517 Coffee Company: what do users think?
Katie Castaldi: Truly great coffee made by excellent people. Every place in town I’ve been to and thought “wow this is good coffee,” turns out it was 517’s coffee. The shop is nice to visit, and then you learn they make their own caramel syrup? And they have compostable cups? 11/10 Best Coffee Shop in Lansing
Taylor Rae Cichocki: Hands down my favorite coffee shop in the area. Owner is down to earth and easy to talk to, and the coffee is always phenomenal. Don’t hesitate to try this place.
Kailyn Lawson: This place is so wonderful! The folks are so kind and welcoming. And the coffee is fantastic! Can’t wait to come back
Devin Silvia: Haven’t had a chance to stop into their actual coffeeshop yet but have been buying their beans for a while now and enjoyed them enough to commit to ordering a 5 lb bag and the owners hand delivered it! Really good local coffee. Highly recommend.
Joseph Dalian: This is the best coffee in the city, my fiance and I come in a fair amount and I can't speak highly enough of 517, everyone here is so friendly and accommodating. My fiance is vegan and they have alot of options for her and everything taste SOOOO GOOD! If you havnt had the chance make it over there!!!!
Kim H: Went in looking for a strong dark roast. The Ethiopian coffe was recommended. I was hoping to buy a small amount of beans to see if I liked the coffe but it was only sold by the pound. It was neither dark or strong. It certainly has an interesting taste but just not what I was looking for. The baritista was very friendly. Unfortunately, I have a pound of coffee that isn't to my liking. I would definitely go back and try a cup though.
Evan S: Liked the decaf colombia pourover a lot. Barista (owner?) told me they pay attention to their decaf, which is appreciated
YEldArb Eldracm: Delicious coffee, friendly service.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Rina Risper: The holidays are coming! We buy bags as Christmas presents. They have gift cards as well for your favorite person, business or neighbors.
ChaosGossamer: Nice store very friendly staff
David LaLone: Great baristas. Great coffee.Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Aaron: Went with my family and we ordered a double shot of espresso, cafe latte, batch brew, and pourover. Everything tasted great, the owner was friendly and has great customer service. A rare find to have specialty coffee on this side of Lansing and at a great price. Highly recommend and will be my regular spot for coffee when I'm in the area.Parking: Easy to find parking around the buildingWheelchair accessibility: Front door can be accessed with a wheelchair
Matthew Friar: Well located and great coffee. Don’t miss 517!
Justin Wood: I really liked this place, it's a small coffee shop for a quick cup. Not really a lounge around type of place. More of a grab a donut and a coffee to make it to work with 5 minutes to spare.
tesia w: first off, this place just served me the best scone I’ve ever had. I wanted to post a photo, but it was so good it’s already gone.aside from that, I enjoyed my experience here. the building is pretty unassuming from the outside, so it feels like a little hidden gem! the barista was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and the service was fast and efficient. definitely will be back!
Maria P: Super cute little coffee shop, the people are always friendly, the donuts taste great and the coffee is amazing
Painless Nate: I had a baklava late and it was very good.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Lee Rodney: Sooo happy to get such a good coffee near the highway. We also picked up some beans and are enjoying them as well on our weekend vacation. Great place to stop on the way to West Michigan.
Mary Avery: Great coffee at a reasonable price. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. She is a student at my favorite school
Guaca Porfa: Ive stopped here on my lunch break a couple times and the staff are always friendly and the coffee is always great!
Marylee Trevino: The coffee was cold so he heated it up in the microwave. Then he short poured the iced tea. I brought friends from out of town. It was awkward and disappointing.I’m editing my review because I always support local small businesses when possible, and I truly believe the response to this post does more damage than my original review. So, I will leave this review up for a day or two before I delete it entirely.I wish you nothing but success and happiness. My unsolicited advice would be to concentrate on the experience your customers are having. Make them feel special.

