Grace Simpson: From our initial tasting to the wedding day Gilmore has been great to work with. Angela and Lori are super responsive and made helpful suggestions to our menu. We received so many compliments from guests on how delicious all the food was, especially the beef short ribs! Dinner was served quickly and all the food was hot. I would definitely recommend Gilmore!
Madelyn Buhrman: Gilmore Catering is the best!! We had to switch catering companies TWO weeks before our wedding. Yes, you heard that right- two weeks!! Gilmore Catering was organized, accommodating, and made us feel so at ease with our decision to switch to them. They were all so incredible to work with and their food was amazing!!!! Everyone loved their meals!! Sheena was incredible to work with and made sure everything was perfect the day of. We are so incredibly thankful we used them last minute for our wedding!! Spencer Bonahoom: AMAZING for wedding catering! Simplest way to know how great it was: we had a dozen or more guests tell us this was the best wedding food they have ever had. My bride and I were taken care of perfectly - they waited and served us when we had a moment to sit down between greeting guests, so we actually got to eat at our wedding and the food was delicious. The planning process leading up to our wedding was great as well. They has a private tasting for us and our parents, which many other caterers would not offer. Highest recommendation for Gilmore Catering!
Dawn Zwiers: So Rude! My son and his fiancé' had an appointment to taste food from Gilmore for their upcoming wedding. We arrived at our scheduled time (per the email she received) and were instantly treated like something was off. We were then informed that they had us scheduled for an hour earlier and all our food we were supposed to taste was gone, because "how could they possibly keep it warm for an hour?" When we attempted to show them our email, we were quickly dismissed. No apology, no nothing. They finally offered to re-schedule, but, my son had flown into town for this appointment so that wasn't possible. We were left with a very bad impression of Gilmore and wouldn't suggest anyone contact them. Apparently they're doing fine without catering 120 people weddings.
Richwood Industries: We have worked with GIlmore catering to throw our yearly company party for a number of years, and for each event it is a pleasure to partner with them. The staff is amazing, the venue perfect, and the food is delicious. The past 2 years have presented a number of challenges due to COVID, but Gilmore has consistently gone above and beyond, continuing to make each experience with them incredible. We will continue to partner with them to throw our events and think you should too! Thank you Gilmore for your 5 star service!

Tom Armstrong: Sunday July 11 we had our daughter's wedding. Gilmore Catering provided our meal and bar service. Everyone said the food was delicious. All the staff was very professional and friendly. Our Senior Event Manager, Charlie Harmon, was spectacular!! He made sure everything was perfect. He went above and beyond what his role was. He helped place extra tables, provided advice and even provided the Mother of the Bride with a handkerchief! His calming presence was very much appreciated. He was the reason our event was everything the Bride dreamed of. We can't thank him enough. Team effort, I am sure, but he was a brilliant Captain. We highly recommend Gilmore Catering because of Charlie Harmon!!

UU Nguyen: Kim, the person in charge to help me with my wedding catering was rude and impatient. I was surprised by how she spoke with me, considering I was the customer (and bride). Instead of helping make sure the catering ran smoothly for my wedding, I felt more stressed.For the wedding another employee was present to ensure everything ran smoothly and I'm glad for the switch because she was more professional.
Jim Simpkin: We attempted to have dinner at Gilly's on March 28 following the Trump rally. We waited at the host station for about 20 minutes before the host acknowledged us. He very rudely approached us and asked "do you have a reservation?! You won't be seated for at least 2 hours if you don't have a reservation!" The restaurant was less than half full at the time and we were only requesting for a party of two.We were not wearing any political garb and my friend is an African American. Based on how rudely we were treated I'm left with only two conclusions. The host was either racist or had hate for anyone he assumed went to see president Trump. Even if he had some other reason to mistreat customers in this manner I'm certain neither of us will be patronizing the BOB in the future. We were graciously accommodated at another BUSIER establishment shortly thereafter.

