Genesis School of Music: what do users think?
jOEL HOWTON: Greatest place on Earth
Marcus B.: I called and left a message for my son's piano teacher, Mr. Joel (I hope I got that right) to inquire about my son's schedule and to purchase another practice book for him. I have yet to receive a call back. I met my son's teacher once, I explained my situation, I live out of state, and it appeared that he understood. I'm hoping this was a small oversight on their part because when I am in town and I have my son, i would not like him to miss any scheduled lessons. My son's mother, unfortunately, would rather my son miss his lesson than have me bring him.
Troy Green: Love this school!! !!!brother joel has work with my children on the piano and guitar and they are awesome. I recommend any one who wants to learn piano, guitar, singing what ever come to Genesis school of music.
NTG Tv: I can sing like Beyonce now. I could always singing but they helped me find my inner voice.

Libby Kanouse Roop: Music Authority has been great! I’m an adult student and was reluctant to start lessons at this point, but my instructor has been flexible, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. GROSSE POINTE MUSIC ACADEMY: what do users think?
Nicole Phillips: Excellent staff. Easy to make appointment for sessions. Clean & warm environment.
Juanita Allen: Piano lessons for my GrandSun, Quince Jr.
Sweet ViolaChick: Great place to work at as a teacher, and wonderful atmosphere for clients of all ages to learn. The owner is awesome, and staff here at the front desk are exceptionally accommodating in every situation. I highly recommend working here and/or getting music lessons!
Vincent Riegler: Friendly people are here
Carrie A.F. Nantais: Our boys starting taking lessons via Zoom in October 2020 due to COVID and we have had the best experience with our teacher, Ms. Haley! She has been patient, engaging and able to give quality instruction. We are likely going to stay with this format for a while because it is so convenient. In addition, the communication with staff at the school has been great -- quick, responsive and helpful. Highly recommend GP Music Academy!
Jeffrey Stine: We are long time customers an could not imagine going anywhere else. Professional, friendly and just an all around excellent environment for music education.
Georgetta Bond: Awesome staff. My daughter LOVES and looks forward to her piano lesson each week.
Ashish Ahlawat: I’d like to share a very pleasant experience with the academy. I go to the location in Grosse Pointe. First, I want to start by saying how talented and what a wonderful teacher and a coach Cheryl is. I believe, that I have improved ten fold ( that is, including my peers) since I’ve started taking lessons with her. Second, Kala, the desk manager Is also exceptionally good at handling every possible situation I’ve dealt with the academy. Last, but not the least, after have been attending the academy for a while, I had run into a little hiccup with some other person at the reception, to which the owner of the academy was not only very understanding, but also very accommodating and generous with handling the situation. I’d like thank all of you for making this a wonderful experience. And please keep up the great work! 👍🏼
Boch Suson: My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
Kaltrina Lleshaj: I take my girls for Piano lessons and my son for Drum lessons. Their teachers are so nice and patient. Grosse Pointe music Academy is an amazing place to take your children music lessons. Everyone is so nice and helpful with everything. Love this place and I highly recommend it.
Jennifer Perry: Wonderful place and the teachers are kind and patient, highly recommend. My sons look forward to their lessons every week!
Matthew Nickel: This is really comfortable place to learn music. Great people, nice environment, and they have music together for young children. Just love it. Look out for the meters in front during the day though, the city issues tickets a little too easily. I know the music studio has asked the city to be gentle on their clients.
Evyeni Geno Keramaris (Geno Has Something To Say): I absolutely love teaching here. A great environment for both kids and adults. Our desk girl/secretary Kala is absolutely awesome. Our owner Henry is a very kind and good man. I am proud to teach here and highly recommend all of our staff to work with you or your kids. The efficiency with which both Henry and Kala manage to run this place is unprecedented.
Brynn Jezdimir: My family has had a wonderful experience with the hummingbird music together class. My children 2 &1 have a new appreciation for beats and love going to class. I would recommend for all ages!!!
Scott: For all guitar repairs. A big shout out to Dave (Master Luthier at GP Music Academy). Dave has worked on several of my guitars and I have been impressed with the consistent quality of his work. Most recently, I had a guitar that was unplayable. Dave turned it into one of my favorites.
