Women's Resource Center: what do users think?
Brittany Maclin: This is a hidden gem of resources
Linda Green: Map won't show not right location
Pat Mollema: I went to the Women’s Resource Center quite some time ago. They helped me get a job at the (only) phone company! I was going through a divorce and pretty “down”; they were my “cheerleaders”! I retired from that fantastic job 23 years later! Now I encourage young women to give them a try!
Michelle Smith: Love this place and the lasies.that work and to volunteer
Connie Farrell: Great resource for women two grow
Cheryl Schenk: They are so helpful. The classes and workshops are wonderful. Helped alot. They have a clothing closet to help get a professional outfit for interviews.
Christine Raynes: Great place!
Jamie Fron: Friendly staff, they're very helpful if you need interview prep, job coaching and even resume help if you feel as if you're stuck or need practice.
davetta gilmore: Friendly environment
Chip Longcore: My sister was in bec she was having a lot of pain issues bec she is 8 month pregnant and the doctors and nurses did everything to make her feel comfortable and help her with her pain..This place is amazing..
D Lanesky: Can b a wonderful source for women. Will help with many problems 4 a woman returning 2 the workforce.
Gladys Martinez-Cisneros: Very helpful
C Busfield: I have used their services while unemployed in the past. You can meet with an advisor to guide you through the job search process. They have their own help wanted resources, they offer training programs, mostly related to the use of computers, word, etc as well as job interview skills and writing a resume. They even have appropriate clothing available for job interviews. Most if not all of these services are free.
Brynn Taylor: They help with all your employment related needs
Jasmine Thuc: This place is one of the best resources in Grand Rapids!
Mike Lessens: Excellent place for women in need of help in entering/re-entering the workforce. That includes help with resume' writing, teaching of successful interview techniques (with no cost, available, "dress-for-success" clothing at their onsite, "Clothing Closet") and improving computer literacy. Be all you (women) can be (and, most likely, already are). I am a man and this place will get you back on your feet and contributing to our West Michigan workforce. You can do it. Relax. Retrain. Regroup. GR Women's Resource Center will be in your corner every step of the way.

SowHope: what do users think?
Maria Suarez: Gracias Sow hope por el gran trabajo que hacéis!!! Por luchar con tanto entusiasmo por ayudar a tantas mujeres de todo el mundo que sufren de verdad.
Colleen DeGraaf: Keep up the good good work of Sowing Hope to women around the world!
Treasa Bell: This is an amazing organization that helps women who can't help themselves. Great nonprofit.
Fallen Lahey: Reading these stories, and learning about this organization has been consuming my freetime for the last month, and I'm obsessed with what you guys do, and I've been hoping that I can think of something just as amazing, empowering, and inspiring some day. Keep up your great work!
Kenna Buehler: SowHope is such an amazing organization, and their stories are just amazing! It touches my heart to see people go out and help women in poverty, and maybe to some people it'll seem wrong to help women, but in the poorer places men only work where they can make good money, but the women have to work no matter the situation. It's truly inspirational to see Mary go to these places and help women make a difference in their communities! Keep up the great work SowHope!
Ginger Sisson: What to bring good into the world? In those places where women often have little education, poor health facilities and seldom can afford to send their children to school, SowHope offers them wellness, education and economic opportunites. Working with women in India, Thailand, Bangladesh and Congo, native women act as leaders in their community. For an average cost of $35 per woman, the transformation in their lives and the lives of their children is profound! Your dollar goes further here!
Yasseen Mobada: The owner of this group came and spoke at our school and said things such as men like war and men do not return loans. I will not donate to an organization that goes by this.
Aaron Hoxworth: Great nonprofit doing important work every single day.

