(commenting this under a different name)

Claire Szurk: I’ve been going to New Oakland Family centers for about 10 years, out of the ten years I’ve apparently had 19 no call no shows and now they won’t take me back. I can’t even go to a different location. I had gotten into an accident and felt like I needed to come back, both my parents and I had called several times basically begging on our hands and knees for a call back from the director, we left our name and numbers multiple times. Finally I had gotten ahold of her and she emailed my old therapist to see if she’d take me back, except now at this point she had apparently moved to one of their different programs and Is not accepting anymore patients. I just wish they had gotten back to me sooner. Time to re-tell my entire life story to about 20 different therapists.

Deneen Alexander: This is our first day putting my son in face to face. So far so good. Everyone seems really friendly. The only thing I’m not crazy about is that they don’t have any psychiatrists on staff. Just nurse practitioners. No doctors. Just seems odd to have a mental illness facility without a psychiatrist.

Ashley Diaz: I was a patient here a couple years ago not to long ago and I was for along time and I Would not recommend any adults to go here or children this place ruined my life by giving me medication I shouldn’t have been taken and now I have health issues but if you want to roll the dice with them go ahead and also there front desk is unprofessional talking about patients with therapist and this place is suppose to be for mental health but they act like they can’t handle certain patients and the director of the facility is so disrespectful she acted like she wanted to help me but really she was just getting mad at me because I was trying to have her help my situation that they put me in and also I had a family member go here because I was and he was a child and one of the joke of body guards that are suppose to keep the children in check slammed my family on the ground and this is a kid and that’s why I said children to because they can’t handle it professionally but I hope who is going here that things turned out better than mine because of them my health is so bad I have to have my boyfriend check on me when I’m sleeping.

Margaret R: I attended their face to face program and had a really great experience. The info they cover won't necessarily be the right fit for EVERYONE but I did get everything I needed from their program and left in such a better place than when I arrived. When I arrived I was in a constant panic attack. I've tried 5 different meds in the past for depression and anxiety, so I wasn't hopeful but they got it right on the first try! I will say that you'll only get out what you put in. You have to actively participate in group and explore the topics recommended. If they aren't covering a topic you need, or want to do a deeper dive on topics you touched on, they were always happy to go above & beyond getting me more information and resources & recommendations. I met with the prescriber every other day pretty much, and the therapist 2x/week and had an actively participating group so it was really great exploration. Paige did such an amazing job at group facilitation and helping us explore our thought patterns & behaviors to help me have some pretty big realizations of ways I can manage everything in an easier path that will really help set me up for success moving forward. I'm so grateful for their program! You also get lunch everyday, which helped me make sure I was eating at a time when it was difficult to care for my basic needs. They also have free transportation to & from the program and a 24 hour hotline for emergencies for any patient. The program also has outpatient therapy and psychiatry readily available to the community. This is such an amazing & well rounded mental health team! I'm so thankful that they were apart of my healing journey and helped lift me out of crisis. Thank you to the whole staff for your true kindness, genuine care, and passion. You're doing amazing work and probably don't get praised enough. I will definitely recommend this location and program to others in a similar struggle as mine. Again, this program probably won't meet the needs of every single person but they do work hard to help get a person out of crisis and on a path to a better quality of life.

Tried to set up to see a therapist through the Macomb Mental Health Center and the therapist Hannah Villapando lied and said she saw me when she absolutely did not do!! Taking advantage of the mentally ill is the lowest of the low and I hope they take her off the list or fire her for lying!

Karin Curly: Very unprofessional office.Back in April my son needed counseling. Took 2 months to get an assessment.After assessment was told a counselor would call to make his first appointment. It’s almost August. Four months and we are still waiting.. what a waste of time

Holly McCarthy: My son has been going to New Oakland for at least 10 years and at first it was ok. But then he had to change therapists because his therapist left and a couple times recently, he had a appointment with the psychiatrist which is who he gets his meds from and we showed up for his appt at the date and time that was written on the appointment card that was given to us by his psychiatrist and they didn't have his appt in their system. With these gas prices being high and going higher, I don't have gas to waste going there and not being seen. I'm very upset with New Oakland and will be finding a different facility to take my son to. They aren't really helping with his behavior issues anyways. I would give them zero stars if I could. They need to get it together and not double book people and then not take them when they do show up especially when I have a appointment card given to me by the psychiatrist herself when she scheduled the appointment.

Lori Hilgendorf: High turnover of therapists and was hung up on during conversation about appointments. Very rude, no compassion for patients and behavioral management. Don't start visits with New Oakland if you have other choices.

Heather Grant: I had an intake at the center line location. I was promised A call back for schedule. It didn’t happen two days later like the interviewer said. The call happened more like five days later and it was late in the day; but I was happy to accept an appointment at this Warren location. The appointment went well and the person I saw was very professional; but technically the appointment was after the receptionist went home. so it’s good that I came early without being told ahead of time. They lock the doors at 6 but my appointment was for 645.I really needed these services so I’m giving them four stars because it worked out, but I can see why other people are very frustrated. if they didn’t understand about last-minute cancellations being kind of the only way you can get in during Covid when everybody wants treatment.

