kwein kwein: Years ago I had a quality refraction here. However, since it has been a while since that exam, they insist on a comprehensive exam $$$ when I already had one recently through my U of Michigan insurance. The practice won't update my prescription without another expensive comprehensive exam. From past experience, you should obtain clarification of how much of insurance pays ahead of the appt.

Elisabeth Struve: While the doctor was decent, the customer service was horrible. They gave me a choice of only a few frames... None of which fit my face properly. They would not allow me to use old frames, would not let me pay up front to get my prescription quicker, and made me wait 2 months for my glasses. I tried to get my prescription to take it elsewhere and they made difficult. I went in to talk with them and the optician i spoke with had no idea what he was doing... He took notes about my requests and promised to get back with me. The glasses I ended up with are so bulky that I am going to have a sore face from wearing them. Additionally, the vision therapist blamed a previous eye doctor I had seen for causing my problems with my vision... Quite unprofessional.

Judi Graber: I do not recommend Dr. Curcione at all if you value the health of your eyes. My eyes developed glaucoma under her care and my right eye so serious I have severe stage optic nerve damage. Thankfully, only mild stage glaucoma in my left eye.I saw her 3 times from July, 2012 to April, 2015. My tonometry increased from 19 to 36 in my right eye and 18 to 25 in my left eye. Not until I had optic nerve damage did she recommend I see a specialist. By then it was irreversible. I am stable with laser treatments and drops.

Show up about month later right on time and they have no record of my call or appointment or information. I show them the record of when I called, they said sorry. Would not recommend to any one.
Diane Rice: I have been going to Ann Arbor Optometry for the past few years. If it is your first visit you can download all the new patient forms from their website and fill them out ahead of time to save you time at the office. I have seen both Drs Curcione and Sorter and am happy with both of them. I've always had very little wait time before my appointment. They take my insurance (Davis vision) and it seems like they have pretty big selection of frames. I cant comment on pricing since I took the basic Davis frames, but I was not pressured for any pricy add ons. I wear contacts and usually check out the online pricing before my appointment. Dr Curcione is always willing to work with me to make the price of ordering contacts through the office competitive to the prices offered online. The doctors are very knowledgeable about contacts and were even able to prescribe a special lens type for my eye with astigmatism (I've worn contacts for years and they were the first to tell me these were available).

Lacy Lendon: Dr. Krieg was very professional and informative. I left with a year supply of contacts the same day! Definitely will return for all my future eye care needs.

Heidi Trudell: Quality frames, quality lenses, quality customer service, super helpful staff, and they honor their warranties. I hadn't realized just how distracting a blue light blocking coating was going to be, and after a week of trying to make peace with it, they swapped out the lenses for ones with a less-neon-purple coating without any fuss. Fast forward 10 months and the anti-scratch coating was still under warranty when I called in a panic due to a scuff in the coating right in the sweet spot on the left lens, and again, zero fuss honoring of warranty to fix it.Without insurance it was an expected dent in the wallet, but considering I've paid similar prices elsewhere for mediocre quality, zero complaints on that!My only concern was with the actual screening; the intake form asked about a whole host of ailments, and I do have migraines, but the exam felt pretty generic, and it was over and I was out the door before realizing that they weren't asked about during the exam. Why ask if it's not going to be addressed? Still, the prescription is fantastic and the results are better than anywhere else I've been, so I'm calling it an overall win because these are the best lenses/frames I've ever had (30 years worth of comparisons).
Tara Boice: We spent well over $500 on top of insurance coverage for a pair of glasses for a child. Problem was they upcharge us at every turn, and it added up quickly. It’s especially upsetting learning if we made different choices we could have gotten glasses for free with our insurance. I guess live and learn. Just know what you’re walking into and shop around first.

Then gives you detailed explanation. I thought my last eye doctor was good. After the Dr. Lutz experience, my last doctor is still good, But Dr. Lutz is awesome!!!!
Emily Rouse: I came here because I wear hard contact lenses and I thought I needed them polished. Dr. Lutz looked at me and decided I did not need them polished which is a service he could have made money off of. Instead he was honest and told me it was just allergies and even gave me a sample product. I would recommend him highly to anyone with tough contacts.Also the staff was very nice. Shout out to Kay who helped me get my insurance all figured out over the phone which made my check in process easier.