Christina Partalis: My 10-month old daughter, Gabriella, loves her Music Together classes! We listen to the CDs at home and in the car so she's familiar with the music when we're in class. It's amazing how she recognizes the songs and dances to the beat! Thank you, Miss Sarah and Miss Emily! :)
Barika Butler: GPMA, Music Together and Ms Sarah have been WONDERFUL!!!! My daughter LOVES Ms Sarah and her energy! She asks about her all the time and is always excited to go to class. She has been through 5 sessions now and always is eager to return. She has developed amazing rhythm and loves exploring a number of musical instruments. I am confident that Music Together has had a lot to do with this love for music and making music. I hope to continue our relationship with the classes for years to come.
Stephanie Witte: Attending Music Together with my son has been such an amazing experience, and continues to be something we look forward to each semester. We started attending class when he was 8 months old and within weeks his love for music and dance was abundantly clear. I have no doubt in my mind that these classes are cultivating a real passion for music and rhythm in him that may not have developed quite the way it is without Music Together. It has created so many lasting memories for our family, both in class and out, as it has encouraged us to incorporate singing, dancing, playing instruments and general fun into our daily lives with music. I can't recommend this program enough!
Melissa Keagle: We participated in the Big Kid Music Together class and it allowed our daughter to enter the world of music with confidence. Through experiencing concepts such as tempo, rhythm, and improvisation, the class helped prepare her for the structure and skills needed for piano playing. The introduction to music concepts was key, but it also opened the door to the creative output of making music. She now very much enjoys playing piano and making music her own.
Jennifer Baranski: We had my daughter's 7th birthday at GPMA earlier this month and it was a blast!!!! The kids had so much fun, learning rhythm and trying out all the instruments. Toepher and Dave were great instructors and helpful throughout the entire party. My friends and family loved it and said how creative and fun it was. I would highly recommend GPMA as an option for a birthday event. And, piano lessons may be in my daughter's future at GPMA! Great place and very inspiring!
Vanessa Dietderich: My daughter is taking voice lessons through the GPMA with De'Sean. I have absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say about him and the entire staff. After my daughter leaves her lesson she is enthusiastic to practice and improve but more importantly her confidence in herself and her progress is bolstered which is no doubt due to the superior teaching style of her instructor. I have seen first hand the other instructors styles and lessons as well and can with confidence say they are all true professionals with a passion for teaching and the ability to connect with students.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music®: what do users think?
Ananda Ami: in love.I been going here for almost 2 months and it just feels so familiar and new and exciting every visit. I have improved in my vocals so much thanks to my teacher Sherry! she's so enthusiastic, kind, passionate, and educated on her crafts. I am someone with HUGE anxiety but I am telling you coming here you will not feel that sense. I've already improved so much it's honestly scary. Sad that it's once a week and 30 minute sessions but that's totally acceptable and appropriate but it's honestly so dope you'd wanna be here 24/7 cause you learn and have fun at the same time. Covid-19 protocols are in place and safe staff are vaccinated and wear masks. While singing with Sherry we both maintain distance as much as possible and wear clear face shields they have plenty provided as well due to being able to see vocal technique and to hear clearly) so that is not a worry. Not to mention it is a clean space and is affordable for families. I love it here3
Ed Hopkins: This state-of-the-art facility is efficiently and professionally run and maintained, and all current health and safety guidelines are well in place and practiced. It's a work space that any artist and technician can walk into with confidence, and know that whatever the goal at hand is, be it lessons or recording sessions, the outcome is bound to be successful.
Donnie Kellerman: I've been a local on & off gigging musician for 35 yrs & didn't know this place ever existed!! I'm glad it's here!!!
Shane Barry: If you're thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you're looking to get into music.
Adam Bowden: Best place in town for rehearsal space! Their studio is top notch!
Mirror Image: We love the DSRP!!! My boys have excelled so much since they began taking lessons and joined a band 3 years ago. We drive an hour each week from Grosse Ile and it is definitely worth it!
Anthony Lupone: DSRP is the musical ‘glue’ of Royal Oak! Both my kids have been taking lessons for years with Julie and Steve and both are awesome. They have a knack for sneaky teaching, making the kids better while they don’t even know it! When my son came home and asked to listen to and play Rolling Stones tunes, I knew we were at the right palace. Thanks DSRP for all the cool stuff you do!
