Gvsu Family Health Center: what do users think?
Raenelle Bartman: I absolutely love GVSU Family Health Center. I have never received better care! I receive so many services in one building making things convenient. The staff is incredibly caring & understanding. They actually listen to you and help. Very fast and convenient scheduling!
Grey Barber: Because of the pandemic and moving I had missed my yearly check up and was nervous about seeing a new provider and filling out health paperwork for the first time on my own especially being trans, but coming here all the front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful through the process answering any questions I had in a clear way. I had an appointment with Jerrica and she was wonderful! Very welcoming and informing and made the space incredibly comforting for a doctors office/visit. She was personable and spoke to me directly pretty much the entire time. She was very quick to give me multiple resources for my needs and made clear every action her and her staff were taking during my visit. One of the best visits I've had, would highly recommend it to anyone whose LGBTQ+.
Ashley Brothers: I’ve been taking my kids here for 8 years. They let all of their good people go and left with junk. My son is ADHD and has autism, he’s on meds and he’s been without them for months because they claim they called them in but my pharmacy, that I’ve used for years, says they didn’t. Then they refused to call them in because they said they already did! So I try to transfer care to a better office go fill out all the forms and they don’t send any of my children’s information over! New office can’t do anything and I can’t seem to reach anyone about it. One NP tried to push adderall on my son (who’s 8!)and when I refused is when his current adhd meds were held from him(that’s how I feel at least). I will be putting in a complaint with a medical board as well. Taking away my sons medication that helps get him thru ABA therapy and drastically helps in his schooling is WRONG! Can’t seem to get ahold of anyone at the office now and I’m highly upset. DO NOT go here.
Devin Gibbs: Absolutely the worst doctors office I have ever visited. Staff were all friendly and inviting, ensuring me that the recommended added services were not going to cost any more while I was at my annual wellness visit. I received a bill for over $100 though, and called thinking it was a mistake. Apparently, when the doctor asks "Is there anything else you would like to talk about?" and you spend two minutes discussing other minor topics, they feel the need to add a huge charge to the bill. That two minute conversation took away the "preventative" status of the appointment. I feel that this doctor's office makes money their priority and will not work with their patients in any way. 100% would not recommend to anyone.
Nicolas Oudbier: Don't go here
Rik Horoky: I had a really upsetting first patient appointment and would not recommend this center for any transgender or LGBT patients. When I entered, my doctor was really hasty and didn't attempt to get to know me - she immediately began referring to my chart instead of speaking to me about my medical history, and I don't know why, but her tone was accusatory when running through my medication list. When finding out I was a transgender man due to the testosterone prescription on my list, she seemed flustered. For those that don't know, prescribing testosterone injections is like prescribing Ibuprofen for pain - it is an incredibly common, well-reviewed, and safe practice, and I have been on this medication for over 3 years now with no complications. It is critical to my care. However, they couldn't provide me with this because the prescribing physician, who she said can be a bit old-fashioned, did not approve it. This has never happened to me before. To not be able to prescribe testosterone to a trans patient in 2021completely demonstrates that this health center is not prepared (or willing) to serve transgender patients. This isn't even the most upsetting aspect of my appointment, but for the sake of this review and my privacy I'm leaving it at this. I don't want other trans patients to experience what I did - If you're LGBT, consider somewhere else. Cherry Health also takes Medicaid and has been great.
Kristi Rutter: I found a primary care doctor here and she is very through and nice! I had a great experience here overall. :)
Jeremy Mullan: I’ve waited almost 2 months for my specialist appointment and called to double check with my doctors office where the location was and was given the wrong address, now I’m waiting another two months…
Denise Bush: I think it's a nice place! Never a long wait!
ivelise Green: I love this office everyone is always so kind, helpful and prompt. They always take great care of my family.
Megan Foster Parent: This clinic is a hidden gem. The staff, nurses and Jamie Hendricks specifically, are the most caring and thorough medical staff one could hope for. They develop relationships with their patients and offer so much support and great medical advice.
Joshua Leffingwell: Great staff, and they have been able to get me in quickly when I have been sick.
