Spartan Krav Maga: what do users think?
Jules EJ Lapprand: Great workouts, great skills, simplicity is key, great people, great learning. Worth every bit!
Lonnie Crowe Jr: Best place to get in shape and learn to defend yourself.
Nicole Albert: I’ve been going a couple times a week for a few months! It’s a great work out and skill to have. All of the teachers are great and offer something a little bit different! Looking forward to trying their weapons defense class.
Julia Braem: Great instructors who teach effective no-frills techniques to defend yourself and counterattack. There are no cliques nor pointless moves, and for a reasonable monthly rate (less than a gym membership) you can attend up to five classes per week. Be prepared to push yourself, it’s well worth it. We highly recommend this for adults and kids.
Scott Hofmann: I trained to learn and experience real fighting and defense techniques from armed attackers for a novel I was writing.I very much enjoyed the training, and I learned a great deal from the experience, which has provided me with great fundamental fighting skills. I can better defend my family, others I love, and myself. As long as my body can hold out, I will continue to train to get better, smarter, faster and stronger.
Erica Fowler: My kids had soo much fun! They came home and practiced on each other for weeks what they had learned in class! Great cardio and stretching warm up and basic respectful fundamentals. Instructors were excellent with all ages, my youngest being 4.
Christina nosal: Ever since I started I have loved it! It's changed my life and given me so much self esteem and confidence while keeping me physically fit. Everyone is very friendly, and it's a ego free zone. Anyone can do it!
Melody Curry: The guys did an amazing job teaching us how to defend ourselves as real estate agents. I would definitely recommend them!
Linda Anderson: They did an excellent job of keeping the class engaged and providing relevant material. I loved the hands on factor!
Morgan Nations: took a group class today where the instructors came to us - it was great! very informative, fun and interesting. will definitely be recommending this group! don't hesitate to check them out!
Ashley Marlette: My family and I used to train here and I miss it so much, unfortunately our lives are unable to fit this into our schedule as we live to far away. However if you are curious, just try it, the instructors are amazing and you learn so much, this could literally save your life.
George Apwisch: Every instructor and every student are very supportive. It is a very positive and friendly environment. Instructors are well trained and make Krav Maga easy to pick up and fun to learn. Learning Krav Maga has made me more confident and I am all around happier since I started taking classes. Krav is my favorite part of my week. I plan on continuing training in Krav Maga for a very long time
Nuk3 Dominat3: Really love the classes I've learned a lot great people great atmosphere good work out probably the best martial arts place I've ever gone to #spartankravmagastrong🤙
Shyamali Mukerjee: Wonderful instructors! Justin, the owner, takes time to get to know his students, and is a very friendly person. Actually, all the instructors are friendly, but also offer hardcore warm up exercises, followed by lots of drills for learning the self-defense moves. I’m so glad Spartan Krav Maga is here in the Lansing area. If you live in the Lansing area, and are looking for ways to switch up your workouts while learning self-defense, try Spartan Krav Maga. You’ll enjoy it.
Gary Fredericks: I’m new to Krav Maga but not Martial Arts. Spartan Krav Maga is a very good investment of your time and money. In each class I can get a workout that pushes me to my maximum and maybe an inch more and come away with very functional self defense tactics. The instucors have deep understanding of the curriculum and are passionate about what they teach and how it’s delivered. The students are welcoming and helpful when I’m not getting something. It’s a great place to train functional self defense and fitness.
Cristina Novoa: I started taking classes here in August and it's the best thing I could've done for myself. Not only is it great exercise, but it's easy to learn, empowering, exhilarating, and all of the instructors and fellow classmates are helpful and friendly! It's good to know that I can protect myself with what I've learned in classes and I'm excited and inspired to push myself and reach my fullest potential physically and mentally because of Krav Maga.
Andrew Luce: The group of instructors are experienced and welcoming, each offering their own range of experiences (military/police/martial arts/etc.) and technical knowledge of Krav Maga. The class atmosphere is flexible when you can't keep up, and helpful to push you to keep doing better. I've been there for a year now, and I really appreciate that it's never 'sink-or-swim,' but 'push harder,' and 'here's what to work on,' especially with the level 2 sparring. I look forward to class for exercise, developing skills and seeing classmates.
Dion Green: Best art I have ever taken. Great teachers, great lessons, and emphasizes fitness and preparation as well. Also taught by LPD officers.
Alex Lucio: Been doing Krav Maga for a few months now and it was exactly what I needed to break up the monotony of the week. More importantly it gives me even more confidence knowing I'm learning something that can help protect my family. The instructors know their stuff and care even more about your development. There's no egos just a bunch of close knit people who are willing to give advice and help along your progression. Great time and even better workout if you put in the work.