Kristen Inglot: We viewed their venue back in November 2021and it was a beautiful space! Patti was super nice showing us around and it seemed like they had a lot of amenities! We ultimately decided not to go with their venue, but considered them for the caterer. The tasting event was very tasty and well put on. We also ultimately ended up going with another caterer, but I think they are a very good and reputable company.
Stacie Gilberg: I cannot believe how amazing our food was for our wedding! All of our guests commented on how great it was! Even down to the fact that the potatoes were so good you didn’t even have to put anything on them. Thanks to them, dinner was easier than I could have ever imagined, and everyone was RAVING about the hot dogs! Very accommodating with a variety of dietary needs, excellent bar service, delicious cake and cupcakes. I couldn't find something to complain about if I tried! If you're looking for a caterer on the west side of MI, they are the ones you want, hands down!
Kayleigh Van Wyk (Fongers): We hired Catered Creations for our wedding on August 5 and we still talk about the food and still get compliments from others about it! Patti and the entire team did a great job. We had pulled pork and BBQ chicken which both had great flavor. The sides were great too, although the corn bread in particular was AMAZING. We also did appetizers and did dessert (ice cream sundaes, which were a big hit on a 90 degree day.) Everything was so good and just the way we wanted. Patti and her team were very accommodating to new ideas or requests, had good communication, and provided great service during our event. I thought it was nice that one of the staff members came through the buffet line with me and held/filled my plate so I wouldn’t risk spilling on my dress. My husband and I highly recommend Catered Creations!

Tim Kroll: What a great company. This family owned catering business is hands down the best catering company in West Michigan. All their food is scratch made, including most of their marinades and sauces. The owners, Gary and Patti Zylstra, are a class act who have poured their lives into this business. Wedding season is up on us. If you are looking for a caterer who thinks of all the details for your reception, including a 5 star meal, then look no further than Carered Creations!

Storm Raven: Inquired about my wedding next year months ago, and was told one thing over the phone. Then today after I finally decided they were the service I wanted to go with I was told in an email that they were only accepting clients in 2022 who were also paying for their bar service. Wow. Might as well just come out and say my guest count is too small, and I'm not worth their time. I was not told this at all when I spoke with Patti 2 months ago. I don't think that was very professional at all. I'm sure there are plenty of other caterers who see the beauty in an intimate wedding instead of dollar signs. To that end I've had their food at a friend's wedding, and it was not the best I've ever had. Dodged a bullet I guess.
Meghan Smith: I got married a few days ago in late October and let me tell you the service was great! The ladies and gentleman helping work the buffet were super friendly and kept checking on me if I needed anything through the night. My guests loved the food however my groom thought some of the meat products fell short, seemed dry. I personally really enjoyed the carrots and loaded mashed potato’s! Just based off service I would of gave a 5/5 stars.
Sharla Verstraete: Excellent food, and large quantities of each item. They were booked for the day we needed them but were willing to make the food the day before and give it to us cold. They gave us instructions for heating it, and was wonderful! We had Shredded Beef Brisket with BBQ sauce, Maple Bourbon Chicken, Molasses Baked Beans, and Red Beans & Rice.

Liz Rethman: Our mom's 80th birthday celebration was a huge success, thanks to the awesome food and service! We had so many guests tell us how delicious the food was. We will definitely be using Above & Beyond Catering again!
Jeni Wolfe-Sabo: Everything was delicious. Biggest compliments for appetizers were the goat cheese dip with tomato jam and tuna poke wontons. Buffet dinner with all the options were great. London broil with rosemary excellent and awesome mashed potatoes. The staff were so friendly.
Graff Rockford: We used them for an open house brunch and we’re very pleased. Sammy helped us pick out the menu and kept us updated as to due dates. She’s very communicative. The food was absolutely delicious: the waffles were perfect consistency—not too hard or soft. Bacon cooked perfectly, the sausage was absolutely amazing, and fettuccine with chicken and broccoli excellent. We had a ton of leftovers, so I think their per person servings must be substantial. It was delivered on time and set up by friendly staff. I’d certainly use them again.

