The University Inn Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Michael Barley: Rooms: CleanHotel highlights Great value …More
Steve Butterfield: This is an old, tired, motel that has seen it's better days. It is definitely a very basic place to spend the night while you are visiting Ann Arbor. It's okay, nothing more. It's location is great.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Amber K: Close to stores, quiet location, friendly staff, large rooms, 11 check out. Nice😎Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Madison VanCleave: I don’t even know where to start with my experience at this “hotel”. This is a motel, even though it is advertised as a hotel. Now onto the problems with our first room, it was not clean it looked like there was dried blood on the sheets. You could see outside from the ac system, as well as under the door. Shower was dirty, and hair still on the drain. And nail next to the microwave. We asked for a different room due to the first being unclean and there was no apology or urgency, took us to the second room and the employee admitted that this one wasn’t the cleanest either. As you can see in the last 5 pictures there looked to be bodily fluids still on the carpet, when we looked under the sink there were dirty bags as well as a pop can still there. The sheets were cleaner but they were still very questionable spots. And you can’t forgot about the lovely bug that crawled out of the sink in the morning. This place is not worth your money, go somewhere, you deserve it. I wish I had gone to a different hotel.
Bryan Parson: Stayed there a while back and my wife ended up getting bit by bedbugs multiple times. Not one returned email or phone call. They initially told me that they would refund the last couple days of our stay, then immediately change their story to “not our problem, take it up with the booking agency.” The last couple reviews we tried to leave never ended up showing on Google. I will honestly be shocked if this one does. Long story short, spend your money elsewhere.
Chris Matthew Porter: Review coming soon.
Jessi Kate Roeters-Chapman: Clean and basic. Exactly what we needed and a great priceRooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Daniel Obiagbaoso: It is really nice, but the location was not really a big for meRooms: 2/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 3/5 …More
Quentin Ikuta: 2 star review for 2 star hotel. You can get what you pay for. The walls and doors are not well insulated or sealed meaning you can easily hear people outside. Had to request fresh sheets and towels due to stains. Stains on everything. Dial pad on microwave was coming off. However, for the cheap price ($75/night after taxes) the location is very good and convenient, heat worked well, beds are of acceptable comfort, shower water was hot, and staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast room was also handy.
Vikram Kulkarni: Location is great. The prices are affordable. The property is old, but gives decent value for your money.Staff was helpful. We had to extend our stay due to flights cancellations caused by winter storm Elliot. The staff was accommodating and allowed us to stay for two more nights at the same rate. We ended up leaving after one day in the extended period and the management refunded the remaining money.
Karen Garvey: You get what you pay for. The room was in need of a good, deep cleaning. Carpet had lots of stains. Comforter on bed was extremely grey and thin. Cobwebs along floorboards. Mini blind in bathroom did not completely cover the window, which overlooks Stadium Blvd. The worst part, however, was the door to the outside. The frame had obviously been broken in the past and patch job was unsightly and looked unsafe. The deadbolt was in dire need of some maintenance and I had a difficult time unlocking it. I chose this motel because it had a good Expedia rating and the room photos were nice, but extremely misleading. I travel to Ann Arbor often but I will not stay here again.
Annette Belonga: The hitel is old and is in need of repair but the room was clean and comfortable. The loction was easily accessible to both Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Pulling on to the main room took a bit of time and patience. Staff was curtious and informative.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Tammy Ebbert: No elevator n stairwell railing to short an steps somewhat narrow not a good option for the disabled
Teresa Orozco: This place is not even get a star from me- but I have to put one cause it won’t let me post… literally got bit up from bed bugs…… went to go tell the lady in the front desk and she did not believe, I had to take her back up to the room I was in and show her all the bugs on the bed……. I left the same night I got thereRooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
Barbara Greco: I was surprised for the price of the hotel it was very clean & nice. Including the nice guy that checked us in.Rooms: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Location: 4/5 …More
Stephanie Thornton: Wish we would have read the review from a month ago before staying. Had 3 rooms for an event nearby. All were some level of dirty. Footprints on the wall in one room. Dirty hand prints and some sort of stains in another. Looked like the door had been kicked in at some point. Cheap for the area but for a reason. Tiny bathrooms. Would not recommend staying unless like the other post said you are a group of 19 year olds looking for a room to party in.
