Clinton River Canoe & Kayak Rentals: what do users think?
Kaitlin Grzybowski: The people who own the kayak rental are awful. They are super rude and will yell at you. I hate dealing with them. And why is it $50 to rent a kayak?? Such a rip-off.
Kelsey Symington: My friend called the owner because her ID was left here after our kayak trip and the owner screamed at me while trying to figure out a way for me to get it back and hung up on me and is holding ID hostage.
Snow Kitten: Was a good experience. Kayaks were in decent condition, paddles good and everything ran on time. I would prob bring my own life jacket next time though. The river was luckily a lil higher when we went too making a good trip for my husband and I.
Matthew Venturini: Had a great time and would love to do this more. Clinton river isn't the cleanest river, but the river is a very windy and technical. It took us 3 hours to get back even though they said it was a 2 hour kayak ride.
Angel Mayer: I love kayaking this stretch of the Clinton River. CRCK, are a great bunch of people. Been 3 times this year!
Chris Prieto: Is there six stars, they were all about business yet smiles and fun. Good time was had by all, even know I took a dip, lol, safe for young Miguel, better after a rain, river not so low. Again still had fun.
Jenna Kowalski: Fun river trip! The staff is fantastic too!
Eric Walters: How didn’t I know about this company and their service? Well I’m glad I finally found out about it. We had a great time on their three hour trip down the river! It was very relaxing and worth doing it! Sure beats driving four hours Up North for a similar experience.
Heather B: They do not offer any services if you have your own kayak. Last year, I was charged $10 each for a ride. Terrible. Lazy staff.
Joe M: This place is a joke
Chasen Griffith: It took us 5 and a half hours doing this but it was fun doing it.
Natalie: Perfect day, great weather, serene, smaller groups than other rivers I've been on which was nice. Bare minimum maintenance done on down trees or trash/metal in river unfortunately but most of it was easy to navigate. It was the perfect length trip for ppl not looking to be on the river all day. Lovely old growth tree canopy throughout ❤️
fluffers17: Fun time!! Love this place ❤️
Tawnee martins: These people are SO rude. Please don’t ever rent from them. They are white trash literally. They were very rude to my friends. They have their land on a public launch and are mad if other people use it. Please chose anywhere else than here I wouldn’t even give them a star if I didn’t have to
David McDonnell: Awesome kayaking. 3 hour ride takes at LEAST 3 hours. Took us almost 4, so much good time
Patrick Mac: Very rude people who own this place never never will I ever spend money with the rude owners of Clinton river kayak they have Anger issues.
Jarred Lemanski: Friendly and informative staff. It was a great trip down the river. It was a little difficult for my wife, since it was her first time kayaking, but she enjoyed it.
Christian Wodtke: Terrible customer service. Rude workers that don’t care about their customers. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
Judith Ballard: Great place!!!
Julie Ruggirello: Drifting on a river enjoying being "unplugged" AND the staff take care of the rest! Love it
Kimberlee Bora: Fun times! Friendly people.

Simple Adventures Kayak Rental & Delivery: what do users think?
Marissa Ciavone: My son & I decided to go kayaking & booked our visit with Simple Adventures at Belle Isle in the same day. It was our first time & we had a great experience. The man working gave us a quick overview of the route & best practices for paddling. The trailer was easy enough to find (graphics on the trailer would really help it stand out, but we still found very easily) & the man helped us into the water. The water was a little icky but that’s just Belle Isle. The man working was there to greet us when we got back & was overall friendly. We would definitely rent through Simple Adventures again.
Yahya Nasersharifi: Overall good experience, I had a hard time finding the place but it was okay. Price was reasonable.
Daniel Martinez Martinez: I did some reservations for the day, showed up and no one to be seen. Time wasted that I cannot get back. I came all the way from Wisconsin just for this.
Anthony Lake: This place in my book is A FREAKING 1 i had a trip planned it was cancelled due to highvwater no biggie they offered me rwfund or rescedule i chose to rescedule thennn i missed the trip due to family emergency they were not required to refund or rescedule anything for me being that i didnt even call. They reached out to me said they noticed i wasnt there i explained whatt had happened so they again offered refund or reschedule !! So i forgot to call amd last night i called they informed me they refunded the money which woulda been ok but i closed my accounts due to fraud and their solution was come on down we have openings today not only were my 2 reservations covered but they added a 3rd for FREE!!! THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE OS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!! they will forever get my business i only wish i woulda tipped the girls working before i left thank you thanks you we will see yall again soon cant wait tobdo budd park float
Ladonna Cuevas: Everyone was friendly and super helpful. They are awesome!! Pricing us great as well.
Ashlee Sowinski: The two younger women who work at the beach hut at metro beach were insanely rude. Me and my bf wanted to rent kayaks. We paid for them and waited patiently for them. I rented from metro before And they use to bring the kayaks down directly to the beach. After a few minutes of waiting, I asked where to meet them at. The first girl said, with an attitude said, “at the boat launch”. I needed more directions not knowing where it was. The other girl chimed and also repeated, at the boat launch. The girls kept saying things like “over there” and “by the exit” but was very short with us and unhelpful. We eventually figured it out on our own. The staff at the boat launch was kind and nice. But you actually have to drive to entire different area of the park. The beach girls seemed more interested in playing on their phones than helping out paying customers.