Tabi Vance: WORST doctors office. They have screwed billing and insurance up so many times that I owed over 1000 dollars for two physicals and some meds. It’s been over a year and guess who has been sent to debt collector, and now there’s nothing I can do because “they can’t recharge insurance because it’s out of their hands now”. And when I called to have them send paperwork to the debt collector they wanted to charge me to do that, because it’s only free if they send it to another doctor. Uh, HELL no, you’ve already screwed up so many times why would I let you charge me again!? I’ve also have problems where nobody will answer the phone and I’ll leave a message to reschedule an apt and they will send me paperwork saying “you’ve missed an apt without notifying us, next time there will be consequences.” Please don’t visit here if you expect the secretaries to know what they are doing, or if you don’t want to go though a billing nightmare.
Tjames0220 D: One of the worst places to go. You sit and wait forever. The front desk staff is terrible. They have maybe 2 good nurses. The head of the place is a complete idiot. Don't know how he got his job
Meshelly Jelly (Mitchie Pooh): Horrible service first time patient went in for severe problem with my health tell me it's my weight....... Yeah went for a second opinion to the hospital diagnosed me with a a severe infection my weight was never mentioned they rush you and miss diagnose you, honestly can care less lazy practitioner (did the same tests hospital did.... Came back with the problem ohh but there results for my doctor came back I was fine bs)......do not waste your time here if you know there's something wrong with you listen to your gut go to the hospital they help and have more concern for you.

Park East Health Center | University of Michigan Health-West: what do users think?
Nelson Roberts: I was recently discharged from u of m 2122 health drive in grand rapids. This a great hospital to be if you need excellent care. I had a stent put in open a blocked arterie that caused a stroke. These people are extremely professional. They don't just care for their patients, they show it in the utmost way. Staff while I was there took excellent care of me. Jenna was one of my nurses as well as Katrina. I was in room 408. I am recognizing all nurses, techs and doctors but these young ladies engaged with their patients in care and found time to just talk and provide personal nurse to patient information. Kudos again to all
Ashley Thelen: I stopped going to University of Michigan Health West after several poor prenatal experiences at this facility. First and foremost, you are purely just a number here. Your visits are in and out, you see the doc for maybe 15 mins - and that's only if YOU come with questions. Otherwise, they basically just check your heart rate, blood pressure and leave. Even on your first pregnancy, they don't take the time to educate you on what's happening, what to expect, etc. On top of that, they take advantage of the fact that they are tied to a hospital and bill as a hospital when they can, despite being considered a primary care provider by insurance. That means patients pay more for everything - for example, I was charge over $100 for urine pregnancy/drug etc tests. The first was done four weeks before it should have been done (when I was coming in to see a PA for prenatal questions at 6 weeks on my first pregnancy vs my 10 week first prenatal visit when it's supposed to be done) - I lost that baby and they refused to own up to doing the test too soon and still made me pay. My second was done at the right time, but was somehow MORE that time. Had either of these tests been processed like they would through primary care or even an offsite lab (vs a hospital), they would have cost me my $20 co-pay, that's it. But since they have the ability to bill like a hospital due to their affiliation, they can line item every little thing they do - racking your bill up with charges that apply toward your deductible. I've called the billing manager 5 or more times since March, no response. She finally responded to a billing message on MyChart, just told me everything was processed fine (twice), then stopped responding. I'm disgusted at the lack of care and empathy this facility has demonstrated. You're in health care, this is VERY personal to people. I LOST my baby and they couldn't muster the humility to own up to their mistakes and take away the payments that had to remind me of that lost baby each time. I will never go to a UM medical facility again. (By the way, I switched to Spectrum and my experience has been a complete 180 - between the nurses, doctors, and even the office manager. Much more personal experience, you can tell they actually care about their patients.)
Cheryl Mesecar: Awesome !!!
Kollin: Metro was Great METRO HEALTH WEST is terrible. Long waits on replies, takes 3 weeks plus on blood tests for results. My Whole ER visit does not show on my chart. GOODBYE METRO and Hello SPECTRO Wealth.
Awilda Black: Very disappointed waited over a half hour just to be called back. To sit another 30 minutes
Carole Sluce: Podiatrist was great
Christina England: Had a hysterectomy yesterday. Staff was awesome. Hospitality was exceptional. Dr's truly listened to the patient and put the patients needs first. Far better service than anything from spectrum.
