avis payton: I will never ever rent from Budget as long as I'm alive. I am a customer who never hardly rent cars. I received the car on 3/4 of a tank, then brought the car back a little in 3/4 of a tank and they charged me $99.00. I was really hurt because they never explained that to me by this being my first time. So be careful and read the fine print because they made a killing off me but I guarantee you, they will never ever do I again....from a very upset customer.
Jasmine Lewis: Budget over charge me. My flight time to leave was 7:50 am, I returned the car at 4:30 am. They said I returned the car at 9:00am. Getting over on people sure they do this often. I was on the plane by then half way home. What happened is whoever processes the cars then get to it till 9:00am. Now I have to go through bs to get my money.
Shelby Slater: The interior of the vehicle was moderately clean, however, the exterior was a disaster. There was egg shells and egg residue along the drivers side extending from roof to door bottom, the front was encrusted with bug guts and the car (black in color) was left for me in this condition. Even after taking it to a car wash, a good amount of the grime remained. The car was reserved in well enough time to have it thoroughly cleaned before my arrival.

It was a "floater" with a FL license plate.While the outside was washed, the inside was dirty. It was late and at night, so I couldn't tell at the time. Also, I saw in the morning that the interior windows hadn't been cleaned and the dashboard was dusty.The oil change light after my first day driving. I called the DTW airport Budget, but it kept bouncing to the 1-800 number. That receptionist said there was nothing she could do and to take the car back. I wasn't going to take it back and then hear they had nothing available.You guys were good until this.

Gary Libby: Dirtiest vehicle I have ever picked up at a car rental business (to include 3rd world countries). There were bug guts all over the windshield/front grill, countless food crumbs and drink spills on the interior, and months worth of dust caked up on the front dash. It would have taken over 30 minutes to an hour to switch into another vehicle and we were on a time crunch...so we just had to deal with it... after this experience, I will never do business with Budget again...they should be embarrassed by that level of neglect.

Since it was already after midnight and I had already waited over a half hour to get the car, I was told I could go back in or note it on the out ticket. I chose to note it and go on. The worse part was being charged $60 for gasoline when I filled it up at the airport car return exit. This was in Detroit so the gas station was less than five miles from the car rental return. I was told to leave the keys in the car and go on and then several hours later received the invoice showing a fueling charge. I will be disputing the charge and will not be renting from Budget again.The charge has been taken off “as a one time courtesy” but that does not change my opinion of this practice.

Craig Slaughter: The agent that handled us at the counter was very nice and helpful. It was just an extremely long time to wait to be seen. The car that we were provided was absolutely filthy inside. The car smelled so bad from what seemed like a previous smoker that my mother had to wear a mask. I wiped down every surface with Clorox wipes and sprayed air fresheners on the carpet. We kept the windows open overnight and the smell didn’t abate. Finally, I checked the in cabin air filter to discover that it was completely caked with dirt. Truly unacceptable. I bought a new in cabin air filter and replaced it and that helped significantly, but not completely.

Mohammad Dabajeh: Worst rental place ever. First told me they would bring me a mclaren then last second said no. Then told me they have a lambo coming before my prom date and called me a week before and said it's not coming at all. Then the night before prom I had already paid in a week advance for a Ferrari and they called and told me they lost the key 5 days ago and can't give me the car. If the key was lost 5 days ago why give me a notice a night before? Does this make sense? Then when I went the next morning for the refund, the lady was mature and had nothing to do with it but they took an hour to give me my money back and even the owner was in the building and wouldn't come talk to us while the guy Ali was telling the lady on the phone to ignore us and help the next customer thinking we didn't hear him. This place is a 0 star in my opinion. Is this even a business?Replying to your response:I actually came 9:50 and waited for your employees which came at 10:15 which is late since you guys open at 10. Your manager Ali told her to ignore us until he comes which is unprofessional and he didn’t show up. She went upstairs and got your signature which means you were there. We waited an hour and never got our refund until we kept asking and took a check instead. I also asked the lady if I could take the Aston Martin instead she told me no it’s booked you can ask the two men in the back that clean and detail the cars who heard everything. You also tried to charge me $1,750 for the corvette which is $299 on turo. Stop lying to make yourself look good. Disgusting owner and business.