Nevirose DeB: We called for stand up paddleboard instruction on Sunday, and was able to get in that same day. I was really surprised because it was Memorial Day weekend, but Jeremy was able to accommodate. He read our needs perfectly and balanced the instruction and freedom necessary for all of my kids, aged 7-17. Thanks, we had a perfect afternoon!
AMP BEACH VOLLEYBALL: I just rented bikes with my friend at Metro from this company. They had a tandem bike. We took a small lap with it to see if we wanted to rent. It was fun, but maybe I'll be more adventurous another day! We just rented our own bikes and rode along the board walk and around the point. It was a bit tricky finding where to go.. the second exit on the round about is to the beach shop, where the bikes are stationed... right when you pull into the park past the gate there is a quick left to go to the North/Main boat launch. The kayaks and boards are there. If you are looking for something to do with friends, go to a sunset paddle. It is beautiful in the marsh.Thank you to Grace and Mikayla! Such friendly staff members.
Andrea Mudd: Loved it. The directions were tricky and I had to call to find out where they are, but everyone was extremely helpful. When I got there Scott was super nice !! I will be going back quite often ! Thanks Guys !

Simple Adventures - Kayaking and Paddleboarding: what do users think?
Amy Martens: well, the kayak itself was good and the employees were nice but my word of advice is either head back super early or stay out the extra time if you know you'll be late. I got stuck in some lily pads and only half of my group made it back in time but we all got charged an extra hour. should've told my friends to dock up without me.they've raised their prices this year from $12/hr last year to $20/hr. I love the area but next time if I'm gonna be 25+ mins late then I'm just gonna stay out the other 40... and prolly stay out of the lily pads next time too lol
Gladiator IHM: I wanted to give 0 star but I can't unfortunately. They charge $20/hr which is a complete rip off plus the boats are old and worn out.
Mayur Patel: The staff with Simple Adventures is very helpful and was quick to take us in and get us kayaks, paddles and life jackets. You have to sign a waiver, which you can do in a few minutes before kayaking. They do not provide much instruction but it is not too difficult to figure out especially if you have people who have kayaked before. The prices are fair, about $20 per person per hour. We did not reserve ahead of time and were able to rent 4 double kayaks. Beware that the kayaks and paddle boards launch from the northern launch port, and you can also pay here too. From the launch point it is relatively far to get into the lake, and takes up essentially 30 min to get to the lake and 30 min to get back.
Breanna Golden (Mika_misaki_): My sister and nephews tried to rent a boat and were denied because they said it was too late (understandable) but then a white gentleman comes up right after and they rented him a boat this is not ok very unprofessional and discriminatory the park didn’t even wanna deal with the issue but we will make sure that this issue is addressed!!!
Andrea Girrell: Great Time. Employee was helpful and process was easy! Thanks for a great time!
T Kizewski: This service rents kayaks paddleboards in canoes at metro Beach. You have to go to the north Marina boat launch to find them. This is an old woman owned businessand the ladies who own this are super friendly and courteous. I highly recommend using the service whenever you go to metro. This is the same company that in 2021 operated the food bar at the terrace along the beach at Metro. They had lots of good healthy food choices and offered some things that are a little bit different from most of your typical Beach concession fare.
Jennifer Jenkinson: We took the kids and the dogs kayaking here and it was great. Very easy and girls were helpful
Sharmistha Datta: Good location. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.
Ashley Kay: The two younger women who work at the beach hut at metro beach were insanely rude.
Saundra Yaklin: Love the ladies who run this. They gave me a paddle board lesson and were very patien .
Deanne Yaklin: Very kind and dedicated staff - we appreciate they could keep us all safe and happy for outdoor fun at this time!!
Sharla Buza: Great experience, hard working, knowledgeable and helpful employees from the check out to check in process with biking and kayaking. I’d highly recommend Simple Adventures for some summer fun!
Eric Yaklin: Super friendly and helpful folks working the shop. I always enjoy stopping in and renting gear.
NOVA Volleyball Admin: Family outing on a beautiful day. The river wasn’t open yet due to COVID restrictions, but Lake St Clair Metro park location back into the Black Creek Marsh is open for rentals!Go support this small business finding their way in this challenging working climate. We love how easy it is to pop in, get all equipment and just go paddle. No loading yaks and boards on cars, finding parking and lugging stuff around. Thanks for all of your patience answering all of our questions staff! We had a blast and will be back again.
