Gamer Mann: I don't understand how this has such good reviews for a restaurant that doesn't season their food
Hugh Williams: 04/13/2023 Westsider Café at 1180 Walker Ave, NW:Local breakfast gem. Not a chain. Great food. My favorite? The Polish Skillet. All superb staff, but ask for Nia. Generous portions. They haven’t wasted their money on an expensive, visible, exterior sign. It’s what is inside that counts. They excel at that. Eat local. Support local owners.
David Stults: We were amazed by and complimented our server on the fact that she took our order without writing anything down! We even asked her, how do you remember all this stuff? While she was very sweet and kind, she literally screwed up every part of our order! We'll get a different server next time, but the food is absolutely amazing, and I will go back as quickly as I can!

Brad Gillette: If you state you’re open until 2:30pm, especially as a place with limited hours, don’t shut down at two and refuse to cook a bratwurst to-go. Ended up going down the road and picked up some uncooked to grill for my father who is in his final days in the hospital.Until today we always enjoyed eating at Westsider and were pleased with the service.
Awesomely Aimless Adventures: Welcome to the Westside. The best side of GR. It’s real, historic and friendly. The food is flavorful and ginormous portions. I tried the corn beef skillet and could only fit 1/2 of it in my tummy. Tried the pickle soup and you must as well. It’s a game changer! It’s simple and solid. Just like the Westside 💕

Zachary Burkum: We were happy to revisit Westsider Cafe for the first time in a long time. It was still busy, but a wait should be expected at any place worth the time on a Saturday morning. We were happy to be able to leave a name and phone number with the hostess so we could wait outside. There's not a lot of room inside the restaurant to wait for a table. Our server was friendly, and the food was as good as we remembered. My partner and I both tried something new this time. She got the Cuban skillet and I got the Polish skillet. Both were great, and I was excited for the thick cut toast we got. I forgot how good the breads are that they use! I'm looking forward to going back again soon!Parking: The cafe's free parking lot is behind the building, but is pretty small. Be prepared to park on Walker or one of the nearby side streets if you're going during peak hours.
Chad Ewald: Delicious breakfast restaurant. Be prepared to wait for a table on weekends. Food quality is some of the best for a breakfast restaurant! Great job to all. Highly recommend.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Little Bird: what do users think?
Dan Holmes: If I could ever eat their food, I could tell you if it's any good. Three times I've went, and three times they said they were closing to clean up and would open later for dinner. All three times I came back and they still weren't open.

Ryan: A Memorable Evening at The Little Bird!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at The Little Bird, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and impeccable service, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. The atmosphere at The Little Bird is a perfect blend of intimate and inviting, with tasteful décor and soft lighting that create a cozy dining experience. I appreciated the carefully curated artwork on the walls and the delicate bird-themed touches that brought the restaurant's concept to life. The menu offered a wide range of delectable dishes, each crafted with an artful blend of flavors and textures that cater to a variety of tastes. I was delighted to find a selection of appetizers, mains, and desserts that showcased the creativity and skill of the chef. One of the highlights of the evening was trying their signature cocktail, the "Feathered Fizz." This refreshing blend of gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon, and sparkling wine was a true delight. The presentation was stunning, with a delicate feather garnish that truly embodied the essence of The Little Bird. The service throughout the night was exceptional, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who were more than happy to recommend dishes and answer any questions I had. They made sure that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish.Overall, The Little Bird offers a unique and memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special night out. The combination of excellent service, a cozy atmosphere, and a diverse menu made my visit truly unforgettable. I can't wait to return and try more of their exquisite offerings!

Rose Hetrick: Wonderful lil restaurant with a bar. A gem to the city I'm sure. My husband had the Smash Burger and loved it!! Also, a champagne velvet beer, very good. The fries, don't get me started lol Best we've ever had (I stole a few😉). I had the Raddichio (spelling?) salad with honeydew, blue cheese, cashews, and forget what a couple ingredients were, topped with an in house cantaloupe vinaigrette dressing. Very very good👍🏼 The man that seated us was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable as was the wait staff. Cozy quaint place. Would definitely visit again. I'd give 100 stars if I could ✨⭐✨⭐✨..
Antwayn Spencer: Great, great, great, service!

