Bank of Ann Arbor: what do users think?
Lena Batoon: My husband and I are temporarily working in the US from Australia and we have been with Bank of Ann Arbor ever since. We travel a lot and love how low the international transaction fee is with this bank. All staff has been extremely nice. Joe always goes above and beyond to help us!
David Westfall: Always good and friendly service.
Viv A.: The tellers and customer service reps are friendly and helpful. They also have convenient Saturday hours.
Nathan Hill: Tjey are open on sat
Sarah T: Very unfriendly teller.

Bank of Ann Arbor: what do users think?
S G: I have been banking here for 22 years. I opened an account here when I was just a kid. Whoever the older woman is working at the location on Challis in Brighton needs to work on greeting loyal customers. Not very polite.
HRG Capital: Horrible M&A team, dragged us along just to back out of a deal last minute with no legitimate reason. Avoid at all costs.
David Lazarus: Horrible service and dragged us along for months just to back out of a M&A deal 2 weeks before closing. Unprofessional and would suggest avoid them at all costs for business loans.
Saif Yousif: This is a bank that works in a bullet proof manner. I’ve checked around I know my funds are safe just because of the old proven characteristics they still carry today.
Brian Boesch: We enjoyed working with Kevin and his team to secure a home loan. Highly recommend using them if you are in the process of buying a home!
CRD III: Won’t be opening a business account there because of too many shockingly negative reviews.
John Bogdasarian: Very helpful. Excellent service!
Qianqian Kang: The staffs here are nice, professional, and high efficient.
Joseph Johnson: What a terrible bank. So sad they took over 1st national. Why does the atm not return card automatically after cash withdrawal? Why is your staff so rude all the time. Why did my withdrawal limit go from $500 to $300 @ atm. I have had nothing but problems since bank of ann arbor took over
Bruce Popejoy: I love this branch of the Bank of Ann Arbor. It has great people servicing the members of the bank and the community! I drive out of my way to use this branch because I know everything will be taken care of quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
Michele Worden: This bank is a poor choice for small business owners. They are about a decade behind in capabilities and cash management services and they charge very high fees for routine business processes that are free at other banks
Cara Iafano: This bank is absolute trash and I've only been apart of it for 12+ hours. I have banked with 1st national for 10+ years and was unaware of the merger. Now it's merger weekend and I cant access my money and all branches and customer service phone #'s are closed. Real smart to plan a merger when no one can help. You can't cut people off to their money like this. Seems like this bank cared more about their new fancy signs than making a smooth transition for their customers. I will be changing banks immediately.
Andrew: ATM always seems to be broken…
Kerry Sprague: Used for a home refinance and they somehow calculated the incorrect payoff amount, which resulted in a loss of funds for us. Would not recommend.
Erin Zindle: Bank of Ann Arbor does so much above and beyond what a bank is expected to do. Always friendly, patient with problems and questions, contacting me personally when an account is overdrawn, mercifully waiving fees. In every exchange I feel like I am dealing with a real human being; like a good neighbor, who seems genuinely happy to help. The branches are clean and attractively laid out, even down to the little touches like locally-sourced coffee, granny smith apples, and treats for my kid (always offering it to me first). Not to mention how much they support the arts in our local community which, as an artist, means the world to me. I love banking at a place that is so invested in the heart of Ann Arbor.
Trooper Long: Convenient ATM
Robert Mags: Staff are super friendly, and theres coffee!
Tracy Uguccioni: The lack of interest the staff and management has for a small business customer is sad.
Jeff Hall: Bank of Ann Arbor is genuinely committed to serving its customers with the highest level of service and attention. As a local business owner, I have both personal and commercial accounts here. Over several years I've consistently experienced friendliness, professionalism and a desire on behalf of everyone at Bank of Ann Arbor to deliver exceptional service.
kathy marx: Best bank EVER!!
Allison Fritsch: This is the worst bank in Ann Arbor. Terrible customer service. They seem to be more concerned with coming up with ad slogans, which have become unbearable as well as mildly offensive, than they are with serving their loyal customers. If I could give less than one star in this review I would. Take all business elsewhere.