A R F A T H: Couldn't have been worse.I was asked to not to go into the lake, which was the whole point of me kayaking there. Because many others did.I got the rental for 2.5 hours. And just before I started, I was told that I couldn't kayak in the lake, but only on the inter side where there were plants and weeds that don't let anyone nearby.Still when I asked that I'd go up to the lake but not in it, they agreed and said it'd take 45 minutes one way, and I should use the remaining time getting back as me kayaking against the wind on my way back would cover up the remaining time I'd have left.Understanding that they have more knowledge about the area and time estimates, I listened to them. But it took me 50 minutes round trip, and I have no idea what to do for the remaining time I have left, and I am where I started. I can't go to the weeds area, nor can I go back the same trial I just did, to at least enter the lake and come back.I ended up returning the kayak 1.5 hours after I got it, therefore wasting my money, regretting to trust the crew, and not having fun because of this mess.Could it have been worse?I've kayaked many times before and guess what, Simple Adventures was the worst.
Walt Morgan: Had a great time on the Black Creek Marsh Sunset tour. Leah is a great guide. I definitely recommend this event.
Mitchell Barman: Had such an awesome time, they were so fun and relaxing! Will definitely be back! Perfect way to spend an evening!
Alex: Having wanted to learn kayaking for many years, I finally decided that this would be the year to start. To ensure that I go off to the right start, I choose Simple Adventures and could not be more please. Why? Sure making a reservation was easy, but the staff was very accomidating when I had to change appointment times, with Michaela being very easy to reach. For the lesson, instructor, Jordan, began with the basics before we even took to the water. He addressed all questions as well as taking the time to understand what I wanted to get out of kayaking. But the thing that really makes Simple Adventures a wonderful company is the people. Michaela and Jordan are incredibly patient and nice people who do nothing but try their best to provide the best experience possible for the customer. I was intending to take only one private lesson, but have already booked my second again because of this very friendly staff.

RKC Adventures: what do users think?
I Bee: I loved this place, workers can be a little more professional and stay off their phones, but the experience of kayaking belle isle is just magical. Please open up again!
Robert Not Bob: Try it
Sierra Barber: Beautiful experience on the paddle boats!
Rose Kaplan: The water is full of seaweed making it hard to paddle.
Kalyse E: Staff was friendly. Super easy process. Reasonable rates. We will be back. New or like new equipment. Paddle boats and bike buggies have optional umbrella tops to protect you from the Detroit summer sun. A great value at a beautiful location.
James Finley: Worst experience ever. Kayak was dirty filled with mud, couldn’t kayak under the bridges, water level too high and I am too tall. Also, water was very dirty.
Collin Gillam: Awesome.
Kayla Moser: Great prices, friendly staff.
Martin Solina: Nice place
Susan Angel: Fun thing to do inexpensively on Belle Isle!
Jennifer Perry: Friendly and helpful staff, love to rent kayaks and boards while spending time with my family on Belle Isle, now they are opening the giant slide. Highly recommend renting while visiting!
Laura Sabucco: Friendly people, love the nature, avoid trees with birds when kayaking, don't want them to poo on you. Had a blast.
Gary G: We rented a pedal pontoon, and really enjoyed our time. The weather was perfect and the staff was friendly - thanks for being apart of making Belle Isle beautiful, and FUN! 👍🏻
Hollie Elizabeth: So much fun! Great price. We found a wallet in the water on Sunday July 8th and turned it in to office. Excited to hear the big slide will open back up soon. Love Belle Isle.
Alicia Purser: The staff is so friendly and helpful.
Marquise Carter: It was a great experience i enjoyed the scenery
Saad Rehman: Tiffany and her team did a great job supporting our large group of 9th grade students. They were patient and made sure everyone was prepared and safe! We had a wonderful time kayaking and it was a greatly memorable experience for our students. A number of my students remarked that it was the best field trip they ever had! The RKC Adventures team accommodated our group when a lot of other places were closed (and they did all this when the Belle Isle Grand Prix preparation prevented access to their usual location). Thanks again RKC Adventures!
Stephen Conn: The Kayaks seats give you almost zero back support, which makes the whole experience very uncomfortable at best. I had just rented a kayak at a state park a few days ago that had plenty of back support and it was a lot of fun.
Al Al: I've been to Belle Isle many times since the state has taken over the park. There are many improvements and the bike/boat rental is one they needed. I know the canel's aren't yet as clear as they should be, but I'm sure this will improve as time goes on. This is now a place I feel safe going to. The bike path around the island is wonderful.
Mary Brown: We had a great experience on Belle Isle. The prices are good for a family and all of the staff was very friendly. The island is getting better every day since the State took over. Hope to be back more often. The rentals were busy in the afternoon, the employees said it is much slower earlier in the day. Looking forward to a nice fall paddle when the leaves change.
George Patsarikas: I would not recommend renting a kayak with RKC Adventures.Notwithstanding the fact that the canal and surrounding riverbed were not the most aesthetically pleasing (e.g., abandoned buildings, deteriorated basketball courts, murky water, etc.), the staff response to a legitimate concern regarding the accessibility of the canal merits the one-star rating.Specifically, we felt that downed logs in the canal made it extremely difficult and/or impossible to kayak through the canal into the lake. When we returned to the departure point and expressed our concerns, the staff did not attempt to seriously address the issue. Instead, the staff sarcastically and condescendingly responded, in more or less words, to deal with the logs. I think the staff could and should have responded to my questions differently and in a polite manner. If you are looking for an enjoyable kayaking experience, please go somewhere else.