Lisa Mueller: Brunch. Cozy and clean restaurant. Glad we got here at a time that wasn't too busy because there is limited seating. I got the overnight oats which I loved with a perfect consistency and perfectly balanced flavor. Husband got the eggs, potatoes and toast. The potatoes were so soft inside and crispy out, with wonderful seasoning. Staff was great, and the food was prepared quickly. I certainly will be back!!! Can't wait to try dinner as well.
bruce miller: Simple and special, I always love it hereFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Lilly: I have brunched here a few times over the last few years. Every visit has been on a busy weekend and despite the limited seating in this cozy establishment, my group and I have always been sat in a reasonable time—Usually less than a 30 minute wait.Table service is always quick and pleasant.Food is consistently fabulous, both classic dishes and unique menu items. We always get an order of the seasonal French toast for the table to start. It seems like every flavor is better than the last. For savory items we have ordered the brunch burger and steak & egg’s multiple times—SO GOOD. And this last visit we also had their French omelette and it was amazing.Keep it up Little Bird !

That Early Bird: what do users think?
Caleb Clark: That early bird I recommend for breakfasts, delicious food and tasty treats are welcome and delicious. However, the coffee left me desiring a more delicious cup. There are two things when I order coffee out... a cappuccino or cortado. They're a barista's choice to evaluate a coffee out. Here, when I ordered a cappuccino, the espresso shot delivered harsh, bitter taste notes and yielded unfortunate flavors on the tongue. What was also unfortunate in the way the milk had been steamed... the usual foamy, silky-smooth milk a cappuccino demands was not present in my drink. Stick to the food and iced coffee.
Michael Sharp: Worth eating out. I had the toast with salmon and capers, so good. It reminded me of Whales, especially because it was 60° and almost raining.Kid-friendliness: They have books and some toys, it would be a great morning walk with kids.
shelby staples: The lavender latte I had was 10/10! It was so good! I also had the grits, it was good! But being from the south, it was a little lacking compared to other grits I’ve tried. Overall, love the place and the vibe. My husband got the potatoes on the side and they were delicious!! . We’ll definitely be back.
Allyson Carlton: would be five, but they got rid of the two best things on the menu - the breakfast nachos and the tacos :(
Kelly Yagiela: Always a yummy and comfortable experience at That Early Bird! I love that they're in walking distance of my apartment, and I love that they're such an easy place to do remote work that provides access to delicious beverages AND food. Looking forward to returning!Pictured is an avocado toast (huge!!) and a spritzer tea drink. I also tried a vanilla latte while I was there, their homemade syrups are yummy!
Gordon Peterson: Nice place. Good food. Home town atmosphere.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Laurel Ratcliffe: I really enjoyed it here. Blueberry scones are mui delicious!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Raven Griffin: A quaint little eatery in East Town. The decor may be lacking but the food more than makes up for it! I ordered the Curried Vegetable Hash for breakfast and I would order it again and again. Frankie cooked everything to perfection. 10 out of 10 would return!!Recommended dishes Curried Vegetable Hash …More
Megan Murphy: There is nothing better on Earth than the avocado toast I tasted on this day. The cortado I paired with it was heavenly. The Early Bird will go down in history as the savior of my taste buds. Also the vitamin D intake I experienced from these massive windows was extraordinary. Ella Rapelje: I grabbed a spicy mocha and a cranberry almond scone to go, both were yummy but the scone was just a little raw in the center. Will definitely be back. Can't wait to try the full menu as items that were leaving the kitchen looks delicious.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Matthew Sjoerdsma: You truly won't find a better, quicker, more affordable brunch on a Sunday morning. This place is almost always packed, but is also always quick with your order. They offer GF options for some of their meals, which is an easy excuse for us to go. The coffee is excellent, and the water is self-serve, so you don't need to wait to grab a drink (we like that!).There's even outside seating in the warm months! This gives you a chance to enjoy the variety of East-Towners passing by while you eat.We love you, Early Bird! Thanks for being our go-to spot!

