Barbara Kroll: Denise is an exceptional stylist. My hair is fine & damages easily, and she knows exactly what to do with it. My cuts look great and are manageable immediately and stay that way as my hair grows out - a true sign of a great cut! I continue to drive an hour+ to use this salon, even after I moved out of A2 - I would not let anyone else touch my hair. I have really difficult hair to cut (it grows straight out, and I have cowlicks in the front and back) but in 10 years… these are by far, the best haircuts I’ve ever had and it’s such a chill fun environment. Nisa Habibi: When entering the salon I was greeted with a warm welcome and was cared for attentively. I believe it was Julia who helped me. She was obviously well knowledgeable in her craft and was open to communicating freely with her client (me) about what they'd like done. I have curly hair and so Julia expertly delt with it trying her best to cut my hair in a way best for my curl pattern, while still respecting my desire to maintain my length. She was friendly, professional and helpful, happily lending me advice on how to maintain my hair when asked. Overall I had a great experience here and all of the staff seem to have great relationships with their clients.

Aryn Paige: You can find pictures of just how badly my hair was butchered here in their photos.....the hair they were so proud of.I went here for a color correction and hair cut...I was told my expectations were extremely realistic and we could get me to the warm tone blonde i had asked for ...I left the salon with dark brown hair, a couple highlights and an extremely jagged haircut ....when I called the salon to explain the issue I was told I was just trying to get my money back cuz I was too poor for their services and talked to as if I was a child. The professionalism at this salon is extremely lacking. I have now been banned from this salon for calling them out on shoty work and asking for a refund or for them to fix the problems with my hair. I would never recommend this salon to ANYONE unless you just flat out done care how your hair comes out. I wish I could give this salon negative stars. Never have I been treated so poorly and talked down to the way I was by both the stylist as well as the manager. When I tried to speak I was told not to when she was done talking and I explained how brown was no where near blonde she yelled through me the entire time and kept saying you arent welcome at our salon, did you hear that? Do you understand that? DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON

Farzaneh Ziaee: I didn’t have good experiences in my three visits there! Here is a brief report.In my first visit, my hair stylist, Becky, refused to highlight my hair and claimed my hair didn’t pass a test and warned that bleaching would damage my hair. Based on the test which I never really understood what they did in that, SHE DECIDED ( yeah that’s funny! Instead of me she decided) to just color my hair. I told her three times that I do want a brighter color than my natural hair and she ignored every time and DID WHAT WAS EASIER FOR HER. Sounded like she was trying to avoid what she did call as risks without even paying attention to WHAT I WANT. Finally, it ended up a jet back color even darker than my own hair.During the coloring process, I kept telling her that I was not happy with it and again there was no sign of responsibility.When I complained, the manager set an appointment which made me more disappointed. She treated me arrogantly while pretending she wanted to solve the problem. She suggested going several sessions (!!!!) to correct the color!!! Due to her bad behavior I refused to continue that process.But I took the suggestions and did several deep conditioning treatment myself to hydrate my hair but again in my last visit they claimed my hair didn’t pass that crazy test again. To prove them wrong, I went to another salon and colored and highlighted my hair exactly what I wanted.Take home message: NEVER trust those people that set unreasonable, and absurd guidelines that are not worth it. I am attaching photos to challenge that magic tests!!!!!!If I had this chance to give them zero star, I would do that not because of the quality of the work but the unfriendly treatment of the management and staffs!!!I deleted my photos!

Sierra clark: I was in desperate need of a haircut and I was able to get an appointment within the day which doesn’t happen. I’ve been to a lot of hairstylists over the past few years but I didn’t feel like they got my vision quite like how I wanted it. I booked my appointment with Ariyanna and decided to try it out. I’m definitely over the moon with how good it turned out she would ask me questions on how far I wanted my trim to go and even asked if I wanted face framers which I completely forgot to tell her. I’ve always had a hard time to get my hair to curl for anything and she some how managed to get it on the first try. I will gladly go back again but not on a weekend when Ann Arbor is busy.

Tamm was personable, kind, and really listened. I have fine hair and, often, curtain bangs turn out too wispy. This time, not at all! My hair looks healthy and stylish. I am very happy, and look forward to seeing her again in a few months for another cut (and perhaps a bang trim in between). The experience at Douglas J was great--they were friendly and professional. After waiting 20 minutes I was told that the appointment was actually at 1 pm. That was bs because the system had sent me an autogenerated confirmation email the day before stating that the appointment was at 12:30. I had booked it the day before and repeated the time back to the receptionist several times. Haircut was just ok. P A: I booked an appointment through class pass, which is a memebership that uses credit on your account to access yoga classes aswell as services like hairdressing or manicure.When i was about to check out the Salon had never heard of this and made me pay on top of having used my credits.I would of never gone to this hairsalon if i could not have booked it through classpass.I left the salon not really knowing what my hair was like as i can't see behind my back and kinda felt anxious about the whole story.Once i got home i realised that in addition to had payed double i also had un unfinished haircut.The person who cut my hair was sweet but she didn't do what i asked and came for ,which was trimming my ends in a straight line/cut.A very basic haircut.My hair was tied into a bun when i arrived,i untied them ,she didn't brush my hair and just said,"we gonna do a rough cut".Never heard of this and was very skeptical but though she knew what she was doing.OBVIOUSLY to cut hair in a straight line you have to untangle them first so you know that all the hair will be in a straight line.Just like when you cut a basic bang,you have to be very precise and not gonna cut it while the hair are all messed up right ? Otherwise is will look everything but straight.Well the result is that it isn't straigh and there is strands of uncut hair sticking out the ends...Anyway,i tried to contact the manager without success, only had the customer service attendant on the phone who first proposed me either a re-do or a refund.As i don't live here and don't trust anyone in this hair salon to cut my hair again i accepted a refund.After a few days,as i heard nothing back from the manager confirming me that they would process a refund,i called again to have a different person on the phone who assured me that only a re-do was possible and not a refund.Basically giving me then a different answer.For me it was unacceptable concidering that they had me waiting with my unfinished haircut for days,as i thought i had to come to the salon to show them the result in order to get a refund.By now i still have no news,they are apparently super busy.By the way,when i showed up for my appointment there was zero clients.I can't believe how this salon is handling his clients and not giving a good customer service.Service:Haircut

