Gillespie Funeral Services: what do users think?
Barbara Caraballo-Perozo: If I could give no stars, I would. They don’t respect the law. The next of kin means nothing to them. My husband died in December. We are legally married and have been for 17 years. The funeral home decided to go by word of mouth of a cousin, they have befriended. I ended up having to pay for an embalming that they wanted done and Why would you embalm someone who is getting cremated? I didn’t authorize till this day. I’m still waiting for the proper death certificate. Beware of this place.
Red Poetry: They drop people out of their caskets! Bottom line: they drop people out of caskets. Just because they’ve been around for decades, does not mean that they are a good funeral home. I wouldn’t let my pet ant have any services done by this incompetent funeral home. I also know someone who worked here.
Angie Creolehunney Lateise: Expensive, very overpriced and un professional. They lost my loved ones items sent from the hospital. I suggest O’field Funeral Home!

Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care: what do users think?
Joel Vogel: After my mothers passing and a horrible experience with a different Funeral Home I called Michigan Cremation & Funeral services. I highly recommend them! Working with Brent was great, he was exceptional! He was kind and patient and worked with me on every aspect every step of the way. I was beyond satisfied, thank you!
Rebecca Lyle: Extremely quick to respond to all forms of communications and made the experience less stressful. Everyone we worked with was courteous and caring through the entire process.
Cecile Wooden: Thank you for taken care of our Loved One.
Denise A. Kleis: When my husband passed at home on hospice care, the original funeral home that hospice had set up prearrangements with decided they would not travel to pick up the body at that time. Last minute arrangements were made with Michigan Cremation and Funeral and I found it to be a complete blessing in disguise. The gentlemen that came to transport his body were kind and caring, draped him in the flag and thanked him for his service to our country, was completely unexpected. The next morning I received a call from Meghan who was beyond professional an compassionate. She took care of retrieving Tom’s Army discharge papers, pre-wrote the obituary, and was there for me every step of way in a time that I needed help the most. When I picked up his ashes Meghan was there to personally go over every form with me, made sure I received the VA burial flag, gave me a certificate of appreciation for his military service that included a swatch from the flag that draped his body during cremation, and carried the burial flag to my car. In my hardest time of life with the loss of my husband, Michigan Cremation was the most helpful place ever. They are so caring and compassionate for the family of the loved ones lost that I would recommend them to anyone!!
Mike Alkema: Very happy with with the services we selected for my mother in law. Brent & Meghan were caring, compassionate and affordable.
Derek Moore: Very clean and respectful.
Michael Brown: My family and I highly recommend Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care. We worked with Meghan Kehr and she was so helpful with explaining everything and truly making a difficult situation as easy as possible. We would also like to show appreciation for the 2 gentleman who came to pick up my father upon his passing. They were very kind and respectful asking if we needed more time or needing to wait for anyone else to arrive. Also my mother really appreciated the beautiful quilt they used to cover him.
Will L: On March 19,2022 I lost my amazing, caring, loving & beautiful Mother 😢 During this difficult, sad & painful time Brent was very helpful & patient with me as this was a very heartbreaking & hard time. He shared a story of his loss in trying to comfort me. As this was a sad day & moment he did an amazing job with my mother's service!!! So Brent I want to take this moment to Thank You once again for all your help & dedication. Blessing's to you & your love one's!!!! The Medina's ❤️
Elsie Anne Owings: This organization handled the cremations for both of my parents. I had planned to prearrange my own cremation through them, but will probably go with a different organization. The actual cremation was nicely done, but that is subcontracted to Muskegon. The bodies were picked up promptly, also subcontracted to an off-duty EMT.That leaves the paperwork and communication, which led to several frustrations at difficult times.First, I had submitted the vital information on both parents in advance, but when the deaths occurred, the person taking the call had no access to that paperwork, leaving me scrambling to find Social Security numbers etc. with the body still in the house. (This was made worse by the fact that only the hospice nurse could talk to them. I could not speak to them directly on the phone, so all spellings and information had to be hollered to the nurse and then repeated to the office. All of that could have been avoided if their personnel had after-hours access to the original paperwork or computer entry.)Then I ordered a headstone and had to fill out veterans' paperwork at the monument company, only to discover that the funeral home already had those forms filled out but had not informed me.Finally, we had the ashes interred, and