Knoop Rooftop Beer Garden: what do users think?
Thad Wilson: Knoop is a fantastic place to grab some drinks and a bite to eat. Atmosphere is always upscale but friendly. Highly recommend reserving a seat days in advance to guarantee an outdoor view. It's a nice look at the skyline of Grand Rapids or at least some nice breeze to add to the ambiance. They have outdoor heaters so no need to worry about being chilly.
Colleen Cottrell: Decent design vibe and servers were super fun. Not sure why there was a big screen to in the wall playing MTV on a Friday evening. Personally, I don’t think tvs should be anywhere in public that isn’t a sports bar. We came for the pretzels and drinks and fresh air but I wouldn’t come for more than that. Menu was lacking options. It was mostly appetizer plates. The menu descriptions left out a few important details that made us surprised when the dishes and drinks came out. $100 later…all in good fun.
Jim Miars: I have been to this place a few times. The other day I went there with a friend right when they opened. We tried the glass door and it was locked, the hostess sitting at the bar at the end of the corridor could see us, took her time getting to the door to unlock it. She asked if we had a reservation, no smile on her face. She finally said we could sit "over there" and pointed. The place was empty, not sure why she couldn't walk us eight steps over there. Then we waited quite a while for a waitress. She finally showed up, and her attitude was not good, she acted as is she didn't know what she was doing and we were a burden. I ordered a Miller Lite, my friend ordered a glass of wine, and we waited again. Finally she came back and told me the Miller Lite "wasn't ready" yet, would a regular Miller be okay? I said fine. When she finally got back with our drinks, I gave her a twenty dollar bill and told her I wanted to pay(I was afraid when I was ready she would have vanished). She disappeared for some time, finally came back and said "the drawer wasn't ready, if you want your five dollars change, you will have to wait a while", almost as if she was trying to prompt me to tell her to "keep it". By that time I was really annoyed and told her I would wait. Then she vanished again. We finally left without my change, couldn't wait to leave. So rude! This place is has a really cool look and nice views of the city, and I know it's hard to find good people, I just wanted them to know they need to get someone that gives a rip to oversee the place when it opens at 4pm, cause we were treated really poorly.
Samuel Schubkegel: Idk why this place is below 4.5 stars. It deserves to be higher than it is.Knoop does a unique thing in Grand Rapids. It gives Chicago rooftop bar vibes. It gives upscale, chic vibes. It’s a phenomenal place to bring friends who are from out of town. The best way to do Knoop is to order pretzels and drinks. Don’t do a full meal, focus on the finger foods and beverages! Slow down, enjoy conversation with people when you go. Absolutely don’t go alone- not that kind of place. What it doesn’t do well is dinner… I would’t go here for a full meal. There’s alternative seating through out, tables, couches, soft-seating, standing, high tops. When the weather is nice, everything is open to the balcony.A good place to stop for anyone doing a bachelor/bachelorette party — it’s classy.
Jenalyn H: Cool staff, kitchen is closed on mondays so don’t expect food. Drinks r bomb tho
Marty Fortuna: Cool view and super friendly!
Jesse Saxberg: Went here for our 2 year anniversary to get some drinks for a night cap and ended up proposing to my new fiancée on their beautiful balcony overlooking downtown GF. Huge thanks to Jenna for recording our special moment and making a night we will never forget!
Leslie Boonstra: We called to inquire about a reservation and were told we did not need one. Then on our way to the bar we went online and put our name on the waitlist. When we arrived we were told it would an hour wait and they would call us when something became available. We never received a call and when we called twice after the hour was up no one ever answered. We won’t try the knoop rooftop bar again.
Anna Yanalunas: Really yummy cute place for sharing plates & cocktails. Missing 1 star because they ran out of buns for their sliders at 6:30 on a Friday? We put in two orders and weren’t able to eat any. Seems like a weird thing to run out of especially with such a small menu to begin with.
Stevie Wunder: Everyone was so nice, great service! The bartender made a PERFECT old fashioned, and the old fashioned bacon was wicked good!!
Shelby Cline: The food and drinks are okay - cool atmosphere though
Hannah Yoskovich: Excellent food, drinks and hospitality! I’ll be back!
Kassandra Weber: My husband and I had a lovely date at Knoop. Our waitress, Jenna, was so kind and helpful. We were seated right by the window, so one side of us was GR at night from the top story of Canopy hotel, and the other side was the enjoyable environment of Knoop itself. The food and drinks were delicious! Reasonable price for appetizer-like meals. Definitely don’t expect to get full off of one shareable plate, but if you are a person who loves to get multiple appetizer for everyone to share, this is a great place for that! We can’t wait to visit again in the warm months to experience sitting outside on the balcony.
Isis G: Amazing. I loved the food, the charcuterie board was unique and high quality, the Korean chicken dish was amazing I fell in love with it, waygu sliders were perfectly seasoned and the bread was amazingly toasted, and the “catch me if you can” cocktail tasted so good and reminded me of Christmas ! Loved the vibes, great views and the bartenders as well as my server were sweet people. Overall, I can’t WAIT to come here when I go back to GR. I give this experience a 10/10.

