Daniel R. Mesko, DO: what do users think?
Mary Thelen: Dr. Mesko was very patient with me today. I had a lot of questions. Was nervous about a cortisone injection because that last one I had at another office was painful and didn't relieve and pain. I barely felt it a d my knee feels better.
Carrie Westphal: I went into the office, they took x-rays and I was taken to an exam room where i waited for 35 minutes. No one came in, no one checked on me. I had to leave to pick up my bf from work by 4:30 so by 4:10, I just left. I told Nancy at reception that I was left in the exam room. I watched a lot of the staff leaving for the day from the window of the room. Her response was, 'Really?' So I told her that the office would get MY bill this time. The last time I was in this office, the PA-C, David was really condescending. I'm intelligent and don't deserve to be talked down to.
Sher Welch-Cutler: Very friendly front-end and back-end staff. Dr. Mesko and his intern really listened to my concerns and addressed them. I have been dealing with pain for years, and he ordered up an injection to help my pain and discussed total joi t replacements when injectionsstop working. We forget how much we depend on being able to walk comfortably and when the pain and stiffness of arthritis is at its greatest, I now have a physician I can trust and feel confident in his decisions! Thank you!
Theron Smith: Very professional and thorough.
Bill Jones: Waiting was a little tedious but the people were all great!
Doris Walker: GREAT no issue !

Robbert McKay: Exceptional experience. Fantastic staff. Great facility.
Barb Sears: Dr. Daniel Mesko was my surgeon for a total hip replacement. He has excellent surgical skills and a good rapport with his patients. He showed me x-rays of my hips and knees before and after surgery and clearly showed me that the deterioration in the cartilage and bone of my hip was responsible for the pain and loss of flexibility. He listened to my questions and comments and provided clear, concise and careful responses. The support staff at the Michigan Orthopedic Center is efficient and thorough. Things run like clockwork there.
william Mullins: Dr Mesko and his team changed my life for the better. My hip replacement went with out a problem. Pain was well managed. I am no very Active! Thanks

Dr. Michael McDermott, MD: what do users think?
Mike Schenk: Went to see Dr. McDermot for a torn meniscus, was told I have patellar tendinitis, then told to do PT, which will not heal a torn meniscus. My appointment was 5 minutes. Never talked about my meniscus, x-r rays or my MRI.
Charlotte Moffitt: Great doctor! Have had several surgery, and all turned out well.
Biff Grouter: I had a consult with my primary care physician in January, was sent to Sparrow, East Lansing, they sent me to Dr. McDermott. After waiting for an hour after scheduled appointment, I asked how much longer before I can see the Dr. Was told there "was some difficulty with my account"...how could there be, havent even seen the Dr. yet?...after am hours wait, was told have to wait until Sparrow will release restrictions on sugeries due to covid...as of today, March 10, 2022, after multiple calls to his office...with no response, I guess there is no one to answer phone calls. I give up. I will probably go back to the V.A...As an addendum...I ought to be refunded my co-pay as he did absolutely nothing worthwhile! Just had surgery (June 7,2022, TKR) thru Dr.Pascotto and the crew at Sparrow Charlotte, great experience! What happened to Dr. McDermott? Guess I'll never know!
Sharon Cook: I absolutely had the best care from this doctor. He did my ACL/meniscus. Very Informative talk with me not at me. Thank you kind sir!
Dean Parrott: A skilled and caring physician. He helped manage a complete fracture of the radial head in my wrist. I'm back skiing this winter.
Karen Pryor: Very poor communication and bedside manner. Dr McDermott did an ORIF surgery on my wrist and did a good job. The bones have healed well. However I continued to have problems with my incision. I went back after 3 months to have him look at it and he was disrespectful and extremely unhelpful. Would not even examine my incision. He raised his voice in an extremely unprofessional manner to the point of yelling at me and showed no empathy for the pain I am still experiencing. Don't go see him.
