Vernice Brown - Griffin: I was asked to come and be an Adjunct Instructor in Clinic and it has been an amazing road for the past 2 years. The faculty and staff, dean and students, have really made a great impression on me. I am glad that I was able to make the move back to Detroit, Michigan, after being away for 30 years. The college is always striving to make the facility better with patient care areas to equipment. My personal favorite has to be the areas of digital scanning, CBCT, digital designing, and 3D printing. The Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry is all about making sure the students graduate with well formed knowledge and skills. These students are our future. They are trained to care for our families and friends here in the city, state, and all across the country and beyond. And to my family and friends, I recommend that you try it out for yourself.
Sofia: This is the worst school ever! The students don't know what they're doing they ruined my teeth I had to keep going back to get redone. They Never respond. Then they disqualified me for no reason And kept my money in my account. I'd advise anyone Not to go there!

GT Earns: Dishonest liars! I was 100% clear on what product I wanted on the phone to make my appointment then on my 1st visit also. The student resident Dr said that the student Drs couldn't do a single wing Maryland Bridge and that I'd have to see a faculty Dr. I was 100% clear with the faculty doctors assistant about the type of restoration I wanted also. When Dr Fard saw me, he tried talking me out of a single wing Maryland Bridge and into getting a two winged Maryland Bridge because it'd be stronger and more likely not to fail. I refused and he he changed me $80 for the visit and I told him that you could have told me no on the phone and saved me the money. He then said that he didn't know I wanted a single wing Maryland Bridge ahead of time which is a 100% lie! His assistant told him because I discussed it with her before he saw me and she briefed him. There are no doors so I heard him asking her questions about my case.
Leia Johnson: Would not recommend… the students are nice but this place is terrible. I got my wisdom tooth extracted Nov 2nd because I was having tooth pain due to be being broken. One of the residents did the procedure and student helped. They went over very little post op details with me. And did not tell me that I would be in unbearable pain. After the numbness wore off that day I started feeling terrible pain.. I figured I was just sore and iced and took OTC Pain meds. The next day at night I started feeling shooting pains in my jaw & ear and I was taking pain meds every 3 hrs and the pain was still there. I decided to call the on call doctor. She insured me I was just sore and that I did not have a dry socket I was just sore from the procedure. The next two day I experienced more pain. I called on call residents and once again she told me i didn’t have a dry socket and I would be really in pain as if she could tell my pain over the phone. I went to the hospital thinking I had an ear infection because the pain was so bad. They ensured me it was a dry socket and gave me antibiotics and told me to call dentist. I called on call and told her what hospital said and she once again argued that it wasn’t a dry socket. After being in pain for a week I finally went in to oral surgeon (7 days post op) and sure enough it is a dry socket! I explained my pain to private practice dentist and they all said it sounded like dry socket but the on call here kept telling me what I was describing wasn’t a dry socket. Please do not go here. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life.
Alyssa NM: I'm happy the students get to learn on a real person but 3 to 6 separate appointments just for a teeth cleaning is absurd. What's worse is it's going to take about a MONTH (first appt on 10/26, cleaning on 11/23) to actually get the cleaning. I have healthy teeth and just wanted an annual exam at low cost, but I'm paying for it with my time. Will not be returning and I won't suggest this place if you just want a quick in and out.

Buckly Novak: REVIEW OF THE ORTHODONTICS DEPARTMENT:JOE, the “manager” continues to manage the department to the ground. His staff leaves because they can’t even stand working with him. He always operates on misinformation while also providing patients/customers with misinformation. He harasses the customers. My doctor notified the department months in advance of her permanently leaving. She has now left and the department will not accommodate/schedule her patients until POSSIBLY 3 months later… how do you expect patients to not be seen for consistent orthodontics treatment for 3 months? Apparently they’re not reaching out to these patients to inform them of what’s going on. Instead, they (Joe) is telling us patients that we are scheduled and when you call the office, they say that there is not an appointment in the books. If you want to schedule an appointment, they say the schedule won’t open until August or September. Absolutely unacceptable, extremely poor management, and planning.

Leah Kozlow: I have had braces through U of D once, took 3 years altogether and I only had braces on for less than a year. they then told me I need implants, it’s been 3 years and still don’t have them and need to get braces again because the permanent retainer broke and shifted my teeth. Terrible service on the phone IF they answer your call. The younger lady is extremely rude and not helpful.