YWCA West Central Michigan: what do users think?
Kelly Fitzgerald: I was hospitalized over one of several ongoing assaults by my partner. No help. I called for two weeks after that, several times each week, I'm working with a social worker from the police department, I've done the shelter assessment.....I called today and they have no record of any of it, including the assessment. These people are funded by whom? They absolutely have not been there in time of absolute need.
sadie Weed: I work there
Diane Boysen: Very poor that in an emergent situation you cannot get through to anyone on the phone.
Brenda Nawrot: Great staff, friendly environment
Tray Parker: A year and a half ago I called this place. My ex had just missed my head with a bullet. I called YWCA and they had spots open. She asked me a series of questions and one was if I left would he follow me, I said no but maybe I really don’t know and she denied me a room even though they had space because I was in distress from what had just happened. I said so what I wait until I’m almost dead? This place gets donations to stay open and to help women of domestic violence. I’m so disgusted with this place!
Sophia Cole: Says they only deal with intimate domestic violence. However, helped my sister with the same issues I am having now with my mother's husband.
Nikki Oom: Friendly ppl very supportive
Raymond R: A great place and great people that love others if you need help with anger or issues with domestic or healthy relationships give them a call
Camee Mae: I can't even put into words how amazing & wonderful the people at the wyca are. They went above & beyond for my niece & I am so incredibly thankful for them. They helped us through a very difficult time & seriously are the absolute best & most caring people on this earth.
Lish Brooke: My friend went here for a court case thinking she would be safe with information she gave to a counselor. They are mandated to tell the court specific things they didnt advise her of. If you are involved of a court case be weary. They work for the court and something simple may turn into you being reported even if it has nothing to do with you or harming someone else. It's hard to actually get help when you have to worry about these things.
aarone wild: Tai Chi
Jean Farrell: I love the pool and spin classes.
john scoggins: Great knowledgeable and caring staff
Nicholas Janose: Amazing staff!!! They make things so easy and are so helpful!!!
Thomas Holmes: Safe Connections is a joke that would not survive the scrutiny of an external audit. It exists because, for now, it's very nature is one that would prove un-PC to question.
Rae Kelsey: Very clean. Friendly workers.
Karolina Ramírez: I you want help for domestic abuse ... This is the right place
Chandra A: Great place for help!!
Sarah Miller: This place talks a big talk about safety with the kids, but this is ALL LIES! They allowed my X to walk out in front of us. When he is supposed to stay 10 minutes before we leave. For my safety and my child's! They allow him to speak to her about future hopes and dreams. AKA False promises. They do not follow their rules at all. If you can help it for supervised visits use a different place! They are horrible!
Gregg Robinson: I brought an individual to the facility. He was treated well and all of the folks that we ran into were polite.
A. Johnson: I found a safe place to work through childhood sexual abuse through 1 on 1 councelling and group therapy back in the early 90's. I was heard. I was given healthier strategies to deal with the memories that would pop in unexpectedly and a name for the condition; PTSDI'm sure things have improved in the last 25 years in regards to the childcare available during councelling sessions- or atleaest I would hope so. The staff was sub par back then. All my best who need real support 🍀

Alex Zock: Love to help!

Antonio Parker: Good place to go to.
Paul Townsend Lamb: New renovations are almost complete…stay tuned for updates.
karen garcia: Hello everyone it was my pleasure and honor to be able to stay here at degage for 5 months I just loved all the staff and the cooks playing bingo was my number 1 game I loved my fingers painted 8 or 9 years ago them were the days I ment alot of beautiful cool people I miss you all degage ... God bless you all ...Karen Garcia:) :) :)
Douglas Goff: Bravo De'gag'e I've been going for more then 20 years and what used to be a little run down over crowded very noisy place to eat and catch up on the gossip the coffee used to really suck I mean bad......stail donuts etc. Now oh boy what a change its bigger and better in every aspect except the coffee.
Tammy Oaks: Very nice staff there, and very kind.
Bryan Lanz: Umm)) good food for 2$
RENE L.: I have to say this organization has completely lost my faith in them. I was homeless for a brief period in 2014 and this organization helped me greatly. And I appreciated it so much that when I became stable again in 2015-17 I volunteered their for almost 2 year's. Now again my depression has affected my life making me homeless again and sadly almost all my experiences here in the last few months have been negative. The current staff is a mixed bag a few still treat you with compassion and respectfully. But a good majority seem to be bigots and/or racist. These are personal observations as well not second hand from things I've observed. Especially with the kitchen staff. Who seem to have trouble getting along with each other so they turn their disdain and anger on patrons. If I worked at restaurant and insulated a patron in front of the entire restaurant I would be fired on the spot. Yet these people do it multiple times a shift and still stay employed. After my visit yesterday for dinner where the black woman cashier treated me so rudely and in such a way that almost everyone in the dining room stared. I will never eat here again. As I left quit angry several other patrons were like don't worry about it. Or you'll get used to it. BUT you shouldn't have to get used to it. Especially when an organization's tag line includes the words "by treating people with dignity and respect!" I spoke to her respectfully and she talked to me like a disobedient dog. This is the 3rd time she's done so and the straw that broke the camel's back.Hopefully people in charge here will remember the Degagé mission statement and bring back the respect and dignity because as it stands now it's lacking. Don't get me wrong there are good people here but sadly enough bad to tip the balance to the negative.Update 9-12: I have decided that I will not return here for any service. Because apparently now appearance is Degagé's only policy. They were having a meeting this morning so the cancelled some services including shower's. After all we can't have people coming in that may donate seeing real homeless people. I still laugh about how they had hired actor's to pretend to be homeless for background during the grand opening news pieces.MANY people rely on the shower service here especially since there is only 1 other place for displaced people to get a shower on the weekend and many people avoid that organization. When I was asking the nice lady Crystal why their was no notices posted about this the black gentleman security guard sitting a few feet away got up and told me "Don't do that!" apparently saying Degagé doesn't allow freedom of speech. And asking questions or voices dissatisfaction is not allowed. I wasn't yelling or shouting or being at all rude but he treated me as if I was. He said no one knew about the meeting until this morning and when they found out they announced shower's we're cancelled. That announcement came at 9:40 am. 40 minutes after shower's are supposed to be available.Oddly 2 of the female patrons that use the woman's shelter said they were told last night in the morning they would have to store away bed frames. Because of a meeting in the morning. But either way apparently no one even after being informed could take a few minutes to print a couple notices and post them. They need to take down that big fancy sign expressing their moto. Because I see zero faith and even less dignity or respect for patrons
Catherine taylor: I have Ben there in the past and the staff are very helpful and they help people with a lot of resources and I would recommend other people to get the help they need here
Michael Waldron: They’re improving every day. They do very good work.
Harley Aldridge (HarleyAnnAldridge1): Won't recommend going here for any help unless the volunteers like you. They've refused to help me and I've had important mail delivered to that location for 4 years now and haven't received any of it.
Larry S Olthoff (DJ insane): Good place good stuff but it is on division where there's a lot of drug addicts and alcoholics around all the time
Diane Lanesky: This is Not a pic of Degage
Erica Chittenden: This is a great mission...
RICHARD Glover: The staff that works on second floor are Great the client not so much. They don't help with bus tickets or anything besides coffee is quater and a free 🍩 breakfast is 2.00
Jen: This place is a Valuable Asset to the Community. They provide Many services to the Homeless Community and to low income families. Meals, Showers, Mail service, Hair cuts and shelter. You have to call to find out what services they provide. Very Friendly people who seem to Honestly Care about people. 😁

