St Vincent Catholic Charities: what do users think?
Alex C: I recommend anyone looking to become a foster parent here, look elsewhere. I have few good things to say about this agency. If you're considering donating, look for a different charity in Lansing.
Hailey Amarie: I was a child in their care. I was here for almost a year with cancer and they never took me to a dr to get care. We didn’t know I had cancer until I was out of their care. While I was terribly sick under their care I was mistreated and gaslight by the staff at how sick I was getting. I was also placed on “sick bay” where you only get one meal a day when you are sick. I lost alot of weight and suffered immeasurable mental pain from this facility. Because of this facility when I got help for my condition it was almost too late. I almost died. Not to mention they recently got in trouble because a male staff member had a whole year long relationship with a 14 year old. You can look it up on google. Please reconsider another facility to help your children and family. For the sake of everyone. I can say that some staff members here were my light during my hard times here.
Kim Marple: This place is a joke they don't try to place family back together they think they can make money off your children done with this place..yoyr going to be investigated if it takes every last dime in have
Tracey Spaulding: My team has created several documentary-style videos to highlight some of the work STVCC has done through their refugee and adoption/foster care services. It's so evident how passionate this team is, and it's heart warming to see the positive impact their work has on the community.
Mia Mohammadi: They are not answer the phone.
Christine Huff: So far I am very happy with the services that my granddaughter is getting here so she can return home. From what I have been told it's one of the better residential placements in the state. I will post another review after she comes home.
Shivian Morgan: This group would rather CLOSE THEIR DOORS than place children into loving, supportive, stable, compassionate LGBTQ+ homes. Anyone who prioritizes their bigoted faith above the health and wellbeing of a CHILD is sick, depraved, and should ABSOLUTELY close their doors.
Kayliecia G: I don't particularly care for this place. They ignore you.
Rhonda Harvey: Work here nice place to work..
Kiley Zaranti: They are the worst place ever. I have ptsd after living here for two years, I didn't get a childhood because of this place, I barely ever got to see my family. Don't send your child here, let them have the childhood they deserve.
Carol Prahinski: Highly recommend the legal services for immigration. Thank you for the service provided.
Beverly Pack: I adopted a child that had previously been at St.Vincents. She still talks about how wonderful the staff was to her. After I adopted her, I took her back to see the staff. I think this is important for the staff to see that they really made a difference in her life. They were overjoyed to see her and one of the staff members spent most of the visit in tears of joy. She commented to me, " We never really know what happens to the kids when they leave here. It is so wonderful that you brought her to see us and to see that she is thriving and doing well." My adopted daughter often speaks of adopting a sister from St Vincents to help someone like she was helped.
David Williams: Very clean, and nice place

Bethany Christian Services: what do users think?
Christina Perez: Amazing staff and organization.
Andrew Frania: I lost my citizenship through adoption; Bethany Christian Services markets the adoption of foreign children without their consent as a white-savior complex. Try living in a world where everyone around you is white, growing up being attacked for being different, stripped of your culture and ethnicity. I fought wars for this country trying to be seen as an equal, but even a Marine Corps uniform doesn't hide who I am. Us foreign adoptees had no choice in giving up our citizenship, it was stolen from us.
Hardy Gail: We we're foster parents they help us get our license. Then we ended up adopting a girl. They help us head over heels through it all. I thank you for helping us get a great blessing in our life. Plus they been there even after the adoption. Thank you Bethany.
Mathew Vainner: This company is not in favor of the children, send kids back to a unfit and unsafe home after the adopting family has done everything and grown the love and shown proof to be proper parents.
Michele Burke: We have been clients of Bethany Christian Services since 2011. We have used their services to both foster and adopt. They have been wonderful to work with. They have always looked out for us, been responsive to our needs, and treated us with great courtesy and respect. Most importantly, they care deeply for the children that they serve.