Janell Foley: So there was two gentlemen that managed this place they are absolutely delightful and wonderful I love them both seems to me the last time I was here there was a woman manager she was absolutely horrible she illegally barged into my room because it was check out time started screaming at us while we were trying to dry our hair and get ready for the football game it was the worst the worst representative of management I have ever seen so if anybody that sees this that is over her head get rid of her or you're going to get rid of your customers she's horrible don't know her name it was around February of 2022 when I was there and she was horrible the gentleman on the other hand wonderful

Gail Flanagan: Excellent hotel with spacious rooms and kitchen. Walkable to so many bars and restaurants.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Johann Majer: Staff is very nice and friendlyService: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Gino Gisondo: Room was nice. Location is great. You can basically walk anywhere in downtown Ann Arbor. It was insanely dry, but most hotels are. Main pitfall was that the shower didn't drain. Very common problem in hotels, but it always sucks and makes the stay way less enjoyable.Rooms: Very spacious. Beds not yet ruined by years of use or over weight guests. Clean.Walkability: Extremely walkable
Patrick Martin: Parking here is a pain to fine and then the parking lot is $28 a night which gets really expensive when you want to spend a weekend hereRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 2/5 …More
Tonya Owens: House keeping once a week. And no room service. Breakfast wasn't so goodRooms: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 3/5 …More
DY Lin: This hotel is ideally situated to explore downtown Ann Arbor & access the university. Everywhere we needed to go was within walking distance. The property was extremely clean and well maintained (one of my pet peeves is slow drains in hotels, but that was not a problem here). One small improvement would be the lighting in the rooms - overall, the lighting is quite dim & cast an unpleasant institutional glow in the rooms. The building is kept at a comfortable temperature, so there was no need to use the in-room heater (i.e., made for a quieter night & better sleep). The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and quick to award the benefits associated with membership status. (Thank you, Walter!) Would definitely stay here again.
Edward Zamora: Great experience, Love to stay here again...
Chris Trechter: Pretty average hotel experience. Room was clean but had terrible sound insulation and could only be boiling hot or freezing cold. Can't expect much more from your average American hotel chain these days.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 3/5 …More

Janna Zielke: We love this hotel! The staff are very friendly, the rooms are comfortable for any length of stay, and the fitness room is great. We always stay here when in town - location is AMAZING and you can walk anywhere downtown Ann Arbor. I wish it was less expensive but due to size of room and location, it is still worth it. We tried a cheaper airbnb apartment nearby and it was just not the same, and of course you can stay somewhere not downtown for much cheaper but then you have to uber. Definitely recommend this place!
Bill Bickel: Extremely happy with my arrival and the service of the front desk. I needed extra blankets due to special circumstances and I had them in 60 seconds. I hsd some additional requests out of the ordinary and Steve at the front desk treated me like he knew me my whole life. He was authentic and helpful and efficient and after the long 24 hours I had, this was very much a welcome atmosphere.
Mary Lemmer: I’ve stayed here several times and always had a good experience! Great customer service and high quality rooms!
Cindy Warber: We went to Ann Arbor for a girl's weekend with shopping and a comedy show. Everything was within walking distance. The suite was perfect, and breakfast was very delicious and had a great variety.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Parvathy Viswamohan: Good for work meetings. Readily available parking structuresLocation: 5/5 …More
KenDor Amano: The Residence Inn @ Ann Arbor Downtown, is walking distance to great restaurants, bars and shops & close proximity to U-Mich. Rooms are comfortable and clean but a bit dated. What pushes this location to the top is the service we received from Walter @ the front desk;. warm and friendly hospitality and always helpful. We’ve been back multiple times and other staff members were just as accommodating. 5 stars for the complimentary mid day donuts and Insomnia cookies. The mostly pre packaged breakfast was on par with similar hotel offerings. The price of the room can vary significantly. The rate was $259 in April and $420 in August and September.