Safe Haven Ministries: what do users think?
Kelly Fitzgerald: I have been trying to get shelter for two months. In that time I've been severely beaten at least three extra times, once with hospitalization. No availability. No help of any kind coming from Safe Haven. Each time I call they want to ask me the same series of questions and chit chat.... Which of I'm on the phone with a shelter...I am in extreme danger and lucky to be on a phone in private. Asking my things like, can you go to your neighbors? I do not have neighbors. Some of the time I am kidnapped and held against my will. ... No, I haven't talked to any neighbors. If you're donating to this place...think twice.
Leslie Wright: The experience I had with Safe Haven Ministries changed my children and I’s life I walked away with a deeper sense of faith in my spirituality. I needed a safe place for my family a safety plan their is no other place I felt more secure. The relationships I formed with some of the staff was heartwarming, you could tell they truly cared. Although at times their was only So much they could do to assist you with getting those breakthroughs in your plan. They offered therapy which helped tremendously just having a atmosphere to process and face your pain you don’t come across that type of support often. Absolutely no judgement and other women to talk to. The bonds I created with the other women felt like one amazing sisterhood the services they offered helped you feel as though you weren’t alone. The strict policies can be stressful when your already facing a lot of adversity it’s important to have a plan in mind and stick to it.
dougie congdon: Looks like a great program!
Shannon Ploeg: Very nice place and staff all vary helpful
Erika Adeniyi: This place saved my life. Plain and simple. I will forever be grateful for their support, resources and compassion.
Veida Queen: These people are evil monsters. They will make the hardest time of your life a million times harder. They are mean, judgemental, liars, and plain ol cruelto people already suffering a nightmare of an existence. They will take everything you have and set it a blaze. Ruin what little you have left of your life.
Janice Pruett: I needed a place to stay. Too busy!!
A. T.: I have no direct experience with their services, though said to be excellent from sources. I am disappointed in the fact that I offered my time to volunteer. Applied in the spring and called a few times. I was never contacted. I was available to offer my time from spring to fall. I have experience in this field, and was a leader/community service scholar in college. I'd suggest improving promptness and follow up to be improved. All the best.
Twist: Helpful
Mindy Chapin: The most kind and professional staff I have ever met! Very friendly and professional Workspace!
Wafa Haddad: God Bless you
Jamie Hairston: No help
M D: Goid people
Rhonda Almas: Go there when you need help. You'll find direction
Laurie Noyes: If you are in trouble they will help you. This is a confidential, private place to get help.
K Scarry: The work that Safe Haven does in Grand Rapids is profound. I have had the opportunity to participate with them as a volunteer and have had a wonderful experience every time. The staff is kind, professional, and clear about volunteer opportunities and expectations. They do a good job of helping you find a place that you fit well as a volunteer within their ministry. I have also attended some of Safe Haven's events in the community- specifically their Fashion show and their participation in the River Bank Run. Each of these events provided space for the community to learn and engage together around ending Domestic Violence and working towards healing for survivors in Grand Rapids. I can't wait to continue working with them!
