American House Sterling Woods: what do users think?
Angela Smith: Looking for a senior living was very stressful for my mom & I but when I found American House and Todd along with it I knew she was in the right place & was going to be taken care of..Thank you for putting my mind at ease
Carol Soulard: I was very impressed with the facility , as well as with the friendly staff that works there. Todd Schuver, the Community Relations Director, took time to listen to my needs and was very thorough in answering my questions. The tour was extensive in covering the various apartments that are available as well as the amenities that are offered. Although I haven't made a decision at this time, American House Sterling Woods is definitely on my list of possibilities.
Destinee Doutry: Searching for the right place for my grandparents was overwhelming to say the least, after leaving we knew this was the place that would be perfect for them. The atmosphere felt like home, the staff and Todd have been awesome. We are looking forward to my grandparents to settle in! Huge huge thank you to everyone at American House Sterling Woods for helping us through this entire process!
Debbie Nunn: My mom recently moved into American House of Sterling Heights located at 16 mile and Vandyke Dyke. I want to express our many thanks to the facility, staff, and medical team for their warm. Kind and excellent service that has been provided for the next journal of my mom*s life. I especially want to give a special thank you to Todd on the management staff who provided great assistance on coordinating this move!!
Robert White: Just moved my mo. Into American House, Sterlingwoods, and I have to say Todd and all the staff their have gone way out of there way to make the change for my mom as painlessly possible, Todd even helped my mom find her cat in her apt. When the cat was hiding. I think my mother is adjusting well thanks to Todd and the staff there. And I am forever gratefull.
Cheryl Neme: We’ve recently moved my 93 year old mother with memory issues into American House Sterling Woods. Todd made her feel so welcome and provided sincere empathy with her as she was very nervous and emotional about it. Now she gives him a big hug when she sees him as they have become well acquainted. He even took the time to help her find her cat in her apartment. The food is good and Jennifer makes sure you are set up with everything you need and takes time to offer kind words and a smile. The residents we’ve encountered are all friendly and welcoming. We thought mom might have a tough time, but everyone is so kind and patient with her memory issues, it has been a non-issue instead. Thank you to American House staff who has made her transition easy. I would definitely recommend your facility to others.
jonathan raiss: Hands down the best place I have been here for 2 years now and my experience keeps getting better yesterday we had a blackout and her leadership was stellar I think I speak for the entire American house sterling woods family when I say thank you brittany for your leadership yesterday
Karen White: Karen WhiteMy siblings and I recently moved my mother (93 yrs old) into American House Sterling Woods. Physically, she’s healthy, but suffers with dementia. So you can imagine how confusing and scary this was for her!! The staff has made her feel sooo welcome there!! I wish I could mention everyone’s name but don’t know them all yet. But two people that stand out is Todd (Manager) and Jennifer (dining room). They are outstanding!! My mom may not remember there name, but I can tell you she gets a big smile on her face when she sees them!! The residents there are also very welcoming to newcomers. They have regular daily activities, entertainment, church, etc. Thank you American House for helping our mom feel so welcome at her new home!!!
Ron V: I had a very nice visit with the team there. They all seem to be very experienced and dedicated senior living professionals. They showed me around the building, and we had a great conversation.
Jessica Williamson: I scheduled a tour here for my mom and they invited us for lunch. The kitchen staff sat my mom at a table with some other residents they thought my mom would like. They were right! She had a great meal and had wonderful conversations. After looking at the apartment that Todd believed was a perfect match for her, she was ready to move in. On the way home she told me to message Todd and let him know she was going to move in. She said it just felt like home. My mom was concerned about leaving her home of 45 years, especially so soon after my dad had passed, but after the tour she began to get excited about her next chapter. My mom has been at Sterling Woods for almost a month now. She has found a group of ladies and they already seems inseparable. They craft together, play Bingo, share knitting patterns and ideas, and just laugh together. For the first 2 weeks my mom kept saying I'm so happy here. Which of course made me cry knowing she was going to be ok.The staff is caring and attentive. They call my mom to see if she is coming to Bingo, they know she likes it but sometimes falls asleep. The hallways, dining room and apartments are always clean and smell good.I am so happy I found this wonderful community and the fact that I live a half of a mile away from her now is a big bonus.
