Cooper's Gym: what do users think?
Monjoa Likine: Wanted to charge me $350+ without giving any information or letting me check out the gym or the instructors. They then told me to stay where I was at & their next opening wouldn’t be for another 9-months. I never appreciate fast sales like this. Oh and personal training starts at $1,500 an hour.
Piereese crump: Unprofessional and shady, as a real fighter it’s crazy they won’t even let you be in the gym until you pay to train with them… like why I can’t atleast watch to see if I like it. This not the place to go if you wanna be a killer this give me title gym vibes.
Louis Ramirez: Best gym in Detroit if you’re looking to get boxing or Muay thai experience. Great price too
Hussam Ammar: Super unprofessional
hulk rogan: Critical:ProfessionalismI am totally convinced that all of the good reviews are fake, this gym is a joke. There is no true martial artist teacher there. The teachers are so bad, and you Feel the insecurity in them. Beware
Moe Sabz: the two people I spoke with were very unprofessional and rude, the way they pitch their sales has SCAM written all over it, I was telling the guy me and my cousin want to check the place out and sign up if possible, he told me the only way i can go inside is if I sign up.... like what... my dude you want me to pay for a 6 month agreement before even looking at the place..not surprised after reading all the other reviews concerning the same problem
brendon carey: Critical:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Dirgam Alhusseiny: Love the gym and the experience couldn’t recommend it more coach buck is very helpful friendly environment great for learning sensei is very helpful and very understanding
Mike Ameer: Don't fall for their sales technique by causing Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) and pressuring you into signing up. Comes off very unethical and shady. I don't think a great Dojo need to apply those strategies.
Squall Leonhart: Amazing for just about any martial art the coaches are champions so there very qualified to teach any mixed marital arts
Jaun Sandwiches: Just so it can be a 5 star
Elliot Cooper: Come learn and fun in a rewarding and fun place
Sams Kids: Nice gym defenitly the place u wanna get into shape at only reson took one star off is cause they dont do as much sparring as i would like
Lance Lucern: PROS:1. Multiple locations2. Multiple disciplines trained3. They don't go easy on you in general (so you get results)4. They can work with you on payment plans5. Multiple instructors (both male and female)6. Members are looked at as part of one big Cooper's family7. A lot of training equipment8. Safety and discipline generally stressed9. They are good motivators in generalCONS1. While they purport to offer a whole lot of different systems and martial styles, they tend to steer you to the systems they want you to learn while ignoring what you want.2. The instructors often don't seem to be on the same page. What one instructor tells you in one class is often contradicted by another instructor in another class.3. The family feel and atmosphere sometimes strays over into feeling almost cult like.4. Though they have a lot of good equipment, most of the locations I saw could use better equipment set ups in general (e.g. they need more hanging bags).5. At certain locations parking can be a problem.Coopers is a good gym if you want to get in shape, learn basic self defense, martial arts or fighting sports. They don't go easy on you like a lot of places which charge an arm and a leg but, baby and pamper their students because they are afraid of losing paying customers. You will get into shape quickly and learn good basic skills that you will be confident in using in a self defense situation. A lot of places just tell their students what they want to hear and have students walking around thinking they have proficiency and skills they really don't possess. That could get you killed. On the other hand, Cooper's does have some issues they need to address. Some of the members join for boxing, MMA or other fighting sports but, complain they never get any bouts/fights scheduled despite many promises to the contrary. They also seem to welch on other things. I trained there a while ago and was told multiple times I could train in some different disciplines they claimed they offered but, I was stone walled for months. All indications were that they were feeding me BS the whole time. The head guy, while nice, swore up and down they taught all kinds of different systems which I never saw any traces of. It was like dealing with used car salesmen and cult members all rolled into one.The basic classes are affordable but, if you want to learn real skills beyond the most rudimentary, you need to get Cooper's private lessons which cost an arm and a leg.Sometimes some of the classes will shut down out of the blue for extended periods of time with no word from anyone. Also, while questions are not discouraged, they clam up if you ask the "wrong ones" (like, "What happened to such'n such instructor that disappeared a month ago?").Due to my contract period running out, schedule, and a non training related injury, I stopped training there. At first the training got me into good shape and I progressed on the basics but, shortly after that I realized that the general classes were not set up for much progression beyond learning the basics. You have to pay a lot to go beyond. That, and being given the run-around about other systems they claimed to teach, prompted me to reflect on where I wanted to go from there. I may return but, at this point it's not likely. I wish Cooper's well either way but, their program would be a lot better if they stopped to reorganize it.If you're serious, it's still better than your typical strip-mall Tae Kwon Do or Aikido class though. If you are just looking for basic self defense and/or staying in shape then Cooper's Gym is certainly above average. If however, you are looking for a specific system, advanced training, and/or competition at an affordable cost, then Cooper's is hit or miss when it comes to how good it is.
