Mythi Nguyen: Above and Beyond is a wonderful warm home care.Brian and Renelda as owners and staff, do a phenomenal job with care, support, and love for all who reside here. They are genuinely invests themselves in understanding and addressing all cares needs for the seniors. The foods is home cooking healthy and fresh. The home is immaculate!My family is grateful to Brian and his wife for taking very good care of our dad.I would recommend Above and Beyond to anyone who has a loved one in need for the cares and supports.

They had a little welcome sign, balloons, and took time to come say hello. He liked the room, which was very clean and bright. The other residents were very friendly and eager to talk.

She looked forward to eating in the dining room and other activities with her friends. She had a weekly hair appointment at the salon. The staff know all the residents and visiting family members too.

We have been having some issues with the med team responding to her call button as of late. We are being told that the system is not working properly. While its awful to be waiting for more than an hour for someone to clean you up, my sisters and i are fearful that she may need more serious help and waiting over an hour is just not acceptable.

C D: Serene Gardens is a terrible place to place your loved ones, they don’t shower the residents, my mother consistently had urinary infections because of this. And this is kind of food they serve the residents, a piece of bologna between two slices of bread with a pickle sliver, this is disgusting! They consistently neglect the residents.

Mike Herman: I want to express my family’s gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at Pomeroy Living - Sterling.My Dad passed away quietly there on Feb 9, 2023 after a long battle with Dementia. My brother cared for him in-home until he could no longer give him all the attention he needed so, we made the hard decision to place him at Pomeroy. He was there for 10 months and it was the best decision we could have made for him. Every staff member he came in contact with took excellent care of him. They were attentive and caring and helped him with all aspects of his daily living there. I have to especially thank Robin Lanzon, The Director of Wellness, for all the times we called her for updates or with questions and she was always ready to talk to us about any of our concerns; and the many times I would pop into her office and she would always give me her time. My dad loved her too. Sharo Neza: I began a new process several weeks ago, in which, I never experienced, a search for an assisted living facility for my brother in law. When touring assisted living facilities, I was determined to find a place with the same comfort of home. My search was daunting because as I toured five facilities it was revealed that all facilities are not effective with proficient care of the residents. The assurance that my brother in law was well taken care, meant everything to me.Again each facility varies in amenities and effort to achieve quality care. After a week, I came across Pomeroy Living Sterling.My first impression with Tammy Barkho, Leasing Director was exceptional.She took time to interact with my niece and I in the description of the services provided i.e. housekeeping, and various outside activities, spiritual activities, physical activities, mental activities, and most importantly a friendly and cheerful staff, dedicated to the well-being of the residents. Ms. Barkho was communicative, informative, knowledgeable, and pleasant as she addressed all my inquiries.Overall there were many things I was unfamiliar with but the staff also provided me the information of all the ins and outs of the comforts that would be afforded my loved one as a resident. My decision came swiftly to select Pomeroy Living Sterling because the entire team of Pomeroy Living Sterling gave me insightful in-depth information.I am most thankful to God who guided me with divine providence to Pomeroy Living Sterling.

Maribeth R: We needed Pomeroy for respite care for a relative. After visiting multiple AL communities, this one stood out as number one. Tammy responded very quickly to my request for a tour. She spent over an hour with me and made sure every question was answered.The facilities are extremely clean and maintained. The rooms are a nice size and are up to date. The abundance of services they offer to their residents is amazing and provides much needed relief to the caregivers. THE ENTIRE STAFF is welcoming and helpful. I could never say enough about the care they provide. If you need assistance, you get the help. The staff made her feel welcome and at home and was very attentive to her needs. They also made us feel welcome with every visit. She loved the food and had a beautiful room. It was a bit of a drive for us to visit her, but it was worth it for the exceptional care.

David Popejoy: It was a great experience with my wife's stay at Pomeroy, and Tammy was great at explaining everything I needed to know before deciding on Pomeroy. I had toured another AL facility (which was cheaper), but Pomeroy seemed like a better option, and I was not disappointed.I had dreaded the day I moved my wife to Pomeroy, not knowing what to expect, but Tammy made it seamless transition. As soon as we arrived, Tammy was there to greet us, and quickly got my wife acclimated to her new home. I was also impressed by how much so many of the staff care for residents...they don't treat it as 'just a job'.The building was always kept neat & tidy, which made it even better. There were plenty of activities to keep my wife busy, and she enjoyed chatting with staff & other residents, until the latter stages of her Alzheimer's disease.

