We talked with the owner, looked at a few models, paid more than I normally would for a vacuum but I got a five year warranty, 5 years of free service, and guaranteed parts for twenty years. We wanted to pay more for higher quality because we have kids etc. This place has lots of brand at every price level and they service vacuums. Great experience, great store, excellent products.

Lauren LM: EDIT: Received a call from Adam; I clearly didn't hear the associate (Justin) correctly when he told me the price for replacing a belt on my vacuum. I heard $58, he actually said $15.80. Adam explained that most belt replacements are around that $15-$25 amount, which is what Justin had also told me this morning when I called. Adam also explained that AMEX is not good for small businesses - and would charge the store a very high rate on each transaction. My three star review earlier was based off of feeling like I was lured in with a reasonable estimate, then charged a high price - but now I realize I just need to get my hearing checked. Just as I said in my initial review the belt change was done in under a minute, but unlike earlier it was not as I thought ("expensive as hell!").

After wrapping up with another customer, Justin was able to not only fix my problem quickly and very reasonably, but also explained how I can fix it myself in the future. I had checked the belt, cleaned the filters, and troubleshot as much as I knew, but he showed me another filter I had never seen before. Grateful for the explanation and super fast service.

Wolfbite Beware: LAM's is THEE vac shop to use in Lansing, PERIOD. The Owner is very much in to his craft. He seriously knows his stuff. You do not get fluff, BS or a sales pitch at Lam's.. Marisa Lewis: Our shark vacuum lost suction. I called Lam's he told me to drop it off. When I stopped in he immediately told me it was clogged. Had it fixed and back to me in a couple hours. I highly recommend them. Reasonably priced, friendly and quick.

Janice Hewson: Lam's Sweeper Shop is a very reputable sweeper repair and sales shop. We took our almost 20 year old Dyson Animal Upright vacuum there too see if it could be repaired. The employee just we spoke with was very helpful. He said based on the age, not all parts are still available, but he believed the broken parts for ours were. He also said alhough it will take some labor time to do the repair, it may be money well spent. Customers with the newer Dyson's have said don't pickup animal hair nearly as well as the older model like ours and the newer versions don't last years like ours has. He said since we really liked how well our vacuum cleaned, if he can't get parts to repair, before spending hundreds on buying a brand new Dyson, to consider getting another older model that has been refurbished. I truly appreciated his knowledge and honesty. I also really like that Lam's will look at your sweeper, provide cost to repair, and they do not charge a fee for estimates!

Average Joe: We have a 24-year-old VacuFlo brand central vacuum system for our home. At the time, it was top-of-the-line and very expensive. It has two motors, one of them went out. These parts are readily available online, but I prefer to support small business locally if possible. I Several local vacuum repair shops and was almost ready to give up until I reached John at Centra-Vac. He had everything in stock that I needed. Fantastic price, fantastic service. Can’t say enough good things about his service. My vacuum should be good for another 20+ years! Very happy customer.

Wendie Karpinski: I called this evening to find out whether Home Depot carried Kentucky Blue Grass Seed with fine fescue. Brandon, Lawn and Garden Department, took my call. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the Scott’s brand that you carry.We discussed germination rates and the use of straw versus the grass mat to hold and protect the seed.I also inquired about the availability of some metal stakes to hold down a very large, heavy-duty tarp that I am using to cover up a section of our garden to keep weeds from growing. I am downsizing the garden and will be planting grass there eventually. Brandon was able to tell me what kind of stakes he had (plastic and metal) and where they were located.I thanked him for his courteous assistance and advice. I also asked to speak to his supervisor (Brendan) to express my appreciation for Brandon’s helpfulness, but he was not in at the time I called (9:00 p.m. ).
Daniel Dailey: We pretty much shop the Okemos store for most larger construction materials we can’t get at the local hardware. Had to build a platform for a garden shed. Met a veteran there who helped us a great deal. Got what we came for, cut to size, at the right price, basically with someone guiding us to each location. Got to thank him for his service as well. Joana Lampe: I rented a tiller for a garden project online. Since it's a small project, we rented it for the day of. We had friends ready to help shovel and rake the compost and everything was set up. I got a reminder email for my rental and everything. Once we got there, we were told that staff "had been worried about this rental" because all the tillers were still winterized and we shouldn't have been able to even place that order. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the poor high school or college kid was getting slammed without accessible supervisor support around lunch time, but he stayed polite and apologized profusely. Not his fault, but you'd think 1) that they'd update their website, and 2) once they notice there is a problem with a reservation made 4 days in advance, that they'd reach out. This way, I had to rent from AC&E in Lansing (which I should have done in the first place, they were amazing) and do the project without the help of friends. Very unfortunate. Not impressed, Home Depot.

They should have gave me something comparable or the next step up instead they argued with me and ended up just giving my money back so why did I spend extra for the replacement warranty? Than i had to go waste more of my time going to another store. Wasted half a day of time because their tool was junk and they wouldn't replace it.