the paperwork for that was absolutely illegible. The funeral home blamed it on multiple FAXes and said they could not correct it because they did not have access to the original. (None of the FAXes were to or from me.)Looking for a lower-stress option. If you go through this company, submit the vital information in advance, but KEEP A COPY FOR YOURSELF so you can hand it to the nurse at time of death. (And keep an eye on the nurse to see what she lists as the cause of death. The nurses often just put something like COPD even if it's wrong.) Good luck!Update: Nearly two years after my review, Michigan Cremation replied: "...restrictions of meeting face to face during the state ordered shutdowns due to COVID-19 may have added to the confusion at the time of William's passing."This brings up a new question: Who is William? I do not have, nor have I ever had, a relative named William. My parents were Richard and Elsie. Mom died in 2018. Dad died on January 11, 2020. COVID had barely entered the USA at that time, and no restrictions were in place in Michigan yet. Those restrictions were in place by the time the cremains were interred in late summer, but not during the early days after Dad's death. My recommendation remains the same: clients should be advised to keep copies of all paperwork submitted to the funeral home because that information may not be available at the time of death. (Dad did not die in the middle of the night. He died at about 4 p.m., but it was on a Saturday.) Clients should also be aware that interment paperwork may be illegible. The cemetery caretaker said it was definitely the worst he had ever seen.
Denise Murray: Professional and kind.
Mim Carter: I am beyond pleased with the respect, professionalism, care, and comfort that Megan provided as she walked me through the cremation process for my Mom. Megan went above and beyond for me, and genuinely shows how much she truly cares for people even at the end of life.
Susan Hilden: Our experience with Charlene was absolutely wonderful! She went above and beyond for us handling all of our needs! She is incredibly compassionate and understanding! She is in the right profession!
peter vincent: Meghan was wonderful, professional and very efficient in handling my family member's needs. What could have been be a dreadful time, became an unforgettably memorable process. Thank you.
Chelsea B: I made my first call to Michigan Cremation And Funeral in the middle of the night only an hour after I had learned of my mothers unexpected passing. With it being after hours I was told I would recieve a call back shortly from someone to better assist me. I recieved a call back from Charlene in less than 3 minutes. From the get go she was extremely helpful in explaining the process and what my options were. She was incredibly patient with me as I tried to explain the nature of my call in between sobs and was understanding when I asked her probably 100 times to repeat what she had just said so I could be sure I was understanding everything with my clouded mind. She then followed up that same night with an email of everything we had discussed to be sure I had all of the information i needed and even called the next afternoon to check in with me. Through every step of the process she made sure to keep in constant contact either by email or phone to keep me informed of what was happeing and she was always willing to answer any questions I had whenever I had one come up. I was also able to complete all of the paperwork via email which was fablous since I live just over an hour away. I did end up running into a few hang ups with other people at DHS and social security and even through all of that Charlene made sure to help in anyway she could, including faxing documents repeatedly for me to the various offices that were giving me issues. She was honestly a breath of fresh air during this whole stressful and difficult situation and I cannot say thank you enough. Even the hard parts were made lighter and during the waiting period I had to go through with DHS I felt comfortable knowing my mother was in Charlene's care.
Robin Brown: Our family has needed the services of Michigan Cremation and Funeral Care three times in the last two years. Each time they have been caring, helpful, and always professional. They cared for our loved ones with the utmost respect and supported and the family in whatever way they could.
Julia Vanderwall: Charlene went above to help with my sister's unexpected death. She answered every question, phone call, email, and concern we had during this difficult process. Took it into her hands to help write the obituary and much more. She was professional, compassionate and so understanding. couldn't have done this without her.
Katie Nix: Losing a loved one is always hard, and dealing with the aftermath can be even harder. Our situation after losing our loved one was very tumultuous. Charlene made sure she did everything she could for us. She is amazing. Her job was not easy and she handled it so well. Everything ended up being perfect thanks to her and everyone here. Kyle Brewer and I will forever be grateful for everything they did for us.
Scot VanVleet: This is my second time using Michigan cremation for a loved one and I am very pleased with the service they offer. Megan does a great job on details and offers very helpful advice during the planning process. I would highly recommend them for your loved one.
