I had always had my exams and eyewear done at our office but after retiring in 2013 I had not found a good optician. My friend, also an optician, suggested Dr. Schwartz.I was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff from the moment I walked into the office. My exam was very professional and they seemed to have the latest equipment. The opticians were very knowledgeable and patient. Darla helped me sort through numerous pairs of old glasses helping me decide which to donate. I picked up my new glasses today and the vision and fit were perfect. I would definitely recommend this office.

They went through all my options and were focused on the better value versus trying to sell me. Truly looking out for me to save money instead of their profits.

Natasha Thielen: This is a very friendly practice. I believe they do a thorough job with examinations. My only disappointment was what I thought were unfair charges when I was working with the Dr to figure out if contact lenses would work for me. When I requested a different sample (5 contacts), they charged $60 for an office visit. I didn't see the Dr, just picked these up from the front desk. That's pretty steep. Then during my recent eye exam I wanted to finalize the choice of contacts. My prescription slightly changed, so it would be a new set of sample contacts. I was charged and extra $160 for evaluation. I think it would have been ethical to inform me of this extra charge before proceeding the discussion. I may not have gone through with this, as I am not even planning to use them regularly.

I spoke to a manager and he was supposed to schedule an appointment but never did when the day and date came. I called and rescheduled, they cancelled on me the day of that appointment. So now I’ve have another appointment next weekend. So from my first appointment to now maybe the fifth time is the charm. So disappointed in glasses that cost $700.00 after insurance.

Don't have back ups. Donate them through you guys. AND my current ones are not working well. My back ups would be worthless! So not happy I had to spend extra money for both of us for new frames when they were not needed. We may have to stretch out our visits longer from now on. Otherwise still like the office.

The employees were a little weird and unprofessional and the doctor told me it was okay to drive home on a sunny day after she had just dilated my eyes... but It wasn’t a big deal. The problem came when I refused to purchase over priced contact lenses from the Normandy location in Sterling Heights. The tech quoted me over 1,000 for a year supply of contacts in which I responded with no thank you, and asked for the prescription to be printed out.. He was hesitant, but gave it to me.. I went to purchase contacts online and when the online contact company called the Normandy location in Sterling Heights, a few days after my eye doctor appointment, someone there told them I was not a client and did not receive my eye Prescription from them and they could not verify my prescription. The online company, had to cancel my purchase, until I can verify my prescription.. as of right now I am out of contacts and will never go back to the Normandy optical Sterling Heights location.

Heena Uddin: I went in for an eye exam for glasses as well as contacts. I had never tried contacts before and found out on this day that I probably never will get them, as I get very squimish touching my own eyeball. It took forever to get one contact in my eye. Dr. Koehler was more than patient with me and encouraged me through the process. He was very nice and understanding. The rest of the staff are also highly professional and friendly. I would recommend this place for their services.

Daniel Sweeney: I’m half way through getting both eyes worked on for cataracts. My experience so far has been very good. I had almost no vision in my right eye and now I have 20/20 back in the right eye. Wow what a change! I think they do a very good job at telling what wrong and tell you the best way of getting your vision back. Would recommend in a heart beat

Ed Thomas: VIM has been my eye care facility for many years. When it came time to have surgery on both of my eyes, I had complete confidence in their medical staff and doctors. Dr. Novetsky was excellent in explaining surgical process, performing surgery and post operative follow-ups. I would recommend VIM to anyone considering eye care and/or eye surgery.

Melissa Stade: Just be aware! I went and got a hearing check and had to pay out of pocket up front for my hearing aids. I was to get a check for reimbursement for the amount covered by my insurance. 7 Months later I am still waiting for them to correctly bill my insurance and pay me back the money owed to me. They have given me every excuse under the sun as to why they haven't been able to bill my insurance.Update on November 2nd: it took seven months, but I finally got my refund. The staff at the reception desk are very friendly, I had no problems with the eye doctor I had seen there, this was one of the reasons I had come back to them. Gary who helped me with my hearing aids has been very helpful. But dealing with the billing department is a nightmare.

Bruce Thomson: Dr Berkowitz examined my vision and it was determined that my upper eyelids were blocking my field of vision. His laser procedure removed the excess skin and now one month later, my eyelids have healed and my ability to see has improved.

Kennedy Ellison: Very Poor Customer Service and I had a racist experience at this location, will never return. I had to switch eye care providers completely because once I called corporate nothing was done and no one called to follow up or apologize for my experience. My insurance card was waved in my face and contacts thrown across the table at me, I reported the staff member to corporate and no one from this location ever followed up with me. The rude customer care provider also used my insurance on an eye exam when I asked her not to and now I have to wait a whole year for another eye exam at my new eye care provider because they don’t sell the same brand of contacts. I have never had a worst experience like this ever in my life and I hope no one else does either, avoid this location at all costs.

Gloria Mueller: If I could give zero starts I would. The staff is SOOOOO rude!!! First thing was, I was told to sit at the glasses pick up. No one came to help, staff was sitting there doing nothing, on thier phones. She didnt tell me I was after someone or anything. So I eventually asked if I was in line. She was like "oh, I thought someone was coming to help you." Im like... well, you didnt say anything to anyone for that to happen, then you started texting on your phone... so not sure how that was supposed to happen. Then, when you get your glasses, they usually make sure they fit, they use that machine to make sure your eyes are in the correct spot, they ask you to wiggle your head to make sure they are not falling off.... not this place. The lady they had helping, first off, did NOT seem like she was interesting in helping me and then two, I dont think she knew or maybe wanted to see if my glasses fit. I ended up asking her if I was bothering her, because I was in disbelief. I was actually looking for somewhere else, but I have gone to America's Best before so I was like eh, sure. Nope.... never again.O, I also got contacts there and forgot my original glasses there. I called the next day to get them back... supposedly they arent there. I dont think they even cared to look.I will say, 2 people that helped me after were super nice and friendly. All the rest were rude.

Dan C.: They offer "Two pairs of glasses for $79.95". ( single lens) including free exam. If you need progressive lenses be prepared to pay at least '3 times' that amount for ONE PAIR, depending on the grade of progression you want (6 different grades). NO free exam either. I ended up paying $330.00 for ONE pair of glasses. Had to return them after 2 adjustments AND a call to corporate because their first prescription was wrong and everything was blurred. I did get a new exam and Rx (no extra cost) after 3 additional weeks. Be very careful with this place. I'll never go back to America's WORST.NOTE: After posting this review America's Best contacted me requesting my information regarding this issue so they could help me. I sent a copy of my purchase receipt as well as a copy of the chat session with their customer support . To date, I have heard NOTHING from them. I suggest when you need glasses DO NOT GO TO America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses!!!!!BTW, the Sterling Heights store I went to is no longer in business. ?????

Not only did she go above and beyond to find the frames for my son, she made sure that the location kept them on hold until I arrived. The staff is super friendly and very efficient. Not once did I receive any push back or grief. I’m absolutely blown away by their customer service, in a good way. I’ll never get a pair of glasses/contacts anywhere else.

Lisa (The Sterling Critic): I thoroughly like this location, everyone that works there and the doctor are all super friendly. They have good prices. According to my visit the other day it seems like prices have not went up and glasses. I would highly recommend this location. The only thing that was a little deceiving was the buy one get 1/2 off. They take the half off of the retail price so it’s not half off the price that you paid for your original glasses, it’s almost double.