We love how the residents are involved in daily activities, and all are included at every level. My mom is happy, made lots of friends and enjoys the activities. We were very concerned about her move , but the staff went out of their way to make her transition seamless. The care givers made my mom feel at home from the first day!

Marie Horak: Update at twelfth month mark (July 2022) as Pomeroy ResidentMom continues to enjoy her apartment and stay. Woulda, shoulda, coulda questions a year later ? - NONE ! This was the most positive action we as a family have taken, as active caretakers in her life. Daily schedule, accurate monitored med program, fixed meal times, responsive staff and aides, fall alert system, visiting medical staff, field trips and daily activities have relieved many of the life issues of our mom. Plus an active family visit schedule, phone calls, occasion car ride / lunch / family event, seems to make mom a very happy camper. Thanks to Layla, Sara, Tammy, Mara, Angela, Mary, and the rest of the Staff.Update at the Eighth Month mark (March 2022) as a Pomeroy Resident,Family is happy and at ease with the positive, consistent level of care. Mom is genuinely content with her apartment at this new home. We visit and call often. Always a friendly greeting and check in at the front desk .Quiet, orderly clean and structured environment. Mom's medications, meals, services and activities are delivered as described on the website, brochures, and contract. The activities make for a full and varied day for her. The Pomeroy has enabled our family (kids, grandkids , nieces/nephews and cousins) to provide a fuller life for our Mom. Her life has been substantially enriched. An additional plus is (well behaved) family pets can be registered for visits.First Month (July 2021) review for Mom. Many thanks to Layla, Tammy, and Nurse Cathy and the rest of the staff, for their assistance in helping our family making the decisions, evaluations, and transition for Mom. Clean, positive, well run, and caring residence.

Chris Herman: As one of many families who care for an elderly parent or loved one, we had reached a point where we came to what we thought was a horrible decision of putting our Dad in a nursing facility because we could no longer care for him in the condition he had reached due to age and Dementia.With a lot of guilt, many questions and concerns, we started looking into nursing and memory facilities. He seems to think they are family and is generous with his hugs to them and receives just as many.When we visit, it feels comfortable walking into the building where we are always greeted and made welcome. They know us by name and are always available to answer any of our questions or concerns. We can easily approach any of the staff and they are always receptive in making us feel positive that our Dad is getting the best care we could ever have hoped for him. He has adjusted better than we imagined and he interacts well with his caregivers. There is plenty of activities and enough staff that they always know where mom is. She has a beautiful apartment and the food is real good too.

Rachel Hayden: Stay far, far away from this place.Monday night my grandfather climbed OUT HIS WINDOW and crossed Schoenherr in the middle of the night. He was picked up by a police cruiser and taken to the hospital. We received a call from the hospital before Randall realized he was missing. You would think that a memory care facility would have the foresight to put alarms or proper locks on their windows. They informed us that an alarm was installed on his window (and we hoped and assumed they would place alarms on every residents window after this).Well here I am, FOUR DAYS LATER. We got a call that he had gone into a neighboring room and climbed out their window. Luckily someone found him outside. The lack of safety in this facility astounds me. It makes you wonder if the people who run this place have dementia themselves.We live in Michigan, the temps are below freezing, and every resident that lives in this facility is at risk. We have had to move my grandfather three times in the past year and a half and here we are, faced with the idea of having to uproot him again because people can't put two brain cells together and keep him safe.Our family hasn't heard a word from management about either incident. And they are still not placing alarms on every window.

Within minutes of walking into this home and meeting Ms. Tracy, I knew this was where she needed to be. The home was so beautiful, clean and full of sunlight. I noticed a change in my Mother within a few days. The light had come back in her eyes and she loved her new home. Ms. Tracy and her wonderful staff treated her with so much love and respect. After many years, I was finally able to have peace of mind knowing how well she was being taken care of. We were so blessed to have had her last 6 months left being surrounded by so much love. He was lifted on a machine in order to be transferred from his bed to a wheel chair and vice versa. This was always done with care and compassion. He was unable to communicate as his words were mixed up. They always had patience and listened and made him feel comfortable. Good meals were prepared medication was given on time. Rachel Roberts: How is this place still open? The lack of care and compassion their staff has for the patients/residents is sickening. This place smells and is not clean at all. Staff ignores call lights and even residents screaming for hours for help and a nurse. For the staff to be standing in the hall laughing together. Seems like the staff is there for a paycheck not to actually help. They act like the residents are a nuisance or interrupting their day and conversations when they need help. Do better! Hire people that actually want to do their job and help others. Because right now it appears your cna’s/aids do not care about the people living there.
