Afshan Najafi: I went to Totoro back in 2016 when I used to live in Ann Arbor, then in 2019, and then again just a few days ago in April 2023. I should say the quality of the food has remained the same! I absolutely love their sushi rolls, they are one of the reasons I go back to visit Ann Arbor, and absolutely meet all my expectations. The miso soup is also delicious. My partner ordered the sushi tower and he loved it, he was so full afterwards! We went there for a family gathering but almost all the other tables were U of M students. I wish they opened up another location that is more quiet and family friendly, this one is really loud!

Sam Halloway: We stopped by here as we had heard it was the "best Sushi in Ann Arbor". We've tried a lot of the sushi in Ann Arbor and wanted to see if this placed lived up to the hype.We arrived and were seated promptly. We ordered our dishes and found that they took quite a while to arrive, about 30-45 minutes. I understand that it was very busy so I am not too upset about it, however it took about 25 minutes just to get our miso.For an appetizer, we ordered the takoyaki. For $7.50, we got four small takoyaki with hardly any octopus inside them. They tasted good, but most other places around here give you 6-8 takoyaki for about the same price range. It was disappointing to have the dish brought out after waiting a half hour only to see it was such a small amount.For our dinner, we ordered the eel tempura roll and the Spider roll, along with a chicken teriyaki bento. The eel tempura roll wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better at other places in A2. The spider roll was WAYY too big. Sushi is all about the perfect bite, and it was hard to fit an entire piece of the Spider roll in your mouth. The large size also meant there was a lot of seaweed in each bite, meaning there was a significant bitterness to each piece. If the pieces were smaller, there wouldn't have been a problem.The bento was pretty good. The California roll was good (though kinda hard to mess that up lol), and the chicken teriyaki wasn't bad. I would say that the chicken probably needs to be marinated to incorporate the flavor more. Tempura was good as well, and the rest of the bento was satisfactory.Overall, we probably won't come out of our way to come back to Totoro, but maybe if we were in the area and wanted sushi, we would go, or if we were invited, we would go. Otherwise there are better places in Ann Arbor and the Ypsilanti area. We appreciated the Tonari no Totoro theme, as we are both Ghibli fans, and the staff were very kind and prompt.

Jennifer France: Normally I would’ve giving this restaurant 4 stars because we have always liked Miki, but last night we had a terrible experience with 2 of their employees that made us decide we won’t be going back anytime soon. They were middle-aged employees (I only give that detail to distinguish them from all the young college-age servers so that the manager/owner knows who I am referring to): a man who greets people and takes them to their table, and a woman who I think was making drinks in the alcove near the kitchen. The greeter seemed normal until I asked for a 2nd menu when he seated us because he only gave us 1. The main menu has the full list of food and drinks; they also give you a separate menu, flyer, and order sheet specifically for sushi - I just wanted another main menu. He became very annoyed and asked me why I couldn’t just wait for my husband to finish reading it and then he picked up a little sign on the table that had a QR code on it and told me to use my phone to pull up the menu; he exclaimed that he’d have to give me “6 more menus” - referring to the sushi menus (that we weren’t using and didn’t ask for). While he was saying all of this, I was looking at a stack of 20+ menus at the host stand! Fortunately our server witnessed his little tantrum and just walked over to the stand, got a menu, and gave it to me. (Extra points for her!)The 2nd incident occurred when I went to use the women’s restroom. There are 2 stalls: 1 was occupied and the other was empty; a woman waiting in line explained that it didn’t have any toilet paper. So I left, found a server and asked him if he could find someone to put some TP in the restroom. He asked the older woman who was standing near the kitchen (but not actually doing anything at that moment) if she could get some TP. The fact that I was standing there made it obvious that a customer was requesting it. Her response was that she would “get to it in 10 minutes” and walked away. Mind you, she didn’t know whether 1 or both stalls were out of TP, but she wasn’t going to do anything about it for 10 minutes! Fortunately I found a little cart in the hallway that had miscellaneous supplies on it, including one of those big industrial size rolls of TP so I swiped it and took it to the restroom. Absolutely ridiculous response on her part.The only saving grace of the evening was that our server was wonderful and attentive. She got an extra big tip. The other two employees should be reprimanded - if they continue treating customers that way, Miki is going to lose more customers.

