Deshon Applewhite: The food is good, but the owner needs to improve his people skills! He wants to run a restaurant with a skeleton crew and gets loud and angry with the employees and customers when he gets busy. He talks to patrons as if he is doing them a favor. I was chastised for asking him to add dessert to my dinner as I was paying for it. He yelled that I should have included the dessert when I called in my order, but his online menu doesn't mention dessert at all! This is the first establishment that discourages impulse purchases. Most places are happy to have you spend more money while there. I will go a half mile away and get the same thing without all the attitude!

W E: Tried for the first time at Midland County Fair. Food was decent but when I was handed my brisket sandwich I thought it was a joke. Walmart hamburger bun and barely any meat - $15 for a tiny sandwich and a lukewarm small side of mac and cheese. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - maybe they were trying to conserve food for the busy fair day, but come on.

The sauce has a small spice, just right for us.THE MAC & CHEESE Is real cheese and tons of flavor. Baked Beans with a hint of BBQ. Anthony Hardin: The brisket was ok, a 6 or 7 out of 10. I don't know if the large chunks of cream cheese in the salmon dip appetizer were intentional, but they resulted in some bites being fairly spicy while others were almost bland. I think I would have preferred a more homogeneous mix. The music was good, but quite loud for the number of people in the restaurant. We arrived at about 7:30- 8:00 on a Saturday evening. I would go again if invited, although I probably wouldn't plan a visit on my own.

J V: We drove in from Ontario, Canada to attend the Flint Firebirds game against Kitchener Rangers. It was fate that led us to Blackstone's! We had just registered for their Social Club before our trip after finding them online. Walking downtown from our hotel, the original restaurant we were going to was closed, and we saw the back entrance of Blackstone's and decided to go in.Wow, we were blown away. The atmosphere, the amazing smell of the food, the decor, everything had a great ambiance. We bellied up to the bar and met Zach, the bartender. What a fantastic representative to have at the bar. He was friendly, great service, and great recommendations. Then we met this amazing gentleman behind the bar. Had a great conversation, and it felt like we knew him forever - Jerrid. Turns out, Jerrid is the owner!!After everyone on our way telling us to stay away from Flint, Zach and Jerrid made our visit so memorable we are already planning our next trip back.Jerrid, we can not thank you enough for your kindness, generosity and hospitality, and for making us feel like family. We can not wait to come back for our next trip and spend some more time at the restaurant and bar!For everyone wondering - Flint is a fantastic city to visit. Though we were there for only a short time, we felt safe walking around, drinking the water, and eating the food. PLUS, Jerrid owns a really awesome speakeasy next door called X - you should check it out, you won't want to ever go anywhere else!!

The BBQ reflects the flavors and recipes of Alabama. The offerings are what you expect and hope to find at a good BBQ joint! The BBQ sauce is flavorful and barely tips toward the sweet sweet side of scale. It is delightful on the pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and ribes. The portions are filling. The side dishes are varied and tasty! My favorite sides are the baked beans and fried okra! They sell their own seasoning mixes for chicken and pork. They have homemade desserts. They have their Alabama "white sauce, as well for purchase.The restaurant is clean and brightly lit with several large windows. Note: they do not have a public restroom. The staff are efficient, friendly, and helpful!Maude's is located on Davison Rd. just east of Dort Highway. They have a location in Lapeer, which has been opened for about one year.I will be going back many times!

Just Me: Been eating here about once a month for the past year and a half or so. The last three orders though in the past 2 months...the sides have been horrible. Ken Gobart: Our first visit as we decided to try on 12/30/2022 and were very pleased with the Service & the food. The person at the counter, Ophelia was a delight to talk with and helped us with our food order. We ate in the restaurant as the seating area was very clean and felt invited. We had the Brisket dinner and 1/2 slab of rib dinner, both exceptional, meat fell off the bone and the brisket you could pull apart with a fork. Thanks for the great service, we will visit again.