First Merchants Bank: what do users think?
William: Nice drive through newly remodeled love this one
Eric Eschler: Level one was good, but FMB has been nothing but trouble from day one. This was a downgrade, about to switch banks asapEDIT: Switched to chase and couldn't be happier!
Bean's Best LLC: I have banked with Ann Arbor State bank for a few years now, for business primarily. I loved A2SB but the transition to Level One is exactly what I feared. Loss of relationship, horrible transition including a completely nonfunctional website (chat help under maintenance, phone number not working, login not working etc). So far this is the typical small bank takeover and it is a real bummer.
Trooper Long: Newly remodeled and furnished

First Merchants Bank: what do users think?
Taylor Leipold: Most amazing bank on the entire planet!
Sea Stronger: Five stars all the way to Ann Arbor State Bank and mortgage officer Sean Breeden! I called Ann Arbor State Bank recently when I was shopping for a new mortgage. My realtor, Julia Brenner of ReMax, recommended that I go with a local bank rather than one of the big national names since most sellers consider it to be a much stronger pre-approval and would therefore strengthen any potential than we would make on a house (a very good thing in this tight A2 market). Wow! I was blown away by my experience. Sean Breeden was amazing every step of the way. He responded quickly, and patiently and graciously answered all of my many questions (at one point I think we had 22 emails going back and forth) and gave me such clear, direct information. I shopped other local banks as well, but no one came close to Sean's professionalism and expertise. He got me a fantastic interest rate and worked hard to help us close early. What is usually a very stressful process was, in this case, a wonderful experience. Thank you, Sean, and AASB!!
Ashley Hiser: I have had the best experience at this bank working with Sean. He was able to get me a mortgage on my first home, and just recently a mortgage on my new home. He was very friendly and quick to respond with my endless questions. I will definitely work with this bank again.
Bo Borgnakke: I worked with Jeremy Shaffer to secure a mortgage on my first home. He got me a great rate and was professional, courteous, and always available to answer questions. I would highly recommend Jeremy and AASB; well done!
Maxwell Lazaroff: Great bank, used them for years. Also financed my house with a fella named Jeremy there. Super nice guy, talks really fast, built like a linebacker. Highly recommend.
Zac Meyer: Jeremy Shaffer is the real deal - 100% committed to you and your plans. Would highly recommend working with anyone at A2SB.
Lindsey Slater Borock: Sean Breeden is the best mortgage loan officer to work with! He is very prompt with responses and explains things in an easy to understand way. We have worked with him purchasing our house and refinancing twice and will never look anywhere else! Check him out!!!
Kerry Sprague: We had the pleasure of working with Sean Breeden from Ann Arbor State Bank for the purchase of a home. Sean is amazing - He was through, knowledgeable, available and always pleasant to work with. We are so grateful to him for guiding us through the process so adeptly.
Ben C: I worked with Sean Breeden on refinancing my mortgage.Sean was very helpful and a nice guy to work with.
Mona Beauchamp: We worked with Sean Breeden for our mortgage and from the very first he was polite, efficient, accessible, always ready to help and make our process easy and clear. I highly recommend him and this bank!
Rafael Mesquita: Sean was great. He helped us along the entire process, from selecting the best rate and payment conditions to the final documents and paperwork.
John Millard: Our real estate agent referred us to Sean Breeden and the team at Ann Arbor State Bank... good call! I understand why he came highly recommended. Professional, diligent, can-do attitude and as flexible as they come.
Kathleen Millard: Sean handled our mortgage for us and we were impressed from start to finish. He is well organized, methodical, and updated us throughout the whole process. We couldn't recommend anyone better and you will not be disappointed with his professionalism and timeliness.
John Recznik: Ann Arbor State Bank - more specifically Sean Breeden, responded to my emails and phone calls in what was nothing short of amazing in terms of the amount of time it took to receive an answer or call-back. This level of expediency was critical when it came down to the wire to close quickly. We ran into a land boundary issue that took weeks to resolve, but because Sean was so good at what he does - clear, concise, and responsive - we still managed to close before we lost the lock on our interest rate. I've purchased several homes and refinanced on numerous occasions and never experienced anything like this service. Also, and most importantly, all the various fees to purchase our home were either the same as or less than the "major" bank I've been working with for 20 years. Finally, I never do reviews, but this level of service had to get one!
