Ghost Gays Podcast: Terrible “hospital” they killed my family’s dog by not doing the most simple test to check for flea and ticks. When we brought her to a real animal hospital, not just one that cares about money, they told us they could have saved her and that Blue Pearl should have had the sense to test for that. Incompetent veterinarians work here. If you want your pet to perish, this is the place to go!Edit after response: Unfounded? Please don’t use big words when you are 100% at fault for her death. I’m sick of you people taking advantage of people in vulnerable situations. Just today there’s a new bad review about how you misdiagnosed cancer in a dog! How does that happen?

Joseph Coyle: Every bad review you will read about this place is 100% true. They diagnosed my dog with hip dysplasia because of a limp in her back leg, recommended a $5000 surgery, ok can't hurt to get a second opinion right? Went to MSU Vet for a second opinion about two weeks later, turns out she had cancer. DO NOT GO HERE

Carson Wanty: Don’t go here! They made my family spend THOUSANDS in unnecessary tests. They took advantage of my family just to get their money. They did not care about our pet and now she’s gone. The Vet wouldn’t even come talk to us but sent out a tech, because he was too busy. Disgusting money grabbing business. They only care about the money, not if your pet lives or dies. Cascade Hospital For Animals is a MUCH better practice. Go someplace else your pet will benefit from it. This hospital is foul and its veterinarians and vet techs are completely incompetent. A simple test and a simple cure would have saved our family’s dog, but they didn’t do it and instead did everything else just to charge my family 10,000 dollars! Clearly they weren’t meeting their monthly quota as this hospital is just a business. They do everything in their power to not heal your animals so they can charge you a lot of money and tell you they can’t figure out what’s wrong. If you value your pets life, DO NOT GO HERE. Remember, this is a business that cares ONLY about the sales. If this were a real animal hospital, most of the veterinarians would be top if their class, I’m assuming these one’s graduated at the bottom of their class barely passing. How these people sleep at night knowing they purposely don’t cure your animal is beyond me. They haven’t responded to me because they know they are wrong and what they did was wrong. Based on word of mouth and the other reviews ALONE I would never leave my animals with these people. “Your review does not reflect our team” yes it does, the amount of dead pets should speak louder than the owner of the practice. Dan Hunter: Undoubtedly the worst vet experience I have ever had. If I could rank this place with a negative star, I would. We sat in the ER room for 3 hours with very little communication and hitting the “call” button in the room for help did absolutely nothing. If there are more priorities at the vet, we completely understand but would like some sort of communication that they didn’t forget about us. By the time we got to talk to someone we had lost all trust in them. They wanted to take our dog to the back to give them an IV and we didn’t want to get stuck there for another 3 hours waiting for our dog so they came to our room and it took a whopping 5 minutes to get everything she needed and then we could finally leave. The vet said she would email a report over to us with OTC medicine and a diet to feed our dog during this time. That report took 12 hours to receive and did not state anything to do on the report just rest. So we had to call the office again to get the right information. Lack of quality and care. Never take your pet here.

Jack Wanty: I can’t believe you swindled thousands from my family. Do not go here, staff and vets are rude and don’t care. You made our dogs last weeks of life MISERABLE because you refused to do the simple tests that would have help, which is quite common with her symptoms. Instead you did all the tests that are extremely expensive and charged my family 10,000 dollars. I would never suggest this “hospital” to anybody ever.

Sean P: Drove 45 min because my dogs nose was bleeding and wouldn't stop. Got there at 4pm waited in the room for 6 hours no follow ups and nobody came to check on us. Doctor finally came in and my dog was barking. The vet got scared and backed herself in the corner and said ill come back when he calms down. Another 45 min later she came back and looked at him then said i need to think about what i can do to fix this so she left room and was gone another 45 min. I got tired of waiting and left the hospital. Never going back to this place.

Dave Gavette: The hospital was very prompt in assessing our dogs issue and scheduling immediate surgery. Unfortunately, two days later the vet/surgeon acknowledged she may have missed something during the surgery and our dog was paralyzed. The animal hospital continued to charge us an exorbitant amount of money even though we had to make the difficult decision to euthanize our pet due to the unsuccessful surgery.

Kathy Webber: Wowza so thankful for this place.We were far from with an injured Pooch. So many places turned us away. Ember was great and had us get here as soon as we could calming my nerves. When we arrived my girl got in pronto and received top notch care. On our way home already ( 40minutes ) with my fur baby cleaned up and meds she needed.