Above The Roots Michigan: what do users think?
Peggy Vaughn: I placed an order and received confirmation of the order (May 5) and our bank account was charged. However to date (5/25) I have not received the product I ordered. I have called 5 times and left a message each time but I do not get a call back. I believe this site is a scam. Be very careful!

Coffee Barrel: what do users think?
Lauren Hryniewiecki: Coffee Barrel has the best variety of coffee, both bagged and ready-to-drink. From their lattes, to their daily brews and cold brews, we always try to get something different, and everything has been consistently AMAZING, and the service is so friendly!
Mitch Eaton: Best coffee in town without a doubt!
Clara: Delicious smoothies and coffee/tea options!
Jen Young: Always so nice and courteousThe Peanut butter mocha is great!
Shaina Marie: Love this place! Great coffee and awesome atmosphere.
David Cox: Great coffee and good people.
Marissa Burcham: I’ve been searching for someone that sells Stirling syrups for months. My favorite coffee shop from my college town used them, so I really wanted them for making my own coffee when I moved away. They were surprisingly hard to locate, even from the manufacturer! Finding Coffee Barrel was such a relief. And the shipment came so fast! Looking forward to more in the future :)
Dani Jones: I highly recommend the iced blueberry muffin! The vibe inside was perfect for getting work done (or chatting or playing cards, as others did while we were there)
Bryan Likes to eat out: Really enjoyed the coffee shop. Really annoyed with people spending hours on one cup of coffee and their laptop. Taking up an entire table. I think they need to shut their Wi-Fi off to get rid of the parasites but anyway, the coffee is great. Every type that I have had at the coffee barrel.
Sarah E. Ellul: Pros: First, the coffee is great! They are very good at what they do and the coffee selection is incredible. The employees are knowledgeable and kind. They also have public WiFi which you don’t find always however.., this leads to a con…Cons: this is not a coffee shop you can be in a hurry and think you’re getting your latte/frappe in 1-2 mins. A bit slow, and the atmosphere is a bit boring/dated but still cute. But no breakfast sandwiches/protein/yogurt, just Risen bakery items. Also, no places at all to plug in your devices for charging for people who are wanting to use this as a relax place. :☹️Anyway to get some ground floor or low wall plugs installed? Overall cute, I come over to visit when I have appointments in the area, stop in and will continue to be a customer, just think improvements could be made.
Nelson Pino: Decent coffee with great staff. Thanks Tiffany!
Jessica Rieke: One of my favorite coffee shops around. Beverages are delicious, but the locally roasted coffee can’t be beat. So many different flavors to choose from - caffeinated AND decaffeinated. Highly recommend!
shelli Kwiecien: Roasted on site
Nicky B: What an amazing little coffee shop. Comfy industrial set up. Great choices of drinks and the barista was super sweet. She suggested a blackberry syrup for my iced coffee when I asked input on my order, and she absolutely nailed it. It was an excellent drink, the blueberry muffin was unreasonably tasty, and the service was spot on. Check this place out.
LeRoy Harvey: One of the best selections of fresh, roasted coffee in the region. They also have green coffee beans if you want to roast your own. The atmosphere is friendly and there are tasty bakery items if you want to grab a cup of coffee and a treat and hang out for a bit.
Kathy Schmaltz: Great staff, coffee, and atmosphere!
Cameron Bruneau: Great coffee and great people!
Cara Keilen: Great coffee shop! Cosey atmosphere with a great selection and friendly service. Highly recommend!
James Johnson: Phenomenal cup of joe!
Scott Hofmann: Great coffee and atmosphere. Comfortable furniture.
Jim DeBoer: Great coffee and relaxing atmosphere!