Michael A. Spielmaker (SPIEL): Very clean rooms, lobby, front desk Manager and staff extremely helpful and friendly. Good location to downtown stores and restaurants. All staff members thanked me for my service to country🇺🇲Rooms: Clean⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Nearby activities: Plenty of stores near by also a Chase bankSafety: College town good public service officers and local police hotel has locking doors to gain entrance you need your room keyWalkability: Plenty of restaurants to walk to.

Red Roof Inn Ann Arbor - University of Michigan South: what do users think?
Michael Viger: Absolute worst experience ever. Staff was unbelievably rude, invasive, paid for 2 nights and was going to stay a 3rd but we got delayed 30 mins past check out (during which time they had 3 different staff members aggressively pounding on the door 3 different times, and told them each time we were renewing our stay) due to them not accepting over the phone payments (it’s 2023!!!). When we got cash to take to the desk, they belittled us and said they were within their rights to call the police since we weren’t out at 11. They didn’t offer a prorated extension like other establishments with good service, they threatened to call the police….then refused to renew our stay for a 3rd night. When we went to collect our $40 deposit after getting our belongings out, it had mysteriously disappeared and they told us we didn’t leave a deposit (we did). And we just found ourselves covered in bed bug bites!
Jack Miller: Comfy little spot and easy to get to shops and the mall but that bathrooms are a little cramped and the bathroom fan is crazy loudRooms: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More
David Paladino: Check-in was quick. Booked online. Stated online there would be an additional 50$ convenience/service fee of some sort paid in cash at check-in. Never happened so that was a plus. At the counter, the king room appeared to have a fridge and coffee maker of which there was noneFood & drinks: There was a hooters in front with in walking distance and many other choices a quick drive up the street.
jamal ibrahim: I was asked to put 40$ security deposit and when i left I wasn’t refunded ( a different lady was at the reception who knew nothing) anyway i was advised to call later. I called and when i asked for the deposit the lady hung up on me and when i called back she said she wasn’t gonna argue with me and hung up again! Big thieves. Not recommended.
Angela M: Got a room here while my power was out from the recent ice storm. While I wasn't expecting much from a red Roof inn, the pictures online were definitely nicer than the actual room I stayed in. Also, the price of the room was doubled because of the power outages.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Matt Dietrich: You get what you pay for. Close to University of Michigan campus (less than 2 miles). The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. We will leave it at that.
Miriam McGrath: Great location. Staff were very helpful. Love the fact they take dogs. Great value for the money. Shipping, restaurants close by. Will stay againRooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Clean Champs: Roaches everywhere would not recommend front desk is no help and inconsiderate
Stephanie Avellino: Horrible horrible place mean evil stall
Courtney Hladish: Room: dirtyAroma: pinesol/mold/smokeVibe: bed bugsThe room was decrepit there were some sort of bugs. The curtains were ripped. There were stains everywhere, bed, chairs countertops. It smelled like moldy smoke with layered in pinesol. Tried to deal with the situation via corporate but was playing phone tag calls back and forth for weeks. No one could help or give a refund after paying for 5 nights and leaving after 10 minutes. The people that work there were extremely inappropriate and rude. It almost seemed like they wanted to escalate an already horrible situation. I would rather lose the money than have to sleep there.I recommend staying at the Sonesta next door. It’s more affordable, clean, and spacious.
Laura Turner: VERY GOOD PPL GOING BAC THIZ WEEK:)Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Pramit Das: Customer service isn't efficient. The place doesn't give basic stuff like toothpaste and brushes in their rooms.