Jason Cassing: I started attending Spartan Krav Maga several months ago and can say that it was one of the best decisions that I have made. This self-defense system is easy to learn regardless of age, experience, or level of physical fitness. Additionally the practically of this self-defense system in potential real-world encounters cannot be understated. The instructors are knowledgeable and their method of instruction only enhances the class. Lastly, you will increase your level of physical fitness , since starting Spartan Krav Maga I have lost 10lbs.
Carmen Rose: Spartan Krav Maga is great for a work out, confidence and self-defense. The instructors are all talented, engaging and experienced. They take you through each move step by step and explain everything clearly...through example and then actual hands-on practice. It's also super close to Michigan State's campus, which is very convenient as a student.

KSK Martial Arts: what do users think?
Maria and Sofia's Missions!!: KSK is very enjoyable class. My girls don't wanna miss any session... the instructors are very friendly
Matthew Grieshop: My son and I have been training in the Arnis weapons program for a few months. I trained in a variety of arts in my 20s and early 30s and am having a blast! IMO kali is an immediately applicable art, its foundation emphasizes simple body mechanics applied to non specific weapons and open hand techniques. The bonus has been the time I spend with my 17 year old son. The instructors and students are truly welcoming. Guru Kent is an outstanding instructor and is great at motivating focus and has fostered a fun and inclusive environment.
Bryson Maddick: Positive:Communication,QualityGreat atmosphere with an outstanding insructor and staff! I did a trial session and immediately signed up for a 12-month membership. Highly recommend 👍
Nicole Allen: My son has been a student here for several months and LOVES it (in the Little Ninjas program). The staff is great, very friendly. Instructions during class are well structured and organized, as well as appropriate for and geared towards youth learners. If you are looking for a high-quality, high-energy atmosphere for your kid(s) to learn MMA, or get exercise, learn discipline, respect, self-defense and confidence - all at an affordable rate - this is the place.
John Ward: Beyond impressed and happy with KSK. I've been sending my 9 year old there for the past month and couldn't be happier. If you're looking for a school where your kid(s) is going to be treated like a special/delicate flower and the focus is on memorizing katas to "earn" the next belt, then this isn't the place for you or your child. However, if you're wanting a MA school that instills discipline, life lessons, rewards and recognizes hard work, all while learning unarmed combatives - then this 110% is the place to go. Only regret I have is not starting my son sooner.
Jose Sanchez: I practiced in KSK a few years ago.RECOMMENDATION: Do not subscribe for a year. If you are really interested in the school, try the classes at least for 2 good months before making longer commitments.THE GOOD: They have a diverse curriculum, the owner has good technique and knows his stuff. This is not a McDojo.MY BAD EXPERIENCE: I committed the mistake of registering for 1 year. Soon after my registration I started a Masters degree and was not able to attend the classes anymore. The owner didnt accept to cancel my subscription. The school had the option of private lessons, so I asked to get private lessons for the money I was paying, but he didn't accept. neither He was OK in just taking my money without offering other option in exchange. Also, I paid for shorts as part of the subscription but were never delivered. The classes of the program I registered to were not enough to call it a work out, the instructor said that you can get a workout by your own, and is true, but, I mean, this is martial arts! I expect any MA class to be the best workout; so if you are looking for a MA school that can also help you to get in shape, this may not be what you are looking for, unless you register for several hours per day or have time to workout by yourself. You will see really cool performances, keep in mind those may be just choreographies.
Benjamin.eichler Eichler: Well-thought-out and well-planned. It's wonderful to work with an educator that puts in the time to focus on details
Eric Cullimore: Great owner and instructors! Excellent place to train.
Sally Dettmer: The new location is looking great. Looking forward to becoming a student there
Steve Peto: Excellent instruction and great friendly atmosphere. High quality martial arts in the Lansing area, providing strong development in skills, self confidence and respect for yourself and others.
David Overley: The instruction is good...and you can learn to defend yourself if you work hard. The people and atmosphere can be a little intimidating, as it can be a bit of a social clique. However, they are typically warm and welcoming to newcomers.Rising in the Ranks can be weird, as there is no traditional "Testings" just evaluations from the instructors to decide when they think you are ready to get moved up. Unfortunately those evaluations can come in the form of "Private lessons" with an instructor, and those can cost nearly as much as your monthly tuition. That said, The monthly prices are not terrible, however the 3 hour class schedule can daunting and hard to manage for busy people. Many pick and choose what they want to focus on, and just do those hours.I was here for over three years...learned some great application level knowledge to expand my martial arts.If you stay out of the social circle and focus on that martial arts, you will learn.Go for the martial arts, and stay for the martial arts.