Mike Jenkins: Sean has helped our family out with 3 mortgages and 1 refinance in the last 4 to 5 years and his service and follow up has been top notch!! His attention to detail was outstanding, and Sean was able to keep me calm when additional information was needed, that sometimes seems very redundant! We are now trying to see how Sean can work with us our customers, in our kitchen and bath business.I would refer Sean and Ann Arbor State Bank to everyone!
Jacob Krogmeier: Sean Breeden has handled 2 Mortgages and 2 Mortgage refinances for me over the past four years. Each time he has done a great job. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made this stressful experience much easier. I cant recommend him enough.
Rebecca Recznik: Sean Breeden helped us secure a mortgage for our home and was fantastic to work with! He was patient and accommodating despite several delays in the closing process due to the home and well inspections. He was prompt and thorough in making sure all the details were in order. We highly recommend him!
Will Hodgeson: My mortgage loan office, Sean Breeden, was excellent. He provided several pre-approval letters for me as needed and completed all the financing paper work well ahead of the scheduled closing. Sean made my house closing a very easy process.
John Hoving: Sean B. was a delight to work with. He worked tirelessly to get us the best rate possible, even with our unique circumstances. And his follow-up and gift for our family at the closing was very heartwarming.
Rachael Guest: Sean is absolutely wonderful to work with! He helped us with the purchase of our fist home, and made everything very easy to understand. He was also very patient with the million questions I asked about every detail. He was easy to reach if we ever needed him and always willing to help. I would highly recommend Sean and Ann Arbor State Bank!
Adriana Benedetto: My husband and I could not have been happier with our experience working within Sean. He is very approachable, knowledgeable, and professional. Sean always made sure that we knew that our comfort and satisfaction was his priority. We have and will continue to absolutely recommend him!

Fifth Third Bank & ATM: what do users think?
S. H.: Sometimes I am the only person in line and the lot is empty and I wait forever to get someone.
Donella Grissom: Awful customer service!
Ryan Forbes: Worst branch ever. After many years I’ve had enough. Will be joining a different bank.
Kristin Saultz: Very friendly staff Manager always waves or says hi when I go inside along with the rest of the staff greeting me
Lewis Hershey: No one answers the phone. No one replies to emails. Worst bank ever.
Abby Miller: Slowest bank EVER. Make sure you leave 30 minutes to make any transaction in the drive thru. They seriously need to look at their systems and how they service customers.
Jason Elliott: The teller that I spoke with today was very polite and helpful, however the banker that he brought over was very short with me, dismissive, and wouldn't even look at me when I gave him my feedback. Fortunately, he waived $20 of the $160 in fees I was charged on 2 transactions... so, I guess that's something?Honestly, I'm more upset about how impolite the banker was than the fact that I was inappropriately charged $160. I've been banking with 5/3 for 10 years, the banker barely did anything about it, and wouldn't even look at me throughout the process. This is not only poor customer service, it's also just plain rude. There's 20 other banks and credit unions in this town. 5/3's customers deserve better.
Hamsters M: Very bad service, will not do business with this bank.
Nathan Worthing: I'm sure about the bad reviews. I am happy to still be able to go into a bank. The branch manager, Renee, has always been very helpful and kind.
Barb M: The management of this branch has changed for the worse. I have currently been waiting for 30 minutes to cash a CD while 2 management people sit in their offices waiting on 1 person. When brick and mortar banks offer this kind of service, they shouldn't be surprised that customers go to on-line banks. Edited a few years later: Still dealing with CDs we bought here years ago and, once again, we are waiting forever for service. Don't use this bank if you expect motivated customer relations.
Emma Melendez: Do not use their ATM!!! It ate $280 in cash, and never accepted the deposit. Blamed it on technical difficulties. It was cash....didn’t give it back. Luckily the agent I spoke to is giving me credit, but I still have to wait another day. Definitely closing my account since you’re not open on the weekends, the only one closest to me. This would’ve been taken care of faster if there was someone at the location to speak with. I have bills to pay and mouths to feed. Such a big inconvenience!!!
