Detroit City Club Apartments: what do users think?
JJ: $175 to park a month! Holy smokes! Advertise that in big fat letters somewhere. Rich kids only property. Also I just called asking for move in prices for four months away, $1275 for a one bedroom “but it might go up before august.” Sorry besties get your information together. Nobody is gonna fall for your bait and switch “it’s $1275 now but we’ll raise it to $1500 before august”
Emily Wilson: Pros:-amazing location-you are in the heart of the downtown and the views are stunning-I think at one point it was a very nice place to live but the lack of staff and support for that staff made it rough to live withI have always loved where I lived and take the good with the bad but this place burned us bad. I’m sure it was once really special and well run but carefully consider before renting here. Really hoping this review is irrelevant soon and it improves!Cons:-lots of Air BnB rooms so it feels like living in a hotel and tourist clog up the elevators on weekends/during busy times-elevators were broken almost the whole year we were there (2021-2022) The day we moved out the freight elevator was acting up and at any given time 1-2 elevators of 4 would be down, making wait times very long-found out 9 months in the entire maintenance staff had been fired for negligence which explained why none of our tickets were answered despite weekly visits to the office-filthy property: the hallways had trash despite housekeeping being on the premises all the time, the elevator frames had missing metal, tenants very disrespectful to property-office staff was polite to your face but did nothing to help. The first property manager left a few months after we moved in and that’s when things started to turn.-fire alarms went off at any time of the night so frequently we just stopped going down-random units would be left open/unlocked and that felt really unsafe-laundry room was filthy, ceiling leaked, and half the time the dryers didn’t work even after you submitted tickets for them to be repairedOverall, what you pay to live here is more than what it was worth to deal with the negatives. This place was an awesome location and that was enjoyable but the constant frustration of waiting for the elevators, bringing people over and being embarrassed by the trash, and the indifference of the staff makes this my least favorite spot I’ve lived. I really hope they turn things around because it has a lot of potential to be what it sounds like the older reviews say.
Kenny Ezevillo: Look, this apartment is not the best thing since sliced bread. It's an old building - a few of the four elevators break down often, mild flooding has been an issue a few times and there are several false fire alarms. The pool has been under construction for some time now which is quite annoying. Lately, the hot water hasn't been so hot.But it is absolutely livable. The actual unit itself is very spacious with hard wood floors, very thick walls (you almost never hear your neighbors). Walk-in closets, great views of the city from most apartments. Extremely nice and friendly staff. All of the problems with this building usually happen once you step out of your apartment - but they can be quite sporadic and in 90% of cases are nothing more than a mild inconvenience. You get what you pay for, they say.I think the price and location make this a fairly good deal. You can absolutely find better downtown but you will pay significantly more. And you can find better at a similar price point further out, but you will have to drive.
Jonathan Paez: Stayed here via Airbnb and it was amazing. Great views and close to everything
Mark Schultz: Amazing place for Detroit, view is amazing
Alayna Ohneck: I’ve lived here 4 years- Elevators are constantly down. I’m paying for city view but the windows with screens are so dirty I can’t see out. New managers and rent increases every year. Washer and dryers don’t work.Update 3/4/23Beware: Most of the 5 starts reviews do not live in this building. Currently there are only about 40 units with actual residents. The rest are empty or Airbnb (a problem in itself). There was a mass exit of neighbors recently (a bunch that were in litigation with the property do to conditions who can not leave a review for legal reasons.)For $1700 a month when we moved in it was worth it. But now paying $2220 plus parking $175 a month- nah. Also the utility rates go by your square footage and then split between residents (this makes it hard to predict or control. If you’re willing to layer up in the winter to keep cost down it doesn’t mean your neighbor isn’t cranking their heat all the way up. Plus this leaves room for property to just make up a number cause you never really get a full breakdown). There are nicer/newer places at this rate. We are leaving at the end of lease.
Bryan Jones: the absolute most disgusting place I've ever lived. I've never been so upset with a company before in my life. trash all around.