Sandra Brown: Will not be going back here. They didn’t set the expectation correctly of what would happen after a wisdom tooth extraction. I expected the hole to be closed to where nothing gets caught in it and cause it to hurt especially after 6 months of tooth extraction and set another appointment for them to check it out because things kept getting caught in the hole (rice, nuts, anything small really) . A Blonde resident with blue eyes basically came in and got an attitude at me cause she said the hole was as closed as it was going to get and that would always happen… but 3 months post from that appointment it is now closed on its own and nothing gets caught in it… I believe pre- and post op they could’ve caused me less pain if they provided better care. Pre op they said they’d numb me and “gave me max amount of numbing” but didn’t tell me that even with being numbed I’d still feel the pain.. and post op she wasn’t honest about me not being fully healed when I should’ve been. If you gone lie to my face the least thing you can do is smile when you do it.. it was no reason the resident should’ve had a attitude (maybe she thought it was a “silly” appointment”) but the reality is that I’m a concerned patient and my care was in your hands and you failed.. DONT GO HERE.

Hayam sh: I had an amazing experience with the whole team and specifically with Rafaella and Madison during my teeth cleaning and the wisdom tooth extraction which was done by Rafaella. She was very professional and nice. The experience was almost painless. She did a great job, even better than some expensive dentists I visited to extract my other wisdom teeth. I also need to thank Madison her assistant/team partner which did an amazing job too with cleaning and fillings. I wish both of them the best and thank you for your amazing work. :)
Joya Bailey: Lol, Dr. George cut my mouth UP! And don’t even let me mention how he called me the incorrect gender with NO remorse once so ever. Today I got a wisdom teeth removal and they did NOT tell me any precautions to take as I prepped for the procedure. A receptionist called me at 8am when my appointment was at 1pm telling me everything to do as if it wasn’t too late if I had already did it. Then, I asked if something specific was going to be covered by my insurance and I was lead on to believe that everything was worked out for me, but when I got there, not only was things not worked out, but they wanted me to pay 150 upfront… And then when I decided to go with another treatment, they gave me an absolute run around, making us start about 1 to 2 hours late (and I still had to pay). It is a sometimey situation when it comes to the receptionists as well. They are sometimes rude, but sometimes can come off as very helpful. But either way it goes, when you think they are being helpful, there isn’t much they truly want to do for you and their attitudes reflect that.

Brandi J: Been in ER waiting for about 12 hours now! Got here about 230p, had some tests about 5p. Nurse hasn't checked on me, I'm in a cold room with the bed right under a vent so I had to come sit outside the room in a chair. No nurse has come to check on me. Everytime I ask someone they tell me to wait. I have no bed bit they say their admitting me. It is now 3a...and I'm still sitting in this hard chair. I haven't had food, and feel like I'm about to pass out.

Nurse Amila had a terrible attitude and laugh when I was crying because I couldn’t see my great auntie that had just had two brain surgeries because I work 8a5p and my job is an hour from the hospital I made it five mins before tried to call Amila to see my auntie for two mins and she completely disregarded me. Laughed and joked say you work everyday as if my auntie couldn’t pass away at any moment. She laugh with another nursing saying omg this girl crying . I was admitted to the hospital for a possible Heart Attack, and I was extremely disappointed with the care I received.Firstly, I was made to wait in a chair in the hallway for an extended period of time before being moved to a bed in an empty wing of the hospital. I understand that hospitals can be busy, but this was unacceptable and unprofessional. I felt neglected and ignored by the staff, who seemed to have no concern for my well-being.Once I was moved to the bed, I lay there for three hours without any communication from a nurse or doctor. I found this experience distressing and unacceptable. It is unacceptable to leave a patient alone for such an extended period without any updates or check-ins.After three hours of waiting, I decided to leave the hospital. I was shocked that nobody had noticed my absence until I reached the exit door, where I was stopped and instructed to write a formal complaint.The level of service I received from your hospital was unethical and unacceptable. As a patient, I deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and professionalism. I felt that my care was not a priority to your staff, and this is unacceptable.I would also like to mention that I sought medical attention at a different hospital shortly after leaving yours. There, it was found that my blood pressure was at a critical level, which was alarming and concerning. Sparkle Mason: I wish I could rate this a triple 0! The absolute worst staff ever! The nurse that tended to me upon being brought to the ER by the police immediately treated me under the assumption that I don’t deserve a sanitized room or water or care that is due for a patient in my state. I was battered and bruised. She was rude and placed me in a room with a bed with blood still on it from the original person didn’t bother to come and clean it until over an hour and a half. When I spoke up about it again she had the worst attitude and wiped the bed down with a rag and bleach swinging the rag which was not squeezed out; contaminated bleach swung on me. When she gave me a shot of toridal for pain she didn’t even wipe with alcohol swob or put a bandage on it. So I’m bleeding and the officer had to put a bandage on me. She was all types of liability. I told them I have diabetes she didn’t care she said my levels are good. They weren’t… I was dizzy and dehydrated. Didn’t ask what type I had or cared. I would never willingly go to this hospital.