Briana Mongogna: The adult program if you get sick your ganna get kicked out the program but the staff is nice but the supervisor doesn't answer phone when u call and they never call back

Josh Gariepy: If you go here, you will undoubtedly be screwed over at least once by the incompetent office and administration staff, if not your actual doctor. You WILL have providers switched constantly on you, resulting in having to retell your life story every time. You WILL have appointments cancelled where they fail to notify you, and you WILL have issues obtaining medications on your insurance in a timely fashion. It's a clown show.

Jessica Janetsky: Stay away from this particular location. For starters, you never meet with your therapist. You get pulled into your therapists office for maybe 5 minutes every 4-5 days just to ask a few basic questions, but besides that, you never get to actually meet and truly talk with a therapist. You are expected to sit in group therapy, all day every day, most days you won’t even be pulled out once to see or talk to someone. It took me a week to speak with an actual psychiatrist, before that you meet with students who don’t seem to truly be listening to you. I had one student who made it very obvious he wasn’t listening to a word I was saying. I was instead being contradicted and told that I was wrong and that I essentially don’t feel the way that I feel. Once I finally got to meet with a psychiatrist (who never actually talked to me herself, just listened to what her students who met with me for 10 minutes max had to say) who instantly tried to shove medication down my throat with no knowledge about me besides the small bits her students had shared. On top of that Dr Sheba was EXTREMELY unprofessional. Instead of actually focusing on me, she spent more time on the phone with her daughter, telling her the answers to her math test and texting away, paying more attention to her phone and helping her daughter cheat a test than the did actually talking to me. I would be in the midst of talking and would be told to wait so that she could finish her text message. After only a week at this particular location I stayed with my dad in Flint and transferred to that location. I found Flint to still not be perfect, but a lot better than the Warren location. Although their program also wasn’t perfect, having a therapist not a lot of people are fond of, they have a phenomenal psychiatrist at that location who I genuinely wish was in a practice outside of New Oakland. Overall, I do not suggest New Oakland to anyone who is actually, truly wanting help.

Dawson Bailey: Would not go back. I’ve been trying to get in for an appointment for 3 months now and still nothing. I got charged $240 for a 5 minute conversation on the phone. Outrageous.

Jennifer Gutierrez: I had made a couple of appointments for my daughter and both times the doctor didn't call us. She actually marked us as a "no show" on one of the visits. Dr. Smith the psychiatrist.

patricia Campos: Friendly staff, they are very helpful. Really like my therapist and psychologist, willing to drive 15 to 20 minute drive because of both doctors. Glad that my primary doctor recommended new Oakland. Was at a low point in my treatment plan for my depression with primary doctor. Didn't feel like he was really listening to me and just upping my dosage. Was taking 300mg of venlafaxine per day and 250 or 500mg of depakote.Thankfully after being referred to new Oakland both doctors helped me and I'm no longer taking venlafaxine 100mg 3 times a day.Thanks to both of my doctors, happy that I have been a patient for about 6 years now.New Oakland is worth checking out.

From my doctor, my therapist even the awesome receptionist i absolutely love all of them. I truly mean that, they all have helped me get through some of my roughest times and still continue to do so. Moko Reece: I’m outdone at the way this office is ran. There is no way we should get treated like we do when we need help. My case worker called two weeks ago, asking why I have called her numerous time and said my benefits should not be cut off when they were! Then she stated she had to verify my paper work, called my job and clearly got her verification. That was very embarrassing considering my whole job knows that I’m seeking help. So you get your verification and you’re still questioning my supervisor, she confirms I’m working $ still no answer. Now two weeks have passed my benefits are still cut off, and she hasn’t returned my calls or the supervisor. It’s hard enough to seek help, but they make you feel worse. They’re acting like they pay out of pocket for us to receive assistance. Why accept the job if you don’t want to work and treat the clients horribly. I’ll be fine, and I know I’ll get the help I currently need, but I definitely will not let this go under the rug. Something has to be done about this office.

P Morgan: This is by far the worst location of DHS I’ve ever came across . My worker Ms. Carden is the worst worker I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve been waiting for 3 months for emergency food benefits , I’ve still gotten no benefits, no calls , no letters , no updates! I instead received a letter from her asking me “why do I keep applying she has time to work on my case “ mind you this was 90 days later and the limit is 30 days. You can not get through to anyone , not a supervisor nor the front desk and now you can’t even leave messages. They should be investigated and shut down , they do not care about the people at all. Especially Ms Carden she doesn’t even do her job.

Kristen Gielecki: My caseworker is great. I just can't get hold of her anymore. Their "new and improved" system is a malfunctioning dumpster fire that gives me (literally) a five-minute taped message before sending me to the menu options, which then tell me my ZIP Code doesn't exist and hangs up.

