Maddy Contesti: Wow! I thought I knew where the best chicken shawarma was in Detroit but I was wrong; it’s without a doubt Boff’s! I was suggested this place by a friend in Bay City that will specifically drive to come eat here. Not only we’re my mother and I offered a sample but the pricing, kindness and quality is outstanding. Don’t be fooled by the outside, it looks like a meat market but there is seating, a clean bathroom and it’s pretty open!

Todays Present: My new favorite Mediterranean restaurant! The guys working at the restaurant and the store had great customer service. They have the Northern Michigan seasonings and pasties that have been hard to find around here. The market has a nice selection of turkey chops, crab, lobster and even rabbit. The restaurant has funky selections of drinks. The tawook chicken was our favorite. The chicken cream chops and lamb chops are pretty good. The chicken and lamb shawarmas were so tender. I highly recommend this restaurant and market!

We do take out a lot. Invariably, there’s something missing. Not at Red Olive. Spot on! And a small touch but they wrap dressings, soup, anything leakable in plastic wrap. I had asked for an extra cup of white sauce with the order for an extra charge, and that was included. The salad was dry, although I could tell quality ingredients were used. The falafel in the salad was pretty tasty. The lentil soup was not the greatest. Pretty bland. I'd like to try again, but next time, I'll go myself to be sure everything I requested is added.

The Meat Teshreeb, while passable, was a far cry from the rich, hearty stew I had anticipated.The one redeeming element of the meal was the Meat Kebab, which was expertly prepared and burst with flavor. This standout dish offered a tantalizing glimpse into the potential of this restaurant, making the overall disappointment even more poignant.What further marred the experience was the service. Despite being generally attentive, there was an unsettling rush attached to it. It felt as if there was an invisible clock, pushing us towards the exit a bit too soon, stripping away the leisurely enjoyment of the meal.Given these experiences, this restaurant doesn't make the cut for my future dining choices in the city. Despite its potential, it falls short in delivering a truly satisfying and authentic Iraqi culinary experience. A revisit seems unlikely unless significant improvements are made