Megan Mccarthy: My son has been going to the Detroit School of Rock and Pop since he was 7 years old. He is now a senior in high school and an incredible musician and singer as a result of the amazing jobsHis teachers and mentors did at DSRP.His band has played all over the city and he’s experienced live broadcasts and wonderful events full of interesting people. The support he received through this program not only helped him grow artistically, but as a person as well. Shout out to Julie, Rocco, Jason, and Sherry for helping to guide Cole in his musical career. He has loved every minute of it and we have too.God bless this awesome school!!!
Mike Glaza: Absolutely the best around! Jason, Sherry, Mike, and all the mentors at DSRP are fantastic. Our son started with their Summer Rocks! summer camp in 8th grade and continued with lessons until graduating from High School. The time and attention that he received from DSRP is invaluable, and Jason even helped us apply for aid from the Live The Music Foundation to assist us in keeping his lessons going when we couldn't afford it on our own. Today, he is pursuing a career as a professional musician and has many opportunities open to him thanks in large part to the training, mentoring, and connections he received at DSRP.I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you Jason, Sherry, Mike and everyone at DSRP! You all rock!
Mikey Kimball: I have personally played gigs with many teenagers who came out of this program and they play like professionals, with top-notch proficiency and excellent attitudes! I recommend this place more than any other in the Metro Detroit area!

DIME Detroit (Detroit Institute of Music Education): what do users think?
DMK: We were there in Fall of 2019. Our hotel’s breakfast closed early so, we walked down the street to The Dime. There was a wait but it was well worth it. Great service, great food, cool atmosphere and friendly owners. Our family group of six were well treated and everyone enjoyed our food. The only drawback would be that it is not a very big place but they make up for it with charisma.
Denise Davis: I love Antea, and the fruit she produces. This is an incredible training ground for vocal and musically inclined individuals! God bless this institution!
Kevin Lewis: Went to open house with my daughter and was very impress with the culture. You can feel the excitement and love of music that the faculty have. Looking forward to my daughter attending this fine establishment.
Charlies Talent: This is the most amazing school for music that opened in Detroit. All equipment and facilities are brand new and top of the line teachers. Very impressed, I highly suggest a tour for any musician looking to learn or enhance their craft!

Dearborn School of Music: what do users think?
Gina G: Individual lessons are very productive. Beginners can start here with ease.
M E: My son took guitar lessons here from Dave. He absolutely loved it. Had to stop for school sports but can’t wait to return this fall!!! Highly recommend this place for any music lessons. Very nice and knowledgeable staff/teachers.
John Wick: I had one lesson and quit because the teacher kept asking me to do things she never taught me. She never told me what string was what on a violin so how could I play a A string of I don't know what it is. By the time I left I was so frustrated I didn't want to go back. I found a teacher on YouTube and it's going great.
Josephine Sheril Joseph: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueIt’s been a year now my son started going to DSOM for guitar classes. I am still not sure whether DSOM have assigned a well trained tutor for my son. No progress! No structured coaching! No consistent schedule! I think DSOM is leveraging their senior students to take classes for beginners and new comers.
DCHS Library: The piano and voice lessons are a key part of my daughter's education. She loves Miss Jessica!
P Stevenson: Very friendly and helpful staff.accomodating for scheduling and billing.excellent instructorsDave is welcoming even for an adult who is an absolute beginner
Erin Martinez: Dearborn School of Music provides a tremendous combination of instructors from a wide range of musical experience. The environment is welcoming a flexible to many learning styles.
Joseph Ellul: I was a little hesitant to start taking piano lessons again because it had been so long and because I was a little older than most of the other students. However, I felt immediately welcomed at the studio. All of the staff members are incredibly friendly and eager to help. The instructors are all very experienced and motivated to teach. I took lessons with Jan, who is a wonderful instructor. She was always friendly, adjusted her lessons to incorporate my learning style, and constantly challenged me to become a better piano player.
