It's Your Birth Midwifery Services, LLC - Jenny Zaner, LM, CPM: what do users think?
Ana E: I switched from my OB/GYN office to Jenny around the time I hit 3rd trimester, and it was the best decision I could have made for myself and my baby! The amount of personal attention and care Jenny gives is amazing, and I went from feeling overwhelmed and pressured by my previous care providers to calm and empowered with Jenny. She took the time to thoroughly discuss every question and concern I had, not just at the initial appointment but every single time I saw her. She always made time to give me her full attention and never rushed me. She took the time to thoroughly discuss the evidence and pros/cons of various tests and options, so that I could make truly informed decisions. I felt empowered to make the right decisions for myself and my baby without pressure. It's hard for me to really trust care providers, but Jenny is someone I can trust implicitly. At my labor she was calm, reassuring, and when I got to the point where I felt I had no clue what I was doing, her calm, reassuring guidance was exactly what I needed!
Carly Jakstys: My experience with Jenny throughout my whole pregnancy, delivery and postpartum was excellent. Jenny is compassionate, knowledgeable, and provides informed consent with each medical decision. I felt totally comfortable having a homebirth with her and would choose her services again in a heartbeat!
Chenelle Larsh: Jenny is amazing! I transferred to her care at 20 weeks and it was the best decision I made! Jenny showed me what true informed consent looks like. Even during the newborn exam she talked to my son about everything she was going to do prior to doing it. She is very knowledgeable and presents all the information in an unbiased way. My home birth experience was better than I ever could have imagined. It was a true family experience and Jenny gave me the space to birth in a way that felt instinctual. I felt very supported during pregnancy, labor & delivery, and postpartum. If I get pregnant again I will without a doubt have Jenny as my midwife!
Abby S: Jenny is the best of the best! This was my 4th baby, but 1st home birth and first time with Jenny and she was more thorough than any provider I’ve had in the past. She is extremely caring, knowledgeable and highly skilled in her field. She was so helpful at empowering my husband and I to make choices that best fit our family. I’m so thankful for her care. I had the best birthing experience and she and her team were phenomenal in how they supported and cared for my whole family. I cannot recommend Jenny enough!
Emily Candela: We loved Jenny! She made our first home birth a wonderful experience. We were always very confident in her knowledge and skills.
Lauren Marie: If I could give Jenny 10 stars I would. We met Jenny at a home birth and I said to myself, if I ever have a baby I need this woman on my team. A few months later we hired her and it was the best decision we made. She cares about your overall well being, your nutrition, you mental health and keeping you a top priority. She is extremely professional, however I felt as though I was speaking to a friend during our appointments. She never judged me when I asked ridiculous questions and the actual birth went as planned because of her expertise. My birth wasn’t seamless, there were definitely some obstacles and I never once felt at risk or afraid because I knew Jenny would do what’s best for me and the baby. I highly recommend Jenny as a midwife to anyone considering homebirth or birthing at a birthing center.
Karla Sanchez: I have so much gratitude for Jenny and the rest of my birth team. I am so happy I went with my gut in having Jenny as our midwife. I felt so understood, cared for, supported and validated. This is what I needed during pregnancy and especially labor. Jenny's confidence transmitted to us and her professionalism is astounding. Prior to Jenny, I had not met a provider in my life who actually understood the woman's body and who was up to date on research from quality foods during pregnancy, labs, protocols and much more. I looked forward to going to my prenatal visits every time. Our visits never felt rushed. They were never 15 minutes like in the medical model. It felt personalized and welcoming.Jenny's intuition was right every time she needed to rule out some things. For me, having a homebirth was really important though I understood that a transfer could happen. I had some symptoms that needed to be ruled out for concerns and Jenny encouraged me to have a hospital consult to be safe before I went into labor. Thankfully everything was fine and I just had to monitor in case there were any changes. Her call on having the consult was a great idea because I actually had to go to the hospital after I had my homebirth for a third degree tear that was non-emergent but out of her scope. Thanks to the prior consult, I felt confident in going back to the hospital and knew where to go. It was not stressful because they had my information on file and they did not make me wait long. Jenny took care of calling the hospital for a heads up and they were expecting me.Jenny was so calm and patient during my labor. She respected our wishes and the golden hour with baby. As a first time mom, I am so grateful beyond words could ever explain. I had a wonderful experience even when everything did not go as I would have wanted it but nothing ever does. It is important to come in with an open mind and know that maybe the birth pool will not even be touched. Labor is unpredictable but having Jenny and my births team support gave me the strength I needed as a woman. The environment felt empowering.I feel that I can go on and on. I want to lastly mention that our postpartum visits were also amazing and needed during an intense hard transition after having a baby. We had more postpartum visits than what the medical model normally does. Jenny gave us a lot of resources to support us during postpartum. Without a doubt, I would choose Jenny all over again if I were to have another baby.