Phil B.: Live locally and visit Ann Arbor a couple times a month and I'm upset I haven't visited sooner. Long time fan of Sushi when I traveled around the US and several visits to Japan. I was very impressed with the quality of the food! We had one of the "boats" and every item was perfect. Sushi Rice can vary and is really an important part of the dish. Miki has it absolutely perfect. As you can see in the picture, there's quite a good variety in this boat. Would definitely recommend and will visit again!

They had raw onions which was a weird combo with the rest of the ingredients. Probably not worth the price with the amount of competition with better food around. However, the sushi is fresh and good, just remember to get the sashimi and not the rolls cause the amount of fish difference for the price is huge. The miso soup was closing in on the salty side, but was okay. The staff was very kind and service was very quick.

Dian Jiao: Very bad experience, as an Asian I found their sushi and udon noodles very inauthentic, the rice in the sushi was not sticky at all, there was no garnish of any sauce but the fish itself did not have a very fresh flavor to make the sushi tasty. Also, we waited over 50 minutes (actual time) and ended up being automatically charged 18% tips of our bill. In fact they didn't serve much and even needed to be greeted by us before ordering and paying the bill.

Morgan Shatz: Subpar. The high reviews don't match the food. The take away didn't come with soy sauce. The rolls were uneven in shape and small for the price. The rice wasn't great quality either. With so many options in Ann Arbor, I doubt I'll be back.

Amy Ekblad: Best sushi in town. food is always beautifully presented and delicious. Never been disappointed. Staff is super nice and always make you feel welcome. Love the Salsa roll and Bulgogi is delicious. but never tried one yet that I’ve regretted. Highly recommend.

Chris Lao: Solid online order system and great flavor as long as you add a few of the sauces to your burrito. Always been happy with the freshness of the fish (although maybe don't get the spicy salmon as it can be a bit aromatic) but the fresh tuna & salmon have consistently been a hit for me!

Eddie Smith: Five stars across the board. We've ordered takeout from here a few times, and each time it was easy to place our order, all of our items were correct in the order, the food was absolutely delicious and prepared exactly as described and ordered, and the service was kind and caring. Given how reasonable the prices are, I would highly recommend giving them a try the next time you're in the mood for sushi or poke.Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options are available.

Joseph Fang: My friends and I have been going here for years now and they've been consistently good throughout. The fish and everything else is fresh every time, and the portion to price ratio is great - you have a lot of choices for add-ons at no extra charge, even stuff like crab salad. Hands down the best poke place I've been to in Michigan even after all this time. 10/10 would recommend.

Zachary Graham: Great food.The poke here is as good as overseas.The seating is standard cafe style. There's a mural on the wall in pseudo block-print style. Not really my thing but it doesn't clash.When I went most of the other patrons were doing take-out. I suggest doing the same.

Caleigh Crossman: I am not lying when I say this is my favorite place in all of Michigan. I have had so many different poke places and this one definitely is one of the top. Obviously you have to make you own bowl starting with sushi rice as the base. Double marinated tuna as your protein is 100% the way to go. For toppings I religiously get cucumbers, edamame, ginger, marinated onions, seaweed salad, and TONS of crispy onions on top. For sauces I love to get the spicy mayo and poke special sauce. Right when you thought it couldn’t get any better, they also offer hibachi bowls for all your fish hating friends. The teriyaki chicken and steak hibachi bowl with fried rice and veggies and yum yum sauce on top is to die for. When I go to poke fish I typically get a poke bowl (or two) and a hibachi bowl because it’s that good!!

Sunny Xu: Extremely warm and nice owners and workers. The food was amazing and the service was above and beyond! This is in my opinion, the best restaurant in all of Ann Arbor and I highly recommend coming here.