Cheyenne Brown: From the man who picked up my father who demonstrated so much patience, kindness, and respect to the customer service I have received throughout this entire process, it would be impossible to ask for better customer service, compassion, or assistance. Charlene is truly a silver lining to a horrible experience.
Selina Ramirez: We had an unexpected passing which made things overwhelming. Michigan cremation was incredibly responsive and answered all the questions we had about the process. They were very kind and understanding while also providing professional service. We are grateful we chose them for our mom’s care.
Taylor Olson: MCFC was the third funeral home I reached out to. I wanted to find a funeral home I was comfortable with and MCFC did that. I worked with Meghan, she was so kind. Meghan did not rush us to make decisions, walked us through the whole process and answered all of our questions thoughtfully. The interior of the building was welcoming. It smelled of brewing coffee. After losing my husband, being in a fragile state of mind, I am so happy I choose to work with MCFC.

Memorial Alternatives Burial: what do users think?
Suzanne Livingston: We used them for cremation services only and found them to be courteous and kind.
dawn pietrusza: Very kind people. Willing to help. Offer good value for services and delivery of products ordered.
mia norma: My uncles viewing and cremation was here and the whole staff was honestly very inconsiderate and rude we had to fight with them to get more viewing time even though we were paying for extra time for the family no one got a single “I’m sorry for your loss” or “my condolences” and after we viewed my uncle they rushed us out the door with a “are you guys done” and not to mention the fact they could’ve prepared him a lot better than they did..
Bille Modzeleski: I contacted Memorial Alternatives to have them do the cremation of my father. My initial interaction was fine and I felt as if they would respect my family and take care of my father with care, compassion and respect.Lori, the secretary and I talked about 9am on April 15th. I told Lori I would like for him to be cremated on 420 (a day he celebrates) if possible, Lori told me she would do what she could, Covid19 was delaying things but she would try to have the death certificate ready to go and make that happen for us. She emailed me on April 15th at 11am letting me know things were possibly delayed, attached a link for urns/memorial memorabilia that we could purchase. (this link/email was sent to me 12hrs after he passed away). I sent the link to my siblings for them to decide what they would like. We all were in the process of deciding what we would like.On April 16th (TODAY) Lori emailed me with a copy of his death certificate, asking for verification that everything was correct so she could submit it to the county. I called her as soon as I seen the email, told her it was correct and asked questions about ordering memorial things from the book/link she previously sent me. During the call I asked about ordering the finger print memoriabila and how the process was done, what we had to do... and Lori said 'he is already gone' to the crematory... GONE, I thought! I said 'what, wait..gone' Lori and I went back and fourth and over our prior conversation. Lori, you told me everything was delayed, today is the 16th. Lori says - with covid19 we can't hold bodies and the medical examiner told us to send him. NO call to us, NO communication through email...NOTHING to let us know he was being sent or ask if we had a order to place from the link she sent us. Lori transferred me to Mark and he talked over me... argued that it was my responsibility to contact them with what I wanted to order from the link (remember we thought 420 was going to be a possibility, we still had time. Covid19 has delayed everything, according to the email Lori sent) Our father just passed away less than 48hrs ago...we are still mourning his passing, it is new and it still hurts. Mark (the owner) did not show me 1 ounce of compassion, not ONE. He was rude, combative and did not take one bit of responsibility for their irresponsibility in treating our family with respect. My father lost his battle with stage 4 lung cancer on April 14th, 2020 at 10:45pm, Hospice came and did their official pronouncement (by midnight) and then made the call for him to be picked up. It was about 1am when 2 men from Memorial Alternatives arrived to get my father, they came into my home with wet shoes, banged up/chipped my doorway trim into the bedroom where my father was at, threw a white sheet over his body, harshly wrapped it around his head, opened a huge piece of plastic bag 'like' material and struggled to respectfully treat my fathers body with dignity...they were going to put my father onto the gurnny in a position that would have his head tipped down near the floor/feet in the air as they tipped the gurnny to get out of the bedroom and through the hall, untill I asked "are you going to turn him so his head is up?" - Oh yeah... let's turn him, as they whipped his partially bagged body around as if it was a spinner on a twister game...I thought 'ok, let this go...dad is in Heaven, his flesh is here but his soul is where he's being respected'UNTILL... today and how I was treated. The lack of communication on Memorial Alternatives behalf, their lack of compassion and respect for our family and what they took from us by sending our father to the crematory WITHOUT notice, is not right! They took something they can never give back to us, closure and something special that we wanted... his finger prints on jewelry and memorabilia.I would NEVER reccomend their services to anyone. Horrible experience that will take a long time to heal from.
