Shawn A: Was a ok store until they started just closing the store on random days. Drive all the way there when google says it’s open just to see a stupid sign on the door! Unprofessional!

I really like the vibe, please be aware there are some fungus gnats so maybe get some discounted Bti or pyrethrins as well, you’re gonna need them if you buy soil from here. Gnats die quick if you spray a few times.

Isaac Hurley: This review is more for grabbing the attention of the owners or whoever is in charge of plants at Downtown H&G, because actually this place is great, 5 Stars. Great products for pets, cooking, and gardening. They stock great brands. Personally, I love that they have Arborwear clothing, Lodge cast iron cookwear, and I became a collector of Polish Pottery because of this store. So, all that said, there is an issue...STOP PUTTING THE BARE ROOT FLOWERING PLANTS (i.e. Trilliums, Bloodroots, Virginia Bluebells, Trout Lillies, Mayapples, Twinleafs, etc.) ON THE SHELVES OVER THAT RADIATOR. Even if they weren't over the radiator you shouldn't store them indoors. The heat and the light are forcing the plants too early and creating conditions that cause the plants to fail before customers take them home. As well, if the plants are planted outdoors they're shocked by the difference in conditions between Michigan Spring and the cozy confines of Downtown H&G's store. Every year I come to buy these products, they're over the radiator and there's already mold forming within the containers on the rootstock, and plant material that has emerged is beginning to rot. I pick the best specimens available and hope they make it.Solution: Just store them in the drive-thru warehouse area that you all have. It's such a better place to store those items.If I see changes come next year, I will certainly change this review to a 5-Star. Don't let me down DHG!

Vicki Davinich: Love this place-- so many wonderful things to buy. 208 is household items, Polish pottery, high end cookware. The big barn is all about plants, any kind of garden need, backyard furniture, wild bird seeds and feeders. Good selection of hearty outerwear and pet supplies.

Haleh Olsen: One of our most favorite places downtown. Genuine and warm team of DT H&G makes you feel at home at each visit. They have it all and the best part is that they are super pet friendly. They even have a free snack station and clean water for the pups.

Jane Doe: Racial profiling.I came in to the outdoor store today with rollerblades over my shoulder. The two women at the counter stared after me as I went to check out the store. They immediately called “would you like to put your skates at the desk??”I at first thought they were being nice, but the expressions of judgement and hesitance told me otherwise. They both looked me up & down, then at each other with expressions of anxiety. They did not welcome me. I believe they simply wanted a way to prevent me from leaving without seeing them first.I asked where to find pots, and they referred me to the store over, again with wary expressions.I regret spending money at their sister-store, don’t go here.

Edward Dunne: They have an excellent selection of things for the home gardener: tools, pots, soil, etc. Also lots for people who feed birds. The "home" side of the business has lots for the kitchen or dining room. A small, but good selection of tools for the chef, including a few lines of pots and pans. They are well-known for their Polish pottery.

David Berger: Dexter Mill is a wonderful place! It’s not just for farmers who buy in bulk. If you’re seeking a way to save big on bird food, then this is for you. I personally buy 50lb bags of whole and cracked corn and mix them with a bag of sunflower hearts and peanuts. WOW!!! Do I attract birds. My Facebook page has more than 4,000 nature photos to prove it… Anyway, Dexter Mill also has plants, fertilizer and many other things you may need. By the way, the folks who work there are amazingly nice and knowledgeable. These folks are among the hardest working people I know. Please shop at Dexter Mill whenever possible…