Linda Thielfoldt: Very nice facility and every person we met the day we toured was so friendly and helpful. Todd has an amazing personality and was beyond helpful. We had lunch and the food was nicely done. I would not hesitate to put anyone I loved in this facility, place is kept nice and it was very clean.
kelly miller: I will update my review in the Future, However if you think a place is short staffed and has bad food then donate your time and supply a little food to blaze them on here is unacceptable! by any standards ...
Adam McTaggart: Ally is the worst
Jennifer Paine: The facility staff for AH itself is GREAT!! However, the company that provides the care, AdvisaCare is absolutely terrible!!!!! We have to call at least weekly to the Care Manager due to the care staff not answering the call button, phone calls, not showing up for scheduled care, not doing the care they are being paid for, etc.
Donna Cooper: American House would be fine other than the fact that they have Advisa Care providing assistance to the residents. There is a great deal of confusion and the staff is unprofessional and under trained. Completely unreliable and rude. Not all but far too many. If your loved ones do not need assistance than it's fine. If they do need assistance you are rolling the dice. Again American House is fine using Advisa Care is the downfall
JANET F: This particular establishment has poor food and not enough staff. The director reached out to me and said she hired more staff and she will speak to the culinary staff.
sherry vollmer: I would highly recommend American House Sterling woods for your loved ones. The staff there is absolutely amazingThe director of community relations Laureen Vollmer went out of her way directly for me not only did she take take the time to help ease my mind but just watching her with residents shows she truly works from her heart. It’s a absolutely stunning and most importantly very clean.Thank you Laureen and y your amazing staff at American house I look forward to seeing you again!God Bless.
Curtis Gibbs: American House Sterling Woods is a great place for your loved ones to call home! Laureen and the rest of the staff are some of the most kind and caring individuals you'll meet while visiting any Senior Community within the area. With its clean, comfortable, and homey feel, you'll know you made the right choice as soon as you walk through the doors.
Max Strus: John, the ED at this American House location, is absolutely incompetent. I am only in when I visit my aunt, but everytime i’m there I see how poorly led this building is. He is rude and unapologetic. It’s a miracle that the rest of the staff is so terrific, because they do not take ages their management.
Cindy D.: Staff is always friendly and helpful. My mom is so comfortable there. I am comfortable having her live there. I appreciate everything they do for her!
Amanda Tatum: Awesome building I really love the service in the dining room

My Doctor’s Inn: what do users think?
Daniel Mawhorter: I've worked as a physical therapist at My Doctor's Inn for several years. It always amazed at how great the staff treats the residents with respect and kindness. I've recommended this assisted living to my family and friends.
Gail Welch: I love love love working here! It’s been a year this month and it will be the last place I ever work. I actually look forward to coming here every day. The residents are amazing and I would do anything to help them with their needs or to just make them smile. My coworkers are equally as great. I can’t say enough wonderful things about My Doctors Inn.
Patrice Hunter: Staff is accommodating and sensitive to my loved ones needs.
mrsoliver wiley: THIS PLACE HAS THE MOST RUDEST UNPLEASANT STAFF I'VE EVER CAME ACROSS IN ALL MY YEARS FROM THE FRONT DESK AND THE WHOLE ENTIRE BUILDING...ALWAYS A GHOST TOWN WHEN LOOKING FOR STAFF BUT WHEN YOU FIND SOMEONE THEY'RE ALWAYS SHORT WITH YOU ...SO YOU HATE TO EVEN ASK FOR ASSISTANCE BUT THEY WILL SEE FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE PATIENTS AND BE NICE TO THEM TO GET BROWNIE POINTS I'M A VERY HUMBLE PERSON SO I ALWAYS TRY TO KEEP MY COOL BUT ITS VERY HARD TO DO WHEN YOU COME ACROSS THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE I KNOW ITS HARD TO FIND GOOD STAFF NOWADAYS BUT ITS VERY SAD ....THE STAFF NEEDS TO BE INSERVICED ON HOW TO TREAT VISITORS CAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU MIGHT RUN ACROSS
Jennifer Burney: Sad....so sad....the care is deplorable.
