Brenda Chadwick: Funeral Director, Liz went above and beyond during the funeral for my 7 year old grandson's mother. Liz was kind and attentive and answered questions for him and us and even kept him entertained while the adults were greeting those attending. Gorsline should be proud to have such a caring employee.

Teresa Silk: UPDATE…My mother in law got a call two weeks ago saying the death certificates came in and were to be mailed immediately. She called last week to check on them and they hadn’t mailed them out yet. I called yesterday b/c as you all know it is very important on your finances to have that death certificate in hand to move forward with finances and benefits, I was angry when I called and told the lady that answered to have the Director call me back but of course I didn’t receive a call so I called this morning and the same lady says let me check your status, Oh they were mailed out yesterday. Imagine that!!! And did I hear back from the Director, not at all. Very poor customer service and having to wait for those should have never been the case. They should have mailed them out the day they called to say they were in. No excuses!!We sent in pictures and unfortunately they all did not get put in the video. It kept replaying the same pictures. As soon as we noticed it in the website we called and they said they would fix it and never did. It was only a handful of pics that they uploaded and used and we had lots of pics as they said we could have as many as we wanted. They also got the date wrong and we had to tell them twice and the day of the funeral service as well. We ordered the food in the package and supposedly the caterer was supposed to have containers to be able to take the food home in and there was nothing so we had to leave a lot of food. Just keep an eye out on those things, especially the pictures that can mean so much and want to share with family and friends. That was important to us and most certainly the date of your loved ones passing. Those two things should have been corrected immediately.

Cathy Lienberger: We arrived as a family at the funeral home. We were greeted by the members of the staff. We handed them my husband's burial clothes. They dressed him and they allowed us as a family to view him and take pictures. Then they put him in the Hearst and took him to the cemetery. Courtesy was abounding. Deborah L Jackson: It was hard to get the funeral home and cemetery to match a date and time. It was a long meeting with the funeral director who had to keep leaving for various reasons. They have been slow returning phone calls and doing what you ask. For instance I forgot a nephew who passed away, called them asked that it be changed for the newspaper. What it changed for the newspaper No. They had five days to do it. My family has used this funeral home for many years with no complaints about their services.

Heather Dashner: Everything started off great with the initial visit, I was pleased with my choice. However, that was the extent of ease. The paperwork didn’t get filed in a timely matter which means it took forever to get the the death certificates and nothing could get accomplished. We called a couple times to check on the status of everything and the woman we worked with was extremely rude to my mom as she ensured her everything was submitted. We called the county and they informed us they were waiting on paperwork from the funeral home. We called the county back a few days later and they told us they still hadn’t received the required paperwork. We again called the funeral home and were told everything was filed. It was later that day that the county received the paperwork. Once we finally got the certificates, the date was incorrect. There were belongings that were originally missing but HAD to be on the deceased. The funeral home said they checked but would recheck for good measure…they found nothing. About a week later, after the cremation was supposed to take place and after I spent $600 on key fobs, I received a call saying they had found the belongings “deep in his pockets”. How hard is it to check pockets?!

Geoffre Trimble: Please just don't there are more, better, people out there.Poor form, even the Director that I chose to use in the end told me that has been doing this over 20 years and he has never see a body come to him like this.I sent my mother to these "butchers" to prepare her after after she passed to be sent to another state.To start, they almost dropped her down my stairs and smashed her head on my railing while taking her out of the room. I did let this slide because the guy almost fell as well. But when I saw her after the preparation and the transportation.... she looked like they threw her down the stairs, or hung her body up and used her body for kicking bag. She was purple. The only part of her not purple was her face. They also refuse to talk to me about this. I have been trying to collect her clothes but they have no empathy. The director over there hung up on me because I was distraught. I would never use them again. Please reconsider if you think of using these people.#moreLansingfails

Kathy Finley: In this most heart breaking of times Palmer Bush Jensen Funeral home was the most compassionate and helpful business to work with. They were not pushy and listened to everything we had to say. They were so accommodating as this was a somewhat complex service due to Covid. They have truly been "full service" as they take care of you before, during and after the death of your loved one. They have reached out several times to make sure I am doing ok and even have grief/support groups should you need it.I can not recommend them enough.