On the day of our sons prom, they called to inform us that the vehicle we were renting wasn’t available because of the previous renter, but they were going to do all they could to fix the situation. And they did!!! Although we didn’t get what we originally rented, God put them in a position to pull one off even better. You ever pulled up to your prom sendoff for a photo shoot in an orange Slingshot and then a car change, similar to an outfit change, drive to the prom in a Silver Ferrari? Our son did!!!! She said it would show up the bill but eventually not be charged. When reading the bill (as last time) it was charged. This seems to me as an unfair practice. I won't sign for any 'free' car upgrade; ever.
Martin Davies: This was the best rental car experience I’ve had ever. Getting online reservations was simple and the follow through from Avis was more than I expected. As usual…it would be cool if they could expedite the receiving process a little better however, it was pretty good! The car I got was a slight upgrade from what I had reserved (no body will ever complain about that) and the return was the easiest and most streamlined you could ever ask for. The lot attendants were the best!!

It needed servicing, the indication showed up all the time, oil change needed, vehicle wasn't clean, had some trash, empty bottles, used napkins. Apparently this was the only vehicle assigned to me. Carolyn Earl: I made a rental agreement thru Priceline on my Discover card and it was accepted. However when I got to the TPA rental desk they said they did not accept Discover card. I’m from another state and that was the only card I had with me. They said if I would have read the fine print on the paperwork I would have known. I read the agreement and it said they take all major cards. I called corporate and they said the fine, fine print says it’s their discretion to change their policies. What a rip-off and a horrible upsetting inconvenience. I reported them to Priceline and the BBB. Don’t use this rental company.
Edward Dye: Beware of this company. They will not honor your reservation. My flight was delay one day due to the recent snow storms. I spoke to the Pensacola agent in advance and explained that I would be a day late. She said no problem, we will see you tomorrow. I arrived and was told I don't have a reservation and need to book one. Now the price went from $20 a day to $110 but "they would help me out" by only charging $60 (triple the quoted rate!). I called their corporate line and was told my original quote, the one that the local branch said didn't exist, was $110 a day and not $20. I told her that $110 is the total price, not daily price. She said I was wrong that she was looking at it. Well see my attached copy and you will see I was NOT wrong. By the way the local agent said "my economy car" was not available so I had to pay for the mid-size car upgrade. You will see that my quote was for a mid-size car, not an "economy car".
David Boyd: What a joke! I made reservations for a midsize car, told the guy there was 4 of us and kid in car seat. Gave me a quote for $168 out the door. Get in town, go get the car was 250 and they gave me a hamster car. I go back in, told the guy I had reservations for a midsize car, they wanted to charge more. The price I paid for the hamster mobile, was higher than the the other rentals for a true midsize car. Place is a joke shop around dont go there. I gave this review over 6months ago, and u are just now getting back to me, and I did not get an suv I got a Kia soul.

Matthew Jennings: Probably the worst rental experience we've ever had. They required proof of insurance & proof of deductible before they will let you rent, all in an attempt to take their additional coverage. They claim to only run shuttles every 30 minutes, but it actually took over an hour to get picked up from the DTW terminal. We had to Uber back after drop-off because waiting on the shuttle wasn't worth risking a missed flight. Don't think I'm exaggerating because they told us it could take anywhere from "1 1/2 to 2 hours" to get a shuttle to the airport. By the time you pay for an Uber and all the wasted time, it's definitely better and probably cheaper to rent somewhere else.

Daniel O'Hara: Counter girl was rude on arrival. Outside lady was very helpful. Car dirty on the inside and dented and scraped up on the outside. Parking sensors went off constantly and became rather expected, in traffic stopped at a light. On the return the male attendant was fantastic and helpful.

Be wary of renting here because you run the risk of not getting a vehicle when you think you have one and having taken a one way shuttle to get there, your only option is to walk endlessly through a sea of rental companies hoping that someone will help you. Will never rent here again, wish I could give zero stars.