James Sobolewski: Pros:The apartments themselves are very nice and modern and the location is unbeatable. Comparatively cheaper rent for large apartments downtown. Maintenance staff and leasing staff are very friendly and try to help the best they can with the issues which are ultimately likely not in their control, rather in the owners and higher management.Cons:Where to begin…if you love being woken up in the night by false fire alarms this is the place for you. So far 4 times this month. Elevators are constantly not working (“waiting for a part” for several months for one of them, constant issues with other three). Lobby smells like trash. General lack of maintenance and care for the rest of building. Always promises that things will be improved and fixes done, but more talk than action, always seems to be “out of our control” or someone else’s fault. No proactive communication to residents about the known issues. I would say if you are being promised something regarding building maintenance as a new tenant, beware and remember actions speak louder than words.Edit 1/28:They left heat off in a vacant unit over Christmas, and a bunch of units flooded. We were without power and heat for 4 days with no compensation, of course Management blames DTE, but it was their equipment which was flooded due to their negligence.Adding a pic of the loading dock...its been like this since that flood and getting worse every time I go look. Ask yourself, do you want to haul your stuff through that mess?
Matthew Loupee: Bad building, bad staff, bad environment. Fighting to get back security deposit after leaving the apartment immaculate.
Kyle Walsh: A ripoffI think it is a very good thing that in the middle of an international pandemic as well as flu season that management does not provide sanitation wipes for the public gym area. I am sure that is not a health and safety violation and no one will get sick.I was told in a reply to this message a month ago that sanitation wipes would be readily available and restocked, I am yet to see it. Not once. If they are getting stolen there is a dispenser that can be locked in there to hold them.
Harold “Macman” Mack: I used their parking garage. That is all, didn't goiknside
Justin Thyme: Never got my deposit back, nor any follow-up after I moved out. I've called and left messages and e-mailed to no avail. Would not reccomended this apartment with the amount of problems that persisted my entire lease.Edit; it took til October 30th to receive a partial deposit. Reduced for additional utilities dated two weeks past our move-out, cool 👍Y'all can keep that extra $100 because you clearly need it more than us. The two floors worth of airbnbs aren't enough, eh?
Angel Phillips: The apartments are nice but maintenance did not show my whole stay and we put multiple requests in. The day we moved in the apartment was unfinished and they never came back to finish it. I moved out in July of this year and Im still struggling to receive my security deposit back. And its November.
Julia Young: Absolutely horrible experience living here. The alarm system is faulty and there are false fire alarms several times a month - 13 instances since I moved in less than 6 months ago. The elevators are constantly down, and there are long wait times. The lobby smells like trash. Drawers and doors within the apartment do not fit properly on the hinges and frames and break regularly. Windows are dirty, and several screens are broken or missing. Hallways on the residential levels are dirty and outdated. Management is unresponsive and there is high turnover. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Queen VictoriaG. The Queen from EAMTradio: Excellent and Beautiful placeto live and visit!! Everyone isvery nice and friendly.. The viewis amazing and everything isin walking distance to everythingDowntown "Detroit"...Check out my view from P1...
William Pfafflin: Other than the location this apartment is terrible. Elevators never work, false fire alarms multiple times a week, decided to not open pool for the summer and refunded a measly $75 for it, gym is outdated, management is terrible. The list goes on, don't rent at this place unless you love walking flights of stairs unexpectedly.
Morgan Harrison: This is literally the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. The elevators are an immense safety hazard. They had gone through 5 property managers in the year that I lived there and for good reason. I never in my life withheld rent but I had to with the lack of safety within this building. After leaving I had to fight tooth and nail for MONTHS to get my security deposit and then they tried to withhold a portion after the allotted 30 days to return the money was up. (They cannot keep any portion of your security deposit if they do not return it within 30 days.) Anyone writing a review in favor of this apartment is doing it because of an incentive program or because they like the sales associate. Anyone who is looking to move here, I deeply encourage you to look up the resident Facebook group. “Club Residents of Detroit” you should really see what you are getting yourself into.