Eric Fortuna: Great gym love fighting very expensive however
Ester Ruiz: My kids love attending classes at Coopers Gym. They've learned alot in a short period of time. Instructors and are friendly and helpful.
Amer Kundra: Best gym
Fitam Eskettit: Wish my membership could have lasted forver great gym would reccomend to anyone way more hands on than big company gyms so progress is gaurnteed
Swipegoat K: Great gym
B Rad: Great gym will throw u right in to fight
Shre Burton: My daughter who is 12 has been boxing here for about 6 months and her confidence has grown her attitude has changed even her physical appearance changed she feels good and she's excited about training this is a good place

Allegiance Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?
Tyler Guy: Just had my first class here and I absolutely loved it
Daniel Blake: Fantastic place to train with outstanding people. The atmosphere is positively contagious and everyone has a great attitude to help.
Braden Morton: Very nice 👌
James Mason: My son does kids Jiu Jitsu here, and he absolutely loves it. The instructors are great, very knowledgeable, and also very patient with the kids. I couldn't ask for a better setup for having my kids learn Jiu Jitsu.
Joe Wright: Learning so much.
Yuli Kaplunovsky: Doing kickboxing here for almost 2 years ... not bad...
Mike Pelkey: Best place to learn BJJ, Judo, kickboxing, great instructors with a welcoming family like environment, it has been life changing experience mentally and physically, this is truly my happy place(: !
Anthony Delegato: Chris and Brendan run an outstanding gym in Allegiance. they are amazing individuals, coaches, teammates and family. the level of intra-gym competition here is awesome, "steel sharpens steel", the saying goes. if you're looking to improve your skills, whether it be for competition or self defense, this is the place. bjj, judo, striking, mma, this place has it all and there's a pack of killers training here every day of the week. not only that but the storage here is welcoming and these nuts that train here i consider family. leave the ego at the door and train hard!
Chris Sensini: Only gym I would ever train at there’s a special bond you gain with your team when you train at this gym
anne bleser: I go there it is like a stress reliever
David Foster: Great place to learn. Coaches and other students are more than willing to share technique with you. I highly recommend this place
ben krockta: Great gym to train at and make some good friends. The coaching is amazing and the people there make it easy to unwind and be yourself. People train at your pace. Since joining I have competed in competition and look forward to the next one!
jeff baughman: I love allegiance gym!! This is honestly where I've showed my best results. The team is constantly motivating me. I'd like to say I found a home at allegiance and these awesome people are my family.
V McB: Great place to train. Clean new facility, and great instructors.
Ed Gawrelak: The best gym with probably the largest mat area in the state. The coaches are very knowledgeable with years of experience in Judo and Jiu jitsu.
Matheus Veloso: Great place to train and make friends! I've been doing bjj and judo for over 20 years and there is no place like this. Instruction is great from kids, beginner and adult classes. Very knowledgeable people, friendly staff and awesome family environment. Come in to this place and check it out, the owner will always answer the phone and be ready to give you all the information you need to get started!!!
Mo: I found Allegiance after training at a different shop for a few years. Initially, I was skeptical and did not think I was going to stay for long, but I'm still here. It was not the world class training that kept me here or the competitive pricing; it was the people that kept me here. I cannot compare this community to any other. The warmth and level of familiarity you feel with these people from week one is very different from other training facilities. I'm not asking you to sign up. I'm asking you to have an open mind and go in and talk to the people there. I promise you will want to come back for more.
Krystian Maslowski: Great place to start or continue your journey with Brazilian jiu jitsu. The team is very passionate about the sport, which makes learning new technique even easier. You will find out quickly that becoming a member of the family comes fast.
