Brightwell Behavioral Health: what do users think?
Christine Smith: Former employee who got fed up with the lack of leadership or accountability from management. They have scorned majority of their staff and don’t care if they lose good employees. They blatantly have a host of OSHA violations. They almost never have enough staff so most of the workers are from an agency. How they are considered a mental health facility is beyond me. Nobody leaves this place any better and a ton of them come back again and again. They let the patients run wild quite literally and there are zero protocols for disruptive and destructive patients. They are essentially a fancy jail for old people. Good luck with your Covid outbreak and letting Covid patients “wipe things down” just further spreading it all around the building.I was the ONLY cleaner there so enjoy the disgusting pit it’s gonna be too🤭
Robert Shadduck: Hmm where to start, I think I read one reviewer call out Wendy's post who is the GM of this facility, seems very unethical to post a glowing review of Brightview when you are the person who runs it without disclosing that information.NO NOT trust her, she flat out lied to my families face when she committed to delivering the long awaited Care Plan and other supporting documents on what the dr's, social worker & any therapists might be providing to her or recommending for her care. We patiently waited for that information which never came in most instances until when my mother was released and in reviewing the documents there seems to be a lot of conflicting statements. This is a new facility they should NOT be using paper records when there are Electronic Data Management systems available which is a lot hard to manipulate...such as time/dates, if /when you speak with your patients its appropriately documented this should be mandated not sure why it's not.Do your homework on this facility and have a plan and be sure they provide you with one as they didn't do that for my family though we asked daily!
Dan Shadduck: I had a family member recently admitted to this facility. Access to family member was difficult, due to the restrictions which were put in place. Extremely poor communication with staff, and not contact with Social Worker, nurse practitioner, or physician. No involvement in care plan or after care plan. Attempts to speak with treating staff was unsuccessful, regardless of the numerous attempts to coordinate care for our mother. No return calls regarding discharge. This "treatment facility" is like a "nut and shell game". Family was not involved in the discharge process
accounting receivable: So here’s the funny thing. The first review, when I posted this on 2/15/23 was posted by Wendy Briggs. It’s a 5 star review. What Wendy does not disclose is that she is General Manager of Brightwell. Now I don’t know about you but it seems a general manager is downright unethical not to disclose that you work a less than Brightwell if you write a glowing review.Wendy take down you review, it plainly dishonest. I bet the other glowing reviews are employees too!
Lynn Wiand: If I could give this place zero I would. BEWARE- this company has 260 violations out of 374 which is a failing grade - in 2022. To date this company has not responded to MDHHS for these violations. They will stonewall you - they will not provide information you may request regarding your loved ones. They say they will but they don't. Repeated requests (at least 3x daily) for the plan of care, social work notes/observation/ psychiatrist notes. My mother signed a release of her records ALL records and they would not comply. The social worker would not return calls. Do not send your loved ones here. Food servings and portions poor at best. They do nothing but plop people in front of the TV. There is NO face to face interaction with a psychiatrist. My family will be filing a complaint with Medicare, MDHHS and the States Attorney General. We did not choose this facility - the hospital sent her here. They did not give her the medication she needed the night before her release but I will bet anything they will charge her insurance or medicare for the services. Oh and it is important to note that the people giving this facility 4 stars or more are the people that work in the facility. They did not have a walker for her when she was a fall risk - we had to bring it in for my mother AND there was a wristband that clearly stated she was a high fall risk.If you have a choice do not send your loved ones to this facility.
Dan Snapp: Great caring staff. Clean setting and knowledgeable providers.
Jeff Nielsen: Interesting, today the least....
Robin Cohen: More like a lock down than a hospital. No therapy or sessions to speak of.Constant monitoring to make sure you are not going g to harm yourself or anyone else.Good staff.A big melting pot of patients with different diagnosis all lumped together. After being there about 10 days, I came home better.Crazy place but, I'm glad I experienced Brightwell.
Lianna Iacob: Quentin is very good, my mother very much appreciated his approach.Records never sent me any information that we twice got release forms filled out for and they never sent her PCP any of the records for her discharge plan (besides the medications she was on).In terms of treatment, she did not receive any formal treatment there since the methodology is very casual. If you approach the social workers they will chat with you but most of the treatment is visiting briefly with a doctor and psychiatrist and numerous recreational therapy activities (art and talk therapy).Another concern was the lack of exercise that she was getting in addition to not being able to go outside.Other than that the head nurse and staff were very helpful and kind, as well as reception.