Linear Restaurant: what do users think?
Dan Holmes: If you want a date spot in the Belknap neighborhood, or anywhere within 3 miles of downtown Grand Rapids, you can't do any better than Linear. What do you get here? Amazing food and good service, and a generous pouring of your favorite drink. You won't break your wallet, either.Has seating outside near the Grand River, which is very nice.
Lee Latella: Our experience was very poor. Loud, very limited menu, bartender taking so many shots with the bar, waited 35 minutes for a cold partial waffle and chicken. 1/5 will not be back, the rest of my party was disappointed.
Ryan: Great food, great service.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Cam Streidl: Great meal, nicely served mere feet from the river. Beautiful night and gentle people all around.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Theresann Pyrett: We enjoyed a girls' night on the patio and the food and drinks were amazing! Dessert was our favorite and the cocktails were great too! Coffee at the end was delicious :)Sounds odd but the bathroom smelled so good! Only downside is parking, but we found some scooters close by that made it fun!Parking: We wend on a Wednesday night at 6pm and could not find parking within the half mile, but it was also a 70 degree day in spring
B Wilhelm: Would love to have water served to be filteredFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Wagyu Flank Steak …More
Mike Ahrendt: Food was pretty good all around. The soup we ordered was a disappointment, however the rest of the food was lovely. The service was pretty good all around, but nothing special. The noise of the restaurant and jammed together seats make this place very hard to hear or have a decent conversation in - which was disappointing. This restaurant is really leaning on its beautiful location in the city.
Jesse: I can't wait to go back to this place. My partner and I were looking for something "millenial fancy"- nice but not stuck up or wildly unaffordable. This place was amazing, great vibes, service, and the food was SO good. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Nathan Palmer: Food was excellent, drinks were great. Service was on point. Will definitely be going back.Recommended dishes Wagyu Flank Steak …More
Cheryl Poole: Linear is always my first choice for a holiday or my birthday.
Alison A: Came here for dinner a few weeks ago. It was so nice to sit out by the water, great location. For our appetizer we got the meatballs and they weren’t our favorite, they have a uniquely sweet flavor. Our entrees were both delicious though, the swordfish & the steak but, the veggies with the steak were a bit undercooked. Drinks were great & we had a fabulous waitress.
Nick Davis: Amazing bourbon line, and the fish n chips were some of the best I've had.
heather Rayburn: Called ahead and rest our interest in doing a walk-in today which we were told that was absolutely available and that they did their best not to turn away anybody when we arrived at the restaurant it opening time The gentleman in charge dismissive of the head hostess said they absolutely do not do walk-ins and they would not even put us on a waiting list of any kind unacceptable for the amount of drive time that we took to come to this restaurant
Jonathan Tasman: Dessert lackluster. We tried the mocha cake and the seasonal creme brulee (April 2023).The mocha cake was over powered by the espresso flavor. With an after taste of bitterness, mixed with cake that was dry and soggy. Lastly the cake was cemented in a weird geletan, making it difficult to eat.The creme brulee was not mixed with the liquor correctly and was gritty like sand. Mix that with the pea sea glass it was better on paper.I appreciate the attempt at new flavors. However the execution, plating and the flavors left me disappointed.
Eliezer Yeong: We ordered cocktails and the octopus as an hors d'oeuvre. The octopus was not very good compared to MDRD. It was not cooked well. It was not tender and had a gooey texture in some spots. It was also very small compared to MDRD, MDRD usually has 2 tentacles, Linear only has 1 small one.Food: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Kate McClearen: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Ginger-Miso Pork Meatballs, Wagyu Flank SteakMore
Lori Martin: Great food.! I had the chicken salad sandwich. Service was friendly and fast.
Explore With Steggie: Am I in Grand Rapids or have I been transported to Toronto or Atlanta, or some other cool city? This place has it all. It's in an old building but the atmosphere is contemporary. I can't wait for summer when I'll be able to dine al fresco, along the river. The service was impeccable; appropriately attentive and unrushed. The cocktails were classic and creative. I had the Black Manhattan which is always a favorite. The wine selection is special and surprisingly affordable. We ordered a nice bottle of red blend from California. For an appetizer we had samosas which were delicious and vegan. I had the salmon, with fingerling potatoes and was perfectly done. Hubby had the Wagyu Steak which he described as tender and paired with root vegetables. I am anxious for an excuse to go back.