Dido 0308: Well I see from the other reviews that my family is not the only one having trouble with this agency. My son needs to fight in court and spend thousands of dollars for his child because the woman wants to give it up for adoption and they were not married. The agency which both I and my son spoke with long before the baby was born were told that my son wanted to raise his child. He is not a kid but an older adult. They said they would place the child with adoptive parents anyway because that is what the mother wanted.. Heartbreaking when they knew he wants his child. They never bothered to ever speak to my son to see his side of the story but only took the girls word of everything. her pretending that he kicked her out (it was my home and that is not what happened). These laws for unwed fathers need to be changed and I will be working diligently to do so and to bring to light to the legislators agencies like this with untoward behavior and actions. If I hear one more time about deadbeat dads I will scream. Even when there is a good guy who wants his child he cannot seem to get it because agencies like this encourage lies and deception. Yes, as another reviewer said don't let the "Christian" fool you at all. As a matter of fact the girls family are staunch "Christians" and they have been lying about everything from the beginning and keeping my son from even knowing how his baby was developing. Blocking him at every turn, changing her phone number so he could not reach her so it would look like he didn't care. He went to her siblings home to try to find out how she was and the baby developing and was told they were not allowed to tell him. I imagine as this family has given up children before that they have been heavily coached by this agency. When the agency finally called him to tell him that his baby was born 5 days later even though he had filed the appropriate paperwork, they would not even tell him the exact date the baby was born (because the mother didn't want them to) even though it would end up on paperwork anyway. It is yet another clear sign of how the mother and her family have been emotionally and psychologically abusing my son for over 6 months and it continues by the agency not even filing the correct paperwork when we went to court so it would be delayed again 3 weeks. To further try to manipulate my son the agency told him for the hearing he did not need a lawyer. What a lie that was, I am glad he didn't listen. My son and I feel sorry for the adoptive parents. We tried to stop ahead of time them being hurt but the agency doesn't care as long as they get their money for another baby. In my opinion babies should not be given to the adoptive parents until both parents have signed the rights away. It is unfortunate but if for some reason the judge rules the adoption can go through we will appeal as far as the supreme court if need be. THIIS IS ALSO A WARNING TO ADOPTIVE PARENTS. YOU CANNOT TRUST WHAT THIS AGENCY SAYS. I AM SURE THEY TOLD THESE ADOPTIVE PARENTS THAT ALL WOULD BE WELL. This is very sad for a lot of people because this agency could not be bothered reach out to a known father to see what his thoughts and desires were. Even to have a basic conversation. Their job seems to be to get their client a baby no matter what they have to do. NOTE: THE ORGANIZATIONS RESPONSED TO REVEIWS ARE A WEEK AGO, HOWEVER THE ACTUAL REVIEWS DATE BACK TO A YEAR AGO IF THAT GIVE YOU ANY INDICATION.
Jacob Begley: Absolutely terrible agency. Anyone dealing with these people beware.
Amanda Streyle: The Bethany Christian Services off of Lansing Lake Road has been a sort of teeth pulling experience for our family. I constantly struggle to get emails or phone calls back within a timely manner. Contact with them is months at a time. Ive asked for a new case worker and am the only one reaching out tp get responses. My husband and I wanted to adopt because even though we could have more children quite easily, we wanted to take on a child that had a high likelihood of ageing out of the system instead. Just because we can have more kids doesnt mean thats what we felt pulled to do. We have the money, the time, the extra space, and the want. But Bethany made us feel like obligations. Stating it takes 8 mnths to get licensed. And during these last few months we never once got a call from them...but instead we made every effort to get ahold of them. I would not refer any one to thia company. You will feel left behind and stuck with the frustation of not having communication on whats going on.
Dr iPhone: Don't let the "Christian" fool you. We have been foster parents for many years. This agency is not good. They are incredibly controlling, will move kids around, even separate siblings without notice and before investigating. This has not only been our experience, but as more than decade old veterans, we have heard similar stories from other foster and adoptive parents. WARNING: If you work with these people, be prepared for the emotional roller coaster most foster and adoptive parents fear! When you hear people tell horror stories about foster care and adoption, this is the kind of agency they are talking about. Stick with County DHS for foster care and work with groups like Catholic/Lutheran Services or Child and Family for adoption.

Child and Family Charities: what do users think?
Alyssa Durand: Staff are neglectful, they don’t report the items they should and forget to tell the parent that picks up the child after their visit of major events that occur during visits that could lead to the child being in danger. Not a good experience with this location.