Connie Davey: I made an appointment with Dr. Mcdermott concerning extreme pain in my hand. Other doctors told me it was arthritis. As soon as Dr. Mcdermott saw it he said it was trigger finger. He said the first step is an injection. He did it right then. He said there is a 30% success rate. Well, I guess I'm in that 30%! I've been pain free for over a month!I would recommend Dr. Mcdermott to everyone!!
Bruce Robinson: Great people thanks 😀
LJsully: I went to this practice originally to be seen for a problem with my hand. The first doctor totally blew me off and so I asked for a second opinion and was seen by Dr. McDermott. From the get go he took it very seriously; sent me for an x-ray and ultrasound and determined that it was a tumor and scheduled me for surgery which I recently had. He did an excellent job and I’m so grateful to him and the fact that he was so thorough and conscientious!
Bryan Moody: Unprofessional and complete lack of communication. I tore my ACL over a month ago and was only seen about every 2 to 3 weeks where I would be billed outrageous amounts for 30 seconds of conversation with the doctor. When I asked to discuss graft options for my ACL I was pretty shockingly told that he only performs hamstring tendon grafts, but he did offer to refer the surgery to somebody who would perform a bone-tendon-bone graft if that's ultimately what I decided I wanted. Upon deciding that I would like to go with a BPTB graft I called the office to speak with doctor about being referred, and was told I would get a call back later. This happened about 3 more times where I was consistently having my requests ignored each time I would call, all the way up until 2 days prior to my scheduled surgery. I had to call again just to cancel the surgery and then find another doctor in network who would perform a BPTB surgery for me. If you're looking for a doctor who will be clear with you about your injury/surgery and you're looking for solid communication between doctor/staff and patient then I would avoid this doctor like the plague. If you're looking to have the "gold standard" of reconstruction done on your ACL also know that you won't find it here as this doctor only performs HT grafts.
Maureen Holbrook: I had my rotator repaired. Dr. McDermott did an excellent job! I had absolutely no pain, and a very speedy recovery. I highly recommend Dr. McDermott.
Patricia Mitchell: Denied pain relief (cortisone shot) was all I asked for, I waited two weeks to be seen. How Dr's have the say to denie a person seeking help. 4 X-rays 10 minutes of his time. Not a fan!

Michael P. Swords, DO: what do users think?
David Betts: The administrative and professional staff are remarkably accommodating and cheerful.
Beth Reaume: They got me in right away for X-rays then to see the doctor. Very efficient and staff was great!! Huge practice but I think they do it well.
Doug Prizer: Everything went as expected. Very little pain from the procedure.
Lewis Gentry: Dr. Swords makes you feel better and hopeful. He is cheerful and treats you like a friend
Kimberly Raby: As always had excellent care and professional service with Dr. swords technicians and himself.
Jimbo Jim: Excellent!
Bruce Benson: Michigan Orthopedic and Doctor Swords are first rate! My procedure was in depth and he did an excellent job. Thank you!!
Sarah Tomac: Great experience!!
C C: If you break an ankle and are told you require surgery, I recommend a consult with Dr. Swords first before making your decision. I came to him after having had 2 surgeries by surgeons from another group to repair a traumatic break to my ankle (broke in 4 places). Both original surgeries to stabilize and repair the breaks went great and were done well, but the surgical wounds were not healing properly. Post op follow ups at that office are done entirely by the PA, a process that hadn’t been explained to me. After expressing my concerns to him and being repeatedly told to “keep an eye on it”, it finally looked bad enough to him and he referred me to a wound clinic. I had to go every week for treatment of an infection. While it helped, the wounds still weren’t healing completely and it seemed like they might not ever do so. I was frustrated, worried and dejected. I saw my primary care and suspecting something more serious was happening, referred me to Dr. Swords. I am so THANKFUL they did. He saw the gravity of my situation and through simple examination and talking about my medical history with me, he deduced I was reacting to the metal implants. He recommended removal of all the plates and screws. I agreed and 2 weeks later he performed the necessary surgery! What a difference!!!! Not just in my healing, but in the whole methodology of how he and his staff operate. I had follow ups with him at my first and last appointments, and in between I saw his PA, Wendy. She is friendly, attentive and professional. Dr. Swords is in the office and available the days you see her if you or she have any questions, and she is present with him in the operating room for your surgery. This was so different from my experience at the other office and 100% better. If you fracture an ankle, save yourself time, healing and frustration and request Dr. Swords for surgical consult in the beginning. If I could go back in time and do that, I would. I realize that the the metal reaction might have occurred regardless, but after my experience with Dr. Swords, I am confident my concerns would have been acknowledged and addressed a lot sooner.