Charles Pusey Mcnish: Apartamentos para quedarse y pasar un buen rato además descansar
Ariana Marble: I was really impressed by the building and staff during my visit. The apartment looked great and you can tell they've put in a lot of work. Love it!
Kyle Van Camp: This community is wonderful. Inviting staff, lovely apartments, and being a baseball fan, nothing beats being so close to the sports arenas!
Danielle Fracassa: The staff here are awesome, and so helpful! The apartments are beautiful too, and it's so great to be like right in the heart of the city.

The Griswold: what do users think?
Brendan M Brogan: Chantal and Terrell make the place a home. As do the neighbors under Colleen’s command at the Park Rite in the building below. If life were fair, these folks would all get a raise.
Matthew Spickler: Lived in the Griswold for 5 years. Truly enjoyed my experience. Chantal and Terrell took great care of the building and tenants. Air conditioning was always great.
Kirby Mendola: Chantal was very easy to work with and I didn't have any significant issues with the building throughout my stay. I just had a significant challenge getting my security deposit back and corporate was not responsive to my inquiries which made it very difficult.
Kiara Phelps: Management is great, apartment is great. However, the elevators never work. I live on the lowest floor possible (11), and hiking up the stairs is BRUTAL.
Alyssa Wright: Chantal and Terrell went above and beyond to make my 2 years at the Griswold such a great experience. They were both so professional and kind, and they will do anything to make their residents feel at home!
Liz Moore: My husband and I have lived at the Griswold for 2 years and it has been the best experience. Great location, convenient parking, spacious units, and lots of natural light. Awesome views if you can get a higher floor. Chantal and Terrell truly care about the residents - they have been incredibly helpful, responsive, and dedicated to resident safety/happiness. Highly recommend to anyone looking to live downtown Detroit!
Aunna Pourang: Chantal and Tyrell are awesome and super professional, kind and accommodating. They have been super responsive and helpful. The apt and building are beautiful with great views of downtown Detroit. In a great area with nice restaurants and shops. I am moving back to Detroit in a year and have already been asking about how I can lease an apt at The Griswold ASAP!
Marisa Menna: CHANTEL was amazing!! I currently live in the Griswold and have zero complaints about the property and management. It feels like home and a great location! Very pleased 10000/10 :)
James Jurecki: Chantal and Tyrell were wonderful to work with! It was an incredible 1.5 yrs. living there and highly recommend anyone looking to enjoy the Downtown Detroit lifestyle to call Chantal immediately.
Daniel Lentz: I'm from Farmington Hills originally and left Detroit for 13 years. Upon returning back to Michigan, I couldn't resist living downtown for 12 months to soak in how cool the city has become. The building and atmosphere were amazing but the staff of Chantal and Tyrell were what made The Griswold feel like home. They handled everything inside of the building and were beyond responsive and caring. You could tell they both were invested in the well-being of their tenants and their actions proved it. If I didn't have to grow up, I'd never leave.
Amir Jabalameli: have lived at the Griswold for about a year!Great experience from beginning to end!-- The apartments are less than 2-3 years old and all the appliances are almost new,- - Great location and nice views,-- You barely hear noises in your apt,-- Maintenance Requests are handled pretty quick,-- Common areas are always clean,-- Management and staff were responsive and nice,-- Never had issues with the elevators. There’s literally nothing to complain about!
Zack McDermott: If you like a building with one elevator from the parking garage, and enjoy being forced to walk up flights of stairs after it breaks, then this is the building for you.
Roni Leibovitch: Griswold and Michigan Ave is a highly underrated corner within the spokes of Detroit pavement. Enjoy a Europeanesque Capitol Park to your north, or a century-old rivalry to your south vis-a-vis American v Lafayette.

Henry Ford Hospital Apartments: what do users think?