Kathy: As a physician assistant I am appalled at the customer service I received in the ER waiting to see my elderly aunt who was being treated. Virtually impossible to get back through the doors to see her. I have sent many patients thru this ER. I will definitely rethink any future referrals.Update: the security guards were fantastic and once I got through to see my aunt, the nurses were quite helpful.

His health was already at risk and you tend to forget to follow up with everything going on with your loved one. This will definitely be the last visit to this facility. I'm very disappointed. Nicholas Van Orton: They need to make a negative star option!! Absolutely disgusting how this “hospital” is still even in business with how poorly they treat their patients. The nurses and doctors are a complete joke, and were very unprofessional and didn’t even do their job, and that’s what they’re getting paid to do!! I went in with a family member and saw a number of patients on beds in the halls being ignored by the nurses every time a patient asked for something. They were talking very poorly (and very loudly while using expletives) about certain patients and just acted like doing their job was such an inconvenience. So I made my family member leave because they didn’t feel safe there and I drove them over an hour away to go to Henry Ford because at least I know that hospital has actual doctors and nurses that want to help people. And I trust that hospital and knew my loved one would be taken care of.

Patricia Quaglia: The dental hygienist was great. All the staff including the dentist were very nice. This is what I thought three years ago on my first visit until they did an exam and said I needed 8 fillings. 8!?! They said all this stuff I needed to stop doing to get so many cavities. I even bought an electric flosser and electric tooth brush. Since then I’ve been going to another dentist and haven’t been using my flosser. After they did my exams, I didn’t need fillings there and it’s been 3 years. Detroit dental specialist even dropped the ball on giving me my cleaning once. I came there to get a cleaning and they forgot so I ended up not getting my teeth cleaned that day. You wait hours and hours to get seen. I think they just want money so they pile more cavities on you then you really have. Be aware!

K J: Came in for a consultation and xrays to see about braces (got none of these by the way). The doctor said "I think someone else would be a better fit for you because I don't think he could handle what I want to do" based on how my son (7yo) didn't like the feeling of the chair going up. He didn't even try to help or give any guidance. Just walked in and threw us away. Then gave me some referrals for specialist he thought would be a good fit, but if they are anything like him (Mason Haddow), I have to decline. Rejection is God's protection.
Caprice Dennis: I had an appointment scheduled at 8:00am, for them not to even open up until 8:30am. Wasn’t seen until approximately 9 am and was told I’d have to wait until about 10:30am for the orthodontist to get in and complete my appointment by doing my fill-ins. Awful experience!

Get my X-ray certification. I drove from Jackson Michigan every Sunday and it was 110% worth it. Before i ended the program i was already starting a new job with almost double the pay. I am very grateful for the instructors michelle and Kelly for helping me through everything!

Hawra Al: At the start of this program I was very nervous and scared but there is absolutely no reason to be. The instructors, Michele and Kelly, are so knowledgeable in this line of work and prepare you very well, the program is hard since you basically have to absorb all that information in such a short amount of time, but the instructors are there for you every step of the way, but you have to be willing to put in effort as well. The hands on rotations are very helpful and an internship is provided in the same building right below the floor of where we typically are set up for lecture. I would 100% recommend this program to anyone looking to become a dental assistant or just use it to help jump start your future career.

Taking this class has taught me a lot from the class lectures and hands on clinical also with the help of the dentist office below. So much information to learn, but everything starts to make sense as the program goes on. Hands on clinical is great! As well as the internship. Would recommend this program to anyone! But you need to be prepared to work hard.
Beginner Beauty: This is a great school, Michele and Kelly are awsome instuctors that truly want you to succeed. The class however is not easy you have to put in the work, but the hands on experience will help you to succeed and be ready to beome a Dental Assistant. Both instructors know what they are doing and are willing to literally hold your hand through each process. If you really want to be a dental assistant,and are willing to put in the work this is the class for you.
Tommy Li: Let me start off by telling you guys that this is the best dental assistant school in Michigan. Michelle and Kelly are fantastic teachers. They make the class fun and enjoyable even though we have so much materials to learn. Hands down they will help you until you understand the material.!