Mark Kraushaar: outstanding! Would highly recommend. Dr. Swords was very kind, patient and explained everything
Bill Heuer: Outstanding care, understandable instructions, courteous service.
Mary Catherine Terry: Dr. Swords is amazing. He's thorough, honest, and explains very well I trust his expertise.
Mary Ann Harr: I am very happy with Dr Swords and his staff. My surgery has help me to get back to doing the things I enjoy. Thanks to all of you.
Rich Ballor: Best surgeon in the area.Very happy with the results!
Ryan Bandalene: Great doctor
Amanda Lick: Dr. Michael Swords and his team are exceptional. He listens, answers any and all questions, and provides a thoughtful approach. He had several students in the room during our consult and I am grateful to know that future doctors are learning from him. The office staff was kind, and quick. The new office space is bright, open, and easy to navigate.
patricia nowak: Excellent care from Dr Swords and staff - he and staff were extremely on top of my case from start to finish! Highly recommend
Jennifer Pappas: Great Doctor. Cares about patient time
Art Ickes: Outstanding communicator of situation and options available. Very easy to submit questions and get easily understood responses.
Mike Lee: DR Swords is the best in the business. I truly appreciate him and his staff. Great surgeon, great bedside manner, empathetic, and I’ve never felt better.
Diana Gibson: Dr Swords & staff very professional and friendly

Steven L Drayer PLLC: what do users think?
cecily victor: In November of 2022, I was referred to Dr. Drayer as I had severe pain in my right knee. It was a shock to me when after seeing my xrays he gave the possible options , for me to make a decision, and at the same time gave me his best professional expert advice. His clear communication, made it very clear that I needed a total knee replacement surgery. I had read previous reviews from very happy patients and knew that he was a leading surgeon in . MAKO Robotic surgery. I am am so glad I made the decision to have the surgery promptly. The surgery went perfectly. And Last week, February, 27th 2023 I had an appointment with him, was able to tell him that all was going really well, and my recovery was quicker than anticipated. I am walking well, managing stairs. He gave me all the time I needed and kindly answered all my questions, and my husband's question too.It was an additional blessing to have pre and post op appointments with Sam of Sam's Physical Therapy, who to my good fortune is based in the same building as Dr. Drayer. Their working in tandem, really helped me physically but also gave me a lot of confidence that I was in extremely professional hands, and I was able to totally trust them and recover so completely at such a rapid pace!My heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Drayer and his caring staff, who never tired of my frequent phone calls and answered, as well as returned my phone calls promptly with answers to my questions. Thank you!
Linda Higgason: In 2021-22, I underwent two knee replacement surgeries with Dr. Steven Drayer and am pain free and enjoying activities I was unable to do before I got my new knees. I feel blessed to have experienced such a qualified and caring doctor and his staff.
Jillyn Smith: Dr. Drayer is an amazing surgeon. My left tkr has changed my life for the better. I am active again, no pain...just unbelievable. His staff is very kind, and very responsive. Everything you need when you are having a major, stressful surgery!
thomas hibblen: I was in a car accident in 1996 , Dr. Stayer fixed my broken pelvis, broken in 5 places, and my dislocated spine .The first Doctor I saw said I would never walk again, Dr. Drayer put me back together, and I worked another 24 years with virtually no pain.I cannot recommend him enough !