Ed Spamjunk: My 12 & 13 year old's go to KSK.. They already had a lot of martial arts experience before they joined KSK. After they did their KSK trial, they asked me to buy it for them. When I asked why? They said the KSK teaches them to fight, they get to fight with actual resisting opponents. When you learn from Guro T.K. Nelson, there is no fluff. He teaches you to fight. It's all very useful, and they make the lessons a lot of fun! This place is great. Call them for a free trial class. It's free fun..:)
Andrew Barnes: I've been training at KSK for a little under three years (update, four years now) and I love it there. The teaching style is relaxed and supportive. I felt welcomed from day 1.At the school you can train in Kali (a Filipino weapons system), Kai-Shin Jeet Kune Do, and BJJ. The wide variety of techniques and approaches can be overwhelming at times. However, Kent Nelson breaks the material down into easily understood concepts, and then teaches how to apply them in both traditional and non traditional situations (ex. Using hand trapping as part of your grappling game). To summarize, I would recommend KSK Martial arts for the following reasons1. Excellent instruction2. Exposure to multiple styles, and learn how to combine in the that best suits you3. It's fun. The laid back atmosphere and friendly people.
Katie Hammond: Great place to try martial arts or to continue. Everyone is so willing to teach and Guro Kent is a fantastic instructor. Also, it's an excellent workout!
gayam sandeep reddy: They are not refunding my money. I have called them about 3 times now and every time the receptionist answers and informs that they can’t talk at the moment and will give a call back. The call back never came.
bonnie britt: I found KSK because I wanted to learn self defense. I wanted to have confidence in my ability to defend myself. From the moment I walked into KSK I felt welcomed and safe! I have been at KSK for about a year now and I have never felt unsafe while training. It was never my plan to be here this long, I just wanted to learn a few self defense moves and then be on my way. But life has a way of turning your course and I found myself not only loving the training, but becoming a part of a new family. I have never been made fun of or put down if I am not at a set level or if I am struggling with a new skill. The instructors are patient and help you fit the new skill to your abilities. One of the things I love the most about KSK is that everyone there really and truly cares for one another. Guro Kent has been amazing and cares about you as a person and not just when you step onto the mats. Whether you want to train in martial arts, improve your health, or just want to learn to defend yourself, the KSK family is waiting for you!
Mei Bresnahan: Great martial arts school. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. They teach fighting styles and techniques in great depth, while also connecting different elements together. Students also learn the advantages and disadvantages of various moves, and how to adapt to the situation. Lessons can be large, but guru Kent is able to maintain high quality instruction and offer multiple levels of instruction at a time. Finally, the school has a welcoming atmosphere and utilizes safe practice methods. It IS possible to learn without breaking bones!PS teach has a swag beard
Kenneth Schafer: I have worked as an LEO for approximately 1 year. During the academy, I began considering martial arts. As I graduated the academy, I knew it was time to choose a school. KSK stuck out because of Guru Kent's work with the Michigan Sheriff's Association. I decided to try KSK and knew I made the right decision when I took my trial class.Guru Kent is very knowledgeable and passionate in his trade. The classes are well planned and they are fun. Guru Kent has several associate instructors, so there is never a time where we do not have someone at the school to teach class.Guru Kent teaches five main areas in class, striking, clinching, trapping, manipulation and grappling. While all five are important, I can recall several times where clinching has been a necessity in my field. Without my training at KSK, I would not have known how to react when the opportunity presented itself.I would recommend this school to anyone, LEO or civilian.
Lexie Roberts: I have trained at KSK Martial Arts for a number of years. Even though as a young woman I was often in the minority (most of the members are men), I always felt very welcome and safe. Everyone who trains at KSK is welcoming and supportive of each other member. Guro Kent, the main instructor at KSK, especially makes sure all members and visitors alike feel welcome, learn real, applicable self-defense techniques, and have a great time. I would definitely recommend this training studio to anyone looking to learn real self-defense techniques or just meet some truly awesome and fun people. The only reason I don't train here anymore is because I moved away to college!
Russell Kranz: My kid has been going to KSK for four years now. He has grown and enjoys going to class every week. KSK is a great atmosphere and helps build self confidence.
Gus Davidsen: KSK is a welcoming and positive environment to train martial arts regardless of age, skill level or your particular goals. Guro Kent has created a truly awesome curriculum that is not only valuable but fun. The instructor staff is knowledgeable and speculatively have lifetimes of cumulative experience, a couple might be wizards. The best part is the people you get to train with, a great group who are gonna get better by making you better and keeping things safe. Come....Train with me.

Chung's Taekwondo and Martial Arts USA: what do users think?
Sean Valles: We have had an excellent experience here. It is well-run, reasonably priced, and it has the best pandemic safety policies of any business I've encountered.
Jimmy Hutchful: Master Chung is a funny and skilled instructor. He is very passionate about class and has a range of students who are at different levels and belts.I also really found a great community here with a diverse class, really cool black belts who support you ! (shoutout to Mariah ).
Naomi G: It's been wonderful watching my child's self-esteem and confidence grow in this environment. Master Chung is fantastic.