Tonic Coffee Co.: what do users think?
Steven Mccornack: I am sitting here drinking a cup of their dark roast from El Salvador as I write this, and it's simply DELICIOUS. I bought a 12 oz. bag on a whim this past weekend, as my wife and I picked up vegetables at the Okemos Farmer's Market, and WOW am I glad I did so! Smooth without being boring, packed with flavor without being bitter, this really sets a standard for how a dark roast should be - and is my new go-to fave. Well done, Tonic! STRONGLY recommended!!!FOLLOWUP: It's now two months since I posted my original review (above), and if anything my fondness for Tonic coffee has only grown. Since then, I've tried their dark Columbian, and it's INCREDIBLE. I rotate back and forth (with the El Salvadoran), depending on my mood. So yeah, Tonic does a FANTASTIC job, and you won't go wrong with them. Side note: I order all of mine online, and have them ship; which they typically do quickly and hassle-free. :-)
karina sacchero: Excelente café al paso. Riquísimo
L K: My family and I absolutely love Tonic Coffee Co. Their custom roasted beans are always fresh and flavorful! I am also very impressed with their decaf beans!
Erica Fowler: I am completely spoiled now. The big chains can’t come close to this coffee. It’s so smooth I find myself putting less sweetener in my coffee now. Customer service is great. They answered all my questions. Love this company!
Emily Sigler: I’ve been drinking a Brazilian roast for about a month now, and it is simply delicious. Can’t wait to try out some other roasts in the very near future. Tonic Coffee Co. is awesome!!!
Jack Zuk: Cole the owner is amazing! Customer service and response was top notch.Coffee is amazing!! I have never had such fresh roasted beans. The owner explained how the roasting works and what he is looking for in the perfect batch. We can't wait to try different roasts.

Strange Matter Coffee: what do users think?
Trevor Benoit: Their commitment to quality shines through in every cup. The coffee is expertly crafted, offering a variety of unique and flavorful brews. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. The attention to detail extends to their delectable donuts and snacks. The dedication to sustainability and supporting local producers is commendable. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply in need of a cozy space to enjoy a delicious cup of chai, Strange Matter Coffee is an absolute must-visit.
Under Ach1ever83: Others may enjoy their coffee, but their black drip coffee tastes burned, and it's expansive for the size of the coffee. It's a trendy little place, but if you just need a black coffee you might want to look elsewhere. I'm sure they have other great coffee drinks though I didn't try them.I bought a couple donuts for my coworker's and they liked them a lot.
Gwenavre Chaffee: A beautiful establishment with caring, gracious staff and owners. I'm so glad I can call this my neighborhood coffee shop.Parking: Some parking on the street in front of the business and a parking lot around back. Disabled parking available around back.
Emily Frankman: My favorite coffee place in Lansing. Had my first date with my now spouse at their original location. Wrote much of my dissertation at one of their tables! Now we bring our toddler to enjoy her own “kid’s steamer” and annoy the other customers (sorry!). What would I be without Strange Matter?!? Delicious coffee and baked goods, friendly staff, and I am so supportive of the owners’ local and inclusive initiatives. I visit it often and will continue to get my coffee and vegan donuts here.
Eric N.: Best coffee and donuts in the area, and an awesome vibe! I never miss a change to stop by Strange Matter for a latte and donut (or two or three).Recommended dishes Great Place for Coffee, Pour over Coffee, Scone, Gluten Friendly Vegan Cake Doughnuts, Vegan Boston Creme Donut, Latte and Cinnamon Donut, Donuts, Double Shot of Espresso, Latte and Chocolate Sprinkle Donut, Cinnamon Roll V …More

Dani Graham: My absolute favorite coffee shop in the Lansing area! so many delicious drink options and an incredible variety of baked goods (majority of which are vegan, while also being the tastiest donuts i’ve ever had!). We’ll drive the 15mins to Strange Matter over the starbucks on the corner any day to support a business with great values & a want to better the community. I can’t say enough good things - every experience there has been wonderful. is it busy and hard to find a spot to sit? yes, but that’s just what happens when a place is popular! they have an online order a head option which we like to opt for. drinks are always ready when we arrive and staff is always wonderful!Dietary restrictions: plentiful vegan options available