Jeff Risch: Here's our story, I had a full robotic knee replacement 9 weeks ago. It was amazing the results were fantastic. My recovery time and pain overall were wonderful. I was able at 10 days to flex over 90 degrees and walk without a cane. Then my wife went in for a knee scope and after surgery Dr Drayer informed us that her arthritis was very bad and in the near future she would need a full knee. This brings us to today she just had the surgery met with Dr Drayer and it went fantastic now we are headed forward. The whole team at his office to his choice of surgery hospitals the excellent care and concerns are all the best. Thanks for being part of your surgery familyJeff Risch
Nancy Shaver: I thought I would never walk without pain again. And then I met Dr Steven Drayer! He replaced both of my hips this year and I couldn't be more thrilled! I feel like I've started my life over! He is an excellent surgeon and I love his staff! I am only 57 years old and I have a new lease on life... I highly recommend him!!
Lawrence P. Schneider: I am writing this review on Thanksgiving Day 2020 on purpose, because I am so thankful that Dr. Drayer (with a bit of help from a robot) performed my total knee replacement surgery exactly two weeks ago. I am so happy with Dr. Drayer's services, as well as those of his staff, that I did not want to wait until I am back on a golf course again to write this review! Dr. Drayer was kind, caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, answered my every question, and was backed up by a staff that displays the same qualities. I would mention names but for the fear of omitting someone who I didn't meet who may have done some work on my case without meeting me face to face. The Hospital staff I met also made me aware that they share my opinion!
Karen Przytulski: Dr Drayer performed a total knee replacement August 2020 on me. This was my fourth knee operation completed by 4 different doctors. Dr Drayer is down to earth and prepares patients for the rigors of this procedure very well. You can tell he enjoys helping his patients. He has a dynamic team backing him up. His nurse, Halle, is great and Sam his Physical Therapist along with his assistant, another Halle are excellent. The nice part about Sam is he practices in Dr Drayer’s office so any questions are easily answered up to 7 to 8 weeks post-op.
Deborah Hayes: Dr Drayer is a professional physician who answers all questions and concerns you have. He has a phenomenal staff, that work in timely manner to get your needs taken care of. I had both of my total knee replacement surgeries done by Dr Drayer and would recommend him to anyone.I would also recommend DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. Their staff from the time you enter until the time you are released are caring and treat you as if you were their only patient. I have never received the quality of care as I experienced at DMC hospital.Sam the physical therapist that works in Dr Drayer’s office is caring and professional. Sam works with you to get through your therapy even when it feels like you can’t.Thanks to all of you
Jeffrey Curtiss: Just had mako total knee replacement surgery. Dr drayer and staff did a great job!
Nancy Hands: I opted for the Mako Robotic knee surgery and am very happy that I made this decision- less invasive and faster recovery. My right knee was operated on in early March and my left knee was done in late May. I had a wonderful recovery, minimal pain and I'm so glad that I had them both taken care of - it's behind me now and I can get on without the previous pain. Dr. Drayer is fantastic! My scarring is minimal compared to some that I've seen in online support group pages. I would recommend Dr. Drayer and the robotic option for any joint replacement issues you may have.
Big Unc: Dr. Drayer did my knee replacement and I have to say he did an amazing job. Feels so good not to have pain in my knee. And his staff are professional and extremely caring every time I go there. In my opinion best orthopedic surgeon in the are...
Alden Leatherman: 23 years ago Dr Drayer performed surgery on our infant daughter's broken knee in the growth plate area. We worried about the development of her knee and leg bones. She has grown up to be a dancer, hiker, rock climber, river rafter, dog musher, and runner. I kind of think he did a decent job.
Michelle Bellmore: I wouldn't go anywhere else!! I had THR with the Maco robotic and I now have even leg length and was active in just 3 months!!