Ondrea Havemeier: Above & Beyond was phenomenal to work with for our bougie brunch wedding! We did hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, a waffle station (HUGE HIT), some paninis, and an omelette station. People are still talking about how incredible our food was and it is months later! The set up was very classy and the staff who worked the event were hilarious and made our event even better. We are so glad we went with A&B for our catering! I definitely recommend them for any event you may have. We will definitely use them in the future for any other events we have!
Alyssa Frese: I cannot say enough wonderful things about Above & Beyond Catering. We have had them cater multiple company events. The food is always delicious and is a good price. They are so easy to work with and have amazing communication and response time. Their candied bacon and Swedish meatballs are our favorites but all of the food is incredible. I would highly recommend booking them for your next event.

When I reached out to Above and Beyond Catering I had a response right away. Communication was excellent and prompt the entire time and I did ask a lot of questions. The day of the event their team was on time and extremely professional. The food was delicious and they really did go above and beyond! They were just amazing! I highly recommend them. We had a buffet style event and everything was hot and delicious! Just amazing, I cant compliment them enough.

Julie Vipond: I went to my nieces wedding on Nov. 10. Everything about it was wonderful except the food from Above & Beyond. The pasta was dry, Chicken was so dry I couldn’t finish it. Beef was ok but nothing was great. Just such a shame for all the money they spent on a really 1st class wedding in every respect that the dinner wasn’t up to par with the rest.

She has such a wealth of knowledge and experience and is overall just a lovely person. We chose to serve a plated dinner with a choice of Beef Medallions with a Pinot Sauce, Bruschetta Chicken and Bean and Kale stuffed Portobello. We received so many complements about the food. It was delicious! She also helped us to set up the desert and coffee stations. The whole experience was exceptional! I would strongly recommend Above and Beyond for all catering needs.

Opus Events: We provided DJ service for a private event catered by Above and Beyond last night, and besides the food being delicious, the staff was so kind as to check in with us in the DJ booth, bring us food, etc. They treated us great, and we were just other vendors, so I can only imagine how well they treat their clients :)

Kylie was very responsive and organized during the entire time we worked together. There were so many praises from everyone, even our photographer said that it was the best food he has ever had at a wedding.I also did not have a wedding planner, and I truly appreciated that Above & Beyond was one of the only vendors I did not have to worry about. We would highly highly recommend using this company. Everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Our office not easy to please. Requiring both healthy and delicious. Chef Evon knocks it out of the park every time. She is a very talented chef that is pleasure to work with. I have no doubt that your guests will say it is the best food they ever had. Kirsten Friend: Selecting Maddalena's to cater our wedding was the easiest decision I made through the whole process. Amy was so responsive and set us up for a tasting early in the process and the food was stellar. We moved forward with selecting a buffet option with some add ons and I'm so happy we did the buffet. Guests were so excited to have options!!! The apps were also a big hit and we're still hearing from guests how delicious everything was. The salmon was my favorite and my husband loved the crab rangoon tacos, but everything was amazing. I was so impressed that the food tasted exactly how it did for our intimate tasting when done for a huge group of people! We also opted for Peppino's late night pizza and that was a great addition for our guests.