Kay Michael: I've been wearing glasses for twenty one years and was misdiagnosed with an eye condition when I was younger and that experience led me to get very anxious during eye exams but both Dr. Krieg and Dr. Lutz have been able to make the eye exam experience enjoyable again. They not only take the time to thoroughly explain what they find but also answer any questions I have and that means the world! Oh, and the glasses! The eye exam involved more steps and discussing the results with the Doctor helped me understand the results, and the developing connections between eye health, brain health and overall body health, it was fascinating and educational. Ashleigh Bussey: I really enjoyed my eye exam this morning with the Doctor. She was very detailed when going over the extra test. It was interesting to see the back of my eye with the retinal photos. This place has a huge selection of eye glasses. When it came down to the final 2 pair me and my wife couldn't agree on, the optician asked other employees to come give a honest option to help me decide. Everyone was very friendly!

Abigail Cash: Clean office with a next door neighborhood feel. Spent 40min there all together. Scheduled an appt on the phone where they gathered my insurance info. After arriving, checking in, and filling out a short form, they took me back for pretesting and got me in the with doctor who explained things he did as he went. They had my trial contacts in stock, ordering an annual supply was easy. I wasn’t dilated but they offered retinal photographs. But you know, he never asked if anything was wrong or bothering me about my vision, I didn’t feel like I had a chance to share what I wanted to. It was a reliable and clean office, but I didn’t feel heard if that makes sense.
Grant Okdie: Dr. Lutz will give you nothing but an amazing experience. He goes above and beyond when explaining the photos of your eyes and understanding what’s going on with your health. I learned you can check your blood pressure and many others vital things just by the retinal imaging. The staff there is very friendly and informative. I would highly recommend.

I was her last appointment of the day and she stayed late to make sure we had all the tests and images we needed - thanks to her staff for sticking around too!

Eddie Smith: Main criticisms are focused on service after the eye exam. The staff member that I have always interacted with has a control complex and does not seem to appreciate questions from customers or customers raising concerns. Additionally, based on my experience, she will talk down to you like you don't know anything about glasses. I have since shifted my eye exams to a local healthcare provider and I order my glasses online.

Scott Brown: I initially stopped at a different eyecare location off Washtenaw (Visionworks) but the service was terrible so went to RX Optical and so glad I did. Excellent service. Sonia is terrific and helped me get an appointment for an exam quickly, and worked patiently with me to pick out new frames. She also went the extra mile to check on my eye insurance coverage (which isn't a common one) and made solid lens recommendations. Highly recommended!

Doing it curbside is not optimal and have had issues ever since.I have to give an update. The RX Optical team reached out to me personally and gave me the VIP treatment. My glasses are no longer ill-fitting and everything is great. Kudos to you and your staff.

Ralphie: Not happy with staff. They are friendly but that's where it ends. Took SEVERAL calls and a great deal of time to get their referral for me to the correct outside clinic. During a return visit to get my new glasses and check fit /vision as well as a dilation for follow up exam, desk staff had a difficulty checking me in and nearly had me take the dilation exam before checking the lenses. I like Livonia RX Optical better.

Mike McDowell: Me and my girlfriend went in today with our meridian insurance and both had to pay nothing for the most part. Friendly staff very helpful for her and I both as far as picking out frames that would look good in our budget . The doctor was very pleasant and professional, extremely thorough in her exam. All said and done we paid little out of pocket and both have a new pair of glasses coming in a week or so!!! Happiest I've been with an optometrist for sure. The only thing I don't like about Rx optical in general is if you have insurance they pull frames from a box and behind the counter when my insurance covers 95$ on a frame they sold me on a no name brand making me believe that's all I could get with my insurance when in actuality I had 95$ towards any frame in thier store which was never mentioned to me or my girlfriend.

Eli Maurer: Trash! Been going here for years and every pair of glasses I’ve got even ray bans have always come defected! I asked for a new pair once but never got anything so I just gave up and took what I got. My final straw was when I went in and asked for a trial pair of contacts but they couldn’t even give me that! Even after years and years of being a customer! I’ll take my business to svs down the road! Place should be called America’s Worst! Would give 0 stars if I could!

Mohammad Nimer: I had been going to this location ever since I was a kid and never met a nicer person to help me with my prescription. Rebecca Hoff saw me 9:30am and was amazingly energetic. She was easily the best I’ve had test me for a new prescription. Showed me pictures of my eyes and what she saw when looking at them to help me understand to make the best decision. She didn’t ask for this review and I rarely write them. Definitely will ask to have her see me next time I come in.
Maxwell James: Why would you go to a huge chain that doesn’t even staff real doctors to handle the situation where their cheap, poor quality contact lenses (also produced by AB!) become stuck in the patient’s eye? There are a lot of small practices in the area who do staff real doctors and actually care about their patient’s experience. You should go to those places instead of this one.

