ebony norwood: The place in itself was pretty cool, but my friend and I could not enjoy ourselves due to the rudeness and cruel energy from an employee named Frank. If he was taken out the equation we might have been able to actually have a good time. He was very rude and mean and mocked me for not knowing much rules or what “tweet” meant even though I made it clear it was my first time going there. Also it was very dangerous due to no clear instructions on what the “rules” and meanings. One child even started earlier while people were still getting their arrow because of the lack of instructions given. He used harsh and sarcastic tones and it made me very uncomfortable. Because of the bad energy Frank was giving off we decided to leave earlier than our scheduled time, I would have loved to come back there in the future and introduce other friends as well if circumstances was different.

Edward Heffenfelder: Decent place for what it is. Do not plan to take your hunting bow or crossbow. They do not alow anything over 51lbs. But a nice time none the less

Rajesh Jude: Really fun place to come to. It's not at all expensive for the time you get to shoot arrows. The people working there are really helpful and they thought us pretty well on how to shoot an arrow properly.

Shane Empson: Coach Brandon put on an incredible outdoor archery tournament last weekend. The inaugural Competitive Archery Showdown was superb. The event was well planned and the competition was fierce. Can’t wait for this unique tournament to come back next year!!

Lisa (The Sterling Critic): A great place to take archery lessons. Affordable and can get up to 16 students in one class. I believe they also have private lessons. You can purchase archery supplies this location. The instructor makes it fun to learn how to be an archer. Conveniently located in Troy near many restaurants and other shops. The parking lot is a little small and around the back of the building but seems like plenty of parking for the class sizes that they have available. As you get better at your lessons they have a yearly competition and display the awards nicely when you first walk in. It is upstairs in the building and they conveniently have an elevator for people that can’t take the stairs.

Jim Shields: Brandon really helped my grandson improve a lot last year. He ended up finishing second place in his division and was promoted to shooting 15 yards. He picked up his new bow tonight and was shooting great without any real adjustments made to the sights. He previously was shooting at 10 yards. Now his younger brother will be shooting this year as well and we will be getting lessons from Brandon for him as well.

Randy Carroll: This place goes above and beyond for you. I highly recommend to anyone looking to get into or just trying out Archery.

Lisa Tremblay: Updated to say that the issue of refund has been resolved. A name note this is the same experience as posted on Yelp.I still will not encourage patrons to this business for the owners refusal to understand the flaws in the system he claims they have set up with appointments or claiming that the range is not open to public at certain times without it being posted at all on the doors. Since we were not the only “public” that entered the building at the time of issue. There has to be change in the disappointing ego of this owner to make it a better environment.He is insistent that appointments have to be made however he himself failed over months of opportunity via email, to explain the system he claims is in place. It’s evident in my email on March 11th that I mentioned the coach was unavailable to devote to my project of picking up the items the owner told me to come in to pick up via phone. The owner did not respond to this email- he did not explain at any point that appointments are supposedly needed to pick up and to order items. It was never the case. The coach was perfectly available to run my card.To ruin an entire experience over non communication is irresponsible to current and potential clientele and to his staff.I’m disappointed that this owner chooses to ruin a wonderful sport by poor business choices, terrible communication, an over inflated ego and lack of customer service.

Real life experience here: I went in for some range time and the counter person asked me what I was shooting , I said “ a 1911 and a beretta 92 “ and the sob had the gall to say “ well nobody’s perfect”. I smiled and said “right” and walked out haven’t been back and never will be. (Of course he was carrying a Glock) surprise!

Nasem Ballo: I read some of the negative reviews and I had to input my viewI've been coming here for about 15 years. I am not a regular but I try to do about 10-15 shooting sessions per year. So its safe to say I come here A LOT.Overall, I like the place. I am not here to socialize, so the staff's social habits and/or customer service is not of significant importance to me. They've answered any question I've ever asked, straight to the point.Their gun range is well secured and ventilated w/ monitors and I personally like that they are uptight about their rules. I would hate to be shooting in a booth next to a couple of careless kids rapid firing and pointing their firearms in every direction. If they were a careless gun range with minimal rules, they would lose me a customer.If you follow their rules, you will have no issues (READ THE RULES AS THEY ARE TAPED IN EVERY BOOTH). If you are careless with the way you handle a firearm, they will give you lip about it and probably kick you out. And to be honest, thats a good thing, this is a dangerous recreational hobby and rules must be followed to ensure the safety of everyone else.

