Gerald R Ford Job Corps Center: what do users think?
KayAna KashaHarris: Terrible school
Michelle Chamberlain: I went to here in 1987-1988 and took culinary arts and it was a great learning experience. I also had a blast.Nothing but great memories!!
Jake Saltsman: Truly a nice place in 93When they're for a trade school welding and Industrial Maintenance the people who was running it was.
Tequila Welch: My work place
Andrea Lee: Worst school ever I went in 2011 ad they had me in there for 8 months with nothing they don’t care about the students and I was on the last straw of leaving because everybody wanted to fight
Nevaeh Black: Terrible terrible school don't have any desire to make students feel comfortable whatsoever right along with treating students as if they are not human whatsoever
Lamar Burt: I went 2003- 2004.. Had a freakin blastI was older so i knew what i needed to do grab my GED in 2weeks.. Took H.O.T. was out in a year. Fights and drug use of course , staff was Hilarious Jablaski was shall i say a butt hurt adult at the time i was there. Mrs. Jackson wasy dog.. Mrs pride was hell. All in sll great experience for me, met people im still in touch with til this day
Stephen Jones: Got kicked out for being grabbed but yet forced to do free labor for an actual fight I had nothing to do with. Few weeks prior they made me paint almost every closet in male dorm free labor not even during training hours my free time. I was manipulated into painting or get kicked out for two other students because I went to the bathroom while they were in there fighting. The only bathroom to use because of covid. Mr Burnett, Mr.Williams and Mr.Powell all forced me and several other students into free labor during our off time. They gave me $20 for over 20 closets or 5 rooms that I painted. Said $10 per closet but I was manipulated and kicked out after being grabbed and harassed. Mr. Burnett only cares about himself and his precious meetings i don't recommend and hate this place Mr Shanafelt was an absolute great instructor by the way and also Mr.Austell best instructors ever. I was bribed into painting and manipulated by Brian Burnett, Joe Powell and Christopher Williams go fix the sewer problem in the girls dorm and stop tryna act like something yall not all facts I hope all your staff leaves high turnover rate its ridiculous
Rowena Ellison: I went here back in 1987-88. I hated it at first but as I got to know people it was more fun. From the pics I have looked at, it looks like the dorms have been downsized. There were usually 7 or 8 girls to a room and there were no showers or toilets in the rooms, you had to go down the hall for that (same with the guys). I personally didn't have any problems with fighting but there definitely were some that happened (mostly over boys). They used to take us to shopping malls, laser light shows, the library which was downtown at the time, and I don't know if they still take students to concerts but they did back in my day. Everyone pretty much partied on the weekends and a lot of us would get wrote up for coming in after curfew lol (myself included). I'm not going to lie it was rough getting used to at first, but I stuck it out and got my GED and Certification of Completion as an Office Receptionist (which I still have to this day). I stayed for a year and wished now I would have stayed longer and furthered my education in either the program I was in or in Auto Mechanics. In short, I had a blast and I miss the fun I had and the friends I made. If given the chance I would do it all over again and would have stayed for the full two years.
Jasper James: This place is an absolute DISASTER! The students who go here are EXTREMELY violent and VERY TRASHY. Incredibly unsafe. I DO NOT recommend coming here. The photos I have attached below are 100% real and I had taken them inside the Gerald R Ford Job Corps Center. The floor supervisors are mean and all they do is scream at students. This place is awful.
Yolanda Norris: I’ve read all the reviews and I feel bad for all the things that staff and students had to endure prior to 2021. Please trust and believe that things are going to change for the better under the direction of the new Center Director. Ethics, Moral, Respect, Training, and Hard-Work are some of his #1 Priorities. This will soon be a wonderful place to work for staff and an even better place for students to train and live. Things are going to turn around for the BEST. The Academic/CTT Director is the BEST that you could EVER ask for. Students & Staff will not be disappointed under their direction!!!