Melinda Kennard: Not being from Detroit and not knowing the city very well. This place was perfect for our needs. Just a walk to the hospital. It was good to have a working kitchen with dishes and pans. A dishwasher. Full size refrigerator and stove. The one bedroom we had, had plenty of room. The parking lot right next to the building was convenient. Secure entry into the building. Having a laundry room inside the building was very helpful. The staff were all very kind and understanding. Happy to answer any questions you may have and happy to help with anything you many need. I was able to extend my stay as some medical complications had happen and we needed to be there longer then we had expected. It is not shinny and new but very clean and does what it is suppose to do. I would highly recommend.
Kimberly Ferraiuolo: Rosemary is truly an angel. She thought of everything I might need while my family was going through a very difficult time when my daughter was in the ICU. Apartments were very clean, well-appointed, and I always felt very safe here. Laundry facilities were clean and machines worked well. This lodging is exactly what you need when you can't think of anything except the care of your loved one. Thank you, Rosemary, from the bottom of my heart!
Laura Campbell: I spent almost 3 months in this building. It was a lifesaver for me. It is not state of the art, but that is not necessary, nor the purpose. It is meant to help the family of patients, and staff, temporarily. It was clean, good price It did exactly what it is intended to do.
Video Bedford: It was decent. No bugs, heat and hot water was fine.
C. Jones: Beforehand I couldn't find any pictures,so I came in baffled by the state of the apartment! Which was terrible, unclean and Very outdated. Ceiling was popcorn and falling apart. Beds were not appearing to be in a state of worth sleeping on. Bathroom was dirty and the whole apartment was stagnant and foul smelling, also had to get a serious wipe down with the wipes I had on hand. I couldn't find another hotel in the day of my reservation without paying crazy so unfortunately I I had no choice but to stay. Asked for a clean blanket to put over the couch, which me and my 17yr old daughter had to share because we we're Definitely not getting in those beds. Had a procedure the next morning and I was I'll prepared because of my lodging prior. Staff did their best and we're very Friendly and the only Good thing about this "apartment"! Definitely will not return.
Vicki McMartin: Bring space heaters, that's all I can say. I was there as a patient in the beginning of October and the rooms are NOT heated. My husband was cold enough to go down to the parking garage, get in his car, start the car, get heat on and sleep in his car all night just to get warm. I was having surgery the next day and did not have that option. But I can say I was having 2nd thoughts about the procedure itself, but i was so cold and shivering so badly I could not speak or think. But heating isa facilities matter. The staff there is better than excellent and go well above and beyond their duties to make sure you know where everything is.

The Plaza: what do users think?
Laura Long: Hello I do not live thereBut I was coming out of Give Thanks Bakery and ran into a lady that lives in that building with Mountain 🐕, She wss so noce,
Beshayer Al Haroon: I stayed at The Plaza for one year for an internship and I must say it was the best apartment I’ve ever stayed at since coming to the US four years ago. Everything is well maintained and feels brand new. Management is top-notch (Deidra is a sweetheart!) and maintenance is always available to help. I couldn’t have asked for a better apartment and I’m truly sad to leave!!
Robert Gregory: Go ahead and add The Plaza to your short list of apartment buildings to check out in Detroit.I lived in The Plaza for two years, and it was by far my favorite residential building in the city. To start, the units are quite large and are all newly renovated with near floor to ceiling windows and great storage. The views, are truly the best in the city (I had a southwest corner unit). If you have pets, this is the ideal building for you; as The Plaza has it's own on-premise dog park just steps from the door. There is a great sense of community at The Plaza and the management team is amazing. Deidra, Mike, and Lucias are the best in the business and always around to help with whatever you might need during your time there. I would recommend The Plaza to anyone looking for a place Downtown/Midtown.
Jessica Steven: I lived in The Plaza for 2 years and it was the best renting experience I've had. I've lived in a number of apartment buildings all over the state and country. Management was very good about communicating with the residents. The property manager, Diedra, was very helpful and accommodating. The apartments were spacious with ample storage space, which is often hard to come by. The views are incredible too! I appreciated that each unit had its own thermostat and that they were relatively sound proof. My only regret is that the windows didn't open. While living there, I felt a strong sense of community with my neighbors. Everyone was very friendly. Having the on-lot dog park was a major bonus and allowed for opportunities to meet others. Management also arranged for quarterly get-togethers which were always a lot of fun!