Nadine Carlson: Rich, Brighwell's Clinical Liason is amazing at making connections and making sure the needs of clients that use their services are met. He is a Master at Community Development and creating systems to benefit those needing Behavioral Health services.
Hugh Randle: Brightwell Behavioral Health is a great addition to the community. I have worked with Rich Nollen and find him to be compassionate, caring and interested in peoples overall well-being…Thomas ans Emmitt are also great members of the team that share a common goal of providing great care and ending the stigma of taking care of a persons mental health
Brian Wilson: I have met Rich, one of the RN's from Brightwell, and have been impressed with his passion for mental health and care for the elderly.
Amy C: I wouldn’t recommend this place. Tried to get someone in there and was told two different things. When I called and confronted them I was told they both were related. I honestly feel they care more about the businesses bottom line than who they will care for. Just my opinion!
Abby Mikol: Brightwell has a lot of awesome intelligent people working for them! They have caring staff who try their hardest to take care of every single client! I personally know some of the employees who I believe are fantastic nurses and caring social workers. Mental health is needed in this time, especially because of the pandemic. It’s very easy to be angry, depressed and lost. And it’s good to know there are caring health professionals who can help!! Thank you for all everyone does!!
Bev Hoeve: Communication is not dependable. My questions were not answered in a timely manner. They wanted to discharge my husband to his current living facility even though I made them aware that facility was not equipped to meet his current needs. Staff threatened to call Adult Protective Services if he was not discharged that day! Social worker then agreed to find a suitable care facility. After 10 more days at Brightwell my husband has been moved to a new facility only because I made phone calls to find a place for him!
Jason Allaire: Brightwell Behavior Health is an awesome and much needed facility. They care a lot for their patients and really do the best to serve them. I have worked with Rich Nollen and he is amazing. He works really hard to bring to light the state of the art psychiatric treatments that Brightwell offers. Facilities like these are needed more and more and Brightwell does a great job caring for patients.
Steph Groves Clark: A much needed addition to the Lansing area. This staff was wonderful to work with and the discharge process for one of our patients went very smoothly when transitioned back home. I look forward to working with all of you even more!
Mandi Goodnoe: Such a wonderful place for the seniors who need this type of care. A long over due need for the community. So grateful for their services, the staff is so caring and professional.
Wendee Green: My mother has Alzheimer's disease and was sent to Brightwell for inpatient treatment of her agitation and anxiety, as her memory care facility was unable to manage her symptoms effectively. While she was at Brightwell, the medical team did not provide her with the supervision required for someone in her condition and she was involved in an "inappropriate" incident with another patient. She was ultimately sent back to her memory care facility, with only a minor adjustment to her medication, and no improvement in her agitation and anxiety. A facility that lacks basic competence in *supervision* of Alzheimer's patients, not to mention a lack of competence in medical treatment is not a place I would ever recommend.
Gary Johnson: Very compassionate and professional staff that enjoy working with seniors suffering from mental health issues. Brand new facility located in East Lansing near US-127. Especially impressed with the clinical liaison there who can really make challenging times much easier for families struggling with their loved ones issues.
Natasha Wilkinson: Wonderful asset to our community. Serving a population that is underserved. Beautiful brand new building, with quality staff that cares!

MSU Health Care Psychiatry: what do users think?
Everette Morningsong: Called them to make a new appointment, was sent to voicemail and told not to leave multiple messages, left my info, then they never called back. Poor patient management and service.
Vasa Weinstein: I began seeing MSU psychiatry sometime last January and it even started off bad. They lost my new patient form and then told me they were not accepting new patient forms when they told me I had already begun the process some months before. When I finally got in, my psyche prescribed me a new medication and then went on leave. I was notified of this the day before my appointment and was told she would call me to make an appointment when she was back. They gave me no time frame and I was left on a new medication to fend for myself with no help from then. When she came back, I got a threatening voicemail saying if I did not show back up, my prescription would be cut off. Obviously this was scary and hypocritical as they had no problem turning my medication out before. When it finally came time to see my provider, I waited half an hour on the zoom link they sent me, only to be marked as a no show when the doctor didn’t show up. Obviously, this was super frustrating as I just wanted my prescription. My final straw was when I was marked and billed as a third time no show when I received no auto-call reminder and had never even had a second no show, as it was on MSU. For someone seeking mental health help, this added to my stress and they did not help me at all.