Linsey Renee: Jenny is a wonderful midwife! She’s there for you through it all and knows what to do for you in labor to get you to where you need to be to deliver!! She’s an asset; caring, supportive and informative to give you power in knowing to make your own decisions throughout your pregnancy.. She’s truly a gem for expectant families and you truly couldn’t ask for a better midwife!!
Saskia Schreiber: We had the most amazing experience in January with Jenny and her awesome Team. We welcomed our fourth baby into our family. Jenny and her team are like family, helping you whenever you need it, leaving you alone whenever you want it and all that while letting you being in control about your birth. We never felt anxious about anything, it was just a smooth amazing time. Everything was well organized and everybody knew what they had to do, no hectic or loud voices. It was just the most amazing birth I had after three natural hospital birth. They changed our lives for the good and especially the life of our little girl. The bonding with her three siblings is deep and pure. If I ever get pregnant again I know who to call! Thank you for everything Jenny!
Brittany Shanahan: This was our first pregnancy and prior to getting pregnant my husband and I talked extensively about home birth- being in the comfort of our home with the people we love and building a team that cares for us. We were so blessed to find Jenny (thank you instagram). She was our safe place, she listened to all of our questions, let us make every decision, gave options and education material, informed consent, and when it came to the birth of our daughter, her and Paige were nothing short of amazing! Our sweet baby girl was born on her due date! I felt comfortable, confident and empowered. My husband and I were able to labor exactly how we wanted, Jenny and Paige gave us space to let my body work and when I needed a little help Jenny was there with suggestions for new positions or the peanut ball (taking me from 5cm to 10cm in 45 minutes).. when it came to pushing I wasn’t coached, I wasn’t told to wait, I wasn’t told “not yet”. Jenny supported me in every capacity again letting my body do the work. Just as it was designed by God to do. After Eisley was born we had our magical golden hour right in bed, Delayed cord clamping, Brendan had skin to skin while our bath was prepared and Eisley and I got to bond even further in the herbal bath. Jenny helped with breast feeding/latching and different positions. Our room was cleaned all while we were soaking up newborn snuggles in bed.We felt supported, loved, cheered for, encouraged and just so thankful that God put Jenny in our lives. We can’t thank her and her team enough and can’t wait for the next time we get to have Jenny as our midwife.