miss jay: They would not let me leave the lot even though I did not get the car I was in from there, and it was due to auto renew later that day. I have no control over when hertz/uber decides to process renewal and they are not able to process in the location and yet I still was not able to leave it took over 2 hours to get figured out so I could leave the hertz lot. They should really have something in place for this, knowing that Uber drivers pick up and drop off regularly, and many of them rent cars.
RJR Photography: Pre-trip reservation was easy. Used AAA for discount. Reservations confirmed by email. Called to verify night before travel just to be sure. Shuttle from airport was quick and easy. Only 4 people in line before me. Three people at the desk made check-in fast. Being a busy weekend, the car class that I selected was overbooked. Hertz upgraded me at no extra charge. I was given the option of 5 different vehicles. The only concern I had was the mileage of the vehicle at check-out (at the gate) was over 5000 less than the odometer. I called to notify them. I was told that it was not a problem since the actual mileage was recorded and logged when the vehicle was last returned. This is another reason why it is always a good idea to take photos at pick-up and drop off. After 5 days with the vehicle, I took it back to Hertz. I was greeted by an agent who receives returns. She too assured me not to worry about the mileage difference. A quick check of the vehicle and I was directed to the waiting spot for the shuttle back to the airport. Thank you Hertz DTW for making my rental experience with you very positive!
Adam Chojnacki: What a nightmare. The checkout is difficult to find. They sent us to get our car, and the wrong vehicle was in the spot. They sent us to a second vehicle, and it had a giant bolt stuck in the tire. The third car had to be brought up from the area where they clean the cars. But as they say, third times, a charm. It felt like a total waste of our time when we were in a hurry to get somewhere that morning.

G A: Are they still in business? Hertz has the worst service almost everywhere, take it from a HERTZ PLATNUM member, I don't even know why I am still renting with them. The staff is mean, unprofessional and they ask weird and personal questions, its even scarry. Oh, and they have the worst app and website to workout your rent.

Alex Ayers: This is the second time I have had to stop at the service counter as a Hertz Gold member. This is frustrating because the agent tells me they have no idea why I have to check in at the counter and it adds at least 15 mins to my rental pickup.
Ainsley Detwiler: The transit driver (shuttle to and from airport) in the small shuttle was extremely rude on 5/14 at around 1:30PM. Unhelpful and short tempered. The payment I was quoted through Delta ended up being over $200 when we checked into our reservation. The vehicle we received was older. We did not choose the economy option - just midsized sedan to ensure a newer, smooth running vehicle. The upgrade is NOT worth it since they'll just give you an economy vehicle anyway. Overall the customer service was less than helpful and rude, and the price of the quality of vehicle is NOT worth it. Go somewhere else - there are plenty of better options near DTW.
CJ jackson: Hertz employees need to go back to school elementary or middle school because they don't know the basics of the United States and what States are actually States. What are your hiring requirements?
Eagle Beak: On my final bill I was charged for damage to the vehicle. I returned the vehicle in the same condition as I found it and did not damage it. Hertz provided zero proof that any damage was done to the vehicle. I made multiple attempts to contact this office, but their phone redirects to corporate. Coporate promised to email me to start resolving the issue but never did. In the 10 years I've been renting cars I've never been accused of damaging a vehicle. This was my first and last time renting from Hertz.
Dimitri Papakyriacou: 2hr+ wait to get car in line due to internet down all day and no contingency plan! The Gold counter empty and refuses to help the huge non-Gold line to check people! A case study in incompetent customer service.

John Sutherland: Rented a car from Hertz at DTW recently and had a pretty good experience. The rental process was smooth, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The car I got was clean and well-maintained.The only downside was a slight wait at the counter due to a busy time, but that's understandable. Overall, 4 stars, would recommend Hertz at DTW for a reliable rental car experience!

Tammy Graham: I love this company they are understanding of people's urgent need to rent a car, customer service great very professional,then the bonus they give you nice update cars/ trucks,I wouldn't rent with nobody else but enterprise, then here's another bonus 3 min's or less in line, yes my company.

Car (full size tahoe) was dirty and bugs on windshield etc. Looks like I got it when returned. After leaving the rental yard. A strong odor of weed which was very disappointing due to having people in my car that are in recovery not a good environment. Was not able to shuttle people which is why I rented a fullsize vehicle

Matthew H: Our first flight was delayed arriving to DTW and as a result we missed our connecting flight. Traveling with my wife and 1 year old we were rebooked on a flight that was scheduled to leave 11 hours later!!!!! Unable to book exactly what we needed online we took the shuttle to the Enterprise location. Jacob and his team saw that this was not a good situation to be in for a family with a toddler and they went to work. Being able to think outside of the box and knowing his inventory Jacob was able to find a solution that allowed us to arrive home 7 hours before our rebooked flight was SCHEDULED to depart. This Enterprise location truly cares about customer service and has the empathy to prove it. Thank you Jacob and team!