Sue: Dad is currently living there. If your loved one has a lot of needs, this probably isn't the place for them. I have had to make a lot of phone calls to try get them to care for him properly. They are supposed to make sure he eats, drinks a lot of fluids, help with incontinence care, etc. None of this is being done consistently. The director is very difficult to get ahold of. They lost his dentures. He wears a pendent around his neck to push a button if he needs something. When they dressed him they put it in the laundry with his shirt. The only call button for the nurse's aid is in the bathroom, so we pay extra for the pendent.
Tom Noel: The facilities and staff are excellent. My mother loved her room and the people that worked with her so closely. Our family is grateful for the loving, professional care our mother received I would highly recommend My Doctor's Inn to anyone with an elderly family member that needs consistent and empathetic care and assistance.
Michele Casey: From the moment we entered this facility forward, we have been treated with love and kindness. My fear level was off the charts and everybody here when out of their way to ease my fear. Every single person including the director assistant directors every staff member has been kind and respectful to both my brother and myself. In a time where my life was literally crumbling in around me the staff here made me feel I was at home and I was safe and they did the same for my brother I honestly can’t thank them enough. My brother tested positive for COVID-19 on December 8 they alerted me immediately we discussed his care the Doctor Who is a doctor they use at their facility is wonderful Dr. Stefan he immediately ordered medications one care pharmacy was kind enough to drive them and deliver them I believe within an hour my brother is doing very well he has only exhibited very mild symptoms which is nothing short of a miracle considering all of the medical issues that he has. They have been absolutely fabulous with taking care of him and making sure he stayed safe.I have been impressed with the way they’ve handled the situation yes they have had a few positive cases but they’ve managed it and kept to a minimum.
Shirley Reifert: Mom has been here since July 1st after coming from a different assisted living place that although was beautiful they were not caring for my Mom or looking out for her as they should have. This pandemic has been stressful on everyone and I can't image how it is for the employees of My Doctor's Inn as well as those living there. Every single person I have met or spoken to have been super friendly and are so very nice to my Mom. You can tell by how they help her with her hair and her nails that they go above an beyond to help her maintain her appearance as she needs help with everything it seems. They are attentive to her normal routine and are quick to access if there is a change in her that requires medical attention. The management team is super responsive and empathic. Cannot be easy on them with everyone having to contact via phone right now. Guilia answering the phone and managing the front desk is such a joy to deal with. Thanks to the entire team for all that you do. It cannot be easy, particularly these days. Me and my family do appreciate it. She is precious to us and it's important to know that you think she is too!
Ellen Taylor: Aida, her management team and her staff have served a very difficult client in my Mother-in-law. They have done so with grace and compassion.During these unprecedented times, I believe that they have made the tough decisions to keep her and the rest of this very vulnerable and precious population as safe and well cared for as possible. I do not believe the decisions made have been easy or popular.Have I agreed with all that I have seen and experienced in the nearly 2 years Mom as been a resident at My Doctor's Inn? No. But I do understand that these professionals are trained and care deeply about the well being of their residents. My Doctor's Inn was our only option after Mom was unable to return to her previous placement. It has been a lifesaving help to our family. Thank you for the service you perform when we were unqualified and unable.
Leonard Leib: My Mother has been a resident at My Doctor's Inn for 4 1/2 years. We toured several facilities before making our choice. My Mom and our family are very happy with our decision because she gets the best of care and it's a great atmosphere. Numerous activities, events and dinners that family can participate in. I have always been impressed with the employees who are always welcoming and fun! Of course, the pandemic has limited visits and activities, but the staff has gone out of their way to keep the residents and the staff as safe as possible. 5 Stars for My Doctor's Inn!