Breeanna Willison: My visit to Knoop was very disappointing. My younger sister and I visited on a busy Friday evening and got sat instantly, which was surprising. We knew we were going to order drinks right away. She ordered one of the signature mocktails, because she's only 18, and our server instantly asked if she wanted to add alcohol to it. This made her a little uncomfortable because it's clearly under the mocktail section of the menu, and she had never been asked if she wanted alcohol at a restaurant before. It just threw her off, which had already thrown me off. But we moved on and I ordered a cocktail. I had my ID in my hand because I just turned 21 over the summer, I almost always get asked to show my ID, and I feel like it's respectful to have it in my hand ready to go. Our server stares at it in my hand for a good 30 seconds, and then grabs it out of my hand to feel up and down it. He hands it back to me laughing and says he cannot accept it. I was really confused at this point. I asked why he couldn't accept it, and he explained that he had a Michigan Driver's License that was not as glossy as mine was. I found it pointless to argue, but I couldn't help thinking "Yeah of course it's glossier, it's probably 5 years newer than yours." He then offered to sell me a mocktail, which felt like an insult. He just offered my 18 year old sister alcohol in the NON-ALCOHOLIC drink she ordered, but will not honor my completely valid new Michigan's Drivers License as an acceptable form of ID. I'll definitely be carrying my passport around from now on. The whole interaction with our server was just extremely uncomfortable, which was really unfortunate. We had been excited to go all week. Such a let down.
anthony bakker: Great place for drinks but the food was awful. I wish I would have taken a picture of the poutine, it was boring fries with a few “meat” crumbles sprinkled on top. Very disappointing.
Greg Whitaker: Service was excellent, as were the drinks. The pretzel sampler was EVERYTHINGFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Manasvi Pinnamaneni: We came here for a pre-wedding celebration with friends and spent over 400 bucks and at the end of the night, one of the staff came up to us and accused us of stealing the phone from which the music was playing. My husband was able to go back to the table and find it in less than thirty seconds and we never got an apology, despite being accused before anyone did a cursory glance of the area. People pay a premium at a place like this to have a special experience and they really ruined a happy occasion for us. The idea that we would even steal a random phone is so offensive...
Mike Trent: A great rooftop to spend the afternoon eating and drinking. Our server was very helpful with our drink selections and never steered us wrong. They were all excellent. The food was perfect as well. It took us a while to get a reservation, so book early. It's a busy spot, and it deserves to be.
Amanda Verhagen: Bad experience right out of the gate. The host and hostess were some of the rudest I have ever encountered. They literally laughed at us when we asked to be put on the waiting list. We ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender was friendly and helpful, but with the continued dirty looks and rude comments from the host/hostess, we left after one drink and eating somewhere else.