Kay Dee: I had to call multiple times and go in four times to get a correct prescription for contacts. Poor customer service, no promised call backs, rude front desk. Won’t be using again since I can’t trust them to write the right numbers on my prescription

Let me start out by saying Dr. Hoff was absolutely incredible, probably the best doctor I have seen for my vision. She was informative, friendly, professionally comedic, I absolutely loved being seen by her! After my exams Tim helped me out with getting my contacts. Tim was also extremely knowledgable, helpful and you can tell he strives to make anyone who walks through their doors comfortable and feel as if they matter to him and the business. Thank you Ryan, for being awesome and having such a great team!

When I first made my appointment they were giving me the run around with giving me information on my insurance all I wanted to know is do you take this insurance yes or no. It took them a week to get back to me on that and that is me having to call them back twice. We went in asking before we do this contact lens and eyeglass exam are the contact lens going to be in before October 22nd they said yes they will. My appointment was on October 1st. On October 15th I called and they said oh sorry they didn’t come in and they will be here on Friday October 21st I called and they were still not in. The reason for this appointment was to get those before a special event. Then a week after the 21st they called to say they were in when I called back I was put on hold for more than 20 minutes. I then tired to make an appointment they kept saying we can’t do the day you want but we have this day and this day open only. Mind you I don’t not live near this location I live an hour away from this place. I really hope Customer service gets back with me to solve this problem oh and I still don’t have my contact lens!!
Ray Stokes: After two examinations and three times fitting for the glasses was never able to see out them. Each time I was there, were at least two people returning glasses second and third times that they could not see out of. For god sakes go somewhere else.

With that being said, I was blown away by the service I received from Tim. He went above and beyond explaining, as well as showing, which lens would work best for the style frame I like. I really feel like he tailored the experience to my particular wants and needs. Tim really knows his stuff and is an asset to this location. I hope to work with him in the future!

I was the only customer there in the middle of a conversation about figuring out my insurance that I just gotten and hadn't used yet, when a family walked in for their appointments too I was dropped like a hot potato. They never circled back to my insurance and pushed me aside to assist the family when I had a appointment as well (for the same time) and was literally in the middle of speaking to them when they started ignoring me. They insisted my insurance card was not for vision after barely even glancing at it (it is for vision it is bcbs VISION as listed on the card I tried to present). I was then ushered through the rest of the appt without any guidance, ended up paying out of pocket because they did not care to take the 5 minutes it would have taken to actually intake my insurance information that I came prepared with. I should not have paid out of pocket and really should have left right away but really needed glasses as I am literally vision impaired and it is a necessity. Extremely disappointed will never recommend this place to anyone I love and care about.

They will surprise you at the checkout.During my visit, the nurse told me to do a retinal exam, but I denied it if the insurance was not paying. She insisted a few more times and told me I would be charged ($40) no matter what. She changed her statement once I told her to reconfirm. This is shocking to me as Healthcare should be as transparent as possible to a member/patient in terms of services and bills.Request to Clarkson - Please let patients know co-pays and services cost up front if those are necessary.To all patients who do not want to get surprised, please do yourself a favor - just confirm with Carkson before you walk onto your appointment day. You could also visit the costco Eye Center, which charges you a fraction of the cost of some uncovered services, as well as you can get better glasses/lenses at much lower prices.

The worker was able to help me for free, unlike Warby Parker who declined switch my lens out. Very friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend going here for their customer service. They have a nice design inside the store with a variety of neat & organized frames laid out for you to try.
Sandy Bambi: I’m having a pretty bad experience with this location. My daughter’s glasses are fine, but my prescription is off, and I was overcharged. They’ve stopped responding after weeks of phone calls and empty promises which is why I’m leaving this review. I basically paid them over $900 for a set of glasses that don’t work for me, and they’re not being helpful at all. The lady sales person is extremely rude. The guy is nice but nice isn’t helping my purchase or a refund. All I wanted was a cute pair of glasses, and now I’m in a glasses nightmare of hipsterness.

Paperwork was one page, very easy. Amazing selection of popular and fun frames. Dr Kang was super friendly and made the experience of an eye exam comfortable. Melissa was knowledgeable and explained all the details of the pricing and options available. My glasses came back in a very reasonable amount of time. Will definitely return. This isn't a big-box chain this is a boutique style store which is nice because they have THEIR OWN brand which I've seen on some very famous celebrities so paying a little extra for quality was just fine with me. Definitely will be back and will be recommending to everyone!

Eric J: With two pairs of spectacle lenses, the average price per pair is about $400. The price is on the high side, the speed is very slow, and the service is poor. In the case of rush, it is expected to complete in two weeks and actually exceed three weeks. The clerk said he would send a text message when it was ready, but he didn't. One of the fitted frames has a small amount of white paint-like stain on it, which can be removed with rubbing alcohol.