Kelly Christiansen: Jenny and the birthing team from It’s your Birth Midwifery are truly amazing! Jenny is a very knowledgeable and caring provider that helps guide you and your partner through the most exciting and nerve racking time in your life. She is there to answer any and all questions. She provides individualized care. She is unique compared to the medical model. You are not just a number to Jenny. She takes her time to ensure you are confident every time you leave a visit. She will answer any question you have between visits as well. She takes the most natural approach for growing and birthing a baby. She helps bring the back the idea of growing, birthing and raising a child in the traditional and natural way that our mind, bodies, and spirits were made to do. My family was very fearful of my home birth. During labor a team of professional women came to my home with all the necessary medical equipment to help deliver my beautiful, healthy baby. The birthing team takes ever step very seriously with proper sterilization techniques, detailed charting, and constant communication with each other and my partner and I. The team is prepared for emergencies as well. I had the utmost trust that Jenny and the team would take care of us if things did not go as planned. After my natural birth, my family was in awe of how beautiful and peaceful the birth of my child was. My mom, who was the most fearful, said, “it was amazing, it felt like this was how birth was meant to happen. A community of women working together to help bring a beautiful child into this world. It was truly magical!” I used to work in the medical field. I learned that a vaginal hospital birth’s starting cost is $30,000. Now some people’s insurance will cover most of that, but that price does not include prenatal and postnatal care. Jenny’s price includes all your prenatal, birth, and 6 postnatal care visits. Your insurance should cover any tests that need to be done. She will even help get your insurance to approve a breast pump. Every women who has had a hospital birth has told me that the earliest they see their provider after birth is 6 weeks. By 6 weeks postpartum, I had seen Jenny 6 times with my newborn getting checked on as well. I’ve also been told by many women that they felt pressured into many interventions that they did not want and most were pressured into inductions way before they needed to be induced. Jenny does not do that. She lets your body do what it is supposed to do and only intervenes if 100% necessary. She also ensures that every time she is going to do something she gets consent. She ensures you feel comfortable with every touch and test, rather than just doing it. Continual consent can be very crucial to those that have had some trauma in life. Jenny is with you every step of the way to ensure you feel safe, confident, and informed about your birth. I’m excited to have my next baby just so I can work with Jenny again. I truly felt like I had a friend in my corner fighting for me to have the birth that I wanted. I promise you will not be on the fence about a home birth after your first visit with Jenny!
courtney willenberg: I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jenny and the services she provides. From the moment you become her client you feel genuinely cared for, seen, heard, and safe and that’s simply, because you are. Your appointments are tailored to you, as is your prenatal care because pregnancy is not one size fits all and Jenny recognizes and respects this. There is no topic that is off limits and there is no such thing as a dumb question. The decisions you make while under Jenny’s care will be made in full confidence as informed consent is one of her top priorities. She offers a higher than top notch service and she truly is invaluable. Jenny is as professional as she is personable and truly makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. She becomes part of your family in a very short period of time and it is truly hard to say either, “see you next time!” or “goodbye” to her at the end of it. Should I have another child, there is no other way for me to birth other than at home with Jenny and her team.It was an amazing experience all the way around. You won’t be disappointed in your decision!
Becky: It's easy to see how passionate and devoted Jenny is to what she does. She gives you the information you need to make the decision that is right for you and your family, without trying to scare you into doing one thing or another. She is great with the babies, even asking their permission and telling them everything she's doing for them.Amy and Paige (the backup midwives) were so sweet, thoughtful and helpful. They all have such a comforting presence.Choosing the homebirth path with Its Your Birth was the best choice i could have made for my family. I don't think my birth would have gone as smoothly as it did without Jenny and her team supporting me. She knew exactly what to do at every stage. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Jenny is amazing and we are so grateful we chose to homebirth.
Emily Andary: Having Jenny as our midwife was the absolute best decision we made. From the first time we met her, she made my husband and I feel listened to and cared for. She answered any and all questions we had. Her knowledge, experience, resources, and professionalism allowed us to feel confident in making informed decisions for our birth/baby. During my labor, her calming and peaceful presence was amazing. Having her care for me and my son postpartum was so comforting also. There are only positive things to say about Jenny. My home birth experience was such a dream come true and I hope more women get to experience it. We can’t wait to work with Jenny again in the future!