Jill Paauwe: We booked Maddelena’s for our daughter and SIL’s wedding prior to even doing a tasting based on Google reviews and are so glad we did! They were our best wedding vendor. Amy was so helpful all the way through the process. The food and drinks were creative and incredible! They worked with us closely to choose food and drinks and even recreated a special couples choice drink. Their charcuterie boards are works of art. So many guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. You can not go wrong with Maddelenas!
Meg Nicholas: We used Maddalena's as our wedding caterer, and got SO many compliments on how good the food was! We knew from the menu tasting it would be amazing, but they executed the buffet really well on the day of (especially for being off-site), and everyone was really pleased. Amy was easy to work with and very knowledgeable. Their food is definitely a step above other catering companies in Grand Rapids, in style/presentation, taste, unique menu options, etc. You may pay a bit more, but it's TOTALLY worth it (you get what you pay for, and for us, food was a big priority for our wedding). We didn't use their alcohol services, so I can't comment on that, but food was awesome!!
Kat Krukowski: We used Maddalena's for our catering for our wedding this fall. I have nothing but positive things to say. They have a dynamic duo between Amy handling all things for the customer and Matt the genius behind the food. I was a type A bride and had a very specific vision for my wedding. Amy & Matt worked with me to help create my vision with a beautiful charcuterie/grazing table. I was also very nervous about the timing of our plated dinner being served but the wait staff the day of were on top of it. Matt's recommendations for food plated style were on point. Our guests raved about the food the next day. All to say, I cannot thank them enough for working with me and responding to my endless emails to make this day extra special and perfect for us. I highly recommend Maddalena's, Amy, and Matt for any future catering needs.
Stacey Dukesherer: From start to finish, working with Maddalena’s was incredible. We held my daughter’s bridal shower at their venue and everything was amazing. The food was delicious and the chef was beyond accommodating for food allergy requests. We also hired them for the wedding reception and could not be happier. Again, the food was delicious and the staff was wonderful to work with. They did such a great job making sure the buffet was fully stocked, dishes were cleared and offered to help in any way! I truly enjoyed working with Maddie and she made sure everything turned out exactly how I wanted you to it! Deanna Kwasteniet: Maddalena's was AMAZING! I work for a law firm downtown and do tons of catering, these guys are doing it right! Maddie was very prompt in communication and able to accommodate all of the needs we had for a large ArtPrize reception, the food was well priced, fresh and delicious and provided a great variety, the bar and staff were very friendly and well equipped to make the night run smoothly, they are a well oiled machine and we look forward to working with them again soon.

Everything was cooked perfectly and served hot! Maddalena’s knocked it out of the park and blew all of guests away. This was no small feet since we had some tough critics in our group with many of them working in the food and beverage industry and we also had a significant amount of food allergies.My best wedding advice is to trust the professionals you hire. I knew wanted a plated meal and was hoping for steak to be my beef option but Matt, the chef, knew better and expressed why the braised beef short ribs was the better plated option. I trusted his knowledge, experience, and talent and I couldn't be happier that I did.And you can't review Maddalena’s without mentioning Amy. Her reputation for customer service proceeds her, and rightfully so! Every compliment you read and hear about her is true!Maddalena’s certainly earned the 5 star review!

Brittney Wright: Maddalena’s is incredible. First off, Amy is a star. I loved working with her, and she went above and beyond to make sure that our menu was perfect for the day of. With all of the complications that COVID brought on, she worked hard to not only cater to our family tables, but to me as well. I ended up with food poisoning from the rehearsal dinner vendor, and could not eat anything on the day of the wedding. Amy and her staff made sure that I had food packaged up to take home, and boxed up some of the late night snack for me. Truly amazing and so thoughtful.Now for the food. After speaking with our guests that attended the wedding, Maddalena’s food was the top on their list. Many said that they’ve never had wedding food as good as ours was. My husband and I definitely echo that sentiment. Everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you!!

I worked closely with a lady named Ashley throughout the whole process. She answered all my questions and gave solid advice. You can tell she has been doing this for quite awhile. We had stations where guests could create their own combinations, and the staff helped to explain what the choices were and give advice about flavor combinations if asked. The staff was wonderful to work with. They were all extremely professional and friendly. We had guests with dangerous food allergies, and Vault Catering did an excellent job keeping track of who was allergic to what, and preparing the food in a way that kept everyone safe. I cannot say enough about the quality of the food and the professionalism of the service! We didn't have to worry about one thing related to the food for our wedding, which allowed us to just relax and enjoy our day. Hats off to Vault Catering!