Bre Bre: Today was my first time coming here. I took my CPL class online and decided to visit this location for the range portion. Every worker here was extremely nice and patient. All of my questions were answered and I was showed in detail how to handle a gun for the first time. I will be purchasing from this location and starting today this will be my only range I attend lol. I felt very welcomed and my instructor felt that I was nervous and made me feel 100 percent comfortable. I highly recommend this place for newbies like myself!!

The real fight: I brought my very first firearm from the store.It was a Taurus PT 24/7 CDS.And right after I payed for my firearm. The store clerk shook my hand and said "hey brother, welcome to the armed community ‼️& I felt so welcome in their store.Just in case you're wondering, yes I am a Black man & NO‼️ I did not get no racist vibes from these guys. They're always friendly and eager to answer a question. This is a first class mom and pop store.

Ed G: Wessel Gun Shop is a fantastic store. I have been going to them for the last 3 or 4 years to handle my firearm transfers as from my experience their transfer charge is very reasonable. Today was the first time I purchased a gun directly from them and I am beyond happy and satisfied. Steve and Ken were an absolute pleasure to deal with. The shotgun I bought was an incredible deal and less than half the price of most that I found online. Their prices on new guns are also pretty reasonable considering the demand and lack of availability of many guns and ammo right now. I noticed that some reviewers complain of a lack of customer service, this is a small shop with few employees, just be patient and they will get to you when they can. It is not a good idea in my opinion to be in a rush when shopping for a new firearm. Wessel Gun Shop has always been good to me and I will continue to give them my buisness whenever I can!

Tyler McGonnell: This place is a bit old fashioned, the guys behind the counter are knowledgeable and they will give you advice, as long as you are going to purchase something. They come off rude, and sometimes can be a bit short, but that is just how they are. The last 3 times I went in they were short with me, but very to the point. Once they started realizing I was coming in more often, the lightened up a bit. They don't like their time being wasted just like the next guy, and tend to voice that out VERY clearly.They tend to be very stand offish when it comes to dealing with certain kinds of people however, if you present yourself as inexperienced or from an area that gives you a either trailer park or hood vibe, they will give you funny looks. that is the main reason I give this place such a low score, I really wished they weren't so rough to anyone other than guys.

Nikki Flanigan: I don't usually give reviews but I feel I need to do so this time. I know people who have gone here to shoot and were able to draw from their holster. Today I went there to practice drawing from my holster with my husband and was told they don't allow it and never have allowed it, which is untrue because he has done so with an instructor friend and they didn't say anything to them. I felt like they said no because I'm a woman. I was wearing my holster and he made a comment specifically about the type I was wearing as if he hadn't seen mine, talking about shooting myself in the foot. They seemed a little rude too. More like a place to go if you are "one of the boys" and not just people looking for a place to practice. It's a shame because I plan on spending a lot of time practicing but it won't be here.

Firstline Firearms Academy: In 2019, I did an In Home CPL Class for a lady at the request of her husband who happens to be a friend of a friend who referred me. The husband wanted to go to Peter's for the range qualification. I had heard of Peter's but had never been. We met up there and the husband paid for the range time and bought ammunition. Originally the wife was going to use one of the husband's guns but it was malfunctioning. So I let her use mine. She shot well and listened to instructions perfectly. The husband watched from outside the glass. None of the staff said any to me about being an instructor or about open carry. We left the range and the husband even tipped me an extra $20 on top of the $100 CPL Class.The following year in 2020, I and another student went to Peter's and we were immediately told no open carry and no outside instructors. I asked since when and was told that was always the policy. The guy behind the counter with the glasses didn't remember me from the previous year when I came in with the white man and his black wife. But now that it's just me and another black man, we were denied the use of their range. I'm all for private property rights but not when they're rooted in racist biases. I don't support racists or disingenuous gun owners who don't support ALL gun rights including open carry.