karen foster: Mark the owner did a fantastic job on my fiance by going over everything with me and lori did a fantastic job also she did an awr job with pictures
andy marcusse: They were very professional and made you feel comfortable. Would recommend to anyone.
nancy foote: They were there for us when mom passed last year. They explained what we needed to know. They were great with dad.
Don Cleland: Very professional, compassionate service at an affordable price

Brenna D: Everyone at Reyer’s has been so helpful—especially Christine! She has been so wonderful about communicating with us throughout the entire cremation process. We had originally planned to go through a budget crematorium (that’s what my very frugal, very Dutch father would’ve wanted lol), but I felt that I personally needed a little extra hand-holding during this difficult time. The customer service we’ve received has been outstanding! They’ve been helpful without being pushy or overly “salesy” in any way. The pricing was very transparent—there were no surprise fees and payment arrangements were very simple. I’ve felt so comfortable with everyone we’ve dealt with so far—the entire staff has been kind, empathetic, and professional. Losing a loved one is tough, but you and your family will be in good hands with the lovely staff at Reyer’s North Valley Chapel.

Stroo Funeral Home: what do users think?
Beth Fast: Best celebration of life I have ever Been to RIP Ruthy
Denise Duba: Stroo Funeral Home did a wonderful job with both my parents funerals. They remembered us every time we came in. Very personable. Would recommend them to anyone.
Richard Crandell: Professional, thorough, compassionate, graciously and beautifully done. Much appreciated.
Julie Ann: Picked up my Dad's ashes .. Mike Vos is absolutely amazing.
Edward Acosta: Mr. Stroo and his team provided us with caring, efficient and professional service in our time of distress. They were also very adaptable and capable of dealing with the changes that inevitably came up. I highly recommend them.
Mark Honeck: The care for the family with our loss was professional. A few details we're missed at the grave side they acted as if they could not correct as promised.in an email from the Funeral Home I was told my first post I shared was to full of opinion and not facts. So I'll rewrite and let you decide.1. When meeting with the director the people in the office at that time on a Sunday afternoon were not wearing masks. The family all wore masks at all times. Two have imune deficiencies.2. The Funeral was graveside. None of the three staff there ever put on a mask even though their work was within the 6ft. Social distance requirements. At one time we were sholder to sholder.3. Members of the funeral party there have immune dificienycy and we are all concerned about contracting the Covid19 virus. The entire Funeral Party wore masks outside the entire time. A baby was under a blanket or kept from the rest of everyone.4. I asked the staff if they had masks at the graveside or I would provide them with one but they all had masks. None of the staff wore masks at any time we were at the grave yard.5. When contacting the office I was give the state regulations and not a concern for the families welllbeing. We did not have the best of experiences because of family members health concerns. I do not know about the regulations but I can stay our concerns were not respected
Cheri Wilke: Stroo did a wonderful job with the service itself. However, I had a prepaid service for my mother. At the time of purchase I was told the money would go into an investment account (which it did) and the interest could be used how I see fit towards additional products, services, flowers etc. at the time of death I was told that the interest that was earned on moms account was to be used towards the difference in the price change (inflation) of the package that was already paid for. This in fact was fraudulent and they refused to call me back when I called several times to remedy the situation.
melanie plaunt: The services our family have received has been outstanding, we had major concerns financially, and you lifted that off our shoulders. We felt comforted in our worst time. We are truly thankful.