Quality Inn & Suites Ann Arbor Hwy 23: what do users think?
Jmayc: The first room they gave us here had rips in the sheets like an animal ripped it up and a bite taken out of the plastic protector on the box spring. The second room we were given wasn’t in great shape either. There’s a mirror missing from the bathroom door with chunks of the mirror’s frame still there, there’s screws on the wall for a missing picture frame, someone stole the landline phone, the curtains are broken, and there’s cracks in the tub. The hall ways smell like someone was smoking cigarets in them. We tried to get a refund to go elsewhere and they don’t offer refunds. I would not recommend going here.Rooms: Like I said in my main review things are broken, missing or stolen, and nothing feels clean.
Desiree Gray: The rooms are decent and fairly clean for the price, but the staff is practically non-existent. When I walked into the lobby, there wasn't an employee standing behind the counter. I had to wait a while before he came from the back room to help me get checked in.Rooms: 3/5|Service: 2/5|Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet …More
Charles Jones: Hotel was over booked and people who paid for rooms were turned away without refunds. Our room didn't have functioning plumbing and was dirty.Front desh clerk was uncaring and antagonistic toward guests. Stay away until it gets new management.Rooms: Dirty and not maintained
David Paladino: It was alright. Room was clean. Ice machine upstairs didn't work. Soda machine down stairs took my money and my drink got stuck. Vending machine upstairs wouldn't take dollars. Other than that it was a good place to stay since the Marriott was fully booked.Hotel highlights Kid-friendly …More
Jeff Smith: If you care about your privacy and the safety of your belongings, do not go here at all! They will force their way into your rooms before your checkout to steal anything you have of value. Management will play games with you, but at the end of the day switch up and act like they aren't responsible for anything. This place needs new employees that don't extort and steal from guests.Noteworthy details: Also, there is no real customer service to go through for help with any of your concerns. It'll get filed and forgotten, no response whatsoever after a week of constant follow-up....
George Sanders: All of the employees are rude thieves, they will rush you out of your room before the checkout time to take your personal belongings. They will act like they will check for items in their lost and found, but never actually do anything. 0 out of five stars, don't go here unless you want to be treated like trash.Noteworthy details: If you have anything important don't even take it to this place, it will be stolen.
Evan Schut: Locked me out of my room over a $10 pet fee. Go somewhere else unless you hate yourself.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
Alex Parent: As with others the staff is rarely at the front desk and nobody is in uniform so good luck finding anyone to help. You can find the maintenance guy but he smells like booze and seems to be responding to few of the many problems clearly present in the rooms. A sheet was on the front desk which shows requests to change rooms. One couple found blood on their sheets. Our room was actually clean, but the rudeness of the staff and the overall threatening atmosphere of a place like this is below the hospitality industry. Below the standards of quality inn and Choice Hotels the group that owns the brand.Eric Temple the General Manager is especially a problem. Besides the words he called my wife, the obvious racism in his bringing up her skin color, he was purely rude and it looks like from the other reviews that he has an "on/off" switch for hospitality. He was purely rude and insulting and refused to help in any way. The only thing he did right was not charge us for the room he refused to give us after we brought some of our complaints to him in hopes of changing rooms and getting a better rate for one more night.I expected them to try and charge it anyway. The place just feels like a trap and a con. Plenty of people had valid reasons for wanting refunds and or a change of room and they would disappear and just brush everything off. It was just a gross run down hotel with nobody in it interested in helping, or doing anything besides shrug you off. The maids were in uniform, but they also peek into rooms through the peephole instead of knocking. If there was a redeemable quality to speak of. There was one person at the front desk the first day who was decent. But that was one fraction of this particular employees day and based on everything else we saw and experienced it's just very unlikely that he was innocent of the same kind of rudeness that seemed to be present in every person who identified themselves as an employee. I wouldn't return here if it was the only warm bed left on the planet. Not after the way the GM spoke to my wife and then the way he spoke to me. If we had gotten one shred of help or understanding maybe I'd feel a little different, but it was pure resistance from the beginning. We should have trusted the reviews and avoided what they all seem to point to is a guaranteed terrible stay at a dreadful hotel.Quality Inn has some work to do as far as oversight and quality control. Shouldn't be hard when it's in the name, but it is clear this sight isn't visited much by any oversight.Noteworthy details: It seems that no matter the complaint or how valid it is that these folks will still try to keep your money and they will be as rude and threatening as they have to be to make you leave.