The Friesian Gastro Pub: what do users think?
Shelby Denhof: I came here with a group of 10. They were very accommodating with a large reservation in advance. The outside space is trendy, fun, and enjoyable to be in.There are lots of options for fun cocktails. The vegan nachos were the best thing we ate (and none of us are vegan!).I knocked down a star because I think the entrees could have been better, especially for the price point.Overall, a great place to go with friends, especially in the summer.
Joshua Jones: Nice atmosphere. Patio seating is a pleasant feel in the summer and spring. The food is tasty. Smoked pork made on site. Good buns. Local beer and spirits.Vegetarian options: good portobello sandwich. other options too.
Kate Phillips: Chef Bob's refresh of the menu is creative and delicious, and the service is impeccable.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Carol Smith: Good food, good drinks, and friendly, efficient service.Vegetarian options: Best vegan chips and cheese we've ever had!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Chelsea Olivares: Very disappointing. Food lacked any sort of flavor. I ordered chicken to add to my pasta dish, and was unable to eat it because it had so much gristle. For the price point I had much higher expectations.
Z Brooks: Our server who seemed to be the only one working today was phenomenal!!! Our table was able to bond over Detroit/Toledo! He held the whole restaurant down. His food recommendations were top notch. Couldn’t ask for a better brunch
Amanda Biber: 5 Stars is an understatement for this gem of a pub!! The pasta dishes and nachos are decadent and the cocktails are imaginative and yummy! Great job y’all 🌞

Definitely worth a visit, and don't hesitate to try the French Dip!Update 2023: Visited for brunch today and it was excellent! Both the Corned Beef Hash and Breakfast Burrito were delicious. The bottle of bubbles is reasonably priced as well.

Anna Wylie: Delicious brunch, great service and AMAZING drinks for both my sister who drinks and myself who is sober
Marissa Zinn: Elevated yet laid back environment. Great place to grab dinner & drink. Their cocktails were very tasty. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was very flavorful. However I got Bolognese as my entree and it was good but Lacking of a few things. Pasta was over cooked , and I feel like the sauce could have been more flavorful without straying from traditional bolognese. Understanding it probably wasn’t one of their staple dishes, but definitely could use some refinement! Excited to come back and try some of their sandwiches on the menu, I’ve heard good things!
Juliea Doulia: Great spot to get food and drinks and the entire staff is excellent!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Colin Hartel: Really impressed by what Bier Distillery brings to the table. Started out with Henry’s Jackpot, a rye and absinthe cocktail and it did not disappoint. If you’re a fan of anise flavor, this is the cocktail for you. Both liquors distilled on site and are delicious. Tried the seasonal Hawaiian burger with a side of onion rings and WOW. The onion ring batter contains their own blonde ale and they turned out incredible; perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. Might be the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Decided to try a flight of their liqueurs which were quite pleasant. The Stroopwaffel and Hopjes were delicious however, the banket is the best almond liquor I’ve ever had. Sweet and full of almond flavor with a great mouthfeel and aftertaste. Lastly tried a flight of beers; capt Dave NEIPA, strawberry fields, fin du bier and maple rumble. The strawberry flavor was amazing and paired wonderfully with capt dave. The fin du bier Belgian had good spice with a dry finish making for a yeasty flavor that didn’t linger too long. The maple rumble was interesting; maple is a very difficult flavor to accomplish with beer, but this one hit the spot. Sweet but not syrupy mouthfeel and maple is definitely present in the best way possible. Just wish it had a bit more carbonation but Bier Distillery was a home run overall. I’d love to come back and try more of the Dutch-leaning food.
Todd Olson: Loved the service...5 stars. We both got whiskey flights and left with a bottle. 100% will go back. Lost one star only because not everything we tried was in our wheelhouse. Give this place a visit.Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Mark Olds: A great place with refreshing brews!
Jessica Morgan: Love this place! The outdoor seating is comfortable and the drinks are to die for! I'm so glad they added a kitchen during shutdown! They pay as much attention to detail and creativity in their food as their cocktails. To start, we ordered the Bitterballen. Very unique and yummy! We enjoyed the cheesehead burger with fries and my kids loved the options on the kid's menu. The dips/sauces are delicious... especially the curry ketchup!I love that they have the outdoor seating so we could bring our puppy for socialization and an outing so she didn't just need to stay home alone. They were so kind to her and us and even brought out a water dish for her. Can't wait to go back!