Jesse Avendano: Master Chung's Taekwondo school is fantastic. I'd been looking for a place to get back into martial arts because I missed the physical activity and needed to back into shape. But with Covid there were obviously safety concerns and I didn't know if it was even possible to find somewhere that had decent safety measures. But I was blown away by how well Master Chung's school handled the Covid precautions, everyone gets their temperature taken at the door then sanitizes their hands and feet before stepping onto the mat and everyone wears Kn95s. So you do feel safe practicing at master Chung's.The workouts themselves will push you to your limits, in a good way, the other students are very welcoming, every practice session is a little different so it doesn't feel monotonous when you're there. Master Chung manages to balance instilling discipline and focus within his students, with a sense of humor. I've been to a few different martial arts schools and sometimes you can get a superficial feel from the school and the master, but master Chung is definitely not that. When you watch him demonstrate a move or something it's clear that he's been practicing everyday, for years and that's encouraging. I can't say enough good things about the school and master Chung.
keontré Hughes: I had debated doing martial arts for a long time, and have dabbled elsewhere, but not until I started at Master Chung’s have I immediately felt such a sense of community and dedication, both amidst the other students and from Master himself.I have spent my entire life in athletics championships ranging from kindergarten to D1, but rarely have I done something that can bring me to the peak of exhaustion and simultaneously make me want to drill even harder (for my own benefit).
Noor Al Haidari: Master chung is literally the best. He’s really cool, respectful, funny, and will always push you to be better.
JANNA: My first day meeting Mr Chung, he is awesome! I love the respect he commands from the children, always encouraging a " yes sir!" From his students, Something alot of our children lack here in America....respecting adults- I personally have been trying to get my son to say " yes ma'am " for the past 5 years! To hear him saying yes Sir , during his first class tickled me lol. I told him " see, I wasn't wrong." Lol. Anyway my son had a blast, the atmosphere was nice and the other students were so polite and encouraging to other students. Mr Chung gave my son a pop quiz so to speak asking him geography questions out loud, and my son didn't know the answers- I love his style, in the car my son said " I should study some more geography " lol. All in all, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Chung's Taekwondo...
Gowri Suryadevara: Master Chung is cool. He is accommodating and pushes you to get better. He also provides examples of being a martial artist. His classes helped me grow physically and mentally strong. I will recommend his classes to anyone interested in martial arts.
MJ Jones: My child has an endless energy supply with a backup generator; with that, the attention of a goldfish. I was also nervous as she's never been in any kind of formal class setting. Master Chung assured us I didn't need to be nervous that she wasn't ready. It's been 5 months. She has more respect for others and her listening skills are waaaaaayy better. You also don't get the feeling here that your kids are a number. Master Chung knows each student and parent. He shows both parents and students the same respect. He's firm, he doesn't "play" but he let's the kids know they matter to him/ he cares.I beyond recommend his dojang. I'm excited to see my daughter continue to grow with his program.
cameron wadle: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMaster Chung’s Dojang is impeccably clean, well run, and a great location for college students. Master Chung is very knowledgeable, kind, and assertive. The health and safety standards are top notch.
Drake ????: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Tania Akhter: I recently joined Chung's Taekwondo and I love every bit of it. Joining martial arts class has helped me release the stress I've been getting from my personal and school life. I'm so glad I decided to join his class.사랑해요 Master Chung!!💛
Ruchira Singh: Positive:Quality
Matt Eagleson: Positive:Professionalism,QualityHave been doing lessons with my son for 2+ years. Great place to learn Taekwondo from a person who honestly cares about his students.
connor smith: I've been going to Master Chung's adult Taekwondo since February and have loved going ever since. It's a fantastic place if you are looking for exercise and to learn a new skill in the process. Master Chung's enthusiasm each and every class makes it a great place to learn.
Xu Peng: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMaster Chung is a great teacher. I have done Taekwondo for almost 4 years and learned a lot from him. Master Chung teaches us discipline, the tenets of Taekwondo and how to be more confident -Jordan
Karen Park: Master Chung is an excellent Takwondo teacher. He cares for kids, and loves to joke around. He is a serious about teaching but make it fun to learn. I am highly recommending him.
Natalie Draper: I recently joined Master Chung's kickboxing class and love it! Master Chung is kind and a wonderful teacher. He also pushes you in a positive way to do your best and try new things. He has been very innovative with online and in-person classes and ways to still workout despite the pandemic. He really wants each student to succeed and is a positive role model for kids and adults. I am very glad I joined!
Anjali Sardar: I have studied under Master Chung for about five years. In addition to Taekwondo, students will learn discipline, respect, and the Tenants of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Master Chung takes the time to get to know each of his students individually and offer them guidance on the sport, as well as advice for life. The workouts during the class are tough, but bring great results. The students and instructors in all of the classes form an incredible, positive, supportive community. Overall, training at Chung's Taekwondo is a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend it.
deef dragon: Master Chung is an amazing teacher, knowledgeable, and always looking to make sure that his students are attending classes and actually learning. For new students, he makes sure that they are able to catch up in both skill and physical health, helping them to tune the class to fit their needs.Unfortunately, AMSEpay, the company he works with/for is Terrible. Until such a time as he is no longer working with AMS, I would recommend against signing up for his classes.