Prajna Acharya: The best apartments i have lived in with huge windows, amazing sky line views and the management is top notch !

Town Residences: what do users think?
Arii B: Matt is great , always on time . Gets the job done no problem (:
Sandy Lawhorn: I can NOT express the love I have for the management team here at Town Residence. Greg and his team are by far the best management team I've had EVER❤️ They go above and beyond. This is a great place to live. I have recommended them to my family and friends. Great job Greg and your team!!!! I am so glad to be apart of this community.
Lindsay Alyssa: New management as of 2023 is awesome! They fixed our lingering lack of hot water issue fast! They’re very friendly and make sure that the building is clean
Jad Hamdan: Moved in Q4 of last year and have only seen the place continue to improve:1. New management team is fantastic, approachable, and super responsive.2. A couple maintenance requests were taken care of in less than 24hrs.3. Doug, the afternoon/evening front desk team member is an absolute joy.4. The cleaning schedule occurrances have increased from what I can tell.5. Elevators are being worked on, and will hopefully be done soon. 🤞
Emma Johnson: This is my first apartment in Detroit! It has been a great place to live! Since VG has taken over there has been so many improvements very quickly! Appliances are nice and work great! Rooms are great, not extremely spacious but if you set the room up correctly you will have plenty of room! Closet is very spacious which is great. I have always felt safe on this property. Great views! Maintenance always responds in a timely manner and gets the job done! Fire alarms do go off every now and then but this issue has gotten better. Elevators have never been an issue for me! Doug at the front desk is just the best! Very personable and just a great person! Community laundry room is sometimes a pain but once you figure out the best time to go to do your laundry its not a problem at all! Package system is very safe and I have never had any problems. All the residents here are extremely nice. Amenities are nice too, 24/7 gym and rooftop patio which you cannot beat! Great view and my favorite thing to show off whenever I have visitors. For the prices here you really cannot beat it!
Mathieu AJ: Despite providing a letter confirming my current employment, the rental office rejected my application. They required a job offer letter and demanded 4 paychecks, even though I had just started the job. Surprisingly, they didn't ask for a bank statement showing my ability to pay rent. I offered to pay six months upfront, but they refused, claiming it would be unfair to other applicants and residents. Instead, they asked me to find a guarantor. After seeking advice from friends who are contractors and a lawyer, I discovered that the office was being prejudiced. In the end, I found a new place at a higher rate but was accepted for a 12-month lease using the same documents. This demonstrates that Town Residences was discriminatory in their treatment of my application.
Aaron Jones: Best place to live in the heart of Detroit! Always friendly staff. Maintenance is quick to respond and repair efficiently. The regular, day concierge is absolutely an amazing guy. I would be sad the day he leaves! He makes our day!
Darrien Barton: As a resident for 3 years, I have seen this building go through many changes. The current management has really done a terrific job at giving Towne Residence a facelift!Greg is reasonably accommodating and a pleasure to see and interact with everyday. Talia and Ashley are excellent additions to the front office team, and have shown support and understanding in times that Ive needed it.There are pros and cons to any and everything in life, with that said I truly appreciate my home at Towne Residence and am happy to be a resident.
Andrew Clark: I liked town residences for the most part. Its a really good deal for the location. The rooms are small, but its the price you pay for such a prime location.People complain about the fire alarms, but I appreciated that they were working and would alert residents of potential issues. There were some small issues when I got there, but there a new property manager James and he seems very competent. The staff is very friendly and there are lots of amenities like washers/dryers that can be via credit card, gym and lounge. Overall not to bad.Downsides are, the elevators were broken frequently, but one was always up.EDIT: I also got by security deposit back!!!
