S G: I have been banking here for 22 years. I opened an account here when I was just a kid. Whoever the older woman is working at the location on Challis in Brighton needs to work on greeting loyal customers. Not very polite.
HRG Capital: Horrible M&A team, dragged us along just to back out of a deal last minute with no legitimate reason. Avoid at all costs.
David Lazarus: Horrible service and dragged us along for months just to back out of a M&A deal 2 weeks before closing. Unprofessional and would suggest avoid them at all costs for business loans.
Saif Yousif: This is a bank that works in a bullet proof manner. I’ve checked around I know my funds are safe just because of the old proven characteristics they still carry today.
Brian Boesch: We enjoyed working with Kevin and his team to secure a home loan. Highly recommend using them if you are in the process of buying a home!

Michele Worden: This bank is a poor choice for small business owners. They are about a decade behind in capabilities and cash management services and they charge very high fees for routine business processes that are free at other banks
Cara Iafano: This bank is absolute trash and I've only been apart of it for 12+ hours. I have banked with 1st national for 10+ years and was unaware of the merger. Now it's merger weekend and I cant access my money and all branches and customer service phone #'s are closed. Real smart to plan a merger when no one can help. You can't cut people off to their money like this. Seems like this bank cared more about their new fancy signs than making a smooth transition for their customers. I will be changing banks immediately.

Always friendly, patient with problems and questions, contacting me personally when an account is overdrawn, mercifully waiving fees. In every exchange I feel like I am dealing with a real human being; like a good neighbor, who seems genuinely happy to help.The branches are clean and attractively laid out, even down to the little touches like locally-sourced coffee, granny smith apples, and treats for my kid (always offering it to me first).Not to mention how much they support the arts in our local community which, as an artist, means the world to me. I love banking at a place that is so invested in the heart of Ann Arbor.

Jason Elliott: The teller that I spoke with today was very polite and helpful, however the banker that he brought over was very short with me, dismissive, and wouldn't even look at me when I gave him my feedback. Fortunately, he waived $20 of the $160 in fees I was charged on 2 transactions... so, I guess that's something?Honestly, I'm more upset about how impolite the banker was than the fact that I was inappropriately charged $160. I've been banking with 5/3 for 10 years, the banker barely did anything about it, and wouldn't even look at me throughout the process. This is not only poor customer service, it's also just plain rude.There's 20 other banks and credit unions in this town. 5/3's customers deserve better.

Edited a few years later: Still dealing with CDs we bought here years ago and, once again, we are waiting forever for service. Don't use this bank if you expect motivated customer relations.
Emma Melendez: Do not use their ATM!!! It ate $280 in cash, and never accepted the deposit. Blamed it on technical difficulties. It was cash....didn’t give it back. Luckily the agent I spoke to is giving me credit, but I still have to wait another day. Definitely closing my account since you’re not open on the weekends, the only one closest to me. This would’ve been taken care of faster if there was someone at the location to speak with. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed. Such a big inconvenience!!!

Cheryl O'Donnell: Went to cash a check written on a bank of ann arbor check, wanted to charge me to cash it because I don't have an account there. Why should I pay to have money to cash a check from THEIR bank? I was thinking of opening an account but do to what I feel is poor banking practices will stay with the credit unions I use.
Mark a. Leech: Bank of ann arbor bought 1st national bank howell...what a JOKE ! , two weeks and FAKE promise's bank card don't work... I'm hungry...had to wait in line to get money from bank that I own...biden inflation had to go back to bank of ann arbor for more money ...bank of ann arbor card don't work!

Swapnaa Jayaraman: We have held our non-profit account with BoAA since 2005 and we have had nothing but the best service. Natalia, the branch manager, is smart, thoughtful, and fiercely protective of her customers. Any request we take to her, she goes the extra mile to make sure it's done. Like another reviewer mentioned, she calls us to warn us of suspicious activities and patiently answers every question we have asked her (some of which were so basic that you'd think they would annoy most people). We are lucky that we started off banking with BoAA and we wouldn't dream of leaving.
Rebecca Hall: We hold a class weekly in their community room. They are very nice and the room has views of both parking lots. It is close to Espresso Royale and to Kroger.
kathy marx: I have the complete opposite view of Shane. I have been a customer of Bank of Ann Arbor for nearly 10 years and this is the branch that I primarily use. Both Mary and Natalia are excellent bank representatives; friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. I do all of my business and personal banking at BOAA and have been nothing but pleased. They even go above and beyond by calling me directly to alert me of any issues with my accounts. I've never had an issue. Ever. I would absolutely recommend them as my bank of choice. In fact I have.
Shane Johnson: DO NOT BANK HERE!!!! This bank is by far the most understaffed and unprofessional bank I've ever been to. On top of being understaffed, the 2 workers that were present upon my visit were completely rude and don't deserve jobs. Upon walking in the bank I waited to be spoken to. I stood in front of a woman named Mary and she didn't speak or even look my way. This is the only bank I've ever walked in, stood in front of someone, and no one spoke. Finally after about 2 minutes of awkward silence, a lady came from the office and asked if I needed help, her name was Natalia. I was inquiring about opening up an account and the terms of direct deposit and making wire transfers and it seemed to me that Natalia didn't have a clear answer for anything. She seemed like she had no knowledge of how thank bank would handle wire fees. Which I thought to be completely outrageous since she mentioned she was the branch manager. I tried to get clarification on the fees and she seemed to get frustrated more and more with each question I asked. She came off extremely rude as if she didn't want my business and like I had no business being there. This by far was THE ABSOLUTE WORSE experience I've ever had at a bank. I would have LOVED to be a secret shopper for Bank of Ann Arbor on this day. I will never be going back and I encourage ANYONE reading this review to not waste your time with bank of Ann Arbor, especially the location off of Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor, Michigan with Mary and Natalia. I'm completely DISGUSTED in their services and employees.