Quentin Martinez: Worst experience ever. Shuchi Khosla is the least compassionate person I have ever met. We did not click and didnt want to deal with her attitude so I asked to switch to somebody else. This woman confronts me about it at our next appointment and after that, she tried to get me to stay a patient by sweet talking me and telling me what I wanted to hear. Her attitude was suddenly gone. I dont need somebody to be fake to me. Taking my business elsewhere due to staff not know what professionalism is. Maybe she should think about quitting her job if she is not going to be compassionate and listen.
M Algil: I’ve had many psychiatrists over the years, and I’ve always had pleasant experiences. I’ve also never written a bad review for any business or doctor or anything, But I unfortunately have to do so now. This Is how my experience with MSU psychiatry has been thus far:Day 1: I called to become a new patient. They took my name and phone number and the guy said they would call me back in 24 hours.Day 2: Nobody called.Day 3: I call back and explain that I’d like to become a new patient. They again take my info. They say someone will call me in a few hours. This time, someone calls me back, but all they say is something along the lines of, “I can’t help you become a new patient.” Then why did you call me!?!? She transfers me to the same dept I’ve already spoken to twice. They take my info and say someone will call me back.Day 4: Nobody called.Such a bizarre experience.UPDATE:Day 5: Someone called, finally, who could help me become a new patient. She said they are mailing (not e-mailing) me a packet to fill out, which I will have to mail back. Once they receive the packet, it will take 2 to 3 weeks for me to get an appointment.
Adam Bargiel: The doctor who I saw was very good and I liked seeing her. I had to stay away for a couple months due to some medical conditions and I received a letter saying to call if I still need to be seen or they will have to discharge me. I called within a week and made an appointment to be seen because it was needed. I even cancelled 2 business meetings that day to schedule the appointment. They called me back over a week later to say that, " oops, I have been discharged and I can't come." Very unprofessional and my opinion is if you really want help, then look elsewhere. Like I said, the person (Allie) who I saw was great. The clinic itself does not care.
Devon Harrison: I called to reschedule an appointment & they sent me to the college of human medicine. MSU is high key I competent :)

Sparrow Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic: what do users think?
Edward Smith: Last week on May 9, 2023 my son was released from the clinic. When he came out he had a pair of shower shoes on his feet. I asked him where were his gym shoes (A brand new pair), that he wore when he was admitted. He said they told him they had misplaced them, along with two Vape Cartridges. However in checking his bag his other property was there. I really don't believe the property was misplaced. I think they have a thief working at the clinic, that's what I think. When you confiscate a patients personal property you are accountable for securing that property and returning it to the patient at the time of their discharge. There's no excuse what so ever for this to have happened. Maybe the clinic should look at how it processes and secures patients property. Patients expect to be cared for, not ripped off.
Scott Rose: I have heard nothing but good things about Sparrow behavioral health! So I have been call every month since December 2021 in hopes that they would have an opening for me to see a psychologist, but each time I’ve been told there’s no openings! When I called June they said to call back mid July because they have a new doctor coming at the beginning of August! But when I call in July I was told there no new doctor coming till September and to call back in August. I called mid August and was informed that the new doctor coming October and to call in September! So today I called again and was told there’s no new doctor starting in October and if I haven’t gotten help by November to call back and see if I here any new openings! I feel like I’m being lied too and can’t understand why a hospital staff would do this! I’d love to give one start for the treatment I’ve received over the last 11 months but I’ve given 2 stars because they have helped people I love and care for in the past!

Community Mental Health: what do users think?
tina lilly: I've been trying for the last 4 months to get help and support from this company and I got pushed out as if they can't help me. My PTSD, Depression and anxiety unstable and they act as if they can't help. I see why people self harm and don't want to seek help anymore.