Kelsey Krumrey: Over half way through my pregnancy I started to question my original birth plan to deliver in a hospital after my provider seemed less than receptive to questions I had. A quick Google search and the practice’s name, It’s Your Birth, resonated with what I felt was previously lacking in my care, my ability to have choice. After meeting with Jenny for a consult I realized just how much I had been missing! Her knowledge, calming presence, and her practice of true informed consent was everything I didn’t even know I could have.Prenatal appointments were just as much informative as supportive, never rushed. Birth unfolded as naturally as possible and even with an unexpected transfer postpartum I felt informed and in control. And for postpartum care, I truly cannot imagine not having the early in-home visits! As a first time mom it was incredibly reassuring to know I had an appointment with Jenny just around the corner through those first six weeks for all those little questions that Google just seems to add confusion to.I feel so lucky to have had the experience I did as a first time mom and Jenny was a huge part in that!
Brianna Wright: Jenny is an amazing midwife! The entire pregnancy I felt listened to, cared for, and like I really mattered. This kind of care is hard to find and not to be treated as a number. During my labor and delivery she was such a peaceful presence and did not rush any moments. The postpartum care is incomparable to a hospital birth, as I have had. I felt like royalty and was treated with so much love and respect. I would recommend Jenny to anyone! Giving birth at home is an amazing experience I pray many more moms would be able to experience.
Melissa McMacken: Jenny Zaner from It's Your Birth Midwifery Services, is just simply amazing. She was by far the best provider I've ever had. Jenny actually cares about you and your baby and goes above and beyond for you both. During the homebirth of my baby girl Jenny and her team were amazing! I had the homebirth of my dreams and felt so supported throughout my entire pregnancy and birth. I am forever grateful to have had this experience and will definitely use Jenny's services again if/when I have another child. ❤
Brittany Cali: From the moment we met Jenny we knew she was the Midwife for us. She is professional, organized, full of knowledge, and just a great person to talk to. When you hire Jenny as your Midwife you will never feel rushed through your appointments. You will leave feeling informed, confident, and heard. She provides you with up-to-date evidence-based information to help you make informed decisions every step of the way. It is something incredibly special to have a care provider who genuinely cares about not just your physical health but your mental health as well. I highly recommend Jenny and will be forever grateful to have had her as my midwife.
Nile Tigress: From our first conversation, Jenny was amazing. She made me feel young and informed. She was super helpful and encouraging. I have never felt so empowered until I met her. She made my first home water birth with baby #4 an amazing experience. We love you Jenny Zaner!!! Always!!!!💕😘
francesca saracino: If you haven't chosen Jenny as your midwife already you need to -- NOW! Before I even got pregnant I was always very in to the idea of a home birth. Throw in a pandemic and it was a no brainer. As soon as we found out we were pregnant I was in talks with a different midwife (not Jenny) I had met about doing a home birth. Shortly after talking with her we had to change our direction. And I was left, at almost 15 weeks pregnant, without yet even hearing a heart beat. I was referred to It's Your Birth Midwifery and had an in person meeting with Jenny. Her attitude was so refreshing -- especially given the state of the world at the time. She was kind, informative and really listened to our wants for our birth. I immediately called my husband and told him THIS is our midwife. Fun fact: Jenny trained under the midwife that delivered my husband almost 34 years ago! All of my appointments with Jenny were in office, which was great! It allowed me to focus on me and my baby. Every time I met with her she would provide me resources and additional information on topics to help make the best decision for our family. Informed consent is a HUGE thing of mine and Jenny is the best at giving you all of the tools necessary to make your decision and offers an unbiased opinion. She was always there when I needed her even for a silly little first time mom worry. Flash forward to "labor day" and Jenny and her team helped make our home birth dreams come true! She knew what we wanted and did everything in her power to make it happen. It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. But with the love and support of Jenny and her team (doula's Paige and Kelly and midwife assist Heather) I knew I was ready to do it all over again, and I will! Jenny is an incredible person and if you value informed consent, medical freedom, love and support I HIGLY recommend It's Your Birth Midwifery!
