Grand Rapids Model Railroad Historical Society: what do users think?
Audra Marie: People reviewing must not have checked the hours!I didn’t realize this place existed as a museum until I went for a walk this Tuesday evening around 6:30pm!Someone was going in and my partner asked him what the building was and we got a full tour! They’re open 7pm on tuesdays and run the trains on the last Tuesday of the month! This place is a super cool hidden gem!
Dj H: Unfortunately, this museum isn't ever open when I am around.
John Buckley: Great people. Superb model railroad.
David Vinci: Nice layout
kaden douma: Amazing layout. Great people
Dennis: Don't go out of your way.
Lisa Klenk: This unassuming building hides a really, really detailed model railway system. Definitely a labor of love.
Rich Hays: Had never been here before. Walked in and was greated, and treated, like I was an old friend. My son and I were blown away on how large the set up is. Very impressed with how we were treated and showed around. When I am allowed to give ten stars I will!
JAY JUDANE: Its ok i cant remember if I came here and did I like it
Philip Brown: A great stop for kids and adults. The detail is really good on the routes, and while some of the areas are unfinished in terms of landscaping, you can stop in again and see some progress.
The Shirtless Mystic: Just an empty building. It seems
Tim Scott: Good place for families to come and visit.
Cameron Nygaard: Quite a fine place I'd say.
Joshua Vissers: The guys running this place are friendly and knowledgeable. The model is really cool, too! But just a heads up, they only actually run the trains on the 4 and 5 Tuesdays of the month. The rest of the time they're building.
Michael Leonard: Got to visit this during one of their open houses. Pretty neat model and is a continuing work in progress. The members were friendly and loved answering any questions. Don't be thrown off by the boarded up windows - I think that's just to limit the sun light inside.
Neil Carlson: Wonderful place for kids and adults. These are not just toys--they are preserving the complex skills of scheduling, dispatching, signaling, and more. Must see!

Kenny Greene: Went here with my daughter after her sister's cheer competition! They had a Lego exhibit with a lot of unique builds! Many other exhibits also. Dinosaur bones and a running steam engine. Very cool museum. Stuff for all ages. Highly recommend for a family outing 💚💯💯Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …More
samantha dubay: I love this museum! This was the first time I took my child. She had so much fun. If you visit Grand Rapids, this is a must! They have a Planetarium and also a restored, vintage carousel (reserve a time to ride, for free, when you get your tickets) I particularly love the "Vintage streets of yesterday" section where it looks Iike you are walking along a victotian era street at night. Parking is in a garage structure on the same street. It's $22 for the day.

La muséographie est très bien pensée comme les américains savent le faire, vous découvrirez tout de ce président et pourrez même entrer dans le bureau oval ou la salle des ministres ( reconstituées à l'échelle). Grand Rapids African American Museum & Archives (graama): what do users think?
Adam Brehob: It is much smaller than I thought it would be which was slightly disappointing, but the guy working there was very enthusiastic and informative about all the items on display. I hope to see it in the future when it is in it's full glory! Please do support the place if you can for now.

John True: But it's going to be get much better when they can move into their new space, I'm sure!Right now it's very small and hard to miss. Even with Google I sent a full circle passing it once from my parking garage :PBut there is a lot of heart and care about information here and research here! If you are in the area and have a moment you should go.He did not tell me who he read but the man working there seemed a great person and very easy to talk to.I'm only giving 3 starts because it is small and easy to miss, but I think it will be amazing in its new digs! They are still ironing things out so it will be awhile before this happens, but I wish them the best!
Jose Mejias: It was an interesting experience.
TRIPPPLEZ: The Children's Books! My Fav Part IS FOR THE KIDS OF THE FUTURE!!
Liesa Swejkoski: Close to parking garage which is a plus for me. Short walk. Small venue. Friendly docents. I learned a lot. I was hoping for more art by local African- American artists. Most was put away for the Henrietta Lacks display. She's my hero.
David Brown: This isn't a Museum, it's literally a room, please don't pay for parking, you'll waste two dollars or less, leave car running glimpse and come out.
Delma Washington: Like the quilt on lynching. Beautiful and delicate piece with a lot of thought and research put in it. The many people who have lost their lives what a tribute to them!
Alyssa Barber: This museum is overflowing with stories, artwork, artifacts, etc. I am excited to see them in a bigger space. Shoutout to George for being awesome and sharing a little bit of history and his journey with us during our visit.
a s: Similar review to others, a great place to visit with lots of information, with opportunity to buy original artworks. The space is small, but I had a nice conversation with George, a volunteer who mentioned a larger premises is being scoped out, which would hopfully give them the opportunity to also display their artifacts which are in storage. Some good local history and stories too
T B: Traveled from out of state to visit. I checked the website to confirm days/hours of business, and called the telephone number listed on the website to reconfirm. However, no one answers the phone, and when it goes to voicemail, the mailbox is full.****THANK U for the response. On my way to the airport, i had the opportunity to stop by for a quick visit. Very nice museum.
Sarah Hampton: I really like this place. So much history detailing the accomplishments of African Americans to this country, as well as the world.
Dawn Innes: Not much happening there
mike bolling: Very nice place just wish it was bigger
Lamont R Cole: This museum is a must see! Small in size, Large in knowledge!
alicia clarke: Wasn't much there to see
Patty Desrosiers: Very small not much on it. But had a great video on that we really enjoyed

