Lucia Vorce: We are so disappointed with Talsma. Our shopping experience with the rep on the floor was great. But it has been less than satisfactory since then. We spent a lot of money to furnish our new home and took advantage of the 2 year no finance deal. When our furniture arrived we were missing an ottoman. They claimed it was not on the order sheet (not too sure how that happened). They ordered it at full price (not the sale price) and would not add it to our 2 year finance. Fast forward to 8 months later. The 2 living room chairs are already fraying. I was told warranty does not cover this and to use a device to remove. These chairs are barely sat in and not even a year old! I never would have chosen this fabric had I known it wouldn't even hold up 8 months! We are also having all sorts of issues with the billing department. They never sent one invoice or email. We thought we paid off the ottoman but apparently they have been applying the payments to the 2 year finance contract and are not charging us 29% interest! Ridiculous! Never again and I will never recommend them to anyone.

dwight oswalt: After waiting forever for our bedroom furniture we finally got it only to discover it was flawed. They sent their delivery guy to pick it up and he left our mattress on the floor for us to sleep on. After calling the store to complain they sent a guy out with a loaner frame so we didn’t have to sleep on the floor. Now it’s been a few weeks of barely any communication and after several texts we are finally getting our bed back. They set up our delivery for 9-12 so I stayed home rather then doing what I needed to do only to sit here watching the time tick by waiting. It is now after one o’clock and of course no call to say they will be late or if they are even coming. This is my last time dealing with Talsma. If your smart you will go elsewhere also

It arrived on time and the delivery team was very friendly, on time, quick and when I didn’t organize a way to get rid of my old sofa they took it with them for a very small and reasonable fee. After my fiancé and I purchased our coach at the store we waited somewhere around 3-4 months for it to be delivered. I didn’t mind the wait, I wasn’t in a hurry. Just keep in mind that delivery may be lengthy.

David Chrisman: My wife and I were into the Ashley Store on 28th Street SE over the weekend. We were treated very nicely by Michael and he showed us around at the dinette sets they have inside the showroom and then he left us alone to look as we really appreciate! He stayed at arms length but was available when we needed him like he just knew that perfect time to come around. We found Michael a very personable young man that took his time and answered all our questions and he had all the good information we needed to make our best decision. We were stopping there first on a list of several locations to go look for a nice new dinette set to seat 8 and other matching furniture but soon realized we had the right guy and the right place to just make this our one stop. He explained how the owners take great care in catering to Veterans as my wife and I met in the Army years ago. Both being veterans we really appreciate their wall of honor and the gong they ring as a veteran orders their furniture. It just shows that extra piece of care for their customers that makes the store a welcoming location. Missy Jelsma: Bought a $600 couch. Picked it up ourselves and when we got home, an hour away, there were no directions in how to install the legs. No predrilled holes for the legs or markings where they should go. When I called they told me I needed a special bit and should've been given instruct how to put it together. Nope nothing. So we went out and bought the drill bit. Now the L cushion sinks and is not as firm as the other cushions. When you sit on it the leg rest part pops up. I called to get this looked at and they said they would order a new cushion, which I was happy about. Was told it should be ready around 4/20. That day rolls around and no call. Called a week later and was told they did get a shipment of the cushions in but they haven't been sorted and I'd get a call when they sorted it. A week later and nothing. So I called again and they told me the same thing. They had a bunch in the warehouse and not sure what one is mine yet. Called a week later and the service person said she was ordering it and she would call me next week. Well now it's a week later. Still no call and I called to check on the status and the cushion still hasn't been shipped and no info from the manufacturer. They can come get this couch and give me my money back if they can't simply order a cushion or call people back. Would never recommend or will buy there again.
Rox C: Terrible management at this store, both value city itself and especially Acceptance Now. Eddy, the “manager”, who has “worked there for 5 years” is the most unprofessional and rudest person they could have hired to work that role. Refused to do his job, refused to escalate questions or concerns that I had, and to top it off, refused to give information on who his superior was, as if he owned the business himself. Do not utilize acceptance now at this location, as Eddy is beyond unprofessional. I hate that I had to select even 1 star. Terrible service.

