Rich B: Stopped in to order 4 dozen cookies. When I told the scruffy guy behind the counter that, he said it would be 30-45 minutes. Had he stopped there he would have made a sale. Instead he lectured me about how busy he is and how things work around there. When I called him out for his attitude he got very apologetic and told me it’s because he’s used to dealing with college kids. I’m not sure how being rude to your largest customer base was supposed to make me feel better. He lost a big sale today and more in the future.

Chris S: Good cookies that I want to give a higher score, but the selection was limited when I visited due to technical issues they were having. I wanted to try their vegan cookies but had to settle (which is a word I use lightly because I actually enjoy them a lot l for the chocolate chunk cookies. Another improvement they could make, given they carry a selection of lactose-free cookies and a lactose-free ice cream, is to carry at least one type of lactose-free or non-dairy milk.I look forward to going back again. They're seriously good cookies. Gooey and sweet.
Teri Myers: Ordered cookies to be delivered at noon today for my son’s birthday. I received an email saying there was a delivery issue and to please call. Attempted to call the number multiple times during the day and after being on hold for a few minutes the phone would disconnect. Finally just got through and the call center clerk indicated it was NOT a delivery issue but rather was a store issue. The store was not able to make cookies. If they had communicated properly and timely I could have placed an order with another bakery to honor my son on his birthday. Disappointing and terrible customer service

Officer Paw Patrol: So let me start off by saying that the quality of the cookies is incredible. I’ve had all of their permanent deluxe cookies and they are always great quality. My deduction of a star comes from this particular location. The most recent time I went in there (12/3/22) the girl working behind the counter was clearly high as a kite. The location also did not have their seasonal/limited edition cookies even though they advertised having them online and IN THE STORE. I highly recommend their deluxe chocolate chunk, deluxe salted caramel, and deluxe confetti. All amazing. Soft and gooey on the inside and crispy on the outside. Will still go back even though the location itself irritated me.

Skylar Spitzer: The cupcakes look super cute, however, the taste doesn’t equate. Some were a little dry, overly sweet, or just plain bad. We got an assortment, one of which had cherry frosting, and it was not edible- it tasted like cough syrup. The service was friendly and helpful.

Lioness of Judah: Sugar Shack has the worst gluten-free cookies in town. They are grainy and tasteless and they have this aftertaste that is off-putting. I would not walk in to this business and think that you're going to have a wide variety because you don't. The owner used to make gluten-free cupcakes those were delicious however she doesn't sell them on her racks because she claims that she doesn't have enough business for gluten-free desserts. I find that hard to believe since gluten-free and Celiac are prevalent right now and probably always will be because people have food intolerances and food allergies.March 10, 2023 UPDATEA friend of mine ordered from SS and the person who took the order was RUDE. Unfortunately I see they haven't improved their management, employees, or services. GF items are still limited. How disappointing to see they haven't stepped up to be more professional and inclusive.I left the OG review FOUR years ago.

The owner makes it pretty clear you're bothering him and is very ubrupt. I can understand having a bad day, but I've had a few encounters with him and that's just how he is. There are bakeries in the area just as good where I won't leave in a bad mood.

Officer Paw Patrol: Decent treats for the most part. I absolutely loved my custard puff pastry, but the blueberry cream cake was a little odd and had almost a wet texture to it. The cannoli was good, but not the best I’ve had in the area. The croissant was good also, but just good. Not amazing. If you’re in the Lansing area, I’d rather make the drive to Flour Child in GL.

At least they offer to make it. Too sad

X. RAO: Best in town. Variety of selections of unique desert and pastry. All of them are not very sweat, similar to Asian or European type. Cake is also great and delicious. Before you can call 1 day ahead for a birthday cake, now you need 2 days, so plan a little early. The store is also super clean and cozy. Staff are all friendly and nice.

Jennifer Houghtaling: Brittany did an amazing job with the cookies for our son’s birthday party! We got questions all day about where we got the cookies from and comments about how delicious they were. I don’t have a creative bone in my body, so all I did was send her a picture of the invitation we sent as well as the general theme and she did the rest. She is truly so talented. Not to mention- booking, payment, pick up and communication were all easy breezy and made my life so much easier. We will definitely be working with Brittany again for our future celebrations!!