The Love Fam: This place is a joke. They are not here to help those in need. I lost my job end of December. Applied for food on 12/30/22 for expedited processing since I have no income. FINALLY got a phone interview on 1/12/23 after given the run around for a week on interview times to be told by my case worker Mr. Rivard my application would be processed no later than 1/13/23. It’s now 1/19/23 I’ve called and emailed everyday, I’ve left messages for supervisor and Lansing and still nothing. I have 3 kids aged 13-8 months and I’ve been begging for help. When I went through this 5+ years ago it was not like this. I do not understand the state of MI needs an overhaul of this office!!

I keep calling back its the same thing but someone is literally doing it on purpose. with all this back and forth you could have answered my question.

I’m begging for a new worker and they always say they can’t do anything. My food benefits was cut off for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Because she haven’t submitted a application that was turn in mid December. I need landing to step in and investigate asap. I will not let this go!!!!

Tom Distler: They scheduled a telephone appointment and never called. I left a voicemail same day with no return phone call. The next day I was sent a letter stating that I "missed" the appointment. Left another voicemail with no return phone call. Please do not work for the community, if you will not provide services for that community.

David K: This place is terrific, my doctor's great and even cracked my back when it needed it, and he's an older dude too. And than I received a hot bath with lavender and one of those bath bombs, and I can't even tell ya how amazing it was. He went above and beyond, he still comes over every Sunday for the family bbqs, and always brings his magical sauce I just can't get enough of. I would definitely recommend

Roxi Dlite: Absolutely a pleasure from the start. The staff here are so kind and my visit today with Dr. Joucys was really great. It was my first time seeing him and the first time in my life that I didn’t feel rushed in the exam room. He took time to get to know me and shared a bit about himself too. He listened to me and took time to answer questions I had and explained in detail. He was extremely friendly, charming and funny. I also love that they are integrating behavioral heath with physical health and I think more places should do this because I believe the mind and body are connected! Thank you Judson Center I will return. Top notch experience!

I called bk 24 hrs AFTER leaving an emergency message, to be told the dr wouldn’t call me bk til Monday (SIX DAYS AFTER LEAVING AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE) This is the 2nd psychiatrist my child has seen here - the failed to tell me the 1st one left their office. This place is legitimately a joke. They want to pump the kids full of meds - like their a lab rat. I will be looking for a new psychiatrist Friday.

Tommy Post: A wonderful person saved my spot and I will be updating this asap but Judson now compared to when I first went has progressed ALOT. would recommend (9/21/21)Lost my ability to be seen due to lack of communication, on a waiting list as of right now, Will start off saying, if you have the ability to be seen somehow... I have really loved being at Judson, they have wonderful staff especially their front desk, and in the past their other directors and things, but recently had to deal with ALOT of confusion, losing a therapist again, then never hearing back when I was told I would be called when mine was replaced asked to wait 2 months between visits because it was easier (which is fine once, or as needed), then only finding out a few months after working with my assigned medical professionals to begin going without panic attacks everyday for the first time in over 5 years, that my case was closed without contact, and a very bad explanation (was told that I never returned calls, but that is impossible, also have a family friend who had the same therapist and nurse practitioner, and was replaced, but I never got the call that they did, which is the reason I finally stopped waiting and called, I even went in office to fill out paperwork in between, was, told I was still waiting) I was hoping that I could have this issue solved, but there seems to be no chance, as I have no expected time to return let alone in a timely safe fashion, or way of continuing actually LIVING my new improved life without crippling panic attacks at least once a day. So I have been forced to go on a mad scramble to find a replacement. Wish me luck.If not for this horrible action (some people are less stable than myself and this could end their lives, or ruin them in such profoundly irresponsible and just wrong, I will survive, some I pray for them as I cant be the only one.) I would have written a glowing review with 5/5 stars, only noting the lack of consistent therapists which is out of their control mostly.(New updated review, will edit if anything changes AGAIN @5/13/2021)update is coming

Sweet Dreams: Scheduling appointments by phone is the worst. Even if you call in and speak to someone to tell them that you will not make it, they label you as a no call no show. It is ridiculous. Make sure to gather the agents name and information because it seems like the appointment center needs lots of training.

James Bond: One of the dental assistants gave my wife the wrong address for a tooth extraction. Made the appointment a month ago. Hard to take a day off from work. Had to reschedule and take another day off from work. How hard is it to give out correct information? Need more trained professionals at this location. Manager and front desk staff were sincere.

Thea Baker: This a good clinic for underserved. I am currently seeing Dr C.Taylor the dentist. She and staff are the utmost professionals I have never waited other than a few minutes. But Dr. Taylor I love she is gentle and very skilled. She will be my dentist for many years to come

Amy Duda: My daughter has been with Becky going on 4 years now, and my one year old since she could attend daycare at a few months old as well. We LOVE Becky and would highly recommend her to ANYONE. Becky is always available and takes such great care of our girls. I would not trust them with anyone else. The atmosphere of the daycare is so much like family and my kids have made real friendships with the other children there 3I give this daycare 5 big stars!

Jeannie Lenk: I LOVE this day care. My children are always excited to go. And sometimes they don't want to leave because they would rather stay and continue playing. I also feel my children are in good/safe hands here. If there is any concern Becky contacts me. She is also very easy to get a hold of, which is important to me when I want to know how my children are doing. I would highly recommend this child care.