They were extremely helpful in caring for my cat, understanding my concerns, and answering all of my questions. The price is reasonable considering it is an emergency hospital, I would highly recommend Blue Pearl if you ever find yourself needing an a emergency vet.

jblock321: I took my cat in because was fell over while eating and was stumbling over when walking. He has some chronic conditions and recently had labwork done elsewhere so they ended up doing a few necessary lab to get new values. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong other than dehydration and possible blockage, but that was ruled out before he left. I ended up spending a few hours and almost $700 just for them to run a few labs, give him fluids, and send us on our way, with no diagnosis. Friendly staff, but left still really concerned without answers.

Steve Cox: Very over priced! One night cost me 3500.00 and they told us 6000.00 -9000.00 to treat my dog . We took him to his regular doctor the next day and he was treated fully for 500.00 and he is doing great. We almost had him put down because of this place! I don’t know how these people sleep at night knowing they are taking advantage of people and their pets! Sickening!

Britney Smit: Absolute waste of time. Spent 3 hours and $400 just for them to spend 2 minutes "examining" the dog, give him fluids and send us on our way, even though he was vomiting blood. They didn't even get a diagnosis or anything. Friendly staff, but not much help for the price we paid.

Kathleen Tejeda: Every member of the staff that worked with my pup was extremely friendly and tried very hard to make her feel comfortable during the appointment. The vet (Dr. Niederhuth) and nurse (Kayla) took their time with the appointment and answered all of my questions in detail. Dr. Niederhuth was very knowledgeable in the subject of our appointment (canine epilepsy) and gave us the most complete picture of our dog's situation and prognosis that we've gotten so far. Also the shortest I've ever waited for a vet appointment and was not as expensive as I thought it would be!

jan smith: Our 6 year old Shih Tzu, Maggie, was diagnosed with an aggressive mast cell tumor. She had surgery at our local vet then sent to Blue Pearl for her chemo treatment. The staff at Blue Pearl is outstanding. It’s expensive but we worked it into our budget. After 6 months of chemotherapy, follow up scans for 6 months we walked out of the office cancer free. Thank you to Dr Swanson and a very compassionate staff. Our hearts are full tonight. Jan & Terry and our sweet Maggie Mae. ❤️

Melissa Dawes: I just want to start off by saying, I am very grateful my dog is still alive. However, I can't help but feel like I was taken advantage of financially. My dog was hit by a truck and the damage was quite extensive. I took him to my vet to have him looked over, they did an xray and let me know he would need surgery and gave me a quote for my vet to perform the surgery. She said she would be happy to do it but felt it would be better if I took him to this vet as they were short staffed and the ER vet has people there 24/7.I brought him to the emergency hospital, after waiting in my car for 45 minutes they let me come inside and advised me the best course of action in his case would be euthanasia which I was absolutely not ok with. I talked to them about my vets quote for the surgery to which she responded "oh no, it's going to cost way more than that". Their quote for his surgery was nearly 3x my vets quote. It seemed like they gave up on my dog without even trying to give him a shot. I feel like I was quoted super high so they could get out of doing the work. I was also called during surgery and she said she didn't feel like it was a good idea to wake him up from surgery, I begged her to do her best. He made it out of surgery and I was able to bring him home 2 days later. He had a check up with my vet 2 days later. We told her the cost of everything through the ER vet and her jaw hit the floor. She checked him over and inspected his incision. His incision was not properly closed. There were several staples that weren't holding anything together, they were only in the skin on one side of the incision. Skin is folded over and not healing. My vet has to perform another surgery to repair his incision, cut out dead tissue and scar tissue. Good news is that the repair from the impact is holding up but I do have to pay for another surgery to fix something that should've been done properly the first time especially because of the amount of money I had to pay. Hopefully, I don't have another emergency situation like this ever again but if I do, I will not be choosing this hospital.

Tim King: Quickly got my cat in and held him overnight. Gave us consistent updates and plans moving forward to treat the troubles he was facing. I would recommend this emergency hospital in times of need. It is pricey as you might imagine, but not as much as other emergency vets I have been to.