Magic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?
Travis Fountain: Brendan had amazing instruction very detailed, huge group and all were friendly
Jake Pavlicek: Fantastic place to learn and train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I was unsure of what it would be like to start a martial art, having no experience with any martial art prior. I can say that over the last year and a half, as a student at MSU, my only complaint is that I wish I would've started training at Magic sooner. The environment is incredibly welcoming and you can choose to be competitive, exploratory, or casual, all at your own pace. The lead instructor Matt, along with multiple other highly-qualified and knowledgeable upper belts, establish a fantastic training culture. I cannot recommend this place enough for those interested in the sport.
Chloe Abbott: I can not say enough wonderful things about this gym! As a traveling team we stop at lots of gyms and some stand out completely! This is one of them.So incredibly friendly and welcoming, not to mention top instruction and instructors. My three daughters absolutely loved the experience and begged to come back!If you are in the Lansing area, stop by and have your kids do a trial week, because chances are you will end up members. What a great experience in every area.
rutha muaalla: Awesome place. If you want to come in and learn some serious ju-jistu, they got you. If you want to come in and work on learning how to defend yourself, they have you covered. If you want to come in and just get a great workout in through doing ju-jistu, they got you. They have great instructors who teach you moves the correct way. Overall just a great gym. If you are interested in ju-jistu, this is the place to be.
Kellyn Ryan-Eyde: Literally the pinnacle of what a jiu-jitsu gym could be. Coaches are absolute Gods and are passionate about both developing the sport of jiu-jitsu and teaching students. There is an atmosphere here which welcomes new students and retains them. Top it all off with an outstandingly clean environment and raised floors to make for the most comfortable experience possible. You will not find somewhere better. Magic is an A+ school. 100/100
Michael Shaheen: Safe professional setting. All instructors are helpful and patient with beginners. Hours are accommodating to pretty much anyone which is a big help as well. Very happy I found this place.
Ian Kelsey: Dropped in for a bjj class while traveling for work. Everyone in the place was friendly and the instructors were great. I would recommend Magic to anyone looking for a place to practice.
richard mendoza: My son loves it...family atmosphere, friendly and the coaching staff is top notch...
Jason Bodi: When in Lansing, be sure and train at this facility. Clean, Professional Instruction and you're treated like family! I attended a Chris and Melissa Haueter Seminar and look forward to training here again!
Jferench3 Jferench3: I began training BJJ at Magic some years ago, but now live overseas. Whenever I am back in the area, Coach Matt and the rest of the Magic Team are always welcoming. Magic provides both high-level instruction and a welcoming training environment. Highly recommended for complete beginners and veterans alike!
Francis Barrett III: There are many here who are experienced and have the ability to teach for any level who are continuing to learn. There is a lot going on here in this dojo and those who are willing to learn will take away from this environment from many experienced fighters. I would make it a strong vantage point while the experience exists within these four walls.
Devin Cooper: This place is hands down incredible. I worked out here for two weeks while visiting Michigan for work and if I lived closer I would switch to this gym after only a few classes. The first thing I noticed when I went in was the enormous amount of mat space. At other gyms I have been to you are usually rolling in a small area on the mat and constantly bumping into to others. Here, there is plenty of room to roll and warm up. There is also plenty of space for your gym bag because there are shelves and people are allowed to place their things around the raised mats. The bathrooms are very clean, too.The instructors are incredibly thorough. I could feel myself retaining much more of the instruction thanks to the high level of detail. When they were going around they really took the time to make sure you have every little thing right and insist that you drill it in front of them until you have it. Other schools I have tried out just have an instructor walk around and give everyone a tip or two before moving on. At this gym you have no choice but to succeed. The level of skill was very good. I could feel that the people I rolled with had very solid fundamentals and I noticed that I was struggling to secure little victories I had begun taking for granted at my home gym. Everyone I rolled with was very welcoming and willing to give me tips to improve my game. The single best thing about this gym is the amount of time they make you drill for. At a lot of gyms there will be a brief warm-up, some half-assed drilling and then they'll jump right into rolling. Every class here will have you intensively drilling a new move until you have it right and the next class will be a variation of that move followed by more drilling. This is hands down the best way to learn. And, since classes are 90 mins long you will still get plenty of rolling in.I have been training for several months now and know some things I wish I'd known when I was shopping around for a gym. This place has it all. If there is any part of you that has any doubt, put it aside and try it out. There is no way you won't be satisfied with their services. I cannot speak highly enough about this place.