Lisa Mueller: AVOID!! Went to this Grand Rapids location and the customer service was just terrible. We walked in and did get a casual hello from an employee who was restocking a couple items. We said hello and decided to patiently wait since her hands were full. She decided to just keep stocking more items versus help us and we just stood watching. She finally called over to another employee who was behind checkout counter, on her phone scrolling, back to us. This person seemed bothered that we needed assistance. We asked our ONE question, which was the sole reason for our visit, and she responded with, I don't know. She walked us over to a third employee who also responded, "I don't know, did you check the website?" At this point I was getting frustrated because the attitudes of all employees were such that I, as the customer, felt like I was burdening them. I told them I did check the website, but I hoped they, as the direct store, could more easily help me. It was at this point they started directing me to "just shop at Pottery Barn." I calmly made the point that when you are dropping this kind of money on nice items, one expects a bit more help in small issues, to which the third person (who CLEARLY did not want to be bothered any longer), said "Just go to Home Depot then." That was the moment I gave up. I work on home restorations, and I was working that day. I strongly feel I was typed as, not worth thier time, due to not being glammed up. That said, I do see MANY other reviews with the same customer service complaints, so perhaps it is just all people they dislike.I will NOT return, and I most certainly will not buy online. The demise of store fronts are not the online options, it's your total distain for the customers.
Next Go: While I like West Elm furniture, this store is a disgrace! People who work there are unprofessional and don't have answers to any of your questions. The salespeople are rude. One of them (Jess, her name) hung up on me when I called to inquire about the status of my purchase and told me that if I am unhappy with the 6+ month wait time (which was supposed to be 2-4 weeks), I should just go to another store. I later found out through the general customer service line that my order was never placed by the store. I am never going back to this store and will never recommend it to anyone.
Abby Ellis: Completely inept! My cousin bought me a gift card from this west elm, I ordered curtains with it online but they didn’t fit. I returned the curtains and I’ve been trying to get a new gift card returned to me for months! :( No one seems to know how to help, and each time they send a new card it doesn’t arrive. It’s baffling.
Robert Czechowicz: Avoid unless you want to be added to a marketing list they will never let you off, and get bombarded with relentless emails regardless of how many times you try to unsubscribe.
JG 2043: Overall decent experience with the furniture itself. But we've had a horrible experience with the coordination between West Elm and their delivery service provider (Ryder). We ordered living room furniture and it came in stages throughout 4 deliveries. There was damage to 1 item. Having that damaged item picked up and a new one redelivered took multiple attempts and there was consistent miscommunication between what West Elm told us vs. the delivery company. Only other complaint is that their rewards system on the card we opened for the furniture doesnt seem to be working correctly. Go pickup the furniture at the store if you can.
Neal Jeltema: No one greeted me or anyone else as we entered the store. I needed assistance, but no one even came out from behind the counter to check on me or the other customers.

Sarah LaGrand: It really is hit or miss at this store. Customer service varies from wonderful to really bad. Even though they have visually appealing and modern looking options, furniture quality is mid grade at best. Online purchase returns are difficult to return and my last experience with this made me wonder if I'd ever do online purchases through them again. I've been coming here since they opened this location and feel like in store customer service has taken a nose-dive in the past 2 years.
Robert Sriver: Nice looking items. Walked in with my 87 year old mother got a hlo from the women behind the counter but no offer of assistance, but boy were they enjoying their conversation.
Dee: Lots of upscale items. Modern furniture and home lamps, pillows, bedding. Prices do not include everything you see, must ask. Pillows don't include inside stuffed. Extra cost to ship and item to the store or your house if it's not in stock.

Laurie Huisman: Today I stopped at my local West Elm in Grand Rapids Michigan.I was in a rush shopping to stage a home and had my two year old with me who was just over shopping, plus I’m 6 months pregnant. The store clerks were great! Allowed me to run around quickly and leave things on the counter as I shopped.Betsy was especially helpful as my son squirmed in my arms asking loudly to leave.She was sweet and considerate and allowed me to bring my vehicle up to the store front while she finished wrapping and bagging my new purchases.She brought everything out to my car with a smile on her face.What could’ve been a bad shopping experience turned into a great one thanks to Betsy.Just wanted to make sure the West Elm team heard about her hard-work and dedication to positive customer service.
Fraser Dean: We bought a new house last year and wanted to fill it with nice custom furniture. We ordered with West Elm and they told us it takes 12-15 weeks. 15 weeks went by and nothing showed up and no one called us. We called their customer service several times and not one person could tell us where our custom furniture was. Long story short, they never found our furniture and the customer service was useless. The only solution they had was for us to put in another order and wait another 12-15 weeks for the furniture to maybe show up.
Quinn Humphrey: Visited with my wife and received amazing service from Betsy! She helped us select the perfect sectional in a durable material and color. She also took the time to answer all of our questions and make sure we felt 110% comfortable before making our big purchase. Betsy still gave us space to talk about it, but was available to help. Would highly recommend her to anyone on the market for a new piece of furniture!

michael glowacki: The store is fine but their online customer support is terrible. Everything is backordered and you cannot find that out until after you ordered it. If it is backordered the company won't charge you for it until it ships but they constantly reverify the charge so the charge just keeps going in and out of your account. I ask, can I just pay for the item. They said no all you can do is cancel the item. Finally I went to cancel the item and they said, sorry you can't it is getting ready to ship. So I hop off the phone again and I get two emails with two different dates saying it is backordered for the same item again. I call back and they say oh the last person I spoke to canceled the item. I didn't get notification or an email and that person told me it could be canceled? I am still waiting to see if I actually get an email indicating its canceled. Likely I will have to call and see what is going on for the 10th time. Since they just reverified the purchase I have to wait 3-5 business days for a refund after that. Do not waste your time with WE, go help a business that cares about their customers.Update: I got an email indicating they order is delayed and it wasn't actually canceled again. Spoke with a person on the phone who had no clue what was going on aside from it was just backordered. I wouldn't order anything from their online site.Update: I received another email the morning after saying the item has now shipped even though it is suppose to be canceled and I already ordered another similar item from another company for that reason...
Shelby Paler: Our experience first started with a call asking for rug swatches, which arrived two days after shipping. Very quick! Betsy was amiable and accommodating. A few days later, my husband and I traveled an hour to the Grand Rapids location, where Melissa helped us find the perfect rugs and dining room table. Melissa was very knowledgeable and hospitable.I would highly recommend this location and its excellent staff. We will be returning customers. Thank you, ladies!
George Crawford: Never delivered a gift card ordered online. No contact from their customer service except to say “how great their service is”. Have made no less than 8 emails and calls, only to be ignored. Have had to resort to doing a credit card chargeback, and seeking assistance from BBB. Definitely not recommended.