MICHAEL SAUCEDO: Michael at stroo was such an amazing person they took care of my niece arrangement and took a big burden off the family at such a difficult time thank you Stroo Funeral Home God Bless you
Donald Powell: I cannot recommend Stroo Funeral Home enough. This wonderfully run organization has helped our family though two of the most horrible moments imaginable. They work with class and dignity while walking you step by step through the process of honoring your lost loved one. They had the answer to almost all of our questions. If they didn't know something, they said so right away and then found the answer for us.Thank you to Mike, Lori, and everyone else who helped us at Stroo!
Vicky Sluiter: Our family has used them many times, and they always remember us by name. While they're a little behind in technology they more than make up for it in respect and caring. I highly recommend them!
Rick Irvine: Respect and Dignity! I can't say enough about how much I appreciate the way Stroo Funeral Home took care of my Grandmother after she passed. So Professional and Honest!

O'Brien Gerst Funeral Home: what do users think?
Lane Braun: I lost my wife and needed to find a place to take care of her. Gerst was so helpful and caring. They made a very difficult time in my life so much easier. I would recommend Gerst to anyone.
Thomas Mohr: Our family truly, Thanks the Gerst family for there attention to detail of my mother's final wishes.A beautiful organization that truly cares for your loved ones.SincerelyThe Mohr FamilyMove here in 1968
Wardens: Rarely do I encounter a person who is so well suited for their profession as David Gerst. David's level of knowledge and attention to detail were very beneficial to us, even in planning the smallest details. The funeral home as a whole provides exceptional service and I highly recommend them.
Ronda DeVries: OBrien Eggebeen-Gerst Funeral Home staff were so friendly and calm during our planning of the funeral. While helping us through one of the most difficult situations, they were patient, kind and explained everything In terms we could understand. After the funeral we were given resources to help with what needs to be done after the passing of a loved one including resources for mourning. I hope I don’t have to use their services again, but Would recommend them to anyone needing to arrange a funeral.
Orlando Peña: Gerst Funeral Home is the premier funeral service provider in the Grand Rapids area. Bar none. These gentlemen are true professionals.
Kim McNerney: Very kind and caring. Even after the services were completed. Would recommend to anyone. Not an easy process to go through, but make it easier on you.
Cathie Daane: Dave Gerst and his staff were amazing after the loss of my daughter! Dave was especially sensitive and compassionate, while helping me navigate plans for the memorial service during this pandemic. He even met me at the airport, when my daughter was finally returned home! The staff was caring, patient, efficient and available when I needed information and answers. I can't express enough how grateful I am for the help and care that Dave and his staff delivered during such a difficult time. I am so happy that I chose this funeral home to help me say my final farewell.
debbie weinrick: Bad employers. Fired a funeral director because she two days off for her Grandfather funeral. This is after they refused the director's request for 2 mornings off a week to be with Grandfather in Hospice. Employee offered to cover all night and weekend in exchange. Understanding she had only worked for them a short time but who would think a funeral home would not understand a death in family. Nasty men,
Tom Cullen: We recently lost my Mom - 94 years old. My sister and I live in the West and had lost touch with most of our friends, classmates and the community over the years (we're both in our 60s). Anyway, Dave Gerst, Joe, Kathy and the entire staff could not have been more thoughtful, compassionate and professional helping us plan and conduct the services for my Mom. They connected us with the nursing home staff, clergy, cemetery, wrote the obituary, helped with floral arrangements - even helped us plan the celebratory luncheon at a local restaurant. They were incredible and I want to thank them all and publicly endorse them for their attention to our needs. Dave even dropped off picture boards at my sister's hotel on Saturday evening because she had filled the ones she started. We are so grateful they helped us send Mom on her way with the love she deserved.
Joe Bevelacqua: It's a sober part of being a pastor- you perform funerals. I've worked with many funeral home over the years, and I've watched first hand at O'Brien Gerst: They take care of families well. Patient. Compassionate. Concerned. I would trust my family to their care.
Austin McKay: David Gerst was impatient and rude when the subject of money came up for the very first time. I was 27 years old when my father passed and i was treated like an incompetent child from the start of the first conversation. Go elsewhere.