Ryan McNerney: Had a great experience at Magic BJJ and I highly recommend this gym. Every staff member was curteous, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I visited the gym while on vacation. They welcomed me to their facilities with open arms. There was a lot of mat space and the gym was very clean. Look forward to visiting them in the future.
Shlomo Levin: I was visiting Lansing again this summer and once again had the opportunity to go to two BJJ classes at Magic, this time at their new location. It's a beautiful facility, very clean and professional with large mats. Matt's a great teacher, and I found everyone very welcoming. Magic is a terrific place to train!
Kate L: Okay school, but small mat space and one of the instructors Greg is meh
Douglas Whitten: Great instructors and great people to train with. If you're looking to learn BJJ in the Lansing area you can't pick a better gym to try than this one.
Umberto Battino: Simply a great place
Scott Latunski: This is a great place to learn bjj.
Aaron B: Awesome place
John Leefers: mhmmm. good

Velocity Martial Arts: what do users think?
K T: Called to make sure I could get my kid in, owner just hangs up on me and called back several times and sent me to voice mail. Very rude and unprofessional, I'd never bring my kid here.
Betsy Iszler: I will absolutely NOT be going back to Velocity Martial Arts. We've been attending for two years and a few weeks ago another parent took her child into the bathroom and very loudly disciplined him. While the mother and the child were screaming, the instructor, Mr Richardson said "That's a good parent!" Then continued to vocalize his support in this abuse. When the mother and child came out of the bathroom, Mr Richardson said "Next time I'll let her use the scorpion stick".When I called Mr Richardson to talk to him about this he laughed at me! I can't believe a person like this is allowed to work with children. Zero stars wouldn't be good enough for this establishment.
Natalie Gerstner: Absolutely loved kickboxing at Velocity. Amazing workout every class, the instructor really encourages you to reach out of your comfort zone and do your best, so I saw major changes in my abilities in just a few short months. Classes are constantly changing so it doesn't get repetitive. 100% recommended!
Rozdiva40 Williams: My child and I have attended the school for almost 2 years. While there have been some bumps along the way, he has continued to make friends, apply himself and the skills but physical and life skills to his life. He currently has his peers at church repeating after him and making it their class mantra that they are motivated, dedicated and on a quest to be their best.As a child who is unique in many ways, they continue to find ways to make him feel special and continue to excel. He has grown accustom to his schedule and will now remind me that this is the day for karate. He is interested and on the path to get his black belt.I encourage all parents to look at this program. Just like every program there are challenges, but as a parent who is involved you are heard.Come out and tell them Tyrese Griffin sent you ...
Kevin O'Connor: My wife and I have been thrilled with the instruction that he has received at Victory. His self confidence and self esteem have increased do to the positive attitude from the instructors there. I would DEFINITELY recommened Victory for your child looking to learn martial arts.

Mid-Michigan Academy of Martial Arts: what do users think?
Josh Perkins: Great instructors. Absolutely love every second of class. Highly recommend
Dustin Koontz: Great place to learn self defense for all of your family. Positive group of people and great for all age groups. Price for classes are quite acceptable for what everyone learns
Rachel Atkinson: Great place. Knowledgeable instructors my son has learned a lot.
steve goorin: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Value
Raul Garcia Jr: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Value
Brittany Walker: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityThis place is legit. At first I had a bit of sticker shock but having seen the changes in control and behaviour of both my child and my friend's child even after only two weeks, I basically want to move in!
K L: When signing up they do not tell you it’s a monthly fee and a $200 cancellation fee. They do a one on one with your child and make you feel so proud and excited for them to join karate. They tell you how much it will cost ($200) and have you sign the papers. They do NOT tell you after the $200 it’s a monthly fee and you have to pay hundreds of dollars to cancel! So sad they pretend to be about the kids and it’s a complete money scam. So so sad. Stay far away form these people.
James Bense: I have been attending for the last year and have thoroughly enjoyed my classes. My instructors are excellent, patient and always willing to answer questions or help. Each class I learn something new, or see an area I can improve, and I am encouraged to try my best. I would recommend this school for anyone interested in learning self-defense or martial arts.
Nour Soufan: I wouldn't recommend this businessThey took a lot of money. They keep taking money even if we traveled or have an emergency, if you start with them, you can't cancel whatever your circumstances are, before paying a lot of money. For one year 2020 (March to December) they took up $5000during the Covid 19 my kids not joined to classes for 3 months, because it was hard for them to practice on zoom, even with this, they were keeping took money. My kids haven't learned much with them.I am really feeling sorry.
Joshua Zimmerman: This place is a great place to train. The Instructors seem to be attentive and encouraging to all their students. I will recommend them to all my friends and family and encourage anyone reading this to go.
Sara Kine: I never recommends.Kids won't learn anything. They'll take a lot of money, also when you want to cancel, they will charge you much money. If your son or daughter was sick or you are out the country, they will still charge you. They never stop to charge you. They took money from me more than 4000$.for one year. There are many karate schools much better and lower price.don’t attend to them.
