Antonio Ledbetter8: First time here. Customer service wasn't bad. But I would NOT recommend eating here. I lost appetite immediately. Chicken was not fresh, one piece was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. All peices were dry not edible in my opinion. Rather than get a refund I figured this instead. Go to Maty's nearby or my favorite spot KG's African & American grill in Garden City.
D D: Once tried to use the Groupon for there and the cashier looked at me like I was crazy. Told me to call the manager. Could never get thru to manager. Or come back at a certain time...why would I come back at that point. If a restaurant has offers make sure your staff knows..

Amy C: I drove all the way to this restaurant to get Authentic African meat pie. I got home, opened my order and found beef patties that they sell at K &F on 9 mile rd for $1. People come to the restaurant for authentic food. If you don’t want to make authentic meat pies then don’t sell those beef patties for $5. I called and spoke with the manager who said “ oh those are jamaican meat pies.” Why would you sell Jamaican meat pie as African meat pies? Who does that? What a terrible experience. I have those beef patties from K&F African market on 9 mile and coolidge in my freezer . I won’t be coming back. I do not recommend. It’s a rip off.

The grilled red snapper was not fresh. This was a great insult when the $26 order morphed into a $41 bill!!!!I think Maty's would do well to stick to just serving in house. The quality plummets with delivery. Sending out old food is criminal!

I've had most things on the menu and they are good and the food is consistent.Now my problem is with the call in orders. If you call in an order and they say 20mins, if you get there at the 30.ins mark, you still have to wait 10+ mins. I feel like they have not system with those. Its not great if you are in a rush, otherwise a great place and good food

We had the red snapper and it was sooooo flavourful along with the side items. I encourage anyone to give it a try. You will not be disappointed 😁

Samuel Tao: The food was delicious and authentic. I got the Chicken Yassa and for $15, the portion was huge, and it came with either Djoloff rice or a huge plate of salas. You know its a hole in wall place and the food is good since most of the other patrons were also African. The staff were also really helpful and even gave us free water bottles. Parking can be an issue during crowded times though.

Wow I told her they should cook 2 pot's non spicy & spicy I'm Jamaican when my food Not spicy it's distasteful I Won't be going back there. Plus they are price gouging $70. 00 for two egusi soup & fufu that taste like dog 🐕 food. Sad. They cooking like they cooking for animals now. When they first open they food use to be authentic now they cooking is horrible & making all that money only for me not to enjoy my meal I threw up so I throw it away. Plus it taste stale Not fresh. 😢 😢.

If I had a Jamaican grandma, I would imagine it would taste like this. Go here and experience it for yourself. I haven’t been to too many places where everything I ate tasted great, heathy, and real. Seychelle Ibrahim: Dominic made us feel so at home and gave us great recommendations. The oxtail, goat curry, plantains, cabbage, and jerk chicken rocked my socks. Oxtail was my fav fosho. And the guava sorrel 👌👌 they even tailored the music to our liking!! The sour sop juice was also amazing. Definitely recommend coming here if you’d like an authentic Caribbean cuisine experience.

Michelle Brown: Came here today for lunch while visiting from Toledo. This place is absolutely amazing. Boyfriend and I got the jerk chicken, oxtails, beef patties, plantains, and collard greens. The portions were very generous and flavor was fantastic. Also tried the Sour Sop juice- very interesting, but really good. Owner was very nice and personable. Definitely check this place out! We will come back next time we’re in town.
