B J: The website used to be easy to navigate but now it is confusing to get the answers you want.
Sirjaymes: The organization has allowed some of the most vulnerable in the community to fall through the cracks. Although never benefited from their service (even when in need) I have always supported the Heart of West Michigan United Way. I can no longer support this organization after I discovered that organization has imposed a prohibition on providing assistance From the tax payer funded CERA program to needy individuals and families who live in motels. The purpose of the CERA program was to provide help to those who have been negatively affected by the pandemic. This prohibition is not only grossly unfair it penalizes those who are most impacted by the pandemic solely on the basis of their living situation. The denial fails to account that many individuals including myself have been forced to live in motels as a direct result of COVID pandemic. When allocating these funds neither state or federal guidelines established the prohibition. Therefore it is and wrong for United Way to arbitrarily imposed guidelines for the benefits which and others would otherwise qualify for.

Becci Schumaker: I would recommend and urge people to go out and volunteer here. Also grab some paper bags and have fun decorating them. These bags brighten up a child's day. Our Wyoming Lions Club volunteered for two hours and had so much fun. This would be a great opportunity for families to do. Our group has colored 138 bags. We are doing another 500. Please consider spending a couple hours helping out a great cause.

Said we didnt have to book a hotel because they had a discount at one and would set it up the day before. After days of talking to Renee and the hotel we were told it would be taken care of. The Ronald McDonald house was terrible about contacting us back. As we are getting ready to leave today they call us and say theres no room so they will get the room at the hotel. After not hearing anything for two hours after leaving they called and said that there was no room for us at either. The lapse in follow through and concern has now cause us to not have anywhere to stay the night before my sons procedure.
Jennifer Buck: I had to stay here 2 times for 8 weeks each time! This place is amazing and offers passes to those that stay to visit surrounding events and Museum! Im so grateful for the hospitality they provide.

SJ WJ: We used to love Mel Trotter. Always something there for us. However, I was looking at a desk that had the sliding pricing, and after xxx date, the desk would be $15.99 (a good price as the desk was in pretty bad condition and needed serious sanding and refinishing). We went in a couple of weeks after that date just to shop around, and imagine my surprise when that exact same desk was in the display window priced at $75.99! This was about the time that all of their prices were marked up to obscene prices. We will not shop there, nor will we donate there any more. Huge rip-off for donated, thrift shop items.I know it's "for a good cause" but if no one will shop there because of the prices, are you money ahead or money BEHIND?

Murtiag (Murt): We had some furniture picked up from our house, and they ripped the power line off of the side of our house, and then damaged the furniture and the house (ripping a door hinge out of the wall and destroying the frame), and didn't make much of an effort with the repairs.Their stores are the most expensive thrift stores in the area.They're not compassionate toward the homeless.Need more be said of a ministry?
Devin Dely: Proud to be a part of the aweseome staff and mission here. This place has grown so much in just the two and a half years I've been here, and it's so reassuring to see that each new change is considered with the guests' best interest and dignity at heart. That makes me proud to work here, which isn't something I can say about every organization I've worked for. The relationships I've been able to build with the people we serve has been a blessing.
Johnny Brammer: When I needed a blanket they could not do it the staff said. I needed shelter and the works program. I couldn't get help. They say a lot but did little. All I got is a mell trotter I'd card.

I went there looking for help for me and my son. Thay told me I should just worry about my self. Again have tex to prove it. Not only that every night there was a stranger sleeping in my bed. Thay told me to get over it. Thay only want government money the whole time I had a job and thay still didn't help only gas lighted me.will be going to New and Social media to prove every thing I'm saying.

RICHARD Glover: It's better now that there remolding however the overflow staff bathroom is horrible and needs to be removed from the shower area. Black mold, plus security needs to fix the taking other people beds,they also need more sheets, blankets and towels and pillow cases
Robert Fowler: Was there for 5 days. Tested positive for covid. I have no symptoms but they send me to the old hope house and put me in a room with a nasty dude who has multiple symptoms. I could die but trotters keeps filling their coffers. Being 57 with underlying health issues I take this seriously. I am a Diabetic