M S: My Girlfriend went in to ask about and potentially buy some shampoo. She's not necessarily the type to go into a salon/supply store but she was in the market and decided the best place to attempt to buy Aveda products might be the Douglas J salon.She asked an associate for some help (she's never bought it before and doesn't know exactly what benefits one might have vs the other) and was talked down to as if she were a fool for not knowing how different the two shampoos she was interested in were.You'd think that they might want to be a bit nicer and more helpful when potential customers are walking in and interested in buying some fairly expensive products independent of getting hair services done!

Saba Jahanbin: I was very excited for this hair cut and styling appointment, since the salon has fabulous reviews. I show up to my my appointment and 20 minutes later, they let me know that my stylist is running behind and they are not feeling well and are not going to see me. Now I understand that you can feel unwell, but it’s the salon’s / stylist’s responsibility to notify me that they want to cancel an appointment in advance. I really don’t appreciate my time being wasted.I ended up going with another stylist who’s name is not even on the official website (I realized this after the appointment). And although the second stylist tried their best, what I ended up getting was a very expensive blow out (I will not fault them for lack of experience. I should’ve just said no) Overall this was not the experience I signed up for.

Katie Baker: Karin and Company Salon knows how to make their clients feel special. The salon is adorable and spacey. You never feel like you're too close to the person next to you...which is awesome. Their prices are very reasonable and they always do a fantastic job. The real hero though, is Michael! This man is the only person allowed to highlight or color my hair. I have thick hair that can take a normal person hours to foil, but Michael is magic. He not only does he foil my hair in record time...it turns out exactly how I want it. Did you hear that...EXACTLY HOW I WANT IT! How often do you ask a stylist for something and when you leave...it's not what you were looking for? Too often if you don't have an amazing stylist, like Michael. He not only is honest (hey, that may take 2 or 3 processes to get ideal color or your hair won't lay like that picture, it will do this instead), but he works to create a outcome that you will love! She then suggested she do highlights with a blend of balayage so when my roots grow in it looks more natural if I can’t make it to the salon right away. Her shampoo bowl head massage was the best massage I’ve ever gotten! She wasn’t in a hurry and made sure to pamper me. S P: Previously, I had been trying to speak with Taylor, the general manager, for several days to address a misinformation issue among the staff. Tricho is not upfront about their pricing and I was quoted $180-230 for a balyage by not one, but three of the staff members at this salon. I had never had my hair colored before and was inquiring about general information such as prices and stylists. No one informed me that the person I scheduled my appointment with was above this given estimate as she holds seniority, but I’m not sure how I was supposed to know that as someone who made clear that she had only ever received haircuts at Tricho and without pricing signage or appointment confirmation. As a long-time customer at Tricho, I am disappointed and appalled at the lack of customer service and follow-through. I was originally intending to speak with the general manager about being charged for this miscommunication error on the staff's end, but now my complaint extends to the management at Tricho. I tried to get ahold of Taylor for five days, and each time was told that she would be notified and give me a call back the next day. Well, obviously the messages were either not being conveyed, or the manager was simply ignoring my attempts to speak with her as she never contacted me. You can imagine my frustration at not being able to talk with the person in charge on top of the original matter that I was calling to correct. This was beyond unprofessional as I had been going on day 5 of no response after being reassured that I would be contacted 5 different times. Eventually, on my fifth day of trying to speak with someone, I was contacted by the desk manager. I am still shocked by the level of unprofessionalism in this phone call. After I explained my situation and that I was surprised at the bill being $120 more than quoted, her snarky response was “I’m sorry you’ve never gotten your hair colored before.” Never did I get to speak with the general manager who ignored my calls for almost a week, nor was I compensated for the overcharge. Needless to say, I will be taking my business elsewhere and recommending all of my friends and family members do the same.Service:Balayage

June is extremely hospitable and friendly, and the prices are amazing compared to other stores around the area. If you have Asian hair, this is the place to go. I’ve also gotten multiple perms here, it turned out great. Overall I would definitely recommend

Leon Li: Since I was new to AA, my friend recommended me this salon. However, based on my two times experience, I feel the service here is not very professional. For the first time I came there, my hair was cut in about 10 minutes (never experience any haircut in about 10 minutes in US), but it looked okay at least. For the second time, my haircut was extremely uneven. After I asked the barber to fix, it even looked worse. I will not come here for haircut.

And she cut all my curls out. Do you think am I a fool? U cut my curls out so u think I would perm my hairs next time and u get the money? Absolutely I wont do it at ur salon forever. She finished my cut in 10 mins and cut my hairs like randomly. I showed her picture how my hairs looked like after I permed it last time. She still cut it so bad and nothing similar to the selfie I showed to her. She is even satisfied with her “Masterpiece” 💀. My hairs are totally fked up. Dont go.

June cut my hair in less than 10 minutes, used the clippers on the top of my head and didn’t even use scissors until I asked her specifically to thin out my hair after she said she was “finished”. She didn’t respond and was clearly annoyed and went to thin out my hair with scissors like she was cutting grass.