Miles Madura: Had to edit because I've had another trip here recently.I've been here twice and they have overall great service and well-informed staff. Sadly, how busy they are will affect the quality. My first visit was rough as I tried contacting them for an update on my pet several times with the phone going unanswered.Expensive, but it is reasonable with it being the last minute and 24/7. However, not being able to wait with your pet while they are are hurt and stressed is very difficult.

Laura Ebels: My husband and I were less than pleased. We brought our dog in on a Sat night d/t vomiting. We were ordered out of waiting room to wait at home or in car. We got a call a few hours later around 130 am with a diagnosis and treatment plan. 1. Inpatient stay with fluids and nausea rx. 2. Fluids and nausea and home care for respective cost of 3800 or 1300. Never saw vet. After hearing this we trusted them even less, and at 2 am took our dog home. The next morning we went to another urgent care, where I could sit with my dog in the exam room and actually speak with a vet. We got fluids, antinausea medicine, antibiotics and medicine for home, AND FOUR CANS OF DOG food that is easy on the pancreas for 380 dollars.Basically cost us 550 dollars to wait in a parking lot with no care.

Edie Nurnberg: We recently had an emergency with our kitty. It was on the weekend which is devastating when your pet is in pain. So glad we called. The trip ended by having to say goodbye to our baby. They are super! Very compassionate! Thank you for the TLC!

Staff was helpful and friendly, and updated me regularly on her condition, as well as my options moving forward. A few weeks later, her follow-up blood work came back normal, and she’s feeling like herself again

He was loved & treated amazing by staff.

Kristy Baisch: The check in / registration process was a bit of an issue (a little much for a stressed out pet owner to try and navigated from a phone while their dog is in distress). However, the staff were friendly, patient, and understanding. The vet was the same. They were upfront about what they were doing and why. Answered all our questions without making us feel stupid. Discharge and at-home care instructions we detailed and thoroughly explained. Expensive? Yes, but it's emergency care so of course it's going to be more than your regular vet.

Ally Levoy: My senior beagle had a seizure late at night, he’s a pretty anxious boy and is almost completely blind. The staff at AEH was so kind and patient with me from the moment I called to tell them I was coming. They made me feel so comfortable leaving my boy with strangers and took wonderful care of him! They communicated with me through text updates and explained in detail his condition and treatment moving forward when I picked him up. I cannot recommend them enough for emergency services!

Me Not-You: After getting a second opinion I am even further disappointed w the service i received here.They do not take accountability for the prices and services their staff discuss w you... and I just had the same operation at Fur wellness on Plainfield for a literal fraction of their estimated... Like were talking a 500$ difference.The vet at fur wellness also said my cat was not suffering from reabsorption in a tooth. I was so confused as the vet at Westwood said it was bad enough she needed surgery.I am so happy I moved on from Westwood as it felt like they were overpriced and only care to make profits.Ps, thanks for the nearly expired Royal canon food 😤, try refreshing your stock.

Courtney B: After moving back to MI after several years in Chicago, I needed a new vet for my French Bulldogs. We had our first appointment today at Westwood Hills Animal Hospital. It was a great experience. We were greeted warmly and were placed in an exam room immediately. Our tech today was Theresa who was wonderful. She was patient and thorough to ensure she had an accurate history and made sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed. She updated me on all vaccines and services needed to get them up to date and let me know about costs along the way. We then saw Dr. Barczak who was equally as wonderful. She helped me determine best next steps for some skin and allergy issues my doggos were having and she was so friendly and pleasant. My dogs loved them both and were calm and at ease throughout the appointment. Great energy from the entire staff. Start to finish a fantastic experience and I am so happy we picked Westwood Hills for our new Vet. Thank you so much and we will see you again at our next check up.

Audrey Hoisington: Eastown is the most incredible, compassionate office I've taken my cats to. Every time we go in the staff is warm, friendly, and eager to help however they can. Dr. McDowell is extraordinarily patient and kind, and I could not be happier to have them as my vet. All pricing is explained and detailed out so it's not a surprise at the very end, and you never feel "pushed aside" if pricing IS a difficulty; everyone is there to help. We brought our newest kitten to Eastown, and were fortunate enough to have been able to say goodbye to our oldest at Eastown. I cannot say enough how much their caring and thoughtful approach to animal's health means to myself and my fur babies.