Brittany is an incredible teacher and she made it so easy to follow along and decorate the cookies! I don’t consider myself artistic at all, but her instructions really made me feel like I could do it-and I did!! I loved every minute of the class and I am so grateful for her expertise and skills! It was the most fun thing, and I can’t wait to attend more!! I should also mention that the cookies and icing are incredible delicious. Absolutely worth the (very reasonable) cost.

Victoria Reynolds: I have traveled an hour and a half to Detroit to find beautifully decorated cookies. However, they were not as delicious as Crowded Table’s cookies and not as spectacular. Brittany is a true artist and I love that she can customize an order to accommodate my family’s need for dairy-free. I have contacted other bakeries who specialize in decorated cookies and none have been able to accommodate our needs. Every flavor of her cookies are memorable and every custom design is carefully executed. I highly recommend trying her cookies. While we provided some initial ideas, Brittany even added suggestions of her own based on what she knew would present best (which was so helpful).The final product simply blew us away and put a GIANT smile on the face of each recipient.There was so much detail, precision, and thoughtfulness that went into each set—even down to how beautifully they were packaged.I can't say enough good words and will 1,000% be back to order again in the future! :) :)

We ordered a custom set of cookies for my son’s 10th birthday and we were DELIGHTED with the results! Brittany was so easy to work with and you could tell that she really cared about our order. Not only were the cookies delicious, but the artistry of the frosting was out of this world! My only regret is not ordering more! Lauren Buhlman: Very unprofessional. Turned down business.I reached out via email to try and get some questions answered about wedding cakes. It was like pulling teeth to get them to answer all the questions I asked so I had to keep emailing back repeating my questions. I scheduled a tasting/consultation via phone because they won’t do it over email. After speaking with the woman who answered the phone, what we are looking for (small cake and cupcakes) didn’t need a consultation but told me to let them know if that’s how I wanted to proceed or not. So, a few days later, I emailed back asking to cancel the consultation because I didn’t want to hold up a spot for someone else. They responded saying all Wedding orders required a consultation. I responded saying how I was frustrated because I kept getting different information and that the woman on the phone told me we didn’t need one and then asked them to keep my appointment and confirm we were still on schedule. Promptly, they responded saying that I was no longer a “good fit” for them and that they were cancelling my appointment and would not be of service for our wedding. I guess they turn down business when you ask to many questions or express frustration with misinformation or point out any mistake that they make.

We got a three tiered cake with strawberry and red velvet and 4 dozen vanilla & chocolate cupcakes. Everything was so delicious and moist! Also reasonably priced! I will be a returning customer! Also the cake and cupcakes were for 150 people and we had plenty, even with saving the top tier for our anniversary.

I got an assortment of 2 dozen cookies and ended up cutting them in half because they are so large and that way people could try 2 (or 3) different kinds. They were all delicious but my favorite was the molasses cookies. Now the cupcakes were the best I’ve ever had. Perfect flavoring….the frosting was not too sweet and oh so creamy! I got an assortment of those also. All our guests loved them. The lovely staff at Cakes-A-Blooming made the place even more special. I WILL be returning again. Thank you for helping make our weekend wonderful!!

Claire Belmont: Cute Cafe! I took out breakfast but will be back sometime to try some of their cookies and other goodies.
Michelle Benson: It's such a cute spot! I've seen it for years, but I never realized they had gluten-free options or more than pastries. I got the El Rito without the wrap, and it was amazing! Everything else was closed, and this was the only place I could find that was open.Plenty of seating, some cozy. I'll be back!

Kendra Miller: Mitten Raised was our baker for our wedding back in November and they did a fantastic job! People still rave to us about the dessert we had at the wedding months later. We did donuts, cookies, and pie shooters! Katie was great to work with and did a fantastic job at setting up the desserts.
Alana Retzer Brinker: This is MY FAVORITE PLACE. The cookies and brownies are amazing, despite them being better known for their donuts. My favorite is the Oh-do brownie, with Oreos and cookie dough in it, and the butterscotch oatmeal cookie, and the campfire cookie (made to look like a campfire!). I'm a tea gal and love their chai tea latte, made with Tazo concentrate. They also have a bunch of creative coffees that sound so fun except that I don't like coffee. They also have a great food menu. They have things that people who are trying to "eat healthy" would like, but they still actually taste good. My favorite is the el rito, and the breslin burrito, and I love that I can get tator tots here as well, since who doesn't love those!?
Chris Glassman: An East Lansing staple for tasty breakfast sandwiches, wild and sugary donuts, and local coffee with creative flavors. It’s also a great spot to get some work done!
Officer Paw Patrol: Cool city vibe for a bakery. Quality of the food is great. I got a few cinnamon rolls to go which were really nice and large. Prices were average and I didn’t feel like I was paying inflated campus prices. Only downside was the cashier who had zero patience. I asked her if the cinnamon rolls had cream cheese frosting or regular icing and she quickly snapped back “I don’t know, I guess you’ll find out”.
Doug Kohler: The food here was amazing!! The waffle sandwich hit the spot and the breakfast wrap was a flavor explosion. The atmosphere here is good, but I think the best thing was the cinnamon roll. Probably the best I’ve ever had!