Aubree Mosby: I appreciate that the employees try their best to keep the space as clean as possible. Activity-wise, it is heavily geared towards toddlers and infants. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s nice to have another space we can take our little ones to where they won’t be overrun by older kids. There’s just not too much to do. But there is ample seating for parents!
brittabrittrae: I'm assuming they spend their entire budget on staff and not on things to actually do here. I brought a 5, 3, 2 and baby with me and this place was full of photo ops, but very little to actually play with and do. Very disappointed. My kids were fairly bored without me helping them figure out what they could play with. I was surprised there wasn't any play structures for climing/sliding/and crawling (unless you count a single short slide). I was also surpised at how little stuff was in each exhibit. The play stores were very sparse, the train table barely had any pieces at all, the play kitchen was also sparse (more sparse than any home play kitchen I've seen...), and the temporary exhibits were even worse. The best part by far was the pretend Meijer store. My kids had a great time in that, the only problem being it's super fun for one group of kids, but it's not stocked enough for multiple families kids to do it at the same time. Next time I'll just take my kids to a park or the indoor Playlands that some churches offer for free.
Joanne Sanford: This place isn't as exciting as i remember it being when my daughter was a baby. It seemed much bigger then and like there was much more to do, or I guess much more that she was actually interested in. Need to update activities and not just themes to keep it exciting. We.first came here about 6 years ago and it is almost exactly the same. Also not very clean and organized although we were there at the end of the day. Gift store prices are a bit expensive however I do like that they offer a discount on admission if you have an EBT card. I believe we paid $4 for both of us to get in, then spent about $50 in the gift shop so it evened out!

Grace Nogueras: This is a great place to bring kiddos to get the wiggles out and to engage those little growing brains! The website lists the exhibits that they have set up, which I found helpful in navigating the building.I will say that this is definitely geared towards walking toddlers and up (prime age is probably between 3-9.) My little (1) isn't walking independently yet, so she was only able to get a little enjoyment from our time here.Rating 4 stars because the range of exhibits felt limited compared to what it's been in the past.

Elisa Jimenez-Pate: It was a clean train, nice and friendly staff. We wish there would have been some commentary about the town and history of the trail and railroad as we went on, but no biggie. We did get a newspaper with a lot of details and updates about the train.Would for sure recommend if you're in the area.
Patricia Williams: Great time
Nancy McMurray: We took the Bunny Train to celebrate my GGsons birthday. This was the 3rd time taking kids on their first train ride. They each loved the experience and remember it.Our 1st trip was with my GGdaughter (she was about 4) on the Santa train. Before going, she always told the Santa's she saw were helpers. When Santa walked into our train car, she grabbed my arm and told he was the real Santa. While waiting for the bathroom Santa invited her to sit with him again and they talked about cookies for 10 min.2n trip was with GG nephews for the train robbery. The boys loved it and interacted with the characters and partipated. The bunny train was with my 6-year-old GGson, and we were nt disappoint. We definitely recommend these rides.
Andrew Ferris: Went on their Easter Train, it was a lot of fun and very cool! My son who loves trains was glued to the window and the ride was perfect length to keep him entertained. Austin Goff: Did the Christmas train for the first time. I felt like I was in prison and just wanted it to be over. The train wasn’t festive at all. Just a quiet boring ride doing maybe 20 mph down the track. There was no caroling, no Christmas music, no cheer. I was expecting something much different. Would not recommend. It was fairly cold inside the train car and the windows had condensation all over them. Hard to even look outside. Lame. The few positives, I didn’t have to pay because someone else in our party picked up the tab, and the Santa they had was good at what he did.

There were no shades in the windows to block the beating sun. It was so uncomfortable, due to the heat and sun beating on us, we just wanted the ride to end. Complete waste of $150. Very disappointed 😔.Also….speaker system didn’t work well. Sound distorted. Boring for the kids. Need more entertainment.

Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium at the Grand Rapids Public Museum: what do users think?
Kim Pawloski: Just went Tuesday with my kids and grandsons. Had a wonderful experience. If you get Pat, who is a retired teacher, you're in for a treat. Shes a wonderful narrator, she really knows her stuff!
Jessica Short: The show was great in the planetarium and the staff was so wonderful with all the kids!!
Michael Schippers: A great experience.
MacWell Eastwood: This place is outdated. Plain and simple. Wouldn’t recommend. The Pink Floyd light show was so boring and the effects looked like they came from a 90’s computer screen saver.
M. M: Way too loud. Was so loud it literally made my ears hurt. Plus the show is pretty boring honestly. It’s just like a music video in space.
Jennifer Medina: DONT GET THE CORNDOG! It’s dry and gross :(. Other than that, this place is pretty cool
Sophia Gates: It was so much fun with all my little kids they enjoyed it so very much
pauline Sandoval: Narration was tideous. Might be helpful to have music break up segments. Photo and lighting excellent.
tattoo king: Kids love exploring
John W: Concerts under the stars!!!! Amazing.
Sel: The pink Floyd laser light show was awesome. I would gladly see it again.
Jen Cullimore: Pink Floyd laser light show was amazing!
Miranda Thomas: It was awesome!!
Eric Sherfield: Wonderful time at the GR public museum go during the week less crowded and popnology is a trip back in time along with Sci-Fi fan's of all kinds. 3 floors to check out at the museum prices are very reasonable and the planetarium is great for adults and children highly recommend
Jeannie Darling: The show was great. The seating was not. in an effort to maintain social distancing, entire rows of seats were roped off. This led to sitting right next to strangers with an empty row next to you. Half capacity is great, but the illogical way they tried to do made everything worse!
Brandy Kolhoff: Love It💜
Cindi Mitchell: It was amazing and beautiful!
David Alex: Loved it!
Jason Rebarchik: Fun, educational, good for kids and adults.
Tiberius Galloway: If you haven't been, go. If you know people that haven't been, take them!
Dave Swett: Awesome. Grandson loved it!
