Kay Schultetus: This place is amazing. My parents shopped here 60+ years ago. Romence has grown into so much more than a place to buy plants. It's almost a destination to just walk through and breathe. I especially like their "native to Michigan" varieties.

But this company has really knocked it out of the park as far as customer service, plant, quality and shipment and presentation.They are quick with responses, and my shipment literally got to my house 4 days after I placed the order! That exceeds my expectations! Also, the care that they took in packing up my plants for shipment was superb. Highly recommend. Plant selection is also really good too.

That being said going in there and having a younger girl roll her eyes at me several time because she didn't deem it necessary to wrap my plant to protect it from the cold, is completely unexceptable. Romence is where I get the most of my house plants, they have a fabulous selection, but the younger employees need to learn it's the customer that is needed to give them a job.

Chuck Davis: Ordered a plant, waited a week to find, only because I confronted them, that they didn't actually have the plant. So they kept the money, sent out a shipping notification, then proceeded to tell the truth. What an absolute waste of time. Not worth the price I would have paid anyway. Found a cheaper one elsewhere by someone reputable.
Charmin Riedesel: Ordered 5 grasses I couldn't find anywhere else in June and was told they'd ship August 15th. Haven't heard anything so I messaged them. They said unfortunately we won't get anymore of these but we'll issue a refund. Well id hope so! I've waited on these for 2 months and you didn't know there was an issue until I contacted you? Very disappointed. Definitely won't order again especially if its not in immediate stock for shipment
Kraig Nielsen: The staff is very helpful and friendly. There are plants that you cannot find in the larger greenhouses. They specialize in many plants that are not available in local stores. Well kept and maintained plants.

One of the young ladies on staff was very helpful in answering my questions and suggested I purchase a larger pot than I'd grabbed, which is advice I really appreciate!2022 update: Still love Romence! Went today and picked up perennials, annuals, and herbs! Good sale in June.

Lisa Klenk: I reviewed this shop a year ago when I read a spotlight piece in GR Magazine and bought my first houseplants for myself rather than as gifts for others. Those plants are thriving still, with the yucca cane tripling in size. I continue to find a mix of unique plants as well as the more commonly seen houseplants. He (the owner) maintains not only an inventory that is consistently refreshed with a wide variety of plants so there are always new and different species. I really like that there is clearly also attention being paid to price points. You do not have to have an East GR bank account to walk shop here. I see a good selection of plants in a 10-30$ range, as well as in the 30-100$ range, and then of course the larger and/or more exotic types can go above that. Important to note that no matter what price point any plant there is at, I've always found the quality, health, and growth to be excellent across the board. I could go on and on about how much of a gem this shop is, but I absolutely advise that you visit and see for yourself. If you want an idea of what to expect, their social media profiles are updated regularly with what is available, and growing requirements are provided as well in those postings.

There is a husband area in the middle with chairs, snacks, coffee, water, and even some little games. There are children's activities scattered around the store.We only bought $20 worth of plants and they threw in probably another $15 at the checkout just because.This will be the only plant store I go to from now on!

Staff was so helpful offering to push the cart for me and waited for me at my car so I could load my stroller, then the mums and pumpkins. They were also kind to my son even though he was using their broom and pushing it all about the greenhouse! (I was trying to grab it from him…) I appreciated their kindness today. Cindy Johnston: Huge selection of succulents which is my kryptonite. 125 different varieties. They have planters done up as well that are dedicated to succulents. Their perennials and annuals are varied as well and beautiful this year. I love the pricing system (pot color + check key = price. Very clearly marked. Their farmers market also has an eclectic variety of deliciousness. Im impressed with their staff and they seem to work together like a family. Full disclosure, my son was hired here last year. He learned a tremendous amount, worked hard, and had a lot of fun. Huge shout out to Bill and Veronica for their example and willingness to not only teach but to work around school and family schedules.

Quite difficult to get waited on when ready to check out. Had to wander around to find someone. Went to two registers where no one was paying attention to check out. This could be improved. I was very bummed to move too far away from Knapp Valley and to lose Ron for my business purchases.

Tomorrow is our 60th birthday and we can't celebrate together. I have seen her in over a year. I wanted us to both plant a tree that will grow as our lives will continue to grow. Ron had a perfect pine tree that will grow 30-40 feet, but he is delivering it in a decorative container to her tomorrow (our birthday) with a note. I called several other garden centers. I was a bit emotional and crying. All of them didn't have the time or empathy to help me For a guy, Ron did an excellent job handling my tears and assuring me that my twin sister will get her forever tree.

Sharon Goss: Cute little store with lots of plants. My only complaint was that they didn't have ANY plants that were non toxic to pets so I had to leave empty handed. The clerk, however, was very sweet and helpful. She wrote a list of all the plants that they carry that are safe to have around animals so the next time I come in i will know immediately what to ask for. If this isn't an issue I'm sure you will love it. They had many gorgeous plants!

A K: The service was wonderful. However, if you're looking for more uncommon house plants, and plants that are marked with the correct name, it isn't the place to go. They do have beautiful common plants for beginners, and gorgeous cacti!
Denald Hena: Got a indoor plant from there recently and found out that it has a ton of mites on it, and after a misunderstanding they got back and were very thoughtful and helpful.

The lady working there said Hi, I asked if they sell rare plants and she said “that’s not our focus” I was like uh, not our focus? I can buy these plants at Meijer and at least then I can buy eggs and toilet paper with,I just didn’t get it. Cool yellow couch I guess

Jessa Rappleye: Who doesn’t love a local woman-owned, inclusive, and aesthetically pleasing place that sells more plants than you could imagine? The owner is so kind and is always happy to take the time to help and share her extensive plant knowledge. A must visit when in Grand Rapids! The partnership with madcap coffee is also great!