Sam Cawood: The Mid-Michigan Academy is a great place to learn and practice. Whether a beginner or a black-belt, they have the team and resources to make you better. They follow tradition and focus on mindset development and discipline - great for teens or young adults experiencing challenges in either school or life. Happy I started my Martial Art's journey with them!!
Keith Cunningham: Fantastic Martial Arts Academy. You will not find this style anywhere else.
Jen Reaser: I attended this school when I was younger and now both of my kids attend. The difference of before and after with regard to self confidence and physical and mental health is nothing short of amazing! The instructors are polite, professional, and go out of their way to understand and meet the needs of each individual student!
Lisa Rowley: Wonderful school! Instructor is amazing! My little guy has grown leaps and bounds in the short time since we started! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him especially with having Mid-Michigan Academy of Martial Arts as part of his journey!
Tisyaketu Chokshi: Best Martial Arts Studio has everything helps you Train very much and boosts. You should definitely try it!
GoGo Waild: The staff are super friendly and after 3 years since we signed our son (8yo now), I can say that they are part of the family. Our son built a confidence, strength, respect, and focusing. They have many side events and activities during valentines, Mother’s day, Father’s day, Halloween, summer camp and many others. Also, we noticed a many kids with special needs we developing and being part of the group.
Bridget Kassab: Such a family feeling atmosphere. MMAMA is a great place for positive mental and physical health. I have really seen a positive growth in both my daughters since joining this team. I highly recommend to everyone.
Green Machine 98: Such an awesome experience! Practical self-defense training, a great workout, and positive, helpful instructors. The best part is that it’s a Martial Arts school that teaches life skills and focuses on self-improvement. Through my training, I have developed more confidence, a much more positive attitude, and the belief that all obstacles can be overcome with proper mindset, preparation, and effort. I highly recommend the Mid-Michigan Academy. It will change your life!
youngalto222: I have been with this academy for over two years. As soon as I get to black belt I will be renewing my contract because I'm never leaving. What Mr and Mrs Timlin have done is just amazing. I've studied at two different schools before I found this one and there is nothing like it. There is constant support, all of the instructors and people you learn with are just great and friendly. I can't begin to tell you how much this place means to me and how they have changed my life in such a positive way. They're like family and I thank them for the privilege to train there.

Michigan Muay Thai Academy: what do users think?
Philip Newton Blocker Jr.: Oh topic only wanted others to teach classes. Never coached or critiqued. Also off topic mostly.
Sean: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Regal Royal: Love it great atmosphere great instructor easy to fit in would highly recommend
Google User: There's alot of fake people in this area.
Bruce Hansen: Dan Smith is an excellent teacher. He focuses on fitness and form. He's a true steward of the art. He's very patient and is not creating a "puppy mill" of MMA fighters. The program is a great cardiovascular workout and teaches practical self-defense skills. You will not find a better instructor and friend.
Brandon Winters: I love this place been training for a few months, and I love it. Instructors are very knowledgeable and make the training worth it. It's on of them places when you get hit by your team mate practicing he makes sure your okay, you laugh about it and keep sparring
Kodiak Clark: Great place for martial arts and working out
Colby Dolby: Great place to train! Very knowledgeable and friendly instructors. My 6 year old daughter has been going here for a year now. She loves it and has even taken her training and started to compete!
Jay Aldrich: Instructors were very helpful and knowledgable.

Dreadnought Martial Arts: what do users think?
BraydenKessler: The most important thing to know about Dreadnought is that it is not, as advertised, for beginners.First-day fighters will be expected to perform striking combinations and submissions with no specialized or additional teaching from the instructor. I learned more from the high school students (who were very nice) that I was training with than the instructor. Also, if you come for grappling, you will be expected and encouraged to actively roll with competitive fighters and the instructor himself. The instructor will not roll lightly with you and explain the basics. There is no on-ramp for newbies at this place.Topping it all off is the fact that many of the photos used for Dreadnought are not of the current location. There is no turf, red mat, sets of barbells, etc. It far more resembles, as mentioned by other negative comments, an underground, dingy, run-down fight club.I thank God I escaped injury from going here as a newbie.
Kevin Stevenson JR: If you come here you will likely suffer a 100% preventable injury. They ego roll and ego spar. This is not a place to learn comfortablely. Look else where. This is definitely not a fake review. If you want to risk injury in lieu of learning at a slow beginner's pace, come here. Been to many gyms over the years, this place has instructors and students that have to win every round regardless of risk to their fellow teammates.
Richard Krause: Best place in Lansing by far.
Malik “Mc” Corleon: Great place to train for MMA The instructor is a great teacher also the students help out a lot if you don’t understand something just a great place all around
Ashley Adkins: Small rundown place. The guy who runs it walks around and bullies all the newcomers and made us feel super unwelcome. We Won’t be returning.