Phyllis Green: My husband had wonderful care during his stay at Metro. In total he was hospitalized for 7 weeks totally do to his fragile condition. Sometimes we don't expect to come home after very serious illness and infection. My family is eternally thankful for all they've done.
Dana Lowe: Work up for what is obviously a sinus infection. I jump through hoop of take the flu and covid swab, knowing like the other 6 times it will be negative, but hey it can't hurt just in case. Meanwhile my head and sinuses are pounding, my ears are plugged, I've got drainage going down the back of my throat to the point its so raw I can't talk above a whisper without excruciating pain. Because of my Alpha 1 condition and I do have pain in my right side I'm great with doing lung xray even. But, 1st problem when all other tests come back negative including for viral it points to bacterial infection. Never is this more true then for an Alpha 1 patient. When even your discharge paperwork says infection why oh why is there no antibiotic to go with it? 2nd problem, I point blank asked about something for my sore throat. Was offered a steroid shot before the tests. Somehow after the tests that shot was now off the table. Standard of care for any Alpha 1 patient when you diagnose any kind of respritory INFECTION is antibiotics. The reason I came to urgent care on Sunday is because I know how ugly this can be by Tuesday (when my primary care doc can see me) FROM EXPERIENCE. But I was sent out with NOTHING, no relief, for anything and a tuff it out till Tuesday. I tried to save ER from a minor condition that should have been handled easily by urgent care instead but I see from now on I should always go to the hospital where the ER doctor knows what standard of care for Alpha 1 is, instead of just winging it and hoping the patient will be ok by the time they get to their family doctor. This urgent care trip was worthless!!!!
Brit K: I had a procedure done with Dr. Steven Lown, who was great! The staff was friendly and Dr. Lown put me at ease for a tough procedure and was very caring, provided a lot of knowledge, and took his time. Thank you Dr. Lown!
Coleen McLellan: I tend to be a mess before surgery. The experience at your hospital was very very helpful. I would like to thank you all; especially Tisha in pre-op, Cher Nurse tech, Leah RN, and Rachel in recovery. Everyone does their job well and we’re comforting, and very helpful! Also, thank you Dr. Pete!
Benjamin Hood: Very rude staff my gf came in for a check up and had positive pregnancy test and we asked for one there just to be sure the front desk lady was very rude and talked down on my gf same with her ob willNever use metro health again who discourages someone from having a baby
Ann Peliotes: Arrived and check-in took about 12 minutes and was asked for my full social security number in a non private environment while patients were sitting right behind me. Then I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to go back into the lab. But I wasn't the only one asked back, three other people were collected at the same time. One of the patients were in the wrong area so another delay.. No rhyme or reason in the rooms we were placed into and sat & waited there for another 15 minutes. Sooo unorganized. Will never return to Metro Health labs again! Would NOT recommend this Park East lab on Cascade road to anyone! Spectrum Health labs are way more efficient!
Melissa Ann: Easy on, off the highway. Traffic is a little aggressive when trying to get back onto the highway, so be careful.
Deonnie Dearmon: Receptionist gives me a hard time every time I visit there with residents from my AFC. Makes us wait a very long time first thing in the mirnung, even when there's no patients in front of us to be waited on. I think she waits purposely before forwarded the check in information to lab or other dept. They need to replace her!
Taylor Scheidel: I just had surgery there this past Friday.( Jan 10th) My laparoscopy went well. My doctor(Getz, her assistant, the anesthesiologist( Dr.Ahmed) were great! However , Some negligence occurred. I was told I was going to be sent home with a printed copy for post op medication. I was very groggy from the anesthesia and they gave a folder with papers in regards to my surgery. I thought my script was in there too. I got home and take a nap and I woke up in some pain. I went to go through my folder for the script and it’s not there! One of the nurses practically pushed me out the door as well so they forgot to put in my folder! They had one job! I’m getting a lawyer and suing for negligence. It’s now the weekend and I can’t get hold of my primary doc, Dr. Getz or a surgical center cuz conveniently, it’s closed! Make sure you patients have their needs met BEFORE they leave your office. I’ve been writhing in pain all weekend because of this place. I better be repaid for this negligence!