Stephen Colegio: Great place to train Jiu Juitsu, Gi or no-Gi. Plenty of room, new, clean mats and pleanty of parking. Quality instruction with plenty of people from high level to beginner to train and learn with. It is a great team atmosphere.
Raymond Stratos: I can’t explain how amazing this gym is!!! From the facility To the coaching to the amazing people that you deal with every day. The people in this gym are like family I drive an hour 6 days a week to come train at this gym and I wouldn’t want to train anywhere else.
lukewandyg: Best place for BJJ in Michigan! The facility is large and everything is new. But that’s nothing compared to the family feeling at this gym. Everyone gets along and there’s a lot of respect amongst members. Everyone wants you to succeed and do well. The instruction from the coaches here is top notch. Do yourself a favor and get up here!!!

College of Martial Arts: what do users think?
Keith West: The College of Martial Arts is an exceptional dojo with a great staff and students. I joined the adult class six months ago and have loved learning the art of karate and self defense. Sensei, Senpai and all the instructors are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and dedicated to their craft. Since I started my training here, I’ve noticed a great improvement in my self confidence and physical fitness, and I plan to enroll my children when they are old enough so they can benefit from the same things. I highly recommend this dojo!
Dana Lindstrom: College of Martial Arts is not just a place for people to learn self defense, they treat everyone like family. My child has been on her way to black belt excellence for two and a half years now, inspired since day one. Sensei, Senpai, and all of their black belt instructors are the greatest role models a kid could have. The structure of their classes and curriculum are on point! At only 8 years old in her first ever competition, she won a 1st place trophy because of all that she learned here. They built her up with confidence and integrity and I am proud of how hard she works on everything. This is what she looks forward to most in life and she wants to teach karate in the future too. My 10 year old is more mature then most 20 year olds and it doesn't matter the age, they work very well with everyone! The dojo is very clean, when I have a question they're easy to get ahold of, and they have special events too.If you want your kid to grow up to be a great person, don't hesitate! This was the best decision we've ever made.
Seth Bliss: Highly recommended! Extremely friendly staff, knowledgeable instructors, encouraging students, well balanced and clean. My family has a great place to grow and build important life skills here. I will continue to support this business and participate as a parent, to watch my family grow confidence, balance and make friends in a healthy environment.
Naida Causevic: I started this school right before going to a new Highschool. I always struggled with self confidence and was bullied throughout elementary and middle school. Starting my martial arts journey in 2017 was the best decision that I made. I can't even express how amazing Sensei and senpai are. They helped me grow in more ways than they can imagine. I could talk about karate for hours and my friends can never hear the end of my karate stories. At the college of martial I discovered who I was and I am becoming the best version of myself. I continuously learn more about myself and develop my character everyday. They aren't just my Sensei and senpai, they are like family. I love all the students and families that make this facility come together! 3 here are a few pictures (of many) that I cherish.
OG Beards: College of Martial Arts is a great school. My wife, two boys, and I all train together. Sensei Burtney is a great teacher with amazing skill and many years of experience. He and the staff are all very friendly, helpful, and encouraging. They encourage growth both in Karate and life as well. We look forward to every class. The classes are filled with friendly students who encourage and help each other improve. If you're looking for a school to learn Karate, get fit, and improve your overall health, College of Martial Arts is where you want to be. Sign up for an intro class today.
Serafina Ventimiglia: This dojo deserves 10 stars! We absolutely love it here. We have watched our daughter blossom and grow so much here. She now has more confidence, strength, determination, awareness, and spirit! The teachers and staff are all very skilled, knowledgeable, and always very welcoming. I would also recommend this dojo to anyone of any age. It’s never too late!