Levi Gray: I was helped by Renee; she was extremely helpful
Vivian Esquivel: Sometimes lines are long but that's expected at certain times of day. Without regard to long wait times I've always had great encounters with the employees here. My daughter is actually excited to go to the bank with me when we're go lol
Takato Yamada: Lowest customer service I’ve ever had....
Julie Vanderhoff: I don’t know where these bad reviews are coming from. They were friendly and efficient. Offered to fill out the slip for me. Even the other teller spoke to me while I was there. Super service!
Ahmed Makkiyah- أحمد مكية: Not sure why calling customer support is the worst experience ever! I tried to close my account and get my $30 back but it seems no one is follow up on my rewrequ. It's been 60 days now !
Robert Vasquez: Small time back withHigh fees for every little thing. You can do better.
Wolf Cooper: Worst bank ever to do business with, stear clear of this place. Very discriminatory!!! If you care about equality boycott this place!!
woodringg: Legitimately don't understand why the reviews are so negative, they're always friendly and willing to work with me. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to see someone and they've always taken care of my problem quickly and efficiently.
Eric Richardson: No stars really...Every time for the past two years I can never get a money order always says the system is down... for two years tho. This one and the stadium branch. It's always some passive aggressive excuse.

First Merchants Bank: what do users think?
Sonya D.: Terrible service. Business account. I had a check stolen and altered. In-person the bank staff made it sound like it would be simple to have it corrected. Three weeks later they know nothing. No trace can be found of the affidavit. In the meantime I had a call from the security department telling me how I could protect my account from issues in the future for a mere /s $75 a month. So plan to pay $900 a year to keep your account safe.Yesterday the entire website was down for an extended period of time. I've moved most of my funds and an just trying to get this resolved so I can leave entirely. Please keep your assets safe. Do not bank with First Merchants.
Account Administrator: Level one was ok but first merchants is just horrible. You must get approved from this bank to withdraw funds from your own business account at the ATM.I have never encountered such restrictions at any bank. It's been over 4days. No follow up on their end. I'm switching banks. This is way too much work just to have access to your own funds. BEWARE
Erica Sawyer: This place is horrible. Their ATM ate my card for no reason and they literally could not help at all they said I had to contact my own bank to get a replacement card and couldn't get it out of the ATM!??!?! It makes no sense. Thanks for ruining my weekend. Terrible customer service.
Steve weiss: Level one bank will not help you should your card get compromised. They will tell you that another department handles x or y and give you a run around. There is no follow up with customers. No reason to do your banking here.
Drew Hutton: Ann Arbor State Bank was the best. Level One Bank is the absolute worst.
Rachel Potts: We opened savings accounts for our kids and the whole team was wonderful! They were patient, kind, and helped educate the kids about their accounts and what saving can do over time. We are so happy with the personal service and attention we received then and ever since. We take small deposits in on a regular basis and they are helpful and patient every time we’re there. Thank you to all of you at Ann Arbor State Bank!
Sea Stronger: Five stars all around to Ann Arbor State Bank and mortgage officer Sean Breeden! What is usually a very stressful process was, in this case, a wonderful experience. Thank you, Sean, and AASB!!

Old National Bank: what do users think?
Faramarz F: Great bank. Friendly staff.
Craig Schram: I was told incorrect information twice from this bank. Do not waste your time, cancel your accounts.
Victoria Moore: Carissa is amazing. Professional, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. I needed some urgent help and she was right on top of it. Great customer service is not something that is a norm nowadays. To encounter people like Carissa, it truly makes a difference.
Pick a Username: Not really sure why this particular bank has different hours than all of the other Old Nationals but it's annoying and inconvenient.