Then they called to schedule the "check" and said I still can't be seen for over a week and I am unable to order any contacts until they check me. I would rather pay out of pocket for an exam elsewhere that doesn't make me jump through hoops to get what I need.
Mike McDowell: Me and my girlfriend went to get adjustments here, very friendly and helpful and when my girlfriend's frames turned out to be defective they immediately ordered here a new pair of frames so they can adjust them correctly. The only thing I don't like about Rx optical in general is if you have insurance they pull frames from a box and behind the counter when my insurance covers 95$ on a frame they sold me on a no name brand making me believe that's all I could get with my insurance when in actuality I had 95$ towards any frame in thier store which was never mentioned to me or my girlfriend.

He was miserable for 3 additional weeks which included our vacation unfortunately. I decided to get another opinion from my original clinician, Zeeland Vision. Their reaction was very telling...they did WHAT, uhm who tried doing WHAT. I hate to say those spots earn a reputation for a reason...NEVER AGAIN.

After placing an order for his glasses I asked the woman assisting us if she could look at my glasses (the arm was very loose and about to fall off). It was near closing time and she took my glasses which were in the eyeglass case put my name and phone number on a post-it note and said they would be repaired and I would receive a call. Nearly 3 weeks later, no call. I tried on 2 occasions to call the store, no answer. I walk in to the store this morning. My glasses are sitting in the same area where she left them when she took them from me nearly 3 weeks ago. She did not apologize but said she would take a look and went to the back. I sat and waited for 30 mins before asking her coworker if he could please have her call me because I needed to get back to work. I did not receive a call and I still do not have my glasses. I'm very disappointed and frustrated at this point. I just want my glasses back.

Scott Brown: Terrible experience. I stopped by to make an eye exam appointment and provided the person at the counter with my insurance info. She didn't recognize the insurance carrier and to be honest, she seemed bothered to try and find out more information. I also showed her where that location was a preferred vendor according to my insurance website. I provided her with a number to the insurance company and finally she called but was put on hold. At that point she hung up on the insurance company and told me "I can't help you". Was incredibly rude and made no effort to ask a few additional questions to assist me or really to make any effort to gain a new customer. Regardless, I went to RX Optical down the road and received excellent service. Would not recommend this location.

It is very important to wear the right size; otherwise, the prescription does not help when the focal point of lenses will be in some location not matched with your pupils.The width of the frame and length of nose bridge are two important measurements printed on the handle of frames. When someone working there doesn't know this, how can I expect they measure correctly. Another experience with lack of training. Never go back there.UPDATE: I went to the store. The manager, Kelly, apologized for the inconvenience and replaced my damaged frame with a new one. She also checked the measurements on the other pair then made some adjustments. Thank you!ORIGINAL:First of all, I have been wearing eye glasses for 35 years. You can say how many time I have visited eye doctor and changed prescriptions, new glasses. For the first time, I used Visionworks to order only my eye glasses. I had my prescription with me and my doctor is amazing.I just received two pair of my glasses: one for distance and one for computer, progressives. The measurement for my computer is off. I have to look to the right side to see clear, left side is blurry. It is an error in measuring the location of pupils and their distance (horizontal) on the lenses.The distance, was good until the lady tried to adjust the hands for me. She bent them too much without measuring and checking the back of my head. Obviously, it was too tight. She tried to return them to the first position, but this process damaged the handle of my $300 frame.So disappointed that I waited for my new glasses for ten days and I have to spend more time and go in to have them replaced. Not recommend this location. I think there is lack of training and supervision.

Until recently I was a patient/customer at a LensCrafters location in another city, and the experience was vastly better there. For one thing, this location upcharges you to do a back of the eye retinal scan, which was always included at no added charge in the pre appointment pre screen at the other location. It was a bit of a shock to have the upcharge and then no information shared about whether insurance would cover it. Then when checking out I had to say at least four or five times that I did not want any frames. I walked out of there feeling really drained. I’m going to find a new eye doctor. The convenience of going to LensCrafters for an optometrist visit no longer outweighs the fact that they’re a seller of marked-up frames first, medical provider second.

My contact had ripped and I was waiting for my order from another retailer to arrive. That retailer also happened to be closed that day for business so Lens Crafters was the only other option near me that could save the day, and did they ever. Senay took the time to look at my script and offer samples for me to take home free of charge. I offered ot buy for them since I technically wasn't their customer but Senay reassured me it was not an issue. After this interaction, I am strongly considering switching. to coming here for all my eye care needs. Senay went above and beyond to take care of me. I honestly can't remember the last time I had such an amazing customer service interaction.