Sarah Stenberg: Distinctive Catering was amazing to work with. My husband and I had attended one of the tasting events and ended up going with the taco buffet and it was a big hit! Our final count and those that actually showed were fairly accurate and we still had leftovers to take home. We also did appetizers and those went over well. Sarah Schultz: I attended a friend’s wedding recently and I provided the wedding cake for the evening. Distinctive catering’s food was pretty good however I let one of the staff members borrow my knife and spatula and showed her how to cut the cake and she told me she would leave my tools behind to pick up. I did not get my tools back and I have tried to call this business multiple times to get in touch with someone about picking them up, thinking they might've been taken by accident. I have not been able to get in touch with anyone. I have left multiple voicemails and emailed and still no response. I dont understand how anyone books an event with them if nobody is ever answering the phones.
Erika Richiert: I wanted to go with distinctive for my wedding. I originally wanted full service. When I asked about signing a contract and placing a deposit I was told that full service was not available and that I would be provided plastic dinnerware. Ok-fine I was going with a different bar service and that was already discussed. I sent over the deposit yesterday on 4/19, and then got to work signing the contract. It was there that I came across a policy stating that no outside china can be at the wedding. Surely I can provide my own glassware seeing that they are unable to and I’m having a different company provide bar service? Nope. They are also refusing to refund my deposit, which is very strange given THERE IS NO CONTRACT IN PLACE. If going with distinctive make sure to read the contract BEFORE sending over the deposit.

Claire Hamlin: Highly recommend distinctive catering. We had the build your own BBQ at our wedding, and our guests absolutely loved it. Our photographer (who has shot hundreds of weddings) said it was some of the best wedding food she’s ever had. They are extremely reasonably priced, easy to communicate with, and overall just a good company to work with. The food was incredible!

The food tasted delicious and they worked well last minute changes to our dinner time. They were quick to clear the tables when guests were done eating. Our guests raved all night about how good the it was. The workers were polite and pleasant to work with. They packed up all of our leftover food at the end of the night for us to take. Their pricing was very competitive when compared to others, but still had the same quality if not better.I will say that we requested strawberries to not be included in the fruit salad because one of our guests has an allergy, and they were still included. We had that guest avoid the salad, but I was a bit disappointed because this was something that was communicated to them and I was advised they would be removed.Overall, I would recommend them to everyone though.

They did great on our wedding day and the food and bar service was amazing!Our only complaint was the communication leading up to the wedding. Certain details that we confirmed 10 months out from the wedding that we were told were "recorded" were never recorded and had to be reviewed a few weeks prior to the wedding. We also felt that there was some pushback on requests that we thought were very normal.As far as the bar service, Distinctive offers very traditional packages. If we were to do it again, we wish we would have had the ability to add seltzers to the bar offerings. However, we know this is a new trend and have been to other weddings that have not offered them.All and all, we would definitely recommend Distinctive Catering to anyone looking for an affordable quality bar and catering service!

Michelle Dowty: We used DC for our wedding! Overall our experience was pretty good- they always responded quickly to emails, allowed us to make changes to our menu frequently, and the food on the wedding day was really good. We did attend a tasting before our event and were not very impressed, but we had already booked with them so we just changed a couple items for our wedding. To our surprise the food was much better at our wedding and we were very pleased. I only have a few complaints: we thought for the money we paid it was ridiculous that they couldn't set up and tear down the included table linens- we had to make two trips out to GR from Kalamazoo to get them before the wedding and return them after the wedding. However, it was in the fine print of the contract so it's our own fault for not realizing that. We also didn't like the fact that we were only allowed to use plastic silverware and plates. We asked about hiring a separate service so we could have real dining wear but were told they would not clear tables if we used another company's dishware. So in order to have the tables cleared for our guests we had no choice but to go with the plastic they provided. I was a bit disappointed that there were several dirty plates left on guests tables at the end of the night. DC left long before the wedding ended so there were just dirty plates with food randomly on tables all night, including my table and I was the bride. However, the food was good like I said and they kindly boxed up a lot of our extra food so we could take it home which I did not expect.
Jennifer Smith: We choose signature buffet, the food was delicious, service was professional and above beyond. They accommodated our dietary request for a handful of vegan meals to meet guests needs. Served a wheelchair bound guest to aid her husband and got us threw dinner service on schedule. I would recommend Distinctive Catering for future events.