Chelsea Ahearn: From our first meeting with Jenny, we were truly impressed with her knowledge and comforting personality. I have never had a medical professional that was so passionate and knowledgeable about pregnancy/birth. My appointments were all about an hour long with detailed discussion about what was going on and future decisions that had to be made. She made sure we were informed and comfortable with all of our choices from testing to our birth plan. (As someone with some health anxiety I was amazed at how at peace I was with everything.) When it came time for birth she was the perfect amount of supportive but gave my husband and I space to let the birth unfold. I will forever be grateful that she helped bring our little man earth side in our home exactly the way I had always envisioned. If another baby is in our plans, she will be one of the first people we contact!

Michigan Perinatal Associates: what do users think?
Justyn S: My wife has been with this ob for as long as I've known her. They (Dr. Garmel) delivered all 3 of our babies and everytime has been wonderful. Garmel and her team are truly great people. We've never really dealt with Dr. Moses so I can't comment on him.
Nicole Hoffman: Horrible place to go to. Weird comments being made. Doing transvaginal ultrasounds with doors open. Feels rushed. Makes you feel like you have no brain. Need medical release forms sent over, not returning my calls or the new doctors calls or faxes. Ridiculous. Worst place I've ever been too. Very uncomfortable here. Also forgot to mention no due date at all. Tells me everything's perfect first visit, second visit tells me they were worried. Then trying to go against my ENDOS wishes for my insulin. They deal with high risk. Just flat out rude. Never again!!!!! Worst place to go to. I wouldn't send a fly there.
Ali Asad: Amazing people amazing
sara: Wound up switching clinics in my 7th month. I work a very physically intense job, experiencing severe back and foot pain. Every time I tried to get the pain addressed as far as what I could do or restrictions at work. I was told we won’t write you out of work, and compared to other pregnant patients. I never once asked to be taken off of work. When they finally said they would write me a doctor note, I never received it and asked for another, I was given an attitude. Told that they would have to charge me for paperwork because it was time consuming. Anytime I asked for any of my issues to be addressed, or questions regarding the birth I was given attitude, and told that they do address the questions I have tell later in the pregnancy. At 6 1/2 months, with my first pregnancy, I feel like questions are to be expected. Issues of pain should be addressed, when it is preventing you from being able to complete a day at work, and effecting you to the point where you have no quality of life after work.
Teela Rayner: I had A great experience. Brenda was absolutely amazing! She made me feel so comfortable and relaxed during such a special time in this pregnancy. Will highly recommend.
Cara Klish: We originally went here to get genetic testing done for our baby. The genetics doctor was very thorough. He took his time explaining everything and the same day we had an ultrasound. He genuinely seemed like he cared. The whole staff here is very kind which is why we kept going back for every ultrasound for the rest of my pregnancy. Brenda did our last ultrasound and she was so sweet! I never do reviews but this place deserves 5 stars!
Jayme Lynn: Brenda WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I am so pleased with how everything went. She was a pleasure to meet. Made me feel so comfortable , she was so down to earth. If I could come here for every ultrasound I WOULD. Definitely recommend ❤️
Rebecca Ferreira: Reading some of these reviews, I'm a bit surprised by because my experience was amazing! I thought the wait was going to be awhile because when I got there, there were about 4 or 5 people ahead of me but they actually were getting people in and out. I would say I only waited about 10-15 mind past my appt time before they called me back. The lady I had was amazing! She is also pregnant and she was super friendly! We had a great conversation while she did my ultrasound and I wasn't there for super long either. I would definitely recommend this place. Everyone was really nice & polite.
Nooh Alsh: The worst staff ever they dont even care about no one i don’t recommend this place
Olivia Scott: I really feel my baby wouldn't have had such a rough birth if I had the proper care. Wish I would have gotten a second opinion like my gut told me to do.. this place is a joke. Although I will say the receptionists are super nice girls.