Conner Wagner: My perfectly happy healthy dog goes into Eastown Vet clinic for a checkup and comes out paralyzed in his back legs and needing to get emergency weekend surgery to fix his back for $8600 in hopes to be able to walk again.I would highly recommend caution to anyone new thinking about going to Eastown Veterinary Clinic. As mentioned above my perfectly healthy dog went to Eastown Vet clinic and immediately following the checkup I noticed something was very off. He wasn’t acting himself, wouldn’t jump into the car in the parking lot after the visit as normal, wouldn’t climb my stairs when we got home, couldn’t get comfortable. I thought it may be the vaccines he received so I waited it out. Next morning comes around and my dog is completely paralyzed in his back legs. We had to take him to get emergency surgery over the weekend 2 hours away to treat a ruptured disc in his back which all and all cost $8600. My dog is back home now but there is a long road to recovery with hopes he can walk on his own/normal again. I just don’t understand what happened at Eastown Vet that caused this. They try to tell me nothing out of the ordinary occurred when they took him back. This happened on Eastown Vets hands and they need to be accountable and help with funding. I have tried to talk to management several times and their communication back to me has been very very poor and delayed every time. It seems they just keep trying to push this under the rug. Several days past the date they told me management would reach back out, I received a letter stating Eastown Vet will not be supporting any of the funding of this because they don’t find this to be their fault. This is very sad and disappointing. I know something happened at Eastown Vet clinic to my dog and they are not taking responsibility and at least helping out with some of the bills. A dog doesn’t just go to a Vet and come out paralyzed by chance.

Carly Cook: I love how compassionate and sweet and the staff are with our dog, Tucker. He can be a nervous boy sometimes, but he is always comfortable in their care! They truly treat our pets as if they were their own. He’s always waiting for the vet techs to come back with more peanut butter or treats! I also always appreciate the transparency with the cost of the visit and breakdown of services before we get started. Always makes the process less stressful!

Sunflower Vibes: I was really impressed with the care my dog received. I’ve never been to a vet that took as much time to make it a positive experience for him. Very impressed as well with how quickly the clinic was able to assess his lump and determine that it was benign. I’m excited to get his teeth done here as well because of the care of the staff and the technical skill that this clinic has with dental work. Finally, I really appreciated how much the doctor listened to me and how interested she was in my questions. Our last vet would cut me off and assume what I was going to say and then come to a conclusion about my pet’s health before I could finish. That previous clinic also had him stay still on a tall exam table that scared him. I didn’t know a vet visit could be so positive for my dog. What really made all the difference for him was being able to do the exam on the floor, doing things at his pace, being able to move around, and definitely the peanut butter. He was very excited about the take home peanut butter in his end of visit bag! I don’t think he will be scared to visit the vet in the future.

Meaghan Lamm: The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly and the doctors are incredibly thorough in their examinations and explanations of care. I especially love that they give you an outline of all the charges and costs BEFORE the visit so you're prepared and there aren't any surprises. Absolutely could not recommend Eastown Vet Clinic enough!

They take their time with her, make her feel safe, and allow us to hold her for some of the more scary (to her) exams when her allergies flare.Our first experience was during the pandemic when our foster fail ripped her toe nail off and they got her right into urgent care to fix the toe and scheduled us first thing that Monday to get our anxious girl her much needed anxiety meds. Night and day difference.They also take such excellent care of our big orange cat and his bladder issues. He loves the attention he gets under their care and always leaves on the mend.The staff, vets, techs, and front office people alike, are wonderful caring people. The services are excellent and the prices are fair and reasonable.We are so grateful to have them care for and love our pets as much as we do!

Kara McCollum: 1/26/23 Back with an update, FFVH is the BEST! I brought my corgi in to get her blood checked to make sure her meds weren't too hard on her kidneys. The Vet tech David went out of his way to trim Gypsy's nails. I was hesitant to ask for this service since they were so busy, so I was pleasantly surprised when he was proactive and took care of it before I even asked. I was beyond grateful! They also didn't charge me for the nail trim or physical (granted she was nervous so they could only really listen to her heart). Please give David a raise! You couldn't ask for a more professional, proactive, and caring staff member. His genuine care for the animals and owners is very apparent. Thank you David, and Family Friends! :)I brought my corgi in last night and the team and vet were wonderful. The vet was almost an hour late because of an unexpected surgery that needed to take place for a pup. I didn't mind because Kim (Vet tech) checked in on me and got some of the other things done that my pup needed (temp check, heartworm test, etc) while I waited and invited me to grab a pop in the lounge. The vet came and checked my senior corgi out and gave her a shot and some meds to take home. I would highly recommend FFVH because of the caring, compassionate staff like Kim and Dr. Hagen. I will be a loyal client for life!