Cassidy Schobert: Ill be honest this place is more suited for miners the adult students are often punished for the younger kids actions and there's no separation in the age groups witch often creates drama and problems one side the staff can be alright but on the other they can often be very rude and have noticed them to pick favorites which cause them to be particularly more rude to other students to be honest overall the place is like a juvenile facility
Tae’Shawn Taylor: Punishing the innocent students for the wild ones
Finally Free October 2019: This place would be a great place if staff listened to the students and one another. It is currently being led my the most obnoxious, arrogant, self-centered staff I have ever worked for. They undermine the staff in all areas of authority when publicly admonishing staff in front of the students. They have staff who are sleeping with other staff and students, clearly violating their own fraternization policy while being whole aware that this behavior is ongoing. HR & CD employs whole families that are working under their own family member’s as their direct report. There aren’t enough staff to teach the trades & its certifications. So, CDSS is lying and saying that it is not unethical or against MI DOE policy and that the center is not subject to MI DOE policy when approaching uncertified staff to teach trade certs. The former office administration instructor was told that they needed to be certified to teach OAtrade after 1.2 yrs of teaching the trade and then was told that she had to pay for the certifications themselves. They quit on the spot. I left the program because they came to me last month (October) trying to first lie to me then try to bully me into teaching the certifications after I my reluctance to do it. They are not letting go students when they have zero tolerance behaviors or are not progressing academically. There was a fight on the second floor that when staff called SPBO for assistance, they were told that they were in a meeting so staff had to ask a counselor to go get security just to help diffuse the fight. They are making all staff on center, including janitors find students jobs so that when students get survey calls after exiting program they can get their numbers met but they are not giving incentives to the staff for doing so unless the whole center meets its numbers. Keep in mind that the CTR (Outreach/Admissions - unaffiliated to center) gets an immediate $100 cash bonus when this placement takes place. Yet, they’re not even the ones that placed the student. CNA trade hasn’t been staffed since they took the contract over so they outsourced with Ross Medical that isn’t even accredited to even get a job for the student in the field of study. One female student graduated from Ross and JC to go onto to work at Mercy Health as a Environmental Service Technician not as a CNA. They changed the whole salary/wage system to reflect over 88% of the staff as “exempt” employees so that they don’t have to pay you overtime. The CD called a whole center meeting to check people about talking behind their back. The CD and its management team are all bullies, especially the CDSS who is its flunky and can’t stand their own boss and talks horribly about them behind their back yet has become just like them. This center is led on personality and NOT character leadership. Staff need to take a look at their own personal ethics before attempting to demand students change theirs. This center has a history of male staff making inappropriate comments, gestures, and actually sleeping with the female and male students. One male staff who is still working there impregnated a female student and it went out over Facebook and the center knew it. Students are being bullied and the bullies are allowed to remain on center. One sub teacher makes racial disparities against other students who do not share their personal ethnicity or race. This center needs to be audited and investigated. They are driving students around in a van with a busted window which has to be a clear violation of safety policy. Students bring weed and other contraband items on center. Students can go to restaurants off-center and bring back liquids without them even being checked for added alcohol. Plus, the center is a supposed to have been a closed center, ordered by DOL, after a Florida JC student was killed by peers and this center stopped abiding by the policy without getting permission from the region authorities or DOL before doing so. I could go on but there is a character limit on reviews but I’m sure you understand where I’m going.
Juan Trevino: Graduated in 1990 great place to get a start on your career
Gabriel Simmons: This place is so run down
josie krocker: Yes this place really sucks to live at and be at and the food is weird. Everyone is obnoxious and sometimes it can feel like you're constantly at odds with something or another. This place isn't a 5 star but I want to say don't let the bad things said deter you from coming here. I was here a couple years ago. I hated it all but I got my diploma and my trade certifications in MOS. It was worth it because I haven't been homeless since I left job Corp. If you go there to do your business you'll be fine. Would you rather be in the situation you're in now or go here have it suck for a few months and then be job ready and enjoy your life?
Breanna Morgan: Kids have sex everywhere here. Staff no help what's so ever. Drugs out the a** in there, recreation bathrooms Never clean by the work out rooms. Nd male staff give sexual gestures to minors.
Spectra Surasshu: PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT THE TRUTH THIS PLACE!!If I could give zero stars I would. I don't recommend anyone go to this Job Corps Center. The staff is extremely unprofessional, they expect you to live off of $23.01 for two weeks, and the place is a trash hole. They LIED to me and said that if i finished a trade and leave that I'd get $1000 as payment but the truth is you get barely $500 if you complete 1 trade. If you go there for a Diploma and a trade only then will they give you barely $1000 dollars. When you've completed your courses there and prepare to leave, it's like they don't want you to leave. Yes, they actually keep you from going home and delay your exit from the program. And when you do manage to get out, they act like they don't even want to pay you. The Administrators lie to people and tell how much of a good place it is to get them to come there because to them you do not matter. All that matters to them is the number of people that comes in... weekly by the way. It's a place where teachers and staff have sex with the students, and there's nothing being done about it. The kitchen is utterly disgusting and the food is never good because it'll either make you vomit, give you food poisoning, or diarrhea. I urge anyone who is thinking about going there, DON'T DO IT!!
Shannon S: I'm so glad my daughter is done with this place horrible food uncooked mostly my daughter stayed sick.. drove over 2hrs for her graduation to have to walk far to be made to stand outside for more than a hour... Almost like prison... Don't even want to give a rating .my daughter had seizures and was not allowed to rest made to go sit on class with no rest after coming from hospital straight to class...
Richard Grays: I loved it I got the proper education it was everything and more then I expected It felt like home away from home I was comfortable there after 3 days

Kathleen Klusovsky: Very helpful, resourceful and kind in helping you find a good job.