Laura Bolton: My mother has been a resident at My Doctor’s Inn since 2017. I am very pleased with the level of care that she gets from the staff. The staff members are very knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. The overall environment is A plus. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering assisted living for a loved one.During COVID-19:This event has been very hard on us as a family and on my mom as a resident. My Doctor’s Inn has gone through great lengths to follow the proper protocol to keep the staff and our family members safe and involved with one another.I appreciate the kindness of the staff keeping us informed and coming up with ways to be involved at a distance. They had a Mother’s Day parade and Halloween activities that the residents could view from inside.Once again I would like to say thank you and keep up the good work while keeping our spirits up.
Audrey: My mother's been here for a couple of years, with dementia. The live music program (suspended currently due to covid) has been fantastic, with top quality performers - I go for my own enjoyment as much as to sit with my mother. The staff has been exceptional. The real test is I think what happens when family isn't there, and there have been several times I've stopped in unannounced and unexpected, and walked in to find staff sitting with my mother in her living room, going through her old photos with her, spending one on one quality time with her. With visiting 3-4 times a week for a couple years, I've never seen a staff member raise their voice or speak with anything other than kindness and patience and a smile to a resident - or to another staff member.
Kathy D: We looked for an assisted-living facility after our mother started having memory issues at her independent-living apartment. My Doctor's Inn has been wonderful for her, particularly the life enrichment activities. She enjoys the meals, and her private apartment is clean and bright. Recommended.
Glossy Babies: This place is horrible, they refused to send a patient out to the hospital when he came down with pneumonia because he didn’t show enough symptoms, he had it for 3 weeks when they finally sent him out he passed away at the hospital, that happened to 4 more patients but instead of pneumonia they had covid-19, which also they would lie to the carefriends about patients having covid-19 the supervisors are really disrespectful nasty and ghetto, somebody was behind the building getting busy in they all black pickup truck. The star need to do a thorough inspection and get that building up to part..
Colleen M Hammond: All of us siblings live out of state, so having our Mom in a great place was extremely important! I came and stayed in Michigan the first few months my Mom was at MDI, and was with Mom at MDI on a daily basis as she became accustomed to her new home.Being at MDI every day, I was able to observe the staff and the environment Mom was in with a close and critical eye. The activities were fun and stimulating for her, the live musical entertainers extremely talented (and seemed familiar with working with Seniors), and staff members were good natured and patient with all the residents.Rooms and public areas are kept clean, exit doors are secure (family members have fobs to let themselves in/out), and the residents get personal attention and care. One thing I want to note is that Mom's care and mental health is primary for the staff. For example, when us (4) siblings had a disagreement, the staff didn't "take sides" with one sibling over another but put my Mom's care and emotional state first. They also educated us on dementia and how important emotional stability is to our Mom's overall happiness for her remaining years and what we could do to foster and improve that for our Mom.Mom's care is foremost, I can call whenever I want and get 'behind the scenes' updates on how Mom is doing (Mom's memory of events isn't exactly 100%...), and living out-of-state, that's a great comfort!
Veronica Clark: I have worked at My Doctors Inn for 5 years this is one of the best places I ever worked. the administration is wonderful always there for their residents, staff, and residents family members the staff is very friendly the community is very clean if you are looking for a place for your family THIS IS THE PLACE for them to be
M K: I wish we could give 6 stars for My Doctor's Inn. Our mother feels like she is at a second home because of the friendly staff and all of the new friends she is making at the daily activities.Mom thinks that the meals are delicious. She really appreciates that when our father visits her that he has the ability to share a meal in the dining area with his wife.Mom has taken advantage of the hair salon and said that it made her feel refreshed after getting a new hair cut by a professional beautician. Finally there is a place that my semi-mobile mother can feel comfortable, receive rehabilitation and enjoy meeting new people.
Sandra E: We moved my mother-in-law into My Dr’s Inn several months ago from another facility and we are so happy that we did! The facility is kept very clean and the staff has been incredible from day one. From the administration, nursing, and care staff to the kitchen and maintenance staff everyone has been extremely professional, always understanding, and respectful of us and my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law has moderate Alzheimer’s and the staff has been amazing at helping to keep her as independent as possible while keeping her safe and meeting her changing care needs. We finally feel like we have found the place where she will be not only well cared for but respected so she can keep the dignity she deserves as her disease progresses.