I Love the two girls that work in the front part and the young ladies that work in the back they so real and cut it to you real that's why I love them they straight to the point and got me together but girlfriend in the back was on my case about keeping my mouth clean lol 🙄🙄🙄 but that's what I be needing tough love 😘😘
Jerrica Jackson-Bailey: My husband and I both attended the dentist here and we both experienced tooth sensitivity after our visits. They don’t have a parking lot for the clients but that wasn’t too much of a big deal so I didn’t fuss about it. During my visit the doctor said “Oh!” while he was drilling my tooth and then stopped. The assistant asked what was wrong and what happened he said nothing and sat there for a moment looking which freaked me out. Then he told me he decided to just do a regular filling which I said was fine, but after the visit I could no longer eat on the right side of my mouth because it hurt whenever I bit down on something or ate something hot or cold, so I went to a different dentist because I was afraid to go back to him after this experience. I was then told I had a bruised nerve in my tooth and that my bite was also high/off where he did the filling which was causing the tooth sensitivity. They smoothed the filling out and it feels a bit better but they told me the nerve will take a few weeks to heal itself.
Racheal Roberson: You know those commercials when you actually cry because your teeth looks so good and in this case that was the case. They did an amazing job on my dentures I'm still crying there are days when I know where things get a little bit overwhelming for them and they have more people there than they can handle but give them a try cuz they are very well worth the wait a very satisfied customer. Reckless Behavior: Worst place ever the staff had problems with there manners. The dentist wanted to keep trying to give me crowns. He did a fill in and less than 1 mouth it moved I went back and he wanted me to pay out of pocket like it was my fault...never again will I go back..I will just so I can post his name..I don't remember it..

Den-Nela: Livernois dental care is very unprofessional. They keep canceling my appointments claiming I did not confirm. They sent me an email stating i needed to confirm and i did and received a thank you for confirming. After confirming I received a text confirming my appointment for different times . Silly me i didnt pay attention to the fact that the appointments where scheduled for 4am didn't really matter because i planned on call seeing that my original appointments were scheduled for 1pm. I was told i should have known my appointments were cancelled because it said 4am. This is incompetents at it best. There was no reason for my appointments to be canceled in the first place. And what business chose a time they are close to tell patients their appointments have been canceled?

Angel Price: I went into Great Expressions today to get a temporary crown put on a tooth in the back of my mouth that I had a root canal on. The ladies that work the front were absolutely wonderful and so nice and helpful. The dentist on the other hand was very rude and unprofessional. As I stated the tooth that was being worked on is in the back of my mouth. I don’t have a very big mouth so as you could imagine, it was extremely uncomfortable and painful for me to have him doing this procedure. As he’s working on the tooth I start to cry because it felt like the corners of my mouth were being ripped open, which they were. The dentist stops and says “I can’t do this is you’re going to cry.” I tell him that it’s painful and that I can’t help that I’m crying. He tells me again that he’s not doing it if I’m going to cry and asked me what we’re going to do. I tell him to just do it. He starts again and again I start to cry so he stops again and he says that basically I’m either going to get comfortable with it or I’m going to have to go somewhere else. So I tell him I’ll take a referral to another dentist. He finishes what he was doing and walks out the room without saying a word. He may be uncomfortable with people crying but I was uncomfortable with his hand in my mouth ripping open the corners of my mouth. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a dentist. I will never go back to this Great Expressions location ever again and I don’t recommend anyone else does either. I have never felt so small for crying because I was in pain. I wasn’t making a scene or anything, tears were just rolling down my face. I don’t see what the big deal was. I was the one with the hand in my mouth.

Shelby at the front desk is also great! The problem I have is I have been trying to get a crown out on for my implant for months. And the lab or whoever they send the impression to just can’t get it right. I have had several appointments some they canceled some I’ve went to but no success in fitting the crown. I’ve spent a lot of money and time with no results. I’m very disappointed and angry at this point.

As a new patient, Sajid Baqai the doctor did not entreat me and was very rude, I did not feel welcomed. He refused to go over my x -rays and he provided me information with no clarity and vague responses. He did a rushed service and looked only on the right side of my mouth for 30seconds and said “You’re all set”. I responded “Really”. So I was not interested for him to continue because of his unwillingness. He’s not a great representative for the Great Expression Corporation, he needs to be removed. For any new patient, I would not recommend him to anyone.