Shailind: Horrible service, rude people!!! They don't even offer services to the community anymore. Even if you make an appointment
amy polaski: The staff is very helpful and they have resources to help you find employment or get educated
peanutlee 33: Completely bunk, the former Leonard NE office (which was outstanding) *relocated* across town to this place. First, I absolutely hate the West Side. Secondly, the building is considerably smaller than Leonard, and most of the old familiar staff are gone, alongside the nicer commodities. Makes no sense.Found out that Leonard got sold right under the former staff's noses; the relocation was in less 30 days. Franklin gets my business from hereon.
Yung Flamez Beats: Moved To 215 Straight St. nw....
cowboy: They relocated !! They are no longer here

West Michigan Works!: what do users think?
Tena Espey McAllister: They are amazing
Nettiegurl 16: Ridiculous onsite understaffing, and rude workers who can't or don't help you, and a janky website that wastes your time registering you for useless workshops, that fail to send a viable link to attend. Called a few days ago to see about speaking with an available career coach, or someone who could assist with the job search process. And the well meaning lady rambled on asking if and where I was registered, and how I wanted to register under my actual name blah blah, before I had to politely cut her off, and state my business.
Æ eLVe: Had these people done their job in October when I started my grant process I wouldn't have been denied funds for my career program that started in January.I highly recommend you find an office that's actually going to help you in the time frame that you need, even and especially if you start the MiWorks process months before your program starts.Y'all are disrespectful to the citizens you serve when you lack the competence to complete your job in a timely process.3½ months, 105 days. I qualify but your timing disqualified me. Shameful. Embarrassing.
Prajwal Sigdel: Friendly and helpful staffs, walked me through all steps for work regeneration
John Jackson: First and foremost everyone I encountered at the agency was polite and professional. However, I just don't see why so much tax dollars goes to these agencies who essentially do what you can already do for yourself. Why isn't more money being put in public transportation or ride share programs so people can get to and from work ? A lot of people are struggling to afford insurance or even a car for that matter. It feels as if our government wants us to fail and be dependent on social services. I'm not advocating completely defunding these agencies but I'm failing to see what they actually accomplish versus what they claim to accomplish and that goes for all the ones I've been to in this State. I was basically told come back when you have a better idea how to fix yourself. That's fine, but w.t.h. would I need help for if I didn't need help ? Super polite staff though.
Marcus Ryan: Every rep is a walking flesh bag. They do nothing to help with unemployment. They will find every way in the book to place blame on you. They arent forthcoming at all. This whole process is a scam. Doubt ill ever see a penny from the State after paying taxes to these greedy MFs for 15+ years. I wouldnt even waste your time applying for unemployment.
Robert Oliver: Things have not improved since pandemic. Still long waits. Still erroneous and random flags to claims. Still a denial of benefits for whatever frivolous reasons they can throw and try and get to stick. 3 weeks in, and I know I will never see a check. My priority is finding a job and paying my bills. I found a job on my own. So after a month without pay, on the edge of missing rent, I will hobble on, and the fake social safety nets can continue to fail and disenfranchise.
Abdul Majid Hadi: All is lie or discrimination, I found Job by myself and they never do what they say, they never buy car for me, they cancelled it my three quotations. It’s better not waste time there.
Casey Westbrook: I am so grateful for Michigan Works and the people who are there to help.
Lakenya Cummings: Pleasant and very helpful
Vern Davis: Had to file for unemployment. System was fubar. Added 2 hours to filing time.
John E Wilkins: They tried to help but wasnt able to
Renee Carmichael: Staff friendly, caring and attentivePlace was clean and quiet.
David Guild: I thought the place was going to be very busy but it wasn't! Walked in and was asked "how can l help you?" Very friendly staff. I signed in and they helped me get registered on MiTalent. Walked me through step by step. Very patient and helpful. Been their twice now and James was very friendly and helpful. Printed copies of my resume and saved it on a USB. VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. Looking forward to returning. Very professional.
Ken Jorgensen: Found a job because of a friend. Nothing to do with MiWorks. Now i think the career coach who ive never even met is trying to claim he helped me find it...or its because of MiWorks. Its not. I had a career coach leave on Jan.28. My new career coach did not contact me for over a month. Ridiculous. Felt all on my own in my job ssarch.
Doreen PRICE: Today was my first time going to Michigan Works. It was a good experience. The one on Franklin street was easy to get to. They have a large free parking lot. All the employeeswere super friendly and helpful. And the wait time wasn't bad. It was what I expected to be.
elizabeth Cartagena: I started my GED in Lansing Michigan work do they give same GED class here ?