Jalnisha McCurtis: I just moved in not too long ago and the new manager has been so helpful the whole team actually I just love it here. any problems I ever had they fixed them and I appreciate them so much. I’m so happy I moved here.
odessa murphy: Do not move to this place 😒 They do not fix anything. I have complained about my sink leaking and not being installed properly since I moved here in November 22 and it still has not been fixed! They have attempted to fix (rig) the sink 2-3 times and today I am woke up by a huge boom and the sink had caved in and the pipes and screws are all apart. No one should be forced to live this way especially paying the amount we pay for rent. Although the apartment had changed management companies the same incompetent handy men still work for the apartment. Here is an update on my sink. My sink had finally been installed and updated properly. So far I have not had any problems . Once I showed management the picture of the sink I posted here it was fixed with in hours. The new management team definitely got my issue resolved. Updating rating to 3 stars.
Sarah Ahmad: Matt the maintenance supervisor really does the job fast and 100% accurate. He is also very professional and really cares about his tenants. Thank you
Megan Q.: the new building manager is approachable and very nice. Doug, the night desk staff, is the best. He's a great face to come home to every night. The view of the city is something I will miss along with the big windows that let in a lot of light. The apartment, itself, was nice. Nice floors, nice appliances, cupboards, and lots of closet space. The bathroom was nice and easy to keep clean. It felt like a 5-star hotel. Moved because I had to be closer to work. The construction has lessened over the past year. One of the elevators is still on the frits, but if you don't want to wait, you can ask to use the freight elevator, and they will usually let you. If you are moving in or out you can also use the freight elevator. I used it for big bulky furniture and if you park in the back it makes things a lot easier.
Vyas Shenoy: Good view. Needs some maintenance
Team DdubbMusic: I Don’t Even Know Where To Start I Still Haven’t Gotten My Deposit
y b: 9/10/22See you in court!8/28/22At this point, it is clear that the residents and the safety and concerns of the residents is not a priority to Rock Companies (management agent) as well as Triton Investment Company (owner). Therefore, the residents will take action to make it clear that changes/improvements must occur immediately! Stay tuned.8/20/22Sadly, Town Residences remains an unsafe and unpleasant place to live. This is due to the fact that there is a resident who is allowed to continue to run an after hours club out of their penthouse apartment, even after numerous complaints from residents. The general public is loitering outside of the building which now resembles a flop house. There is a person who is either legitimately armed security or posing as legitimate armed security. If the person has been hired by property management, then all residents should have been informed. If not hired by property management, then it is a liability issue because the person is armed! However, that being said, if this resident is allowed to continue to use the residential building as a public space, then it becomes a legal issue as well as a liability issue and a law enforcement issue for all of the residents in the building.July 2022Unfortunately, Town Residences has become an unpleasant and unsafe place to live. A resident who lives on the penthouse floor is running an after hours club out of their apartment. Every weekend the general public is allowed to come into the building to go to the "after hours club." The public is wandering throughout the building. The fire department has been called several times to get people trapped in the elevator. Management has been informed and has done nothing about it!It appears that Rock Companies is using the building as a training ground for those with little to no experience in property management. The turnover rate is very high.
Mr Moor: CAUTION!!!! Don’t move here first of all I would like to start by saying this was by far the best 250 dollar deposit I’ve ever spent these people have made a crusader out of me, My deposit was scammed from me the property manager and staff are at best incompetent and by the way business is being conducted this place is doomed… Please read and take heed to all these reviews they are accurate and informative if you are looking for affordable prices and reasonable accommodations look elsewhere this place has to many flaws to list I will be following up on my reviews as well as informing the public about Town Residents please stay away from here and stay tuned!!!!!!
Adriana Nunez: Went for a tour & had a great experience. The one thing I liked the most was how convenient the location is. Nearby campus martius, cork town, & southwest Detroit. Thank you to Talia for giving me the information needed & great tour. She was friendly, courteous, & very knowledgeable.
100 WiresEnt: It’s a no for me with the new manager James
Ouie louie studios: The new manager James seems shady and wants to fine residents because the capacity on the elevator says “2,000lbs” but breaks down if there’s more than 5 people on it. How about FIX the problem instead of blaming it on tenants.