Devin Phillips: THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!! IT LOOKS NICE WHEN YOU WALK IN BUT SOON AS THE FAMILY LEAVE POOR RESIDENTS SHALL I SAY WOKRED HERE FOR A YEAR..I RATHER JUST DIE!!!!!!!
Mitchell Kozera: Mom loves this place. The staff is really awesome! Our family found a real honest to goodness gem in My Doctor's Inn.

American House Sterling Meadows: what do users think?
Alexandra Grassi: The staff there is fabulous! So friendly and caring!
Deborah Studards: The lack of accountability that American House takes for the care providers they contract with is unbelievable. I am in the facility every week and see the care provided but facility management says it isn't their responsibility. The email was sent to the VP of Operations. The lack of response from her illustrates my point.
ken hicks: My dad has been a resident of Sterling Meadows since June 2021. This was a very important move for him, and one that he would not have been unable to consider had it not been for the help of the staff at Sterling Meadows. They were able to refer us to someone that provided assistance in dad's application for much needed and deserved benefits from the VA. Those benefits in turn afforded dad the opportunity to make an independent decision to move into Sterling Meadows where he could continue to live independently, but employ services as his needs indicated. All of the staff, from the director to the maintenance technician and everywhere in between, is helpful and courteous. Dad just went through a bit of a crisis which dictated a need for a higher level of services. Michele, at Sterling Meadows, was able to provide resources and information that gave us an opportunity to make the decision to move dad to American House Freedom Place. We are very grateful for all the help we've received. Thank you!
Evelyn Szymanski: Everyone is friendly and helpful in assisting my 97 year old mother who has lived there for over a year.
Becca Humphreys: I couldn't be more happy and thankful with the type of place Sterling Meadows is. My dad has been a resident here for a while now and he loves it. He has made so many new friends, attends many Veteran based meetings as well as events. Monthly birthday party, annual car show, family day, grandparents day and much more. They do so much for all the residents at American House.
Michelle Karpinen: I have a friend Helen here , and I would recommend this facility to all. They have so much activities that keep all the residents feeling happy and it's amazing to see the fun stuff they do for all occasions. They just had a car show and it was awesome..It gives family a good feeling knowing their loved ones are enjoying all the fun stuff to do there. Also great staff, medical , clean, and safe place.. ,Activities are amazing and to see them all so happy . GREAT PLACE.
Dayna F: They do so much with their residents. I just love the car show every year tons of nice cars, food and raffles. We really enjoy family bbqs and hearing about all the bus trips they take. Really just all around great people and environment
Emir Salkic: Such an amazing community, everyone is so friendly, it's clean, organized, fun, and relaxing. All my questions were answered very promptly and fast. I would recommend this community to anyone looking for a nice and settle home for their loved ones.
Sandra Machuga: So far not very good..we pay for extra services and they haven't followed through yet..I guess we have to go to the advisacare supervisor
Toolla2003: Everyone is so friendly. From the first moment I arrived, I felt very welcome. Its so clean and comfortable here too. All the residents are so happy. You can tell they enjoy living there.
Sonia Mosey: I have had the pleasure of dealing with the staff at American House Meadows and I can't say enough great things about this community. The people and workers are genuine and very helpful. This is a great place for seniors to call home!
Tammi Gripton: Great care! Very clean! Highly recommend!
j cat: UPDATE: Question. If I was in my 70's, 80's or 90's. Would I want to spend my possibly last Golden Days paying my considerably high rent from my life savings being told to stay in like a prisoner or would I rather go out take my chances and observe the rules of Covid-19 like everyone else? I'd rather take the latter.Another question. Would I be entitled to a 30% discount on my rent for the months I was held captive not entitled to any outing services, including just going out period, no activities, exercise or dining room privileges. It seems this company should be adjusting rent accordingly and then reporting their loss to the government for reimbursement as a tax loss right-off.During the virus scare there have been tight restrictions on these residents, their visitors and staff and that's understandable and done right but there is also a lot of tension and abrupt rudeness and dispensing of fond greetings by at least one of the office staff who has been there for quite a while. Some of the residents have been shunned from coming out of their rooms and been threatened with having to leave and find another place to live if they don't. These people deserve the utmost compassion in their golden years and the present situation and they are paying thousands per month to be treated this way. It has got to stop. Also with less visitors coming in, there have been some items coming up missing, even food and snack items. When it improves I'll update my review.