Jane Doe: Just no. My ex husband was ordered supervised visits after being charged with a heinous crime (for lack of better words) I had sole custody and even though that happened I had physically no say about these visits. They state in their policy it is only the other parent in the visits and family is generally not allowed, but he had people come in every week family and not family. It didn't matter if it was people I wasn't comfortable having around my kids for all this place knew these people weren't even supposed to be around my kids. I've never felt so dismissed and concerned that I sat in the parking lot for every single visit because I was that uncomfortable leaving my kids there. This man had no custodial rights but got to call all the shots.
Jasmine Pratt: Awesome staff! Alexis is absolutely amazing. She's kind and super polite! This place is also one of the best places I've came to for individual counseling. My therapist is beyond awesome.
Dottie Skodak: Very effective and out therapist or rather our worker was very upfront with my child which I did agree on. He wanted him to respect him as well as himself and me. Very thankful he could talk with my grandson and let him think thru what was next of her didn't participate in this program and that he understood the consequences of his failure.
Kat Gandolfo Real Estate Guide: I cannot say enough good things about child and family charities. They have such an incredible mission and offer so much to our community it's remarkable. Please go check out their website and see how you can help support them.
Brandon Piercefield: Great place we use it for play therapy for our 7yr old son who is autistic. His therapist is an awesome human her name is Ashley. She always makes my son comfortable and they have a good time. She always offers my son a drink and snack. There's plenty of parking spots and front door is locked with a buzzer to hit controlled by my only complaint the receptionist who seems to always be annoyed with her job and you come off as a bother to her. This being everyone's first interaction with each visit I hope it's just been coincidental to me personally. I don't know all the exact services they provide there but I've seen people of all ages there as clients. I couldn't be more satisfied with my sons care from Ashley and their services.
David Hamilton: Supervised visitation with my daughter.
Zaslameire Young: I woulda chose to stay with my mom.. if I had a choice.. but they stole me let me see my mom for a little n took me away from her n put me with strangers...I WANT MY MOMMY
Deerose26: I don't like leaving review for non profit, however I'm extremely disappointed in the hiring process. I was excited about working a fulfilling job in other ways than pay, knowing that most kids that are self admitted and looking for help, and me being a mentor to help them navigate through life.I was supposed to have a meeting through an app called teams, I was only twenty minutes early for my schedule interview, I double check to make sure I had the right info. I waited forty minutes for an interviewer that never showed (Philip Gates). I called his number after the allotted interview time and was met with an unfriendly demeanor and a guy who just wanted to shift the blame. We set up a meeting for in person, but after taking a night to process what happened I decided to look for employment else where. It was tough cause I was excited about the opportunity. I just wanted to write this review because indeed has me jumping through a ton of hoops just to write a review.
Kathy Kreimer: Got to see my great grand children there
Darrel Ashby: AWESOME organization and they do incredible work in our community.
Diane Goodemote: Child and Family Charities continues to expand and provide an array of services to children and adults in the community! Their staff and their leadership teams work very hard to think outside the box, collaborate and meet the needs of everyone they serve everyday!
Roderick Thomas: Good people who do the best they can in spite of unfavorable circumstances.
Sherry Campbell: I have served as a director for this agency for nearly 9 years. I became involved mostly because of services we provided to the agency, but I've come to see the amazing work done with children, youth and families in our community. The agency provides a wide variety of services and supports not offered by other organizations.
J Mudget: Very good placing very nice people
Jen Wolf: They are friendly and professional. I expected to feel self- conscious and uncomfortable, but was pleasantly surprised.
Sophia Estrada-Ferreira: Child and Family Charities is a wonderful place to work! with caring staff members and a great management team. they are always willing to fill the need in the community.
Angela Bunker: The management at this company is always thinking of their employees and how to make sure their needs are met. The management team is open for conversation and are easy to talk with.
Rachel Prosen: Amazing organization that offers a variety of programs for families and individuals. Very dedicated staff and service providers.
Chad Jordan (Cravings Gourmet Popcorn): Everyone was very nice
James: Gr6et agency to get involved with for foster care. They care about the foster kids, foster parents, and the families of foster kids. They go the extra mile to make you feel safe and comfortable.

Samaritas: what do users think?