Shalmai Keim: I wish I would of found some reviews on this place before randomly listening to someones suggestion and picking this place to handle my fathers remains. It is very unfortunate that funeral homes make you feel like another number, or as a business transaction. I didn't feel that warm welcoming feeling walking into this place. They were nice but not as kind as I would expect. Kind of like a doctors office. Not like someone who is handling your loved one who passed away. We moved forward because we were not in need of the full funeral service, just a cremation. And we wanted it handled and my father handed over so we could continue to follow his last wishes. I received an email that my father was ready for me to pick up and I called to try to arrange a time. When I called the receptionist was rude, she asked which funeral home was I trying to contact, well the one thats on contract which number is written, which is the one I called. I was put on hold and transferred to a funeral director who sounded completely unprofessional even stating over the phone how loosing someone "sucks". Then went on to ask me what my fathers urn looked like and if I was sure it was that location. I immediately became upset. My fathers memorial service was the following day and I've been trying my hardest to keep my composure after loosing him unexpectedly. I first should not be describing my fathers urn to a person whom was trusted to handle his remains. This should have been a smooth and painless moment. I made sure to inform this man of that but he was giving me excuses and defending his unprofessional actions. He said he would call when my father was located. He did and my husband picked up the phone to which the funeral home director complained to him how he had spoken to a woman who seemed pretty upset. My husband replied, rightfully so dont you think? To which the man replied in a condescending tone "I guess". No apologies were given.I'm sorry to say this but no part of my experience with Gerst Funeral Home was pleasant. I know loosing someone is difficult and emotions run high. But I would think someone in the business of dealing with families whom are grieving would be a lot more kinder, gentler and take professionalism very seriously. I would highly suggest you choose another location for your funeral arrangements. It is so unfortunate that I have to even write this about a place who should be so kind and go above and beyond in the first place. I dealt with Mark and David Gerst. And I am giving it 2 stars because I did get my fathers remains at the end and the girl I emailed with was very kind and helpful.

Neptune Society: what do users think?
Patricia Cooper: This was the very best experience I could have hoped for during an emotional and difficult time. I was able to make arrangements for my husband’s passing, earlier, and with one simple phone call, they took care of everything with heartfelt compassion. All I asked for was done❣️
Angela Sanchez: Johnna was so caring and amazing. Her customer service at such a hard time was special. Definitely will use there service again if needed. Thanks again for helping us.
Cynthia Smith: I was very pleased using Neptune Society out of Grand Rapids, Mi. with my husbands cremation arrangement. Elizabeth and Alicia were woderful to work with and very patient with me. Neptune is affordable, easy, informative and so much more. They contact the hospital, S.S office (if needed) arrange for death certificates, counseling, how to write an Eulogy & Obituarie. His remains could be mailed back to me or picked up at a locale Lansing, MI. Funeral Home.
Joel Veldheer: The presenter did a great job and the cost for what we are receiving is lower than expected. As he said, people in the '70s pay a low price but Neptune is covering all the cost anyway which is very important to know.
Chris Hale: Definitely, WELL WORTH the time and investment. So much better than I ever anticipated. I purchased "peace-of-mind" that my family won't be left with difficult decisions at a difficult time, nor left with the debt attached to it. Mark is AMAZING! Give him a shout.
EmaLee Birnie: Excellent experience!
Sobie Painting: My dad passed away during the Christmas holiday and the family was looking for a reputable crematory that could handle more than just the physical cremation such as death certificates, phone calls to social security, etc. We found neptune society. The level of courtesy, responsiveness and overall professionalism exceeded our expectations on all levels.
Pamela Mann: Neptune Cremation Society: I was very impressed with Neptunes cremation plan because it gave me a reasonable down payment and a even more reasonable monthly payment. The plan itself has so many benefits to it. They take care of everything as soon as they are alerted of your passing. And the salesman was very patient and kind. He worked with me every step of the way. If you’re looking for a cremation plan this is a very very good one to choose.
Sherry Fox: My parents were smart enough to plan ahead and they had arrangements set with Neptune Society in Nevada. My Mom passed in 2007 and the Nevada Neptune Society was wonderful.Several years ago, my dad moved to Michigan to live with me and my husband. We live up North - closer to Traverse City so the closest Neptune Society is in Grand Rapids. I called to see if his contract would still be good where we live, and they assured me everything would transfer - no problem. My dad recently passed so, we called Neptune Society, they connected us with Johnna Adair in Grand Rapids. She made all the arrangements with the local funeral home, and we didn't have to worry a bit! Johnna made us feel like we'd been part of her family forever and took care of us, as well as the arrangements for my dad.Thank you to Johnna and to the Neptune Society for allowing us to grieve without worry or concern that my dad would be well taken care of.