The funeral director was patient, compassionate, and always available to answer questions and make any changes I asked for. The viewings and funerals were as good as funerals can be. My parents looked as if they were sleeping peacefully. The staff were all friendly and helpful. If I ever need funeral services in Michigan again, I will definitely be calling Estes-Leadley. In addition, my ex-husbands family continues to use the services of Estes-Leadley for all of their funeral needs as well with nothing but positive things to say. I give 5 stars and highly recommend Estes-Leadley to anyone in need of funeral services.

Wendy A: They don’t even deserve 1 star. The way they mishandled my dads funeral Lance Lynch and his assistant should be in jail. They took his wedding ring and other jewelry off my dad and lied to my mom and said he was buried with it. The jewelry was later found in a desk drawer. They canceled my dads last alarm with the fire department and sent the fire trucks away. His interment was 3 hours away and we followed the cars. We arrived about 5 minutes after them. The casket still wasn’t placed over the grave and cars were still pulling in. The assistant screamed at my mom, grabbed her shoulders and shook her for making him wait. After the funeral we as a family met with Lance Lynch to discuss our concerns and all he did was bully and threaten my mom. I’ve waited a long time to tell people what a crook he is. Don’t go there. I now work in the grief industry and I can’t believe he’s still in business. Funerals are so expensive, give it to someone who isn’t a snake. Your loved ones deserve better.

Tracy Hue: Estes was wonderful with us when my dad passed unexpectedly in 2012. They made the arrangements to bring him home from the Cleveland Clinic. They did not pressure us into anything and helped as a go between with the life insurance company. They also helped with obtaining death certificates for us. They were very compassionate. The same is true still. A few weeks ago they took care of once again with my grandmother's funeral.

Wayne Simpson: We had Riley Funeral Home perform a direct cremation for my mother-in-law. We found them to be kind, warm, efficient, and they went out of their way to get us the death certificates fast when we needed them in a hurry. And they were much less expensive than some of the others we contacted, for exactly the same services. I liked that they are a family that's been in business in Lansing for a long time. No complaints here.

pbp1221990: My dad just passed away on the 10th of December. I've never had to deal with any loss like this. They were extremely helpful. He just wanted to be cremated. We are still waiting for the call for when they start the process. They are still waiting on the death certificate. They've been absolutely friendly and helpful to me in this difficult time and I appreciate that so much. They even let me see my dad one last time. They set him up in one of the rooms after hours just so I could see him one last time. That meant the world to me. Thank you Riley Funeral Home.

Jenna Spruytte: This is the worst funeral home ever. DO NOT GO HERE!! All we wanted was a direct cremation for a friend. It took them 9 days to get the body cremated. That is sick, it does not take that long. I have cremated my mother, father and sister and it was done right away. They never return any phone calls if you have any questions and very rude when you finally call and get them on the phone.

Marilyn Richardson: The visitation/viewing was 12 days after death, that's too long. It did not look like him, that was a travesty. Did not clean him well. Blood on mustache/ mouth area from autopsy dirty fingernails. They did not offer water till after I went and bought some.autopsy, fingernails were dirty from working on cars, not sure if they are to do that.

Angela H.: I gave a 3 because the service was very nice, flower arrangements were beautiful. Employees were polite. But I'm very traumatized by how terrible my brother looked. The make-up they put on him looked awful. It was very caked on, and blotchy. He didnt look like himself. I've seen a lot of dead people, but I've never seen the makeup look that bad. I would understand if he was dead4-5 days before he was found. And they had to cover up a lot of bruising and discoloration.

My husband was concerned with a spot on our daughter's face and the gentleman working got someone over there to fix it right away. ashley davis: I am extremely disgusted with the treatment I received from this funeral home. I spoke with a Kevin who was very nice and helpful. My grandfather passed away and he was a WWII vet. Kevin provided me the pricing, took all my information and set up a time to come in and finalize all of the arrangements on Wednesday. I receive a phone call from a Paul who advises me they will not provide services to my family and gave no explanation other then “we just think you would be more comfortable with another funeral home.” I stated that I did understand why they would refuse service when everything was set up. Apparently because my mother (my grandfathers daughter) got on the phone and was emotional, so we were causing problems. If you can’t handle or understand that people are going to emotional during these times, then you are in the wrong business.