Christian R.: The gym is very small and dark which can be intimidating to some people (there is no sign outside either), making it feel like an underground fight club. I tried out the gym for a bout a week. I am a beginner and at first the trainer seemed to understand that and made sure to point out form and technique. My lack of knowledge on holding pads became stressful for the trainer and other gym mates because they were training for competition. This place is great for those competing. Those who are new should look elsewhere. I’ve never sparred before and went in on a spar day and the trainer ensured me that it would be a light learning session for me. The trainer himself kicked me in my rib so hard that it fractured it and I couldn’t breathe right for a good month after. I decided not to join because of this. I felt more like a punching bag to the competitors than an actual student.
Brock Eaves: Awesome place to learn mma and get a good workout
Renee Klauza: I have been training for about a year. I never thought I'd love it as much as I do. I came into the gym knowing absolutely nothing of what I was getting into. Andy is very patient and willing to work with all levels. It is definitely a great workout!! I dont plan on being a professional fighter but I enjoy the people and the intentesity of the workouts. Definitely give it try!!
Elsa Gallegos: Andy and I have worked together on and off for about 12 years. He is an excellent all around trainer and very knowledgeable in both striking and Jujitsu. He is probably one of the best in the area when it comes to teaching Jujitsu. You do not need to become a fighter to attend nor do you have to compete. We welcome everyone from beginners to advanced. We are a big family. Come check us out.
Cody Benjamin: Andrew is a great instructor, he teaches well and seems to know his stuff. The people are friendly, you get a very fulfilling workout, and you leave looking forward to the next time you train. Highly recommend.
Ben Farkas: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI have been training with Andy for a couple years now and could not be more pleased with the results. He was able to teach me (a unathletic benchwarmer) the knowledge and coordination of striking and grappling. He knows how to coach that perfect pace that leads to the grateful exhaustion everyone looks for in a fitness class.
Lex “Murder Mouse!” Marson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueTrained here for over 6 months and it's a fantastic place for all experience levels and backgrounds. Great training and instruction from a knowledgeable and experienced instructor. Everyone is helpful and very welcoming here.

Andrea Kinouani: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWe’ve been going to pksa Lansing for little over 2 years, and my son has discipline and confidence now. We’ve been to a few other martial art school over the past few years, and found nothing we liked! And the price is only a fraction of those other schools.
Rorie Dodge: Positive:Quality,Value
Carla Copeland-Joseph: Great place to learn Karate for children of ANY age. Mr Randy (the instructor) is phenomenal. You see so much growth in your kids, literally, right before your eyes. And most importantly, they have so much fun. These classes are such a great balance between discipline, fun and friendliness.Another thing I absolutely love, is how special needs individuals are incorporated into classes, and they are treated with respect by everyone, children and adults alike. Such a wonderful environment with very friendly and supportive families.
Peter Bergholz: I've been really impressed with the instructor. He's very kind while still holding the students to high expectations.
Audrey Abraham: Absolutely love the discipline, respect for self and others Sir Randy at PKSA Karate is teaching his students. He is very wise, kind, caring, patient and a positive influence. Sir Randy, his wife and son do an amazing job and even have a growing food pantry outside to help the community. I highly recommend PKSA Karate in Lansing
Shynx (Stratospheric Orion): They train you and care about you.
Jinie Shirey: My child has been with PKSA Lansing for about 2 years. He look forward to attending classes every week more than anything else. PKSA Lansing feels like an extension of our family and we love the challenges and confidence boost it adds to life.
Leona King: My husband, son, and myself all do karate together as a family. We absolutely love Tang Soo Do! The instructor, Mr. Randy, is amazing. He is an excellent teacher with lots of patience, encouragement, and understanding. The other students are also very helpful and encouraging as well. It's an extremely positive environment. This has been a powerful experience for our family. My son's teachers have noticed his rise in confidence and how his participation in class has greatly improved as well, and all within a couple of months. We are stronger both mentally and physically, and we've done it together. Also, it's quite affordable, there's a single rate, and a family rate for those who want to try it together. If you're looking for a fun, exciting, and positive experience, either for your kids, or as a family, this is the place to go. Really hope to see you there. Tang Soo!
Christopher Allen: This is an excellent place for families or individuals to learn and practice. I highly recommend it
Amanda McLendon: This is a great school with amazing people. From beginner to advanced, there are classes for all. This is a very family friendly place to learn Karate,
Barbra: My children love this school. My kids enjoy learning Tang Soo Do so much that they talked my boyfriend into joining too..lol .The instructor has a great knowledge of this art and shares not only his love of Tang Soo Do but, his passion for it with his students as well.
David Sexton: PKSA Lansing is great place for families to come together and learn martial arts. They have a wide range of ages and experience levels and is one of the friendliest environments I've ever encountered. It is great place for everyone from beginner to advanced learner.