Robert Lee: The location was the only saving grace. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was in smelled like pot smoke. Yea, it's Michigan, but still. The front desk staff or lack thereof really didn't care about what was going on. When I got to my room, there were no blankets or sheets. I went to the front desk to get sheets, No blankets were available. I went to Meijer to get one. The shower curtain was mounted too high up. Water flooded the bathroom. Somebody could slip, or worse. Most of the lights in the room didn't work. Fortunately, I didn't need light to get sleep. To call this place a roach motel would be an insult to pesticides. Spend an extra ten or twenty bucks and go elsewhere. The only thing that could make this place worse was if they started renting beds by the hour.
Sara Lorenz: If I could give zero stars I would. This facility is not clean, staff is not friendly and they tell you, you can cancel your room but you won’t get your money back…even when it’s an emergency medical situation.Rooms: Not clean.
Gio Thompkins: When we arrived they gave us a room that was still dirty and looked occupied so Our room was charged with no problem, but once in this room the curtains were coming down and the TV did not work so I went to call the front desk and guess what? No phone. Waiting for maintenance. SMHRooms: 1/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Ypsi Guy: This place has gone down hill. I was there and the front desk worker is very rude. My neice was walking the dog and stopped by the room and the front desk worker told her that if the dog steps in the room he was going to charge her room as well for a pet fee. The shower in the room looked like the ceiling was gonna fall through and patches everywhere in the bathroom. I seen a bug on the door that lead to an ajoinong room. I took a pic then image searched it. It was a cockroach or bedbug. I grabbed all our belongings and we checked out of the Hotel.
Heidi Ornalik: From the moment I walked in hotel, dirty, carpet filthy, paint chipping off walls everywhere ceiling leaking in entry way, when I cked out with buckets on floorRooms: 1/5|Service: 3/5|Location: 4/5 …More
monforus: place was dirty.. there was insects and roaches. doors damaged and missing handles everywhere, stains, paint missing, broken tvs. breakfast buffet was not up kept food was old, staff was not there to assist and then rude when we found forks and papertowel refills ourselfs in the cabinet. most rooms smelled of stale cigarettes despite being told it was non smoking.
Tina Taylor: One of the worst hotels so far soooooo dirty everything towels that looked like they have bin sitting by the pool for months dirty bottoms in the hot tub hot tub closed (no wonder) just so bad don't evan waist your money
Cadance House: this place was very misleading. the hot tub was under construction, the online pictures were very misleading
Maddy Dorton: it was very bad , the toilet didn’t work in the first room , then they switched our room, but when we first got here the front desk staff weren’t here.Rooms: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Location: 1/5 …More
W Bryan Jackson: Late check in, gentleman behind the counter went above and beyond. Hot water for shower took awhile to get hot but over all, not bad.Rooms: Had a single room with a king bed, very spacious.

Red Roof PLUS+ Ann Arbor - University of Michigan North: what do users think?
jamal battle: This place totally gave me the business on the rate I paid just not worth the price SMH.Rooms: Room was clean but unremarkable pretty basic put high price for what it was.Noteworthy details: Do your home work for this area much better available for same price.
Klono: Great place to stay! Lots of U of M things in this area. Clean rooms, free grab as you go breakfast.Noteworthy details: They allow 1 pet! Aka pet friendly.