Inger Hammond: I was blessed with personal and outstanding service. Johnna was an angel through a dark time. Thank you for being such a blessing Johnna. She helped me with her knowledge, patience, kindness, genuine caring about how I felt and answered every question I had.Every single step of the process was met with a caring staff who was concerned first and foremost with my needs. They were professional and compassionate.
Jenny Marvin: This place is over priced. They charged my mother over $3000 for the same services that Simply Cremations only charges $1000.My mom had them set up to take the payments out of her account each month. Neptune Society has been paid off since August and they keep taking money out of her account still!!We have called 3 times now and they had even sent her a notice that the account was paid off in August but they still keep taking money from her bank! Now we have to completely close her bank account and get a new one. What an annoyance. We’re ready to call a news team and layer and let the whole area know what a scam these people are. If 0 was a rating I would say zero. Stay away from this place!
Ruth-Ellen Wiersma: Johnna was so good to work with at Neptune. She communicated well with our family and helped us through this difficult time with compassion and good care.
Maria klimaszewski: From the time we signed up in Arizona in 2015 or 2016 to the move back to Michigan and now the passing of mom the staff has been nothing but professional. Johnna Adair in the Grand Rapids Michigan office was highly caring during our time of grief and kept me apprised of the steps we needed to take.
Kion Regan: We had the greatest experience with the Neptune Society. From start to finish they were sensitive, competent and above all very very kind. I would recommend the service to anyone looking for a cremation after the death of a loved one. My father-in-law was a veteran and they followed up with all of the necessary documents documents and phone calls necessary to bury him at the great lakes memorial cemetery. It was really a very special service they offered.
Kevin Kilpatrick: Johnna and staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable helping our family navigate the process while out of state. They listened and advised us with zero pressure and total compassion during what would otherwise been a confusing and overwhelming time. I am grateful we chose Neptune to escort our dear Bill Euwer from this earth.
Richard Bengtsson: We had a very unexpected death in my family. The Neptune Society was a listed resource on an information sheet provided by the Medical Examiner as an affordable option for cremation. I did call some local resources in the Lansing Michigan area but they were all much more expensive . The staff I worked with at Neptune Society in Grand Rapids were compassionate and knowledgeable around resources including getting death certificates which they helped expedite. I highly recommend Neptune Society when you need cremation services.
Donald Pollard: Very straight forward and easy to work with. Showed genuine concern about my needs and satisfaction.
Susan Nelson: During the worst time of my life, I was very appreciative of the professionalism, kindness, and efficiency of the Neptune staff and process. I was thankful that my parents chose them. Thank you Neptune and Johanna.
Judy Hakala: Very pleased with the presentation given to us by Jeanne. Can’t say enough good things! Highly recommend her and Neptune Society!
Linda Blaney: y husband passed suddenly beside me and my life hit the bottom. My service manager took care of everything to my wishes, kept me informed, answered every question, gave me options available, and showed support, care, and compassion when I needed it the most. I found breathing and existence a chore, but the comfort I had was knowing that Carl was in the best hands possible. I would recommend this Neptune Society to anyone in need of cremation services. Thank you, Johnna, for everything you did for us in our darkest moments.Linda Blaney, wife of Carl Blaney. AMEN.
Cathy: We should have been provided with the contract and explanation of cost before we signed up. We were told we couldn’t see it until we signed. We were told that we didn’t want to read it because when the sales representative tried to read it it was mind numbing and she got a headache.. We were told that if our policy wasn’t paid off before our death Neptune would still provide the service and work with our loved ones in paying off the balance including making payments. This was different than what the contract said.We were told that our representative needed to call Neptune and then would take care of everything even if death occurred out of state however the instructions for the travel plan states clearly that it they aren’t contacted first so they could arrange transportation of the body the travel policy was null and void. The travel policy isn’t an insurance and it can be canceled at any time without notification and they will not refund your money if that happens. If a company won’t let you see the contract before you sign up including giving them the down payment RUN.
