Heidelberg Restaurant & Bar: what do users think?

Cathy Morris: I had to stop in here since I am a graduate of Heidelberg University in Tiffin Ohio. We had a drink. The decor is so cool. They have three levels. The upstairs is available for private parties, the main floor is the restaurant, and the lower level is a cool bar vibe. There's a bar in the main restaurant as well. I'll being back to eat soon. The menu looked great.
Desiree Music: Recommended dishes Pretzel Bites, Potato PancakesMore
Table Nine: Pretty disappointing experience. I don’t go out much these days, but after that experience, I won’t be going back and won’t be recommending the Heidelberg. The food was okay, for the price it was nothing special. The service was somewhat slow, which was odd considering how empty it was in there, but there were a few key things really ruined the experience for me:1) if you go, ask for beer prices beforehand, because the draft list doesn’t have any prices listed and I was shocked to find out I had just spent $9 on an okay pint, nothing worth $9 in my mind, and I only found out when we received the bill.2) for a German food place, they have only two mustards, Heinz and housemade honey mustard, which is a mediocre selection when it comes to German sausage. I also requested a side of pickles to go with the sausage, I was told it’s not a typical request and that they’d have to charge me like $1, and again I was shocked to see that the tiny cup of sliced pickles actually cost us $3 when we received the bill. That was dishonest and an absurd price for some pickles. German sausage with pickles and mustard is a classic, ruined by this reckless charge and mistaken information from the server.3) I overheard employees talking ill about customers that had just left pretty loudly, loud enough for me to hear halfway across the restaurant. I will not offer patronage to an establishment where workers talk about customers in front of other customers. I get service workers like to talk, but that’s just super unprofessional.Overall I was fine with the food and beer until I got the bill, which totally ruined the experience because of the shocking hidden prices. Now I know next time I see an improved draft list to ask beforehand. Same about the pickles. What a ripoff.
Jimmy 3GreenThumbs: Can't say enough. Food on point. Staff friendly. Great prices.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Bevin Slade: Loved the atmosphere, food was delicious as well! Service was slow, they should work on that. They also tried to steal money from me! I had an $84 bill including tip and was charged $100 from them on my card!! What place does that??? NOT OKAYRecommended dishes Pretzel Bites …More
Amber B: Came to Ann Arbor from Ohio for the weekend with my boyfriend. The sausage and peppers I ate while there were absolutely amazing. I'd eat here everyday if I could. I'll most definitely return if in the area.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Stephen Black: Award winning service from Elena. She talked chef Beezy into staying late and whipping us up some great grub. The currywurst was das bomb.
Karl Yaërlsburg: Karl and Jasper went Heidelburging, and we did it drunken. Let me...do you have an idea of murky touching? what about an uncle tent surprise. This are good memories to have as a swedish boy man, but what about an american? Tough to say. I'd say yes, because my anerican cousin has trauma inside, due to events such as Subway Jerad touching and also OJ trial. Mishap, Id ganderer. Anyway, I did not mean to annoy with my finkle words, let me just say. We ate the shnicker-funcker and drank a beer I cannot remember. No I do remember now (delete button is broke down), it was the gerschaunden binky. Delicious and mind numbing in simplicity.Do not miss this exemplitude of truden moisen (this is translate to panty-hose revealer in English).