Rockin Robin: Does nothing to help suicidal juveniles. Does absolutely nothing but pushes juveniles away with safety plans. No support for parents as well, even if through crisis the crisis center. Absolutely no help year after year! Therapists lie about help/supports bring provided. They refuse to have psychologist evaluated juveniles when they are hospitalized for being suicidal. They don't care how many times you stop a juvenile from hurting themselves or killing themselves. Won't prescribe her medicine to help or anything!!! They refuse to help juveniles while medicaid makes you go through them and people wonder why suicide rates are hiking and mass shootings are happening. No one helps our juveniles no matter how much a parent cry's out for help!!!

Community Mental Health: what do users think?
Rebecca Yoder: My daughter has been having severe mental issues and nobody seems to care. With the exception of one woman who called me back, nobody is helpful here. My daughter has been turned away 100% of the times she has turned to this place for help. She needs help immediately! She is out there alone in the streets of this city. It’s affecting my mental health for her to go without help!
Inimical Atchley: How to leave contact info or connect with those detained? Need to make her aware of a number to reach out on for support. Hard to provide clothing, hygiene and food (if possible) if we cannot connect with each other.
J No: horrible disgusting old man makes the decisions on whether or not you can leave. No psychiatric help at all. Just making you sit alone in a room indefinitely.
IzZy B: Great place great staff. I definitely suggest starting here and then work your up and out. A plus in my journey
J R: Went there after my doctor unexpectedly retired , was coming off meds that can kill if not done correctly, was in crisis, the crisis center told me to take magnesium and that unless I was homicidal or schizophrenic they couldn't help. 10 months later my life has fallen apart. I tried to reach out again for help with the same song and dance
John mann: I hope I can get the help I need when I move to Lansing Michigan on August 8th 2022
Tim Tim: This place sucks.there problem lays right inside with therapistYou thought I would stay he'll noGo to down road about half mile to bella way better people that does listen
Desiree Wright: If you have private insurance don't even bother taking your child here. My child has been here twice in a year and doesn't qualify for any services because we have private insurance but no providers are taking new patients. My child is falling through the cracks and no one cares.
Freddie Arthur: Great community staff
Larry Webb: I was told that because I have private insurance they had no way to place me in rehab. I was told to go home and figure it out. 2 hours later I have 12 referrals that accept my insurance. If you have private insurance give it up they aren't going to help. Most uncaring people (with some exceptions) I've ever met.
Wallah Swipper: They need Xfinity QR codes ran over they cars
Diane Baker: They are terrible!! I went to the emergency room there after driving around for 4hrs, crying and wondering where I could get help. Someone talked to me, they were not helpful or attentive to me and sent me away without any help at all. Nobody is aware of the poor who need help, only the rich!!!

Lansing Institute of Behavioral Medicine: what do users think?
Lauren Schott: I love my provider Annemarie so I really tried to stick it out, but I will both be leaving and finding another practice as well as my husband, a patient of 10 years. Ever since Lifestance took over, it’s been absolutely terrible. No returned phone calls, impossible to get a hold of, even in an emergency like running out of medication. They push the “portal” for communication and appointment requests and completely ignore it. Half the time the phone lines don’t even work or haven’t even been set up yet. It shouldn’t be this much work. It’s almost comical how bad it is.
Mary Gillengerten: The support staff is a joke
Emma Haynie: They never return phone calls and they let you run out of medications that are vital. The staff is rude, inconsiderate, and doesn't know how to use technology. The receptionists, nurses, and nurse practitioner are careless. Do not go here.I had to go without medications that I am prescribed to function because PA Margaret Keesler did not know how to send it through electronically with their new system. She said she would look into fixing it and call me back, but she never did. I went through so much suffering because of this.
April Baker: This place is a joke They schedule for a telephone appointment and when you call them because you have been waiting online for 20 minutes and they tell you the Dr they gave you is bad with telephone appointments. Why would you schedule me with that Dr then? And then tell me oh the Dr is 30 minutes behind ok well why would someone not reach out to me and tell me that instead of making me hunt someone down to find out why the Dr has not got on. Sorry but I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
IntuitionsbyNiko: The receptionist/ people to deal w on the phone are not the best. Kind of rude for working at a Psychiatrist office especially. Like any doctors office they make money from prescribing you meds so they will push it maybe more than you need.. I wouldn’t recommend going through them and find something else in the area if possible..