Peter Woodman: This is not a bank anymore- it’s a business office. They do not perform cash transactions for deposits or withdrawal. If you ask for that service they point you towards the ATM or another location miles away (outside of walking distance).
Michelle Richter: Honestly, this bank is garbage. I opened a PNC account in another state knowing that I was going to be moving to Ann Arbor in the future and that I would be able to access it easily. The first time I went inside to make a deposit with cash, they denied me and told me that there were no cash deposits inside of the bank, which, if you’re a bank, doesn’t make any sense. So I am limited to depositing my cash outside at the ATM… recently I couldn’t deposit ANYTHING while my account was running close to nothing with bills being taken out of my account. The ATM was down for a week. When I desperately needed to deposit my cash I had to call cooperate and explain to a branch manager my situation (previously I used another atm from a different bank to deposit cash and minutes after I received an email that my card would no longer accept deposits from other branches) and that I needed my card to accept me using another ATM because I had bills that needed to be paid. The lady on the phone said no problem and I should be able to do just that right away… nope. I just called the location to ask if the ATM was up and running again because my rent is becoming due and I need to deposit my tips. The lady on the phone told me she didn’t exactly know if it was working and to go to a different location out of my area because their ATM was old. So, whatever. As soon as I deposit my cash and pay my rent, I’m closing my account with them because they can’t supply my and likely a lot of others needs in the area. I cannot express this enough, DO NOT USE THIS BANK. I have never gotten a response on any other “rate my experience” follow up email, ever. This bank does not care about you. Thanks for absolutely nothing, PNC.

Ella Clark: I always had a great time at this location employees have always been nothing but kind and helpful. However, this bank stopped accepting cash, and aparently carries no physical money. Why this bank still needs to keep such a large location open downtown, equipt with its own guarded parking lot is beyond me. Storefronts and parking spaces are at a premium in this city and knowing other pnc banks are close to location that will work with money I dont see the benefit of this branch staying open.

Bobby Albert: Nice place. Everyone I've dealt with there has been friendly. It has never been very busy when I've gone in, but they seem to have the space to handle busy times. There is a small parking lot around the back of the building, off Huron, so you don't have to fight for street parking near the door. I'll try to remember to grab pictures of it when the need arises for me to go back.
Cool Planet On Fire: PNC bank is not user- or customer- oriented. Managers can be rude or unhelpful, and their senior managers do nothing to correct the problem. I have been waiting for some assistance for days now. The manager has done nothing. The senior V.P. called Mara Farmer has ignored my pleas for help too and blamed ME wrongfully instead of the branch manager for not offering help so far. A customer shouldn't have to beg for help. I feel intimidated that if I insist, she may terminate my account. That is not how a customer should be made to feel.

Molly Welch Marahar: I have been a customer at PNC for several years and only recently started going to the branch located on Main Street in Ann Arbor. I have been cashing paychecks and paying down my credit card there every other Thursday for the last year. It was brought to my attention today that the checks I've been cashing, every two weeks on the exact same day for over a year now, are dated for the following day - a detail I never noticed myself, or think to be that relevant as I've cashed my checks there with more than enough funds in my account to cover their sum on a regular basis. Despite this, I was treated rudely and told that I could no longer cash my checks there on Thursdays. I find it unsettling that the tellers hadn't noticed this detail for over year now and, despite the fact that it is the mistake of the bank and not my own, I was treated rudely. When I asked to speak with the general manager, the manager there (Sunita Sachdev) could not produce a working number for me to call, nor would she offer me any other information such as an email address. Needless to say, I will not be returning there and I urge anyone who values a financial institution that bothers to read the documents that they process to take their patronage elsewhere.

Kyle Ewing: I called to check if they were open, automated message said yes. The Google listing says open. They are indeed closed on Fridays but I guess the only way to know that is to drive and pay to park and see the sign on the door.

Hannah Wheeler: Not a customer but an employee from another store down the street. Had them call our coffee shop during a busy work day asking if we can "run them by some coffee because they dont have time". Definitely sounded entitled and was rude when we said no. Horim: The team working here is amazing and down to earth. They work hard, are very friendly and always take care of me well. They deserve 10 out of 5 in my book. Also, if you do your due diligence and compare banking products from multiple banks, you will see Flagstar Bank has the most competitive products available out there. C C: I called to get my PMI taken off since I had enough equity in my home at that point. Ms. F. C. convinced me to apply for a home equity loan as a way of refinancing and getting a lower interest rate on my mortgage. It was an absolute waste of time given my limited employment (pandemic) and the denial letter made it seem like we were asking for another mortgage, not one to replace our current mortgage. Now I have a hit on my credit report and wasted tons of time. Just silly.

Ben Roos: I only used this PNC branch for a safety deposit box while at UM but everyone I interacted with in setting up and using the box was very friendly and helpful!
Elisa Warner: I went to this branch to talk about a private money matter that was actually the result of a horrific event in my life. There was absolutely no privacy and they sat me NEXT TO another customer in this large quiet place to talk about my story to the banker, who sat next to another banker, so that everyone in the entire building could hear. When I told them this was uncomfortable and asked to move to the empty private room next to us to speak with someone, they declined and seemed oblivious as to why saying my matters out in the open would be uncomfortable, even though I tried to explain. They were not sympathetic or understanding at all and just stared at me blankly as if it was unreasonable that I'd want privacy at the bank. I did not feel welcome. Don't go here if you need to talk something private with a banker.