Tianyue Li: I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional service provided by one of your employees, Raymond, at the Red Roof Plus+.Last night, my girlfriend was feeling unwell and we were driving when she suddenly needed to use the bathroom urgently. We pulled into the parking lot of your hotel and were fortunate enough to encounter Raymond at the front desk. He immediately went above and help us find a bathroom and my girlfriend feels much better later.Raymond's kindness and compassion during a stressful situation truly made a difference for us. His willingness to help without hesitation is a testament to his character and his dedication to his job. We are grateful for his assistance and wanted to make sure that his exceptional service did not go unnoticed. As a previous guest of Red Roof Plus+, I have had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional service your hotel provides. With Raymond's assistance during our recent stay, I am further compelled to make a dedicated effort to exclusively visit the Red Roof Plus+ during my future visits to Ann Arbor. Raymond's assistance and the overall experience we had at your hotel have left a lasting impression on us.Please convey our sincerest thanks to Raymond and recognize him for the outstanding work he does. He is a true asset to your team and we will be sure to recommend Red Roof Plus+ to anyone in need of a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.

Lee Maile: The room is clean and a little dated but clean. Service at the desk has been wonderful.
Jesse Spencer: Super friendly staff. I've paid to be a guest here before and I've also worked with this location before through a referral service throughHAWC (I also utilized HAWC myself to help get out of a situation with an ex before.)The staff here is professional regardless of your circumstances. My biggest props here go to the amazing housekeeping staff & desk staff - all of whom are beyond super kind and helpful.Throughout my life in general and in social services, I've interacted with **SO*MANY** hotel staff. This location has long been one of my favorites and when I utilized it personally through HAWC, especially with a child? It was truly a relief to discover where I'd been placed.Management is supportive and super kind as well, but how they truly shine for me is in their hiring process and the staff they have on-site. Mad kudos and props to this location for their good work and service to our community, as well as an overall hospitality location 👏None of this is addressing that they're right off north campus in Ann Arbor, there's a Plum Market, CVS, bus stops and a 24/7 gas station across the street (along with another shopping plaza). So there's so much convenient about it as well!

Ginny: I lost power during the ice storm, and this motel was great about allowing me to bring my pets with me. They had heat, hot water, and electricity. The check in and out process was smooth, and the staff were excellent. The room itself was disgusting. There was something sticky on the floor, the toilet didn't like to flush, there were no coat hangers, you couldn't fully open the door without hitting the fridge, the walls are paper thin, there was the front of a drawer sitting on top of the dresser, and the bed was in desperate need of a new mattress.
Michele Monette: This hotel use to have clean rooms. We had stayed in the past several times. The rooms were dirty, shower curtain had stains, ceiling had water damage. The hotel workers were staying in the rooms next to us. One night they were smoking pot outside the hotel room. In the other room the worker had a dog who he let pee right outside the room near side walk.
Margaret Cazzola: Great shower, great staff . Breakfast was a bottle of water, a granola bar and another breakfast bar. Our coffeemaker didn't work but coffee was available 24/7 in the office.
Loretta New: An ice storm hit the morning we were leaving; at 11am, we asked for a late check-out. The front desk advised we could stay until noon or be charged for another day. Not great.
ramenkittyz: I booked an emergency stay Wednesday night after a severe storm caused the transformer outside my rental to ignite. Minor dirt and disarray of the room aside, all was fine until Friday when my rate had doubled! 84$ to 176$ just because they had sold out. My late checkout was also revoked with no notice, leaving me with no choice but to extend the stay until power was restored. I would have moved to a different hotel if it were possible. This location (and possibly chain) are horribly predatory during times of crisis. It was bad enough to be without power/heat, but to charge people double during a time of hardship?? Absolutely maddening.Rooms: Dirt inside the dressers and stained walls.Safety: Random people walking around, they aren't the friendly sort.Noteworthy details: Red Roof Inn price gauges during power outages and severe storms. My rate climbed from 84 to 176 a night and late checkout was revoked simply because they sold out... leaving me with no time to find an alternative. They're very predatory.
