Nasem Ballo: I read some of the negative reviews and I had to input my viewI've been coming here for about 15 years. I am not a regular but I try to do about 10-15 shooting sessions per year. So its safe to say I come here A LOT.Overall, I like the place. I am not here to socialize, so the staff's social habits and/or customer service is not of significant importance to me. They've answered any question I've ever asked, straight to the point.Their gun range is well secured and ventilated w/ monitors and I personally like that they are uptight about their rules. I would hate to be shooting in a booth next to a couple of careless kids rapid firing and pointing their firearms in every direction. If they were a careless gun range with minimal rules, they would lose me a customer.If you follow their rules, you will have no issues (READ THE RULES AS THEY ARE TAPED IN EVERY BOOTH). If you are careless with the way you handle a firearm, they will give you lip about it and probably kick you out. And to be honest, thats a good thing, this is a dangerous recreational hobby and rules must be followed to ensure the safety of everyone else.

The real fight: I brought my very first firearm from the store.It was a Taurus PT 24/7 CDS.And right after I payed for my firearm. The store clerk shook my hand and said "hey brother, welcome to the armed community ‼️& I felt so welcome in their store.Just in case you're wondering, yes I am a Black man & NO‼️ I did not get no racist vibes from these guys. They're always friendly and eager to answer a question. This is a first class mom and pop store.

I Went there to get my deer rifle bore sighted because I couldnt move my adjustment anymore to the left and all my shots were dead on to the right, but outside of the bullseye ….. cough cough thanks Cabelas!!!I left it with this Old Timer gunsmith who assured me he would take care of it. Couple hours later he called me back and said come pick up your rifle.Took it to the range…… first shot dead smack in the bullseye!!!Thumbs up to ya Old School…… I’ll be getting my rifles bore sighted in by you from this point forward!!!👍👍👍👍👍

Ed G: Wessel Gun Shop is a fantastic store. I have been going to them for the last 3 or 4 years to handle my firearm transfers as from my experience their transfer charge is very reasonable. Today was the first time I purchased a gun directly from them and I am beyond happy and satisfied. Steve and Ken were an absolute pleasure to deal with. The shotgun I bought was an incredible deal and less than half the price of most that I found online. Their prices on new guns are also pretty reasonable considering the demand and lack of availability of many guns and ammo right now. I noticed that some reviewers complain of a lack of customer service, this is a small shop with few employees, just be patient and they will get to you when they can. It is not a good idea in my opinion to be in a rush when shopping for a new firearm. Wessel Gun Shop has always been good to me and I will continue to give them my buisness whenever I can!

Tyler McGonnell: This place is a bit old fashioned, the guys behind the counter are knowledgeable and they will give you advice, as long as you are going to purchase something. They come off rude, and sometimes can be a bit short, but that is just how they are. The last 3 times I went in they were short with me, but very to the point. Once they started realizing I was coming in more often, the lightened up a bit. They don't like their time being wasted just like the next guy, and tend to voice that out VERY clearly.They tend to be very stand offish when it comes to dealing with certain kinds of people however, if you present yourself as inexperienced or from an area that gives you a either trailer park or hood vibe, they will give you funny looks. that is the main reason I give this place such a low score, I really wished they weren't so rough to anyone other than guys.

Nikki Flanigan: I don't usually give reviews but I feel I need to do so this time. I know people who have gone here to shoot and were able to draw from their holster. Today I went there to practice drawing from my holster with my husband and was told they don't allow it and never have allowed it, which is untrue because he has done so with an instructor friend and they didn't say anything to them. I felt like they said no because I'm a woman. I was wearing my holster and he made a comment specifically about the type I was wearing as if he hadn't seen mine, talking about shooting myself in the foot. They seemed a little rude too. More like a place to go if you are "one of the boys" and not just people looking for a place to practice. It's a shame because I plan on spending a lot of time practicing but it won't be here.

Firstline Firearms Academy: In 2019, I did an In Home CPL Class for a lady at the request of her husband who happens to be a friend of a friend who referred me. The husband wanted to go to Peter's for the range qualification. I had heard of Peter's but had never been. We met up there and the husband paid for the range time and bought ammunition. Originally the wife was going to use one of the husband's guns but it was malfunctioning. So I let her use mine. She shot well and listened to instructions perfectly. The husband watched from outside the glass. None of the staff said any to me about being an instructor or about open carry. We left the range and the husband even tipped me an extra $20 on top of the $100 CPL Class.The following year in 2020, I and another student went to Peter's and we were immediately told no open carry and no outside instructors. I asked since when and was told that was always the policy. The guy behind the counter with the glasses didn't remember me from the previous year when I came in with the white man and his black wife. But now that it's just me and another black man, we were denied the use of their range. I'm all for private property rights but not when they're rooted in racist biases. I don't support racists or disingenuous gun owners who don't support ALL gun rights including open carry.

Dan Novotny: I have been around and used guns, since a very young age. I took my CPL class a few years ago at Accurate Firearms in Clarkston Michigan. This year I decided to take some additional classes and was referred to Ultimate Protection Academy by one of the salesman at Williams Gun Site. I signed up with UPA for a series of four classes. I have completed the holster one & two classes. I was amazed at the differences between Accurate Firearms & UPA. To be honest it was a reality check. A half hour in to the first class I realized that I had taken the responsibility of concealed carry for granted. The instruction was highly focused with attention to detail, safety, understanding your equipment, handling and shooting of your firearm, etc. most importantly, they teach you how to survive if God forbid you are put in a situation where you have to defend life with your firearm. I highly recommend Ultimate Protection Academy for CPL, or any of the other classes they offer.

Joe Taminski: Just took thier basic handgun class with Roel. He was amazing and taught everything a new gun owner should know before purchasing a firearm. I took advantage of thier 4 class package deal and they are going to walk me through the process of selecting not only what caliber but also make of gun. Highly reccomend coming here if you are new to shooting. This was my first time getting instruction and they significantly improved my accuracy.

louise slang: I signed up the class on March 11th, The place and all their staff and trainers are so nice and friendly. Mary was super patient while on the phone with me, explained everything in a very detail fashion. Our class consisted a very diversified group, ages from 20s' to 60s'; from Indian, Chinese nationalities, African American to Caucasion.Trainer Roel provided above and beyond, step by step instructions to us. It was truly a knowledge and fun combined session for us beginners. I recommand take this basic fire arms & shooting class, it"s money well spent and worth it.- Louise

Jimmy Buckets: Don’t waste your time. Literally you will waste your day for a CPL class. A lot of waiting around and a lot listening to political rants. $37 for 30 rounds of ammo as well. If you sign up plan on being here for 10 hours. This was a one and done for me.

Ambience Corruption: Good lesson and teaching from Angela. The hostess and mascot were very professional and kind, as well.

The instructor has helped me refine my shooting style and corrected things I was doing wrong. I highly recommend taking classes at UPA. If you don't currently own a firearm but you are thinking off getting one, then you definitely should take classes at UPA. They have a variety of firearms that you can borrow to take the classes. This way you can get a better idea of what type of firearm best suits you.

Sonja Harris: It was my second time on a gun range, 1st I took their basic hang gun class and then their CCW/CPL class. Taking the basic hand gun class first was very important because it taught me the safe handling of a handgun and the proper steps to take before ever shooting a weapon. I was also pleased with their trainers because of their patient. They took the time to make sure I understood and was able to perform the tasks of shooting a handgun safely.