Haram Gil: We took our dog to the clinic today after hearing glowing reviews for both customer service and veterinarian skills. Our first impression of the clinic was an older lady standing by the door who did not acknowledge or greet us. Not a big deal. However, she was the first of four people, including the veterinarian, who did not greet us, which I believe is a universal customer service skill. This continued onwards to a condescending way of checking in, starting with confusion on our dog's name (Roo is pretty simple to understand in English), to our appointment schedule, which we made 2 months in advance. We have been to Plymouth Road Animal Clinic and Animal Emergency Hospital, both of which were far friendlier, patient, and insightful in taking care of our dog and needs. We do not recommend this clinic for its horrendous customer service experience and incompetent clerical work.

Emily: I had been going to another vet for years with my animals. When I was faced with the unthinkable and had to go in to my old vet at an unscheduled time I was slapped with a huge bill, and as I was grieving (mind you it was maybe 10 minutes past) they came in and told me it was time to go. After letting me know it was time to go, they led me to the front desk to have me pay.I was appalled, and switched to another vet, they were a little better but at the time told me my dog was perfectly healthy on all fronts and I had nothing to worry about. Fast forward 8 months and again I'm faced with the unthinkable and this vet said they overlooked it because their equipment was "not the best technology".I immediately called Breton Village Animal Clinic, explained the extremely unfortunate situation and even not being a patient they were able to fit me in right away.Dr. Buffa assisted me in one of the hardest moments of my adult life and was so incredibly sweet and compassionate. I remember telling her "I don't know how you do this for a living" because it has to be so difficult even for her.Not only did I feel heard and respected at this office, but I felt like she genuinely cared and a review is nothing compared to the gift she gave me that day.After the visit they let me be invoiced so I didn't have to stay in the office any longer than I had to, which was something I was incredibly thankful for.I have since switched over to this clinic and I am so pleased with everything they have done for me and continue to do.Not only that but they have amazing hours and their emergency service/ hours are so far the best I have found in town.It's not typically what you think about when choosing a vet but things happen and you want your Animal care team to be there for you and Breton Village Animal Clinic absolutely was for me.

DT: I have been going to this vet clinic with my dog for over two years now and I think it's time for me to leave them a good review because they certainly deserve it!My dog is accident-prone, so we usually have 2-3 visits per year on top of her yearly exams. I feel so supported and welcome whenever I go to Standale Veterinary Hospital. They have managed to squeeze us in for a day-of appointment on many occasions. My experience with the Doctor Haskins and all the support staff has been nothing but positive. They seem to genuinely care and have helped us out multiple times when urgent issues have arisen.

Taylor Arraut: I have a small army of cats and have been looking for a vet to set them up with. I am so glad that I found Dr. Haskins and her team! Dr. Haskins and her team are are very knowledgeable, personable, and our cats love them.Standale Vet was even able to get me in the same morning when I had a semi-emergency. My boyfriend is a paramedic and found a baby kitten by itself outside while working one morning. It was so young that I wasn't sure how old it was or even what the gender was. Dr. Haskins was able to get little miss kitten in and let us know that she was about 4-5 weeks old and healthy. Dr. Haskins has provided us with plenty of information to help us integrate kitten to become part of our cat army.

Scott VT: We brought our dog and two cats to Dr. Haskins for years and thought the service was great for routine care. But when our dog needed care for kidney failure and one of our cats needed oral surgery, we had very bad experiences with both her and her staff. The issues are too extensive to list here, but it adds up to inadequate care for our pets and a serious lack of follow up and professionalism for us. In addition, we sent a detailed letter of complaint on 8/12/21 and as of 8/29, we have received no response from her or anyone in her office. I see all of the positive reviews, so maybe this is an exception. It is nonetheless unacceptable. We actually weren’t even fully aware how bad it was until we switched to a new vet clinic, where the care, communication and follow up have been significantly better from the first visit on. I have a feeling this review will be dismissed in a response. If so, so be it. But please know that this is an honest, factual review intended to help people in the process of looking for a place --and people-- to trust their pets lives and care with when it’s most needed. For that, based on our overall experience at Standale Veterinary Hospital, we seriously recommend that you look elsewhere.