James Rowland: Delicious drinks. Well worth the trip! Speculaas old fashion was phenomenal!
Al Lenhart: Great service and drinks.
Dean DeGood: Went for drinks tonight and had horrible service. Waited for 20 minutes before being acknowledged at all. Server refused to come back to table for 15 minutes. Finally went up to bar to order drinks ourselves. They were not busy and server thought she should clean empty tables instead of helping us. Other patrons got service even though they came in 15 minutes after us. Will not be going back.
Elyse Arsulowicz: I am a huge fan of Bier Distillery! They have it all - beer, wine, and spirits. They also have awesome food and a fun and unique atmosphere. We have been here a bunch recently and have really fallen in love with their Ms. Pickles beer (the best hangover cure). They have some awesome and unique beers on tap - all brewed in house. I also learned that I am a gin fan, thanks to their Lavender Gin Martini - who knew?! That drink was life changing! They are constantly updating their cocktail menu, too - always fun and delicious stuff!Their food is awesome, as well. It's a dutch insprired menu, but nothing crazy and some standard favorites, too. We have had the bitterballen, smothered fries, cheese balls, meatballs and pub cheese - all wonderful. Especially the bitterballen! It's like a mini pot roast in a ball. I love the smoky chickpea and potato soup! Also, the cheeseburger salad + pickle vinaigrette? Bomb.Mac n Cheese, apple pie burger, & apple gouda toastie have all been great.I look forward to trying more of their food items! The owner, Joel, is awesome and friendly - on a random night we even met his parents! Also, the staff is super friendly and accommodating, too.Definitely a must try!

At the table we also had split pea soup, and other sandwiches and everything was delicious.Kid-friendliness: We didn't have our daughter with us this trip, but noticed the kids options had real food options which looked great.

Sundance Grill & Bar: what do users think?
michelle liefer: Corned beef breakfast and service wonderful from Emily!
Robin Kennedy: Nice and cozy bar and restaurant!
Ruth Chaffee: Nothing like real Southwest food. Service was also terrible. My waitress took my appetizer and drink order and never came back to check on me or even take my dinner entree order. Margarita was too sugary, too much margarita mix.
Kermit_InBed: Not very good. Food was not worth the money and the waitress was rude. You’re better off going to a chain restaurant than here.
Sherri Landstra: Bartender is horrible
L W: We are happy with our choice to try Sundance Grill and Bar for dinner last night. We chose to sit outside and that did not disappoint! We tried the mimosa flight and they were tasty. The wet burrito and breakfast quesidilla were also good choices.
Bev & Jim Farrell: With reservations at 5:30 on a Tuesday night, we're seated right away and then waited almost 1.5 hours for our tacos ( at least 15 min for drinks alone with next to no one at the bar). Restaurant was severely understaffed for a night when the theater was running. Staff was doing the best they could. Management issue. Food was ok - but had to eat in 10 min due to unbelievably long wait in order to make our show. Have eaten at other Sundance Grill locations where food was very good and service excellent. Would not recommend going here before a show - even if you make reservations. Big disappointment...
Alida Wingard: Really friendly staff. Delicious food and great prices! Loaded spuds was a full meal!
Lilly Baker: I've been here both for weekend brunch and weekday lunch and have really enjoyed it both times. They had some good brunch drinks and I really like the hatch chili skillet with scrambled eggs. It's pretty reasonable priced and they have a pretty large space. The weekday lunch was pretty empty, but for weekend brunch it was pretty busy, so you might have to wait a little bit for a table.

Karlie Zimmer: Great service & great veggie scramble! Emily & Kayt are the best!
Hank Wing: I visit every weekend for breakfast! Emily and Kayt are the best bartenders and are always so friendly. Also, Jackie and Safiyyah always greet me with a welcoming smile as well. Great breakfast and coffee. Alyssa is a great server as well!

I can't decide which I liked better! The portions are pretty large, you definitely get what you pay for and more. We will definitely return if we come back to Grand Rapids.
Sonia Vega: Here for a Bachelorette weekend. Great service, food, and cocktails. Today, Sunday brunch with Jason. Great server! Handsome, friendly, courteous. Highly recommended. Chloe Esparza: The food was slappin we had Alaina as our waitress she was amazing. So sweet and bubbly. Was always checking in on us to make sure we were good!
Haley Nash: made a reservation for 6:00 outdoors, and we got here and they claimed we called the wrong sundance. we checked and we didn’t. I’m not sure where the miscommunication was but pretty upsetting for my first experience here overall to have made a reservation the day before just to be told there was no where for us to sit and eat