Brandon Bath: This place is terrible. I've been a patient for over a year because I loved my doc, but thankfully he left so I can follow him. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone besides the receptionist who has no ability to get ahold of anyone else in the company apparently. Somehow it takes multiple days to get a note for work, even when promised to have it by the end of the day. The software they use for the e-appointments is terrible. But don't worry - they still charge you for your appointment. Go anywhere else but here.
Austin Ellsworth: Been a patient for 6 years here. Will be following my doctor to another practice due to LIOBM being bought out by some out-of-state mega corporation. Now all communication is automated, even BILLING questions need to be directed to an out-of-state number which nobody answers and leave a message nobody returns. New mandatory paperwork which is very restrictive and patronizing. Trying to get to the right place to begin a video visit is very difficult with their awful website. You have to search through all the providers in MICHIGAN to find your doctor and this is how you are told to access your appointment every single time. This is like walmart or mcdonalds or amazon tried to do mental health care. The office wasn't great to begin with, but now it's hellish.
Emilee Haines: I had a conversation with Sarang Patel yesterday and he turned my day around. I was having such a bad day but his humor had my stomach hurting from laughing so hard. It was a breath of fresh air for me. I wish more providers had that type of humor!
J: I have seen Dr.Meland for 8 years. He's saved my life. The office has always been professional and polite. I've dealt with them for all of this time and they've great.
yvonne hyden: I have been going to the Lansing Institute of Behavioral medicine for many years and I've never had a problem concerning anything. Dr. Picone and his staff are caring and understanding, and are Much appreciated.Yvonne Hyden Wright
Bill Nurenberg: Just want to say thank you so much to Olivia and I'm so sorry I forgot the receptionist name for all the help yesterday.Your job is not easy but the crises we had and the help you gave my daughter by getting her some meds called in thank you so much.I just wish Insurance company could do a better job in helping you guys I feel for you all.But again thank you for all you do not enough credit is given to the people like you that work so hard.
nick schutt: My doctor is fantastic but the nurse practitioner Sam is horrible at returning phone calls and flat out doesn't do her job... your business model is to prescribe medication to patients who have medical issues. So that means you need to make sure they have their refills on time. I call and after 36 hours and multiple voicemails she decides to call and tell me she doesn't care if it's on time or the fact that she had 36 hours to do her job. Instead she wants to debate if i should have it on time and that expecting a call back or the job done is setting the bar too high.....you need a new job because you clearly do not understand the business model or the fact medication is not meant to be taken will nilly. You had plenty of time to do your job and you flat out told me yeah you don't care and that you are not filling it....if my doctor wasn't as good as he is I would never use this place. 36 hours and no call back! If you don't have the staff then hire more people because that's plenty of time. Went medication is meant to be taken daily and you are out then guess what your job is to fill it so they have what the doctor prescribed. I'm very disappointed
Trevor Strzyzykowski: What is going on that the numbers don't work anymore? This is kind of scary. I can't find a way to schedule my appointment--its super frustrating. Kind of important a mental health provider lists a working #. No email? No phone? No online portal? ?? --love my actual provider that I receive care from.
Christina Miller - French: I see Doctor Roy Meland(psychiatrist) & Marilyn mcLain (therapist) both of them are Amazing at what they do.. They've always been respectful, kind and made me feel a 100% comfortable weather be in their office or over a zoom appointment I would highly recommend them both because I truly feel they care about their patients well-being & mental health.
Jessie Boyd: I’ve been going here for about 8(?) years and I love them! I understand how awful it is to try to get patients their medicine when trying to work around insurance etc. so I know it’s sometimes not nearly ideal, but they’ve been very helpful. I see Dr. Mahabir who is an ANGEL and there has been a new (ish) receptionist, I think his name is Lance who is so sweet and nice!
Sheri Conaty: Terrible about getting back with you and the nurse will call not your doctor even if you are having a breakdown they do nothing except tell you to stop your meds and wait for your appointment which is over a week away.