Nichole Home: I read some of the reviews here and I completely disagree. My experiences with Dr. Garmel and Dr. Moses have been phenomenal and I feel so fortunate to have had them as my doctors. Going to a high risk OB is stressful and a lot of times there is news you may not want to hear, but Garmel and Moses have the health of you and your baby as their first and foremost priority. They DO have compassion and understanding but again, the health of you and your baby takes precedence. They delivered 2 of my children and there were a couple of times that a reality check was necessary (again for my health and the health of my baby). My children are healthy as am I and I am so grateful to them for that. Every single person in their office made me feel special, and when our time came to an end I would mourn the loss of my weekly visits :(. If you want doctors who are competent, capable, and are invested in their patients this is the right place for you
Stacy R: Dr Moses rude and unprofessional along with some front desk staff wouldn’t recommend this place or this C-section pushing doctor
Surah Alwageeh: Had a ultrasound done with Kim who knew exactly what she was doing, was in and out very quick. Friendly staff, but you must stick to your scheduled time since it's so busy or you will have to reschedule.
Samantha SuSu: Now this my second review ever doing in my life for anything. I don’t know what any of the other reviews are talking about sorry that you feel that way but today was my first time there and I didn’t experience any of this. I won’t lie reading the reviews made me hesitant to go but I’m glad I did. The staff was very friendly and fast. They took well care of me and made me feel comfortable. They also answered any questions I would ask. Also there were people there who specifically asked for certain staff to take care of them because they do so well. So I for one would recommend going here don’t let a few negative reviews scare you unless you experience it yourself. Thank you to the staff of Michigan Perinatal and keep up the good work!😊
Zina: Well every time I go to this place , I end up with a stressful day. First time I saw doctor Moses and he was so hard on me. He made me feel like I am going to die and everything is wrong with me because I have gestational diabetes. He ordered me to go under insulin before he asked me to write down my daily sugar data to check if I need insulin or only diet. I didn’t take the insulin and waited to see if the diet will work with me. So I wrote down my results for several days my blood sugar was almost normal and two hours after I eat it ranged from (120-125) and in the morning was ranging from (85-95) and my OB doctor said it is normal since it is under 100 for fasting and 130 for 2 hours after meals . But this office kept asking me to take insulin which I didn’t want it at first. Then The nurse who is a specialist in blood sugar told me that I am wasting their time because of that and I will end up with c-section because the baby will be big. Ok I know all of these stuff because I have dealt with it with my three previous pregnancies and I had high blood sugar and I had three c-section not because of the baby was big, because of narrow pelvic and didn’t allow me to have a natural delivery. Just please stop telling me this every time and stressed me out because I am not wasting anyone time and you get paid for your service also check my medical record before you tell me that I will end up with c- section so I don’t have to tell you this every time. Also I have three kids that need me because I don’t have anyone to take care of them and taking insulin will make me tired and sleepy and needs time to make my body ok with while I have only 4 weeks to have my c-section.
sadiyah alam: WORST OF THE WORST EXPERIENCEMy baby’s gender was female and instead they wrote male! When I asked about it, they said they had changed it on their computer after I corrected them…like what??!!!YOU people are supposed to tell ME my baby’s gender and it shouldn’t be the other way around. And the one who performed the ultrasound was taking so much time and pressing the machine on me so much that it hurt the entire day. After I had paid my dues, they sent me a statement via mail and in that my spelling was wrong, so I asked the statement to be sent again. When I received it, my name was not printed on the envelope, but handwritten in a very bad way and my spelling was corrected with a freaking WHITENER!!!!I even talked to the supervisor and she had such a casual attitude towards all this, didn’t even apologize and was very unprofessional. Also, their answering machine has a voice which can’t be understood at all. She mumbles to herself the options which we are supposed to select, thereby, confusing us just as they are about their jobs:/
Romee Madanwal: Worst than the worst place i have ever been to . Their staff couldn’t schedule me according to the order and later on they said sorry and rescheduled me. The next day I went again the doctor was not available, they again said sorry and wanted to reschedule, seems like we are free AF as they are . They really don’t care what the patient is going through.