SEM Properties: I have been playing the piano since I was a kid, but I felt like I needed lessons to get back on track and to have an experienced musician help correct my mistakes. I've been taking lessons with Jan Buhr for over a year, and she is AMAZING!!! I feel so fortunate to have found her. I am dumbfounded by the depth of her knowledge of every aspect of the instrument, as well music theory. She is a gem, as is the wonderful little community that is the Dearborn School of Music :)Thank you!!Kara Cronkhite
Rachel Klingelhofer: My two children and I *all* take lessons here and it has been such a gift to our family. My daughter started with drums and my son with violin (though he has now switched to voice). Sitting there in the lobby each week and hearing students and their instructors learning and enjoying music, I was motivated to finally try guitar lessons, which I have always wanted to do. Now we all share this commitment to music... We play together at home, talk about our joys and frustrations with our instruments, and even performed together at the coffee house recital (a moment we'll all remember forever). The warm atmosphere at DSM and the way the instructors are understanding of kids, families, and the ebbs and flows of life has made it possible for a very busy family to find space for making music in their lives, and we are eternally grateful. If it had felt like the "factory" that other lessons can feel like, I'm not sure I ever would have felt motivated to try this with my children and stay committed to it. But it feels like joining a creative, supportive, friendly community. I can't believe we ever *weren't* doing this.
Jen Blackledge: Dave is a fantastic teacher and person. He is patient, flexible, and fun. As the owner of DSOM, he also puts together great events for his students where they can practice performing in front of family, friends, and the public (if they want to). We highly recommend him for lessons for kids and adults!
Melissa Kurtz: Dearborn School of Music is a great place for music education. Their staff are professional, friendly, and excellent teachers. I highly recommend DSM for music education.
Jessica Jagod: Our family has had a great experience with Miss Jan! She was our piano teacher for several years. Miss Jan taught us an appreciation for all differences kinds of music and opened our eyes to the beauty of art as well. She is incredibly talented and great with kids. We only stopped lessons because we moved away.
Louis Devaney: My daughter and I had a great time learning piano at Dearborn School of Music with Jan Buhr. Since neither of us had any experience with piano, we were able to take lessons together and progress at our own pace in a fun, low stress environment.
Nassrine S-H: My daughter has been with DSM for about 3 years. Mrs. Jan has been a wonderful piano teacher who takes the time and effort to guide my child with each strategy to be taught in playing the piano. My child is always excited and looks forward to every session with Mrs.Jane:) I love the DSM team😊
Philip G: Dave Petrie has made a great school for learning how play (for me guitar) instruments at any age. The school setting is comfortable, clean, friendly and safe. I’ve wanted to learn to play guitar for along time and with Dave’s instruction, tips and coaching I am playing at coffee shop recitals, something I never thought I’d be able to do. I like to add that all the music teachers at those coffee shop recitals are always helpful and encouraging even if you not their personal student. If you want to learn how to play guitar, piano or another type of instrument no matter what your age, I’d recommend Dearborn School of Music. DSM gets 5 out of 5 stars and 2 thumbs up from me.
Michelle Ullrich: The Dearborn School of Music is a staple in the community. The instructors are top notch. My children enjoy the relationships they have developed with their instructors. Their instructors truly invest in my children's lives. Thank you DSM for providing a high quality environment for my children to learn their musical instruments.
Katherine Holcomb: Great music school! I've been playing guitar for a couple years, and Dave really tailors the lessons to my style of learning and what I enjoy. Would highly recommend them.
Ryma Kadaf: Great place, my daughter is being taught how to play piano and violin. Staff and teachers are friendly
M J: A definite No if you're coming for vocal lessons. I feel like the whole experience was unprofessional. I get that it's hard to find good child care these days, but if I'm paying $20 for 30 mins, I expect to get every bit of those 30 mins. The vocal coach would have her baby and her young son during my daughters sessions. And even if the coach would have to step out (cut into the session), she wouldn't make up for it by Adding the minutes lost. The session is over when scheduled wether she became distracted to help another customer or whatever have you. But most importantly, my daughter did not learn a thing.Sorry, I hoped to stay here, the lady seemed very nice.. Just very distracted.
Dawn Esparza: Recommended. My 10 year old loves his piano lessons. Cozy and friendly environment.

The Detroit Violin Company (Berkley): what do users think?
JeremyCee: Every member of the team never ceases to amaze with their friendliness and vast knowledge of their products and services. They had the perfect solution for our daughter's adventurous interests.
Laurie Smith: The staff is very helpful friendly and knowledgeable.