ZZee Star: Awesome
Karla Darnell: Nice place and the staff was very friendly.
Sarah Hillman: We fostered for four years through Samaritas, and while the experience itself was very stressful, the agency staff were incredibly supportive and helpful. I literally cannot imagine having navigated the process successfully without them. I'm not sure if this is a reflection of everyone's experience, or we just got very lucky, but everyone there we engaged with, from the case workers to the management and counselors, and even the support staff, was helpful, kind and wonderful to work with. If you are considering fostering, I would HIGHLY recommend working with Samaritas.
Catherine Wesley-Ottarson: Caring for and about Kids in the Foster care community is what they do.
Sadie Pingel: We chose Samaritas for our Foster/Adoption because we wanted an agency that would be open and non discriminatory to a family with two moms. They've never let us down, we always feel 100% welcome and cared about, and they've worked through a complicated case and helped us find our new son. They are committed to helping children and families.
Kleinone: A great place dedicated to helping people
John Boslooper: Always ask before bringing service/therapy dogs into the building.
Royce Ali: it took my kids from me when they was suppose to come home 😓
Susan Cole: 👍

Ele's Place - Capital Region: what do users think?
shauntel stephens: As my family and I go through our grieving process Ellie's place has been such a great relief and support on our journey 🙏🏽💟🙏🏽 sometimes just talking to people going through the same things makes life a little bit easier to cope!
Steve Richards: I volunteer here with my therapy dog Beau and have found a forever home. The work that the staff and volunteers do is amazing. Everyone is treated with love and caring that you can feel just being in the building. If your children ever need support after the passing of a loved one Ele's Place is where you need to start. You will be treated to the most supportive family of friends that will last forever. Please don't struggle through a loss alone when Ele's Place is here for support
Jay: They provide a great service to those who need it.
Jeremy Hurt: The work done here is so important. Grief is a fickle beast that we all deal with on a personal level. To have support and a group of people that share your feelings is second to none in dealing with any traumatizing situation. Thank you Ele's Place for being a beacon of light in so many people's dark journeys.
Katherine Wilke: They have helped support our family during the grieving process.
Jackson Urban: Words can’t even begin to express how important Eles Place has become in our lives. Never did we want to have to be there but after a very tragic loss they were the first place I reached out to and the care and compassion shown has been nothing short of amazing. I didn’t think we would ever start to heal but slowly and with credit to Eles Place we are heading in the right direction. If you have a child that has suffered a loss of someone close to them please reach out to them. You won’t regret it. Or if you have the resources to make a donation please consider them, these children are so loved and supported and a place like Eles Place wouldn’t exist without the community helping.
Kris Hummel: Great place for kids that need to learn to grieve..
Christi: We are lucky to have this resource locally!
Lindsay Teems: We absolutely love Ele's! Such a positive environment. It's one thing my kids look forward to every week!
Rebecca Robbe: Absolutely invaluable service.
Trenton & Emilee Barnes: This place is a fantastic place to volunteer or attend. Such caring and giving people. ❤
Kedus Mekuria: VERY AMAZING PLCE
Cheryl Simison: Helping children through the grieving process.
Yvonne “VonRenay” Steward: I'm a volunteer and love the atmosphere of helping people.
Breanna Reilly: I recently lost my father in a very traumatic way, I was referred to Ele's Place by the Sparrow Hospital. Before you can go to group meetings there you have to do an intake meeting and sign a bunch of forms So today I got a call from a worker there trying to schedule an intake meeting. Never have I been so appalled and angered by the unproffressionalism by this woman. I was trying to get a better understanding of what exactly what the intake meeting would entail, instead of being courteous and friendly she replied: "Oh, someone didn;t explain this to you already?" In the most nasty tone you could imagine. Instead of informing me about what Ele's Palce does she sounded annoyed and unenthuiastic about every aspect of the conversation, not exactly what a grieving person seeking help is looking for. She continued to stress to me taht Ele's Place wasn't for counseling or therapy...that makes alot of sense seeing as what I was TRYING to sign up for was group THERAPY! I've never had the oppurtunity to see Ele's Place, and no longer have a desire to after being treated so rudely. I wouldn't reccomend turing to support from the jerks who man the phones there.