Mandeeq Khalif: This lady so rude hang up on me for no reason when I am looking for job I will never come back this branch agian 🤦🏽‍♀️
eaglegrad 16: This Franklin office is unbelievably backward, compared to how they used to be. Time wasted making you fill out an old school ID form instead of just checking your license, update and print your resume, even if you did it that morning. When you're waiting to meet with your staff appointment. Just ridiculous.
Jacob Dake: Good service. In and out!
Beautiful Storm: Front desk can be rude at times. But other then that the staff are vary helpful

Allyson Haran: They replied quickly to my inquiries and was very knowledgeable
Stacy Lewis: I messed up I had personal issues I did quit three times they need so much help they can't keep employees I made the same amount for a year since the day I started but won't hire me back. At least I know I messed up and willing to admit it good luck trying to find another employee that was dedicated like I was and still am thanks Tim and Mark 😊
Sven Aytenein: This is the VP of RPO and Talent Acquisition?!? What kind of talent does this place find??
VEE VEE: Let me start off by saying.I try to review and searchout everything, And I've read peoples reviews very carefully, And sometimes people be upset/angry about what ever happened between that individual and the temp service or at the work place, How ever you have to ask yourself do I want to take a chance and except this job offer. or do I want to Believe all these bad reviews and mis out on money, and I'm not just saying this most of the ones I read was bad but you know what I took the chance and I'm glad I did that's why I gave them a five star Thanks EG Workforce Solutions in Grand Rapids MI.
Aleinny Benitez: This company is something else. They would call, text and email me thru indeed for weeks until I decided to accept a position with them. I did everything they ask me to showed up on my first day and was paired with the meanest and most rude person I had the displeasure of working with. After one day never went back to work there. They still try to get me to come back with them but yet is been 4 weeks and I never even got payed for the one day I worked. This are a bunch of crooks don’t bother.
Phyllis Boynton: I really appreciate them. It's great to find a job.
Laoshi Rich: Critical:ProfessionalismEngages in illegal robotexting to advertise positions. Tried to tell me I've been in their system 4 years, and I don't even know where their office is located. Got them to call me back so I could get their information and will forward a robotexting complaint to the FCC.
kelly Roberts: Very Unprofessional They Tend To Lean Toward More Urban People And They Never Have Any Jobs What A Joke Shelby Is Very Abrasive And Rude Please Go Somewhere Else.
Carol Crockett: Federal government needs to shut places like this down. This place is a complete joke. People should stay away from this unprofessional company.
Tigers Guy: OK jobs if they pay you on time. I know several people that worked for them and they are alwasys late on pay. There are better places to get a jobs in the area.
Marcee Chaco: Buisness hours suck they hook you up with a job that at the end of my shift theres no way to contact them. They also was late giving me my check which wasn't the amount owed . i know for a fact i had to of made more money than what was paid. Also its been 2 and a half weeks and refuse my direct deposit. Alls i have to say is that my check better be in my bank account in the morning!because yet again the amount owed does not say pending yet again the day before it's suppose to be approved to be in my bank..THEN Sarah one of the employees that worked at eg workforce solutions there, was asking questions about my child and my child’s father. If he wanted to apply he would have went to the window.Don’t worry about my family they’re good. If he wanted to talk to you , He would have acknowledged you in the first place. Sarah I know your single hunny but there’s plenty of fish in the sea!A staffing company is not a meet and greet. Do your job and find jobs for people who are looking for jobs!
Arthur Herrera: They screwed my little brother over with his pay, these people give you more attitudes than Mc Donald’s does
Amy A: Be aware! This company will use a bait job to get people to come in. Don't waste your time.
Brent Schmuker: They helped me with my resume and to get reassigned in a days notice

Chris Detwiler: Really great team helped me find a job fast
Asia Cook: This is a very convenient & helpful place to come to for employment!! :)
dee mack: Payroll issues and false/rude customer service. They will not place you at another job if you don't want to work the job the present to you and will tell you there are no jobs available. Quick to place a bad report on your file but don't like to face there mistakes and misleading info! There's better agencies out there. Seriously

Julia Petersen: Disappointing, unfortunately. Didn't match us with a single candidate in an entire month of searching. They also didn't offer an update or check in with us once during the time we had the contract open with them. They were quite derogatory about our position, indicating it was likely to be undesirable because "no one wants that type of job." Lucky for us, we hired an amazing candidate eager for the position through our own work. Express Employment Professionals came recommended to us, but I can't pass on the recommendation.Update: I've changed the review to four stars because the reach-out I got from management was excellent; they were empathetic and clearly understood the issue. I appreciate the great customer service they gave as we closed the conversation together.
Tyrijah Smith: 10/10 service, the were very kind and welcoming offering refreshments as they work with you to find employment
Doriatny Centeno: They are very polite ask if you want anything thing to drink lots of people working together to get us together