Ellie Halatsis: The staff at American House - Sterling, Schoenherr N of 14 mile, is exceptional. The big Kahuna, Todd, is very responsive to his residents needs and he and his staff do their very best to accommodate any specific requests (within reason and within the scope of the teams authority, of course). The medical team is an added bonus and though timing is everything, they do a good job of keeping the residents comfortable and well cared for. It is my honor to recommend this location to anyone in need of some extra help with the everyday living. And don't forget, you can be as busy here as you like. Or not. Plenty to do everyday if you want to stay active. Great job!
vincent fox: Great place. Great staff. Lots of fun activities always going on!
Kathy Pagliai: I have never met nicer people who love their jobs! I was impressed with the entire staffs level of professionalism, care, cleanliness, and most of all love. They love their residents and it shows in everything they do! The residents say they love living here too. I would highly recommend Sterling Meadows.
John Gressman: One elevator for 3 floors of disabled seniors no back up power in case of emergency. A law suit waiting to happen!I'm sitting here with my mother who is on oxygen power is out and I'm PISSED OFF!

Hearthstone Communities: what do users think?
ken alter, actor: My father has lived here for 2 years and is in final stages of his journey with Hospice. It’s an at-home environment in a lovely neighborhood. The care, attention and love he’s received from all of the caregivers has been everything we could possibly hope for. His quality of life in these homelike surroundings is far superior to what he would have received in a large facility. The ratio of caregivers to residents is so much better than at a “corporate” facility, without a doubt, (at approximately 1:2)When it’s my time, I want to be in a residential environment like this. 5 stars.
Mary Kaseta: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM! There is a language barrier, they get medication mixed up, and if you express your concerns they will tell you they can't do it. It's too much work and don't be loud they call protective services on you. They caused so much undo stress on my family. The case was unfounded.Filed a complaint with the state. Amazing no reviews before mine ? Now all good ones
Chuck Nevin: The owners and staff here who are compassionate, dedicated and experienced, treat everyone like members of their own families. Therefore, I highly recommend their communities.
Tom Alter: They have cared for my father since 2020 and provide kind attention and care.
Jim Christiani: Great place and people.
Ben Schlatter: Hearthstone Communities are great people who provide a caring a comfortable living for those who need assistance. I’m always made to feel very welcome when I visit the homes of the residents to play music. Highly recommended.
Gina Blum: The staff at Hearthstone is wonderful.. they are attentive and caring to all of the residents needs. They provide not only a safe environment but a fun one with entertainment, special birthdays, joyous holiday celebrations, etc. I highly recommend this community for your loved one.
Mari Orsini: My Mom has been at Hearthstone for about a year. She REALLY does love the people who take care of her and considers them family. The staff is VERY kind and they make sure that my Mom’s care is top notch. The house is always clean and I feel at home when I visit my Mom too. All of her medical concerns are addressed promptly and I am notified of any follow up. I am so glad that we found Hearthstone and we are EXTREMELY happy that she is there.
Janeth Palma: Awesome place !! Very kind caregiver ❤
K M: We are pleased after placing my Mom here at Hearthstone Communities. Mom is comfortable here, and they don't have a lot of residents, so they get more indivual attention. Home cooked meals, staff very attentive and helpful. The director keeps everything up to date and is easily accessible. Very happy overall.
Lawrence Cook: My mother is there she has been there a year, my mom had a stroke and is paralyzed on her left side she requires alot of assistance. Hearthstone is a beautiful place all my mom's needs are taken care of , she likes it there. The home is kept very clean and always a nice smell, nicely decarated for all holidays