Civan Miya: Good and friendly teacher
melissa leggett: Karate started as something for my 5-year-old son to do and remain active. My dad was walking by the Dojo and asked if he could sign my son up. I told him OK, thinking it would be a couple month thing and no big deal. Fast forward to 7 years later and I can honestly say that saying yes to signing him up was the best decision I have ever made as a mother.Karate has taught my son about Confidence, Respect, Discipline, Leadership and Relationships:Confidence:Sensei and Senpai have become role models and family to my son. He is always wanting to make them proud and would be devastated if he ever disappointed them. They have made him confident and comfortable talking to adults and having conversations that most 12-year-old boys would find difficult to have. The relationships that my son has built throughout his karate journey has been wonderful to watch. When he first began, he was just a shy little boy that would not talk to anyone, then he began friendships with a few of the other boys in the class, when he became a brown belt he developed friendships where he began talking to other people outside of the Dojo. When my son became a Junior Black Belt is when I noticed the most change. The friendships became like a family relationship. He would talk to multiple classmates outside of the Dojo, they would laugh and talk in a group chat amongst 4 or 5 of them. He also developed relationships with the black belts that are older than him who have watched him grow because when he first started, they were where he is now. The staff that Sensei and Senpai have around them is just as incredible as they are. My son has multiple friends from karate that he talks to outside of the Dojo and they range in age from 11-23. I love that he has such a variety of friends as each one has something to teach him as well. You never want anything bad to happen, but I can honestly say that I know if anything were to ever happen, he would have an amazing support system from his COMA family behind him to help him through anything that life throws at him.His love for Karate is greatly in part because of Sensei and Senpai. I encourage any parent to enroll their child in The College of Martial Arts, because I know it was the best choice I ever made, and I would make the same choice one thousand times over again. There are not enough words to express my gratitude to Sensei, Senpai and the College of Martial Arts family for everything that they have given/done for my son. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I am grateful that the College of Martial Arts is part of my village.
Mike D: Highly Recommended College of Martial Arts.Sensei, Sempai and ALL staff are a joy to be around. As soon as you walk in to the dojo you are greeted with smiles and a positive atmosphere that puts a smile on your face. You have that feeling of wanting to be there and part of this organization.
Charise: I highly recommend the College of Martial Arts to kids and adults! My son attended this Dojo for 5+ years, and I absolutely love our experience there. The staff is fantastic and cares about the kids perfecting their craft! They have taught my son confidence, discipline, and self-defense. I hate that we had to end our training here, but we had to relocate!
Max Garbarino: Excellent school
James Sites: Great staff and great experiences for my kids
Brian Cobb: Outstanding place
PG: Our 6yo has been attending class here for approximately 3 months and we couldn't be happier. To say Sensei, Senpai and the teachers are great with the kids would be the understatement of the year. And that doesn't mean they are easy on them. They don't let them goof off (too much, lol) and they take it serious. They really do want them to Learn. But they make it fun for them too! Highly recommend COMA to anyone
PnA S: Only took 2 classes with our 5 yo to convince us THIS is THE place she belongs. Sensei and Senpai along with the rest of the staff are fantastic with the kids. They make the class fun for them while teaching the fundamentals . The best part for us is that it is not only a foundation for Karate, but also self discipline, respect, and manners. We are new here, but are very excited to see the progress our daughter is guaranteed to make.
Rick Pickard: Great family run dojo with impeccable instructors. Highly recommended.
Don Robertson: Super shady sales tactics, wouldnt give me any price info until they tried forcing me to sign a contract which they barely even let me read. I didn't appreciate the sign now or it will cost you 400 more dollars tomorrow. Disappointed!
Mark Sapian: Very clean and professional! No wonder everyone else gave this a 5 Star review.
Brenda Meller / Meller Marketing: Our son has been going to College of Martial Arts for several years. This is an excellent karate school. The instructors are awesome teachers. Not only are they teaching the art of karate, but they also instill in the kids teachings about respect, relationships, appreciating others, and how to interact with other kids and adults. In addition, the COMA is a community. We have gotten to know other families throughout the years. Five stars. If there were ten I'd give them 10 stars!
Emilia Szerenos: One of the best Dojo’s I have seen in a long time! There is a feeling of cleanliness when you walk in, showing that the owners really care about hygiene (I think that’s a quality some studios lack). The instructors are kind and friendly, and really aim to make the children’s time at the Dojo fun and enjoyable. They place a GREAT focus on character growth, such as respect, gratitude and discipline, in addition to the self defense training. The College of Martial Arts is like a second school.
Lori Stirling: No better place to train and grow both in martial arts and in life. The staff is amazing with my children and the courtesy and respect they have learned has helped them in every aspect of their lives!