Steven Marx: Had to go here for work
K A: I hesitate to even give them 3 stars but Im in between a 2 and 3. Have had two separate interactions with them. One actually closed with them and the other as a potential new mortgage. Both times communication was a problem. The first time I chocked it up to the individual I was working with but the second time made me realize it was the company itself. I also in general have a distrust towards banks so I could have bias but I recommend trying a credit union before ever even landing here or any other bank. The redeeming quality was one good lender I temporarily worked with who was very straightforward and helpful
Brian Urbancic: My wife and I recently deposited a check from a title company. The deposit cleared but 3 days later a reversal posted to our account. We weren't notified. I only found out because I login to our accounts at least a couple times a week. So far, ONB is blaming the other bank. And maybe they are right to do so. But until this is resolved, don't close the issue I opened at the website's Contact Us section and don't charge us a fee! If it turns out that the other bank isn't really at fault, this 3-star review drops to 1-star.
Stewart Beal: The staff of this Old National Bank are great to work with on all aspects of banking from checking, to savings, to lending.
Mitchell C: I have to change my 5 star review to a 1. I've never felt so slighted by a business in my entire life! No wonder the ratings are so horrible! After being a loyal customer for over 4 years this joke of an establishment closed my business account without giving me any reason or recourse leaving me scrambling to open a new account and get my payroll sorted out so that I can pay my employees and operating costs. I'll continue to leave bad reviews and steer people away from this bank if it's the last thing I do.
Brian Craig: I brought a cashiers check, drawn off this bank to cash it so I could payoff a car loan at another bank and they didn’t have the cash to cover the check. It was $18,500.00. It’s not small, but not that large that a bank with a big safe couldn’t cover. That’s why people pay extra for a cashiers check!
Courage WrD: Terrible business hours.
Mikki Sharp: The service at this location is superb! The employees always greet their clients with a smile and eager to help.
Victor Mar: .....fees went up and customer service down along with the name of the bankLuckily there are better options in town
Thomas Peppard: Terrible online banking system, even after transitioning twice in 2 yrs to new systems, which they managed to make inconvenient for their customers (outages; lost statements; need to re-enter bill payer info; need to re-do ACH b/c of new routing number). Cannot use Chrome to download statements. Inconvenient branch hours.
Antek Wong-Foy: Just like the the other comments, what was once an outstanding bank, UBT, is now worthless. ONB charges petty fees for less than zero customer service. Don't waste your time and money with the dump!
Ethan Conn: UBAT was a good bank and I have to say that the staff that carried over is friendly. ONB policies suck my butt and you have to be a rich man to afford a checking account. No follow through on getting me checks with correct personal information after two requests and unreasonable fees for checking. Had to visit several times after the switch to get my cards to work.
Dan Vaughn: Was forced into using this bank after they purchased United. They are, without a doubt, 10-12 years behind the times in terms of online banking. As a young person who relies on their website, mobile app, etc to do banking it is really frustrating.
Scott Roff: I have had several Mortgages at several different Banks; never have I had a bank officer spend so much time and work as hard as Betsy and Kathryn did. They bent over backwards to assist in wading through all the paperwork and jumping through all the hoops. They did an outstanding job in my opinion.
steven kipus: United set a high bar that this bank has no hope of even coming close. I am pulling out soon. Their online banking is a joke, no phone service, and they promise me things that they can't end up doing.
Armen Saakov: I used to have a mortgage with United Bank and Trust and they always provided me with exceptional customer service. Old National Bank took over United Bank and Trust and everything got changed. I am not able to pay my mortgage online anymore, I have to mail a check or go to one of only 2 available branches in Ann Arbor. Last month I went to the branch to pay mortgage and found out that they already added $83 extra fees to my mortgage payment. Terrible, terrible bank. I would love to take my business elsewhere but it is a mortgage and i can't. If I just had an account with them I would close it right away and go just elsewhere, anywhere , only not to be with them. Run!
Davoren Chick: Terrible, terrible bank. ONB took over a good local bank then repeatedly told us false information while charging unreasonable fees for our accounts. They charged fees for our son's student savings account, charged fees to our own checking account despite high deposits, charged ATM fees, didn't send our new checks for weeks so we were unable to pay some bills, lied about allowing us to change our mortgage payment date - then claimed we were late in payment, gave false information over the phone multiple times, claimed they would not change our PINs then changed them, and on and on. We switched to a credit union. There are better (local) banks in AA. Don't let ONB take your money to Indiana.