J Roy: Dr. Drayer has performed 2 knee surgeries, as well as carpal tunnel surgery on both of my wrists. He did an amazing job every time! I still need to have a partial knee replacement on my other knee and will be having Dr. Drayer do that surgery as well. I am confident in his abilities and his staff are super friendly. They do x-rays right in the office and have a physical therapist on staff to better monitor your condition and your progress after surgery. I will say that he is not one to hand out narcotics unless they are truly necessary. So if you are a drug seeker, look elsewhere.
Ed Shand: I would like to thank not only Doctor Steven Drayer who was the surgeon for my recent total hip replacement but, a great deal of thanks to his entire staff. True, Doctor Drayer did the diagnosis and performed the surgery and he did a magnificent job in all respects. However, his office staff, nurses and all others also need to be complimented for their roles during the entire process. What a wonderful team of professionals that’s available to meet the needs of the patient. Every time I went to the office I was greeted with a friendly hello, every question was professionally answered with great detail and my mind was set at ease about the upcoming surgery, prep requirements and the post-operative requirements. There’s another caveat that I haven’t seen at another surgeons office. Doctor Drayer has an independent physical therapist working within his office complex. What a wonderful idea to have the resources right in-house to complete the healing process. It’s called Sam’s Physical Therapy. While there was no pressure to use Sam’s for my therapy, it made a great deal of sense to me to use the service so closely associated with the surgeon. Where else would I find a therapist that would know the latest therapy techniques designed for a hip replacement or other joint replacement than one tied directly to the surgeon who did the surgery? After just a few weeks of therapy I have more strength in my right leg and hip than I had over the past four years.Words are difficult to describe the wonderful experience that I had with the entire staff, the surgical procedure and the post-operative recovery that I had with Doctor Drayer. Thank you so much for your expert care.
Shad Bowens: He’s very attentive and knowledgeable. Thanks so much!!
Glenna Wireman: Excellent care!!!
Gavin Feldpausch: i broke both bones in my leg in 2014 and a year before that i broke my collarbone into 3 pieces. my scars are pretty much invisible and i have 0 pain. this man is good at what he does without a doubt.
reebee leigh: When I was 5 years old, I broke my elbow and was treated by Dr. Drayer at Sparrow Hospital. over a week in the hospital, 2 surgeries, weeks of physical therapy, and 21 years later I still do not have full range of motion despite the injury itself being relatively minor. about 5 years after my experience, my father fell off a ladder and broke his ankle. Bone exposed, snapped right in half. We rushed him to emergency (again at Sparrow) and unfortunately Dr. Drayer happened to be on call in the ER. My father went through 2 different surgeries with Drayer and still experienced immense pain over the following 2 years. Drayer would always tell him to just pop more aspirin. He was incredibly rude and never seemed to care at all about my father's diminished quality of life. We finally ended up taking my father to a specialist in Bloomfield Hills (Dr. Katcherian - HIGHLY recommend) where we were told that his ankle bone was actually necrotic and dying off thanks to Drayer's botched procedures. His ankle is now fused and he still experiences a higher than normal amount of pain but has learned to manage. AVOID STEVEN DRAYER AT ALL COSTS.
Judy Davis: I felt very comfortable with Dr. Drayer and the staff , very friendly and answered all my questions with understanding and care for my knowledge level. The robot surgery was great. I recovered fast and very little pain. I would recommend Dr. Draayer to anyone and if need other knee done will be going to him.

Peter Bates: I would give -5 stars if possible. I am permanently disabled after surgery on my leg.
Dan Wisinski: Excellent Dr. Very nervous about having someone operate on one of my kids and he did a great job . He did a real good job at preparing my teenager for the surgery and had excellent outcome.
Kathy Zmijewski: Dr. Dietzel is an amazing surgeon. I had no pain after my shoulder surgery. I could tell that he cared and understood my issues before surgery. He listened! He also spent extra time answering questions. He is top notch!