Shawntia Morgan: I've been trying to get medical records for almost two years... And I still don't have them, as a matter of fact one of the receptionist brung up the fact that I filed bankruptcy (like what does that have to do with me needing my medical records), well I guess far as she was concerned (the receptionist), I didn't deserve medical records, because my request never got fulfilled.
C.G. Fitzgibbon: If I could give no stars I would. Please don't put your mental health in the hands of this practice. Your emotional safety is genuinely not a concern of theirs. The office staff and nurses are uncooperative at best and the doctor I had - Angie Stathopoulos - was absolutely unprofessional and unconcerned about patient well being. They let you run out of medication even when you call and contact them repeatedly, no call and no show your appointments (something I have never had a doctor do to me, let alone multiple times), and are defensive to the point of combative if you bring anything to their attention or try to make a complaint. My bringing up the issue of my doctor not respecting my time and letting me run out of meds was met with genuine anger. This professional psychiatrist exchanged harsh words with me before discharging me on the spot when I raised a concern about my treatment.
Alli Turner: I have been a patient at LIOBM for almost a year. I like my doctor, Dr. Lake, but the receptionists and nurses are terrible. Both me and my pharmacies have left many messages to try to get my medications in, but they rarely answer. I’m never able to get ahold of them. I am left having to get emergency pills because they don’t answer in time. I just left a voicemail about 5 minutes ago, trying to get my medication in because I just used up my emergency pills. The wait for a refill of my important pills begins now...
Lori Sue: Friendly staff. Non-judgmental. I highly recommend this place.
Hannah Safferman: The doctors are ok but the receptionists do not do their jobs. I have had them cancel appointments or have not been able to make one when needed. They rarely answer the phone but it’s better to call repeatedly all day until you reach a person because they never respond to voicemails!!! sometimes the mailbox will be completely full. I have run completely out of medication multiple times because I cannot get a hold of anyone in the office to request a refill. even though the doctors are good, it is not worth it and I plan on changing immediately.

Par Rehab Services: what do users think?
Amanda Loznak: I'm honestly incredibly surprised by the negativity in some of these reviews. I just went through testing with PAR and could not have had a better experience. Jasmine did my evaluation and was wonderful, kind, and patient, and explained everything very well with the actual evaluation and next steps. I met with Dr. Fabiano for my results and again had a great experience. I learned a lot that I wasn't expecting to, he was very good at explaining things and had some great recommendations for me moving forward. The entire process from initially calling to schedule the appointment to getting the results was about a month (had results within about 2 weeks of the evaluation). I would definitely use them again!
Ezra Soria: Pretty good
Dave Hendrickson: I have 1 star because I can’t give a worse rating. I have been trying to get ahold of someone for around 3 weeks now. This is so unprofessional. I’m not even sure if people still work here.
Nadiyah Solis: When I finally did get to talk to the doctor, she was amazing but the staff was so rude and unhelpful that it took about a year to get that far.
Grace Boyle: Poor patient care and understanding of situations.
crystal d: During intake testing I had my first ever panic attack. I was crying and hyperventilating. I asked if there was somewhere I could lay down for 10 minutes. They did provide me a place to lay and the person who performed my testing basically was like well we close at five so do you have someone who can come get you? She showed no compassion to me whatsoever. Find a new line of work.✌️
Ivy Herron: Despite taking my secondary insurance, I can’t be seen because my primary insurance isn’t accepted at the office. This took 2 weeks to tell me, despite being assured that I’d be called back by the next business day to schedule an appointment. I called several times and got no response during these 2 weeks. I am now almost out of medication and back at square 1 for finding a psychiatrist. Extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism regarding timely callback (especially when THEY told me when they’d be calling) as now I’m not going to be able to get in somewhere else in time. Will be sure to *not* recommend this establishment to everyone I know.
Casey Ruiz: Called to ask a simple question and because I wasnt looking for addiction help only an evail he said sorry and hung up on me. WoW!
Karen B. Howard: Son's come Far.... 5years of Convulsions caused closed Head Injury. Helped w/Confidence, Works Part Time Process tests for New Driver Again! Never Stop Thanking You for Help/Support Over past 12+ Year's.
Shelley Hagman: They have failed my grandson miserably.