Raven Pool: Thanks Elena

goschill: Being German, we thought to give Metzger‘a a try for dinner. We had the Sauerbraten and a Hofbräu Bier. Beer was good and expensive. The Sauerbraten certainly didn’t taste like a Sauerbraten is supposed to taste and the Spätzle wouldn’t have passed in Germany. I guess Metzgers is a good place for American with no expectations, but I have no desire to eat there again.
Pennelope Blakely: Food is a good representation of German cuisine (according to our German exchange student), with meat and potatoes a main theme. Potato pancakes are wonderful and a possible side for all meals. We went for mother's day with a group of 7 so it was busy and there was a long wait for a table. Our orders were nearing closing time and its understandable after a long busy day, but we were quite rushed to order, eat, and leave; not sure if this is typical on other weekends.Decor is an eclectic array of German paraphernalia.
Nick Griffes: My wife LOVES the schnitzel!!! We usually get the wurst appetizer to start (Awesome!) I'll get the beef Patty thingies, ☺️ Very pricey but so worth it. Grace Su Ming: Great happy hour! The crispy ravioli is delicious. Wide selection of drinks. Staff were so friendly! Vegan and gluten free options.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Douglas T: Was suprised with the quality of the food. Fun place with a little history behind itFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Avin Vijay: Pretty underwhelming, especially for the price range.Ambience is quite good, and it seems like a good place to watch sports- so definitely a good place to catch an away match on a fall Saturday.Other than that, the food was quite underwhelming. The food options seemed to be thoughtfully curated based on the menu, but however, some of the signature dishes don't have it coming through when served on the plate.Drinks were moderately priced, and pretty watered down. In general, has to offer way less for the money.
Norbert Schneider: Overpriced pub food.A Facebook ad with great descriptions about their scallops made us believe they serve good food. What a disappointing experience. The scallops were luke warm, undercooked, garlic overloaded and 35$. The rigatoni was TV dinner quality. Everything overpriced.
Samantha Riga: Absolutely love this place!! The Bad Axe is the BEST burger in Ann Arbor area, not to mention Ashley is the greatest manager! Awesome atmosphere to watch any games!!
Mayra Rios-Benitez: A pity that we didn’t take pictures of our delicious dishes. I had the seared and roasted salmon, my husband had the Bad Axe Burger, and my niece had the Spanish octopus. They’re all savory, deliciously fantastic! It’s a noisy place but, hey, concentrate on savoring your food.
Ashley Baranski: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5More
David Gagnon: Pricey for basic bar food. Drink prices average. Very loud, especially on game days/nights. Speaker microphone combination very loud, hard to understand. Quite annoying. Needs to be addressed.
Michael Detmer: Great place for dinner, staff was very personableFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Charles Carlson: A Classic - Upscale pub food - Love the Cubano, Charlie Brown burger, the fish n Chips.... never had a bad dish here. Great service and clearly a chef that cares about the food. Awesomeness! Oh, and the best carrot cake on the planet!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Thomas Sanderson: 30 minutes to get a drink. 1 hour to get cold food. Terrible.
Christine Comer: I have to admit, this visit was not up to par. Service was great, as busy as it was, but the kitchen dropped the ball on our last minute table add... Big-time. My sense is that like all businesses, staffing is maxed and rushes are taxing, but this was a noticeable problem.Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Trish Meyer: Had a fabulous cafe lunch on their outdoor patio. The chef had one of the best appetizers of the tuna wonton - highly recommend. My blackberry drink was also amazing
M B: The Korean Short Ribs were awesome. For my entree I got the pasta which was so bland it wasn’t worth eating. The steak was mediocre. The rest of my table had the fish tacos and they said they were great.
KL ENZO: Excellent a sunny sunday to having a cup of coffee
christopher campagnari: A great place for a beer and a well done casual meal.
Anne Sales: We wanted to eat in downtown Ann Arbor because we were going to a show at the Ark. We arrived about 6:30, knowing it was a home game weekend. We weren't expecting the insane crowds of people eating out, coupled with low staffing at many of our formerly favorite places to eat. We finally moved further north on Main Street and saw that Diamond Jim's didn't have a crazy crowd so we decided to try our luck. It was a great choice. We sat at the bar and had the friendliest and best service we've had in quite a while from Ashley and Andreos. The food came quickly and was delicious. The salad was excellent, followed by our mains-- mine salmon while my husband had the whitefish. Both were great. We shared a dessert. The dragons sangria was truly wonderful. Strongly recommend!
Cody Cooper: Excellent burger! We told our waitress we were in a slight hurry to catch a concert and they definitely accommodated!
