed invisible violins off a shelf twice, told that they were very expensive and that they don't just sell them to whoever walks in the door on a whim. It felt like they were trying to scare us away, that we were trespassing, taking up their valuable time. As it happens, we were very aware of the process and costs, having purchased instruments in the past, and didn't appreciate being treated as if we not only could not afford them but didn't know the process. A little respect goes a long way. If they had just said at the onset that they only speak to people by appointment then I would have gladly made that appointment right then and there, rather than being shown into a back room and schooled about what they won't do for us until we go through the proper channels. I will not be returning to purchase here.
Chris Willman: Great place and nice folks. Quality repair.
Luke Norvell: Super quick, very friendly. 10/10
Deane Bellah: Matt and Aubry did great work restoring my 115 yr old violin and two bows. If you need work done and want someone you can trust go there!!!
David Annis: Excellent service. We rented a villa for our son and or was a quality instrument.
P Sz: Highly recommend this team for cello repair and bow hairing. We have been coming here for the past three years.
Stacie Scherman: Everyone at Grand Rapids. Violin was very personable and helpful. Lovely shop. Highly recommend them for your stringed instrument needs.
Larissa Fall: I was very pleased with my experience at Grand Rapids Violins, LLC. I had quite a bit of work completed on my violin and all of it was done with exceptional care, artful expertise, and excellent customer service in a short period of time. I would highly recommend working with Matt Noykos. My bow re-hairs are the best I have experienced in my career thus far. Matt also gave great advice, guidance, and an insight into his techniques that helped me understand the processes he used to reach optimum sound quality in adjusting my sound post. Wonderful work!
Megan Ward: Matt is super helpful, great company.