Burt Lewand: Each time I have been here, the service has been great! I have purchased a violin and a viola from them, and each time they were very helpful and encouraged me to try every instrument in my price range. I felt like I got value for my money each time. I also want to throw in that when I bought my second instrument, I showed up after doing my house cleaning, wearing old clothes: not my best appearance. At no point did they seem to be pretentious or question my ability to afford an instrument worth a couple grand before accessories. I really think they are just good people.
Roger Smith: I've been to this store 3 times and every time they have exceeded my expectations. My gift-violin sounds like a soloists instrument now. They repaired my viola when A&R music said I should just buy a new one from them. And now they've set my cello bridge and changed the strings for free. Best Luthier this side of the state, I can PROMISE you that.
Heather Hernandez: My daughter needed a new violin bows and the staff was very friendly and helpful. She asked a lot of questions before letting my daughter try as many out as needed to find right fit.
Danielle Douglas: I’m grateful to have small music shops like DVC around. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wonderful space for private lessons and a solid network of teachers (shoutout to Brice). Highly recommend.
Always V: Initially my daughter did not want to play any instrument; Brice has been her ONLY cello instructor for 2 years! He is the "BEST" according to her, he is a GREAT and challenging instructor, not pushy but effective. As a parent, I am pleased with Brice's interaction with me, he communicates what is necessary and pertinent in a timely and courteous manner. He is Student Oriented, so I do not take up the lesson time. Your student will learn how to read the music, play the music, care for the cello and how to handle the cello. He teaches grade school up to adults, so sign up with Brice, he has a very professional but relaxed demeanor. My daughter would not be bothered with the cello, if it were not for Brice's approach and I appreciate that because it makes it all worth it!
Kimberly Bernreuter: The sales, instructional and repair staff here are helpful, skillful, professional and courteous. We have been happy with all of our experiences with DVC over the past 4 years. Brice Madden is an excellent and dedicated teacher. He has helped our daughter make great progress in her technique and has increased her confidence on the cello. She really enjoys her weekly lessons. Highly recommended!
Barbara Nagel: The staff at Detroit Violin Company is wonderful. We went in on a whim because my at-the-time fourth grader needed a couple of things for the cello we had just gotten. They asked him questions along with us to make him feel part of the conversation. They got us out with the things we needed and a few recommendations we requested pretty quickly without making us feel rushed.Shortly after, my son started taking lessons with Brice Madden and has been working with him ever since. He loves working with Mr. Madden. He has built so much confidence in his playing and music reading skills. My son says he likes how Mr. Madden teaches him different ways to play things.
Doug Smith: If you like violins, you will love this place.
The Alvarez Brothers: Amazing place to get violins, as well as other handmade string instruments. With some very fine quality as well as rental options. Come here for your string needs!
Ruth Hiner: Everyone there was kind and generous with their time and knowledge. I'll definitely be back.
Decarlo Perkins: Very knowledgable employees
Jana Pniewski: Tom is very helpful and knowledgeable. Got lots of good information as I transition to a new instrument.
Amy Decker: Awesome selection of violins! Great prices!
Joel Atallah: I came in with a custom built guitar that needed work on the pickups and with a neck glued on incorrectly. Tom was able to fix everything in a short time period and for a cost that was a fraction of what other companies were telling me. Best of all, he was enthusiastic and more than willing to take on the project. His passion is evident and it shows in the work that he was able to do to my guitar. Thank you so much! I seriously can't recommend this place enough for anyone. Go here.
Shadi Qrunfuleh: Great team there, very helpful and kind, place is lovely
Casandra Zehel: Went in for repair, as my local music store was going to send it here anyway. They could not have been nicer! Tom did my repair while I waited and the prices were reasonable. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you for a great and very impressive experience!
K Ham: Great service!
Rakhel Adamson: Best place for violin lessons in the metro Detroit area
Tabitha Scherphorn: So helpful. We love the knowledgeable staff. Purchase or rent an instrument. They have lessons available for very reasonable prices.

Ray Daniels House of Music: what do users think?
K M: I am a former student of Ray Daniels House of Music. I was in need of advancement and upgrading in gospel organ. Bro. Daniels and Bro. Glen worked with me for a couple of years and I am very pleased with the results. Have been ministering in music at various churches for many years. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to learn gospel piano or organ. You won't be disappointed.