It made it so easy with all the cookies individually wrapped and we had 5 different options for guests to choose from. Family & friends couldn't stop raving about them. Katie and her team were very easy to work with to place the order well ahead of time and the day I was planned to pick them up, they were all there waiting for me, freshly baked. I highly recommend Mitten raised whether your catering or just looking for a delicious treat. Also if you're thinking about getting the Seinfeld cookie, pick up double what you planned on. Thank you Mitten Raised for the amazing cookies and phenomenal service.
A KWM: Got a cake for my daughters birthday. Flavors were good, decoration was gorgeous, cake is so dense and the filling/frosting is insanely sugary. Granted, I bought it online and never tasted, I went out on a limb with a new company. So, I wouldn’t rule it out but I might order in person and be more specific. When I picked up, there were lots of tasty looking treats under the glass.

Waverly Jennings: My boyfriend and I loved mitten raised. The hearty sparty was our favorite breakfast on the weekends and the flavored cold brew drinks were amazing - they still are. However, for how often we went, our order always seemed to take the longest even though we’re ordering for just 2. People behind us were getting their orders before us. One time I was given a coffee coupon for drinks I never order, which I guess was a nice gesture for having to wait 25 minutes for my order. Their hours are horrible also. Lastly, neither my boyfriend or I were able to get cakes for our birthdays. I reached out in October for my boyfriends end of December birthday and was told they were too backed up and weren’t taking any custom orders in December. We will definitely be limiting our visits here from now on.
Hannah Wilson: Without a doubt one of my favorite places to meet up with friends or to study. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Locally owned. It’s not solely a donut shop, but I rarely walk out without a donut…for sure some of the best in the area! Truly if you’re in East Lansing- this should be on your list of places to try!

Anisah A: I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Young and his team since they opened back in 2020.The quality of their desserts is unmatched and has stood the test of time. They have a rotating menu updated on Facebook each week (and a new website!) so the variety keeps us coming back week after week.Some of my favorites are the carrot cake, dacquoise, cream puffs and pecan financier. You really can’t go wrong. Sometimes there are savory options as well that are always beautifully balanced. The drinks are great too! Personally, I go for the banana latte or matcha americano.For any Muslim or vegetarian/vegan customers they are well informed of which desserts contain gelatin. Yeremi was even kind enough to experiment with plant-based gelatin but the outcome wasn’t the same (also shows how genuine they are when they say they don’t put out new products unless it meets their standard)Lovely people, warm and inviting atmosphere with desserts that are the perfect balance of sweetness.
Diane Hurley: Ordered strawberry creme cake for birthday. Expensive but enjoyable. Raspberry creme delicious. Bought a coffee macaroon, tirimisu, & salted pretzel chocolate chip gourmet cookie. All lacked a strong flavor. Cookie was thick & crunchy, so disappointed in these 3 items.

Another customer said the macaroons were “life changing” and she wasn’t exaggerating! We had the creme brûlée macaroon - I bought another before walking out - and will be back again for them! The strawberry milk was also delicious.

And the dacquoise was also amazing! A must taste! They also have amazing beverages to choose from. Got the matcha latte! Yum!

Nariyah: This is such a nice bakery! I went here wanting to try something new and definitely enjoyed. I was only able to get a few things because it was nearing the time of closing so I will definitely be going back to try new things. I got the pineapple macaroon, crème brûlée macaroon, matcha white chocolate macadamia cookie, and the vanilla cinnamon latte. My cousin got the caramel banana pudding, the confetti cookie, a blueberry tart, and the banana crème latte. The crème brûlée macaroon didn't really have a distinct flavor but the pineapple had a great flavor and the inside filing was good. The matcha cookie was great after being microwaved for a few seconds and latte was tasty and had a strong cinnamon flavor which I loved. My cousins also says all her items were really good. Will definitely be going back!
